I am looking into running some fiber inside my house. I recently did some renovations and put in new electrical and data wiring, these all run in conduits. I wil be swapping my existing network equipment some time in september. As a result of my own stupidity I forgot to put a conduit for data to my home office. My office is in a part of the building that is concrete so WiFi is pretty much a no go. I have considered running a CAT6 or CAT6A to my office on the outside of my house, but this cable would need to run through several walls and floors. This is not an ideal solution. Since I have the fuses and electrical conduits for mye home office right next to a data conduit I also considered running some shielded CAT6A in the same conduit as the electrical. After doing some research I found that this would most likely cause trouble since I would be running copper with copper. Electrical wires are 240V/50 hz. This set me on the path of fiber optics. So what do I currently have in my shopping basket you may ask? Unify Dream Machine Pro Unify Switch 24-100W Unify Switch 8-150W (two units) Unify AP AC PRO (three units, one will be in my home office) I plan to put the UDM Pro and the 24 port switch close to the dual fiber intakes on the ground floor.(only one is active, line is 800/800 Mbps). I plan to run fiber from the 24P switch up through a dedicated data conduit to the first floor and then connect to the first 8 port switch. Thinking I might as well run fiber and not CAT6 since this will be future proof. I will then run fiber through the electrical conduits to my office. This distance will be around 15 meteres (approx. 49 feet) from the 8 port to my office were I will put the second 8 port swich. Since I plan to patch everything with fiber I will order 6 of these transceivers. https://www.fs.com/products/65337.html. Yes, I realize I’m only getting gigabit LAN and not 10gig but it really doesn’t matter for my use case as long as I get a solid connection. At least it will be future proof. Now I have done a fair bit of CAT5/6/6A cabling, but I have zero experience in fiber. My copper wires run in plastic conduits (in-wall) that are Ø16mm (0,629 inches). For this to work I would need to pull the fiber in the same conduit as electrical, so I don’t have a great deal of space to work with as I install the fiber. Since I don’t have the equipment to terminate I will have to buy pre terminated fiber (patch cables). As far as I can tell, I will need LC to LC connectors on the fibre patch cable. I have found what I think I need here. (https://www.fs.com/products/40191.html). I would greatly appreciate any input as to what cable I should buy. It would need to be reasonably heavy duty to survive being pulled through the conduit. Any advice would be helpful and most welcome!

I got convinced on this forum to go for a B550 motherboard over x570, and got the recommended MSI MEG B550 Unify (instead of the Tomahawk X570) - saving a cool £10 for the "cheaper" B550 motherboard. As I installed the Meg B550 Unify motherboard I realised that my Corsair HX750 psu doesn't have enough PCI-E power connectors for this board! The HX750 only has 4 x PCI-E (6+2, 4+4 CPU) connectors, alongside 6 x Peripheral/SATA connectors, and the 24 pin ATX connector. The MEG B550 Unify motherboard has the 24 ATX connector (ATX_PWR1), 2 x 8 pin PCI-E connectors (CPU_PWR1 & CPU_PWR2), 1 x 6 pin PCI-E connector PCIE_PWR1 My Asus RTX3070 needs 2 x 8 pin PCI-E connectors, which means I am I x 8 pin PCI-E connector short on my HX750 PSU..... By calculations I only need about 500 - 550 watts, which I thought my hx750 was plenty, but now I don't have enough power connectors on my PSU for the B550 MEG - ironically the 850 watt psu's has 5 x PCI-E/CPU connectors. (Now the B550 is cheaper does not sound like such a valid argument anymore, as I have to spend another couple of hundred £'s for a 850 watt PSU which has 5 x 8 pin PCI-E connectors) What do I do now, return the B550 motherboard, and order the x570 tomahawk (as it needs only 2 x 8 pin power connectors), or spend another whack of money on a new psu (when my hx750 was not cheap and is only about 12 months old). Does anyone have any ideas or workarounds? In the mean time I have connected my RTX3070's 2 x 8 pin power connectors on the same cable (which is not recommended)

As title said. Which would be a better board ? Not just features etc but also the BIOS. They all have great VRM, but Gigabyte seems to have better value. At the moment I'm leaning more towards the Unify since it's all Black no RGB, it really fits my Black build with hint of White LED from RAM, GPU. I did consider ACE, since it's actually only slightly more expensive than the Unify. But in reality they are actually both same board. Just with more flare for the ACE. Though those Gold trim may not fit well in my Black build. But one thing that really put me off about the MSI board is the lack of SATA ports and USB ports on the rear. 300 - 400$ board but only come with 4 SATA ports ? The rear only consists of like 6 USB ports ( if you exclude the one for BISO Flashback ) While the X570 Master have load more. Aesthetic wise the Master looks better too. But I hate Gigabyte BIOS. I've always been using ASUS / ROG boards only, love their BIOS. Never use MSI, only a short period of time for Gigabyte, like 2 - 3 Days then I sold it got me a CH6 instead. Gigabyte BIOS was horrible on the X370, lack luster, confusing IMO and a lot of settings hidden somewhere, RGB is buggy as hell too. I've recently saw MSI BIOS on YouTube for X570, rather impressive. What I like most is you can control the Chipset fan. In a Nutshell, they are all great amazing boards. But it's the lack of feature and bad BIOS from one another is what making it such a hard time for me to make a decision. I like the MSI Unify, but it have lack of USB and SATA ports. I love it's all Black and no RGB, but the lesser shielding make it less pleasing. I like the Gigabyte Master because it's pack full of SATA, USB ports and also consist of 3 M.2 like the Unify, looks good too. Full cover on entire board, but my experience with Gigabyte BIOS was utter shit. Which board you guys would pick and why ?

I am looking at upgraded my Asus equipment that is currently AI Mesh Network, it’s also my firewall, and any thing else. I am really considering getting the dream machine special edition and get their security cameras when I come into stock if that will ever happen again

Hey Everyone, first of, hope you're having a wonderful day! I'm looking to try and set up a fiber backbone that will realistically be able to do 10Gb today and if possible move to 40Gbe+ later on down the line. current infrastructure is 2 servers, one for vm's /plex provider(unraid), the other acting as both high speed nas and longterm HDD storage (timemachine backups and the like)(freenas). on the network we typically see 15 devices at the low point with a maximum of around 40. everything from phones to laptops to proper workstations, networked receivers etc. Everything is currently running 1gbe rj45, except for workstations which are a combination of 2 or 4 1gbe links bonded few things: reason for fiber backbone is that the total length of the space is 100' by 50' 2 floors, not to mention that we'd be able to upgraded the receivers down the line if/when the need or opportunity arrises for a network upgrade. my current thinking for the network is to deploy Mikrotik switches because of their support for 4*10Gb SFP+ on inexpensive switches (crs305 and crs309). For router was thinking going for the RB 4011 since it has fiber and ethernet, and if I go Mikrotik for the AP's the 4011 is afforded with a 4*4 MU-MIMO on 5GHz and 3*3 on the 2.4 band. Thoughts? Talked months ago of upgrading and finally received all parts. Parts: MSI MEG UNIFY x570 Ryzen 3900X ac1200i corsair power supply trident z neo 3600mhz dual 16gb stick ram scythe fuma 2 cooler nvidia 980ti cooler master h500m Can attach pics of build as is now. But i really believe everything is hooked up correctly via mother board and psu. Plug everything into everything then psu into the wall and nothing turns on or spins except for the motherboards on-board power button and the clear cmos button on the back. Ive completely disconnected everything and double checked placement. Im shook and hoping i dont have dead hardware of some sort. Is there any possibility my case could be DOA? Ive triple check the front wires to the motherboard and just don’t know what it could be

Planning on getting the below, going to go with the 2x8 set of RAM. But, was wondering general thought on Unify vs Crosshair VIII hero. If anyone has had issues with either, both seem capable and Asus might have a better bios. Rog board also seems to have its onboard fan right in the way of the GPU so it may be covered up which seems counter intuitive. Just looking for thoughts or experiences on either
