I'm interested in trying to develop a 3D mobile game as a hobby project. After some research, GDevelop seems to be an interesting choice since it doesn't require me to learn a new programming language (unlike, for example, Unity). Does anyone on this forum have any experience with GDevelop, is it easy-to-use? Do you actually have to pay the GDevelop subscription to distribute iOS games or can I use the free version and just upload the binary via Xcode to App Store Connect?

Overall the system will primarily be used for Unity development over the next few years and games such as BG3. Ray tracing is not all that important and won't be used during development of games etc. Budget for the desktop is £2250 and a colour accurate monitor for £300 + calibrator for £100 . Any thoughts on the specs etc, haven't decided on a monitor just yet.... https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Gy3JkJ Cheers for any help in advance, Lex.

The system would more or less be used for Unity development (top down 2D (3D background assets)/ some 3D development, plenty of shaders and lighting) for the next few years, general compiling and of course gaming (bg3 etc). Right now I'm looking at a cpu heavy system and a 4070 with 32gb of ram but im wondering what you would recommend. I'm also interested as to what cpu would be better since UK pricing is very strange 13900k / 14900k or a 7950x3D (all more or less the same price £5-10 difference between them) Thanks for any help in advance, Lex.

Atm im wondering how I can spec out a desktop to beat or match a 13900hx + 4080 laptop for £1900 give or take £50 including a colour accurate monitor (was budgeting £250 but maybe less if there is a good monitor worth it).... right now im looking at a 7900x and 4070 for the system with the possibility of a 7950x and whilst I have looked at intel the price, heat and power consumption seem to be a bit high not to mention the lack of an upgrade path later down the road.... (Ik AMDs word is questionable but if the system even got 2 gens of cpus out the socket that would be great) also minimum ram would be 32gbs Essentially, this is a system that needs room to grow into so needs to be "future proof" to an extent as the amount of power needed will grow day by day as projects become more complex. Thanks for the help in advance, Lex.

I have been making a basic game in unity I like the simple pixel art as an aesthetic I would like to be able to lower the resolution (vertical so it supports ultrawide) to give it that aesthetic It may not be the best idea, but help the question unless you have a better solution

Ubuntu is getting bloated by gnome.Canonical (company that manages ubuntu) created their own DE known as Unity, should they switch to unity or stay in Gnome??

Budget (including currency): 600-700$ Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: game development, blender, csgo, valorant. So I'm just getting into game development, and I am looking to build a pc for the same. I'll be using unity game engine, a bit of blender, zbrush, premier pro, etc. But since the graphic card prices are extremely high rn, I am unable to get a good graphic card. So do you guys think I might get going with an i3 10100 for now and buy a graphic card later? And yes, before you guys spice up the wounds, the 3200g and 3400g are NOT IN STOCK. Any suggestions would help. Thank you.

didn't care to make a tech news. Unity acquires Ziva Dynamics, one of the better AI tools for expression on most faces which includes a lot of non-human or rather "humanoid" designs? can be used in unreal engine 5. askNK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJqs26m2s1k

Hi there guys, So I've been playing games such as Phasmophobia and SCP: Secret Laboratory, and in there when I use the mic, my voice is sometimes heavily distorted making me sound like a robot. I've done things such as: - Checked to make sure I have the latest BIOS, chipset, display and audio drivers. - Removed using display drivers using DDU for the display drivers. - Completely done a fresh install of all AMD drivers. - Made sure that I am on the latest Realtek audio driver. - Made sure the input audio source I was using had no audio enchantments and was set to default. - Tested to make sure the problem was consistent on the lowest sample rate and bit depth (2 Channel 16 bit 44100Hz) as there was a thing somewhere saying that some games might not be able to handle 2 Channel 24 bit 192000Hz. - Lowered graphics and background applications to see if the audio was glitching because of lack of resources. - Checking RAM using the windows memory diagnostics tool. System specs: - Ryzen 5 3600 - 8x2 dual channel T-Create 3200Mhz RAM - A520 Gigabyte motherboard - 1TB Crucial NVMe - 4TB WD Blue - 500W PSU - AMD Radeon Pro WX 3100 4GB - Connected to the internet using Ethernet I've really had enough of this and have found no solutions to the problem yet, and it seems to only be happening in Unity games and nothing else. For example, when calling via Discord and playing a Unity game, it is all fine, there is no mic distortion via Discord. So I've went back to the whole resource idea, that maybe I didn't have enough resources, so I decided to record myself using Audacity at the 192000Hz whilst playing the game. Immediately players again said that I was having the robotic voice, however when I reviewed the audio clip, my voice was crystal clear as day, without any distortion and consistent in terms of quality from when I ran a sample test before I started the game. So my voice is only getting distorted inside of the Unity games by my tests. Please, if anybody has a solution for this, please tell me, I just want to play multiplayer games again! Thanks, Gabriel

Hi in advance thabk you for taking the time to read this, i had a new oc built by gladiator pcs in the uk roughly 5 months ago. I have never since day one been able to play any game that uses the unity engine roughly 80% of them just crash out on startup and provide no crash logs, the other 20% will load but with such massive graphical issues that i cant even navigate the main menus. My specs are as below: Components 1 x 32GB (2x16GB) Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO Black 3600MHz AMD Ryzen Tuned DDR4 Memory Kit 1 x 512GB M.2 PCI-E NVMe Solid State Drive [Up to 3500MB/s Read | Up to 2300MB/s Write] 1 x ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING DDR4 ATX MOTHERBOARD - AURA SYNC RGB READY! 1 x CiT Crossfire Black Midi Tower Tempered Glass PC Gaming Case 1 x 700W | Be Quiet! System Power | 80+ Bronze | Fully Wired PSU 1 x 2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA III 3.5" Hard Drive 6GB/s 1 x MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GAMING X TRIO Ampere Graphics Card 1 x ASUS Xonar AE 7.1 PCI-E Gaming Sound Card 1 x Windows 10 Home 64 bit Operating System 1 x AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8 Core CPU with Wraith Prism RGB Cooler [GPU Required] 1 x GameMax Iceberg RGB Watercooler - 240mm I have already tried the standard things like reformatting and resting drivers for things even trying older drivers and the such to no avail, have even tried a gpu and ram from another system which works fine, and put my gpu and ram in another system again with no issues. Gladiatorpc are refusing to help anymore as theyve tested the hardware and its fine. I have even paid two local companies to take a look and nothing has changed i have exhausted my patience with googling things and trying to fix it myself so im reaching out anywere i can, any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Simon

Is there any information or resources on how one would go about doing this? I know people have already managed to mod FSR into Steam VR and even GTA 5, but I have not heard of someone doing such in a Unity game, although as far as I know it should be possible considering how documented Unity is when it comes to modding.

Hello together, a friend of mine experiences some weird game crashes after around 20 min in most Unity Games. The Windows Event Monitor shows an access violation in the UnityPlayer.dll Doing some research I found out that this was often caused by the Citrix Application which was not installed. So we tried some more and reinstalled windows, but still crashes after around 20 min. For the next step we changed the RAM Sticks, replaced them with new ones and did a full bios reset. But still no luck. After some time on google i stumbled upon this thread: https://forum.unity.com/threads/uni...es-made-with-it-are-randomly-crashing.897173/ In this thread the user bobisgod234 analyzed the windows crash dumps and found out that the access violation happend due to some register corruption and therefore probably a faulty CPU. So i did the same, analyzed the latest crash dump and found some similar error: rax=000000000000000e rbx=000000000000000f rcx=000000000000eeee rdx=0000000000000000 rsi=3a08888900001000 rdi=000000000000ffff rip=00007ff9d885c855 rsp=000000ed788fe950 rbp=0000000000000000 r8=000002a1f02c9962 r9=0000000000000002 r10=3a08888900001002 r11=000000000000000f r12=000000000000000e r13=000000000000000f r14=3a08888900001000 r15=0000000000000000 iopl=0 nv up ei pl zr na po nc cs=0033 ss=002b ds=002b es=002b fs=0053 gs=002b efl=00010246 UnityPlayer!UnityMain+0x6ea3d5: 00007ff9`d885c855 0fb706 movzx eax, word ptr [rsi] ds:3a088889`00001000=???? I attached the extracted txt file from the crash dump, but had some problems with the symbols so there are some other error messages which can be ignored. crash.dmp crash.txt

So, I’m going to be studying Game Design pretty soon and I don’t actually know that much about what makes a good computer good. The school I’ll be studying at didn’t qualify any specs beyond it having to be less than 3 years old, so I’m somewhat left to fumble in the dark as I try to figure out what laptop to go for. For it to properly run Unity Game Engine, the engine we’ll be taught to work with, I’ve been told I’d need at least 16GB ram (and that I should look into one with at least 1 expansion slot). Along with good cpu and gpu. I don’t really want a gaming pc as they’re clunky, heavy, loud, and I’ve been told they tend to be expensive for the brand. I prefer laptops I’m able to carry somewhat comfortably, and for the screen to not be Thee Biggest, too. Something in the price range of 5000-10 000 nok (around 1130 usd or 963 eur). Since I live in Norway; if anyone has any Norway specific recommendations that’d be great:D

so I created this character in blender, rigged and animated it there, but when I export it as .fbx it creates an animation that doesn't exist and picks it as default. I have tried to look for answers online and even stack exchange doesn't answer me. Does anyone know the solution. The only blender expert that I know here is @DigitalGoat

Summary The parent company of Unity, it's in plan of its biggest acquisition of another gaming company. The deal, that was announced on Tuesday, sees Unity taking control of Parsec. My thoughts: Even Doh Parsec Announced that part of the aquisition meant that parsec would still be free mentioned in a tweet from their official twitter page: https://twitter.com/ParsecTeam/status/1425206344467034113 we will probably see some stuff of it change in the future however i dont see how necesarilly it is benefitial for unity being a game developer only and parsec being a game streaming platform Sources: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2021/08/game-engine-meet-game-streaming-unity-acquires-parsec-for-320m/

I have absolutely no idea how to get started all I did was downbload Unity and the latest version. Any tips on how to get started, would really appreciate it

Okay so here am I again, Linus tech tips rarely lets me down so heres one for the real "nerds", I am making VRchat worlds in Unity, so, you need to use "VRchat SDK" in order to make proper builds in unity in which can be uploaded to the game okay, I am using Unity version 2019.4.31f1 as required by VRchat to make these builds, In Unity there is a bar at the top labeled "VRchat SDK" and when you click on it there are a certain number of menu options you get, one of those is "control panel" so my issue is multiple options including the one mentioned are gone, the SDK got "corrupted" maybe? I don't know what you would call it but as I was building my project the SDK just got all, half empty. I can provide more screenshots if needed but I think this console log indicates the problem, I just can't read it. Please if you know anything but certainly if you are familiar with "VRchat SDK" let me know what the issue is and why did the my SDK become unusable?

So basically I've been wanting to learn to make games for more than 6 years, recently I upgraded my 10 year old PC by slapping some Ram and a gt 730 so that it can atleast run Unity, and started with tutorials from brackeys, but during that I've faced some issues, like things (usually code) showing up as obsolete and having to browse around comments and forums to find a fix, but, this thing I'm doing is on the side, in my School Syllabus for Computer science there's python (and the brackeys tutorials are in C#), so I really want to learn to make games (on Unity) with python, I have no experience with unity (apart from the 5 tutorial videos I watched on brackeys), but I have some ( till Printing useless patterns with for loop, and some putting stuff in lists) experience with python, but the main problem is, I can't find many tutorials to do so, and I really can't afford a paid course as my parents don't support it.

Hello! I've had some free time on my hands recently (due to current events) and am interested in learning 2D animation and 2d rigging for a 2d sidescroller game i wish to make (its not in development yet). i know that Spine is a program built exclusively for this and there is an animation and rigging component in unity. i was wondering which you guys think is better? or at what each one is superior? of even if there is a different program that you think is better? i'd love if you have both pros and cons for each one Thank you !
-
I know there has been alot of discussion about this over the years and two major cons -if not the only ones- are the time it would take to port Minecraft to an engine like UE or Unity and the loss of all of the mods that have so far been created for Java MC. The incompatibility for all the mods is always a given in those discussions and I was thinking that if you hypothetically created the whole game with all of its features in a different engine would there really be no way at all to code the game in a way so it is able to interpret the mods originally created for Java MC? What even would the barrier be if you neglected the massive amount of time and effort it would take?

Hi, can I program with c++ on unity 2d/3d?
-
Hi, i currently have a unity face and hand recognition and gesture software where it outlines your hand in a green square and identifies what gesture you are doing. I want to output the movements to a java or python program (unsure which one) to control a robotic arm I have built. But the unity file has no way of recording coordinates and I am asking if anyone knows anything else I can use, how i can get the coordinates, or if there is software that can track the green square across my screen and create coordinates based off my monitor.
