Ubuntu 16.04 error here. Minecraft doesnt work on 22.04 install on other drie with my setup so ive kept this install where it did around. I have a p104 setup so minecraft is hard to run. On non intel card. When im booting during the part where it goes from terminal to login screen i recieve the error "cannot activate usb port is it bad?" even hitting "f2" for a new terminal it follows me the error message does. How do i make it ignore this error and boot? 22.04 sees this error too cause i indeed do hsve a broken port case usb but it refuses to get past it. It used to ignore it then stopped. The error endlessly scrolls across the screen.

My main drive is full so i have a 1rb type c drive, but it says that cause its external under media folder permission denied. How would i fix this? Sorry if its obvious. Host os: ubuntu 16.04 Drive inquestion is a sandisk 1tb type c external ssd. Virtualisation manager: kvm with gui.

I just installed Ubuntu for the first time on an old desktop and it was working fine on Ethernet but when i booted it up today it couldn't fine any Ethernet cards. I know the wire and everything works because it works fine on my windows PC. Any help would be great thanks

Hi, I have a problem with using ubuntu 16.04 and virtualbox running windows 10, I have installed the guest editions too. But the problem is I can't access my clipboard in either direction, no matter what setting I select... and also a more annoying problem is that I can't access ANY USB drives. I have tried (without success) to seelct USB drives before entering the VM, but nothing shows up no matter which USB version is selected. The drives themselves show up in ubuntu fine. I have tried looking for solutions to this problem, but maybe because I am not very well versed in the intricacies of linux I can't find a solution to either of these problems. Both virtualbox and the guest editions are the latest versions. Can anyone help me with this please? I have got a workaround to my problem for now, but it's convoluted and not feasible for long term usage, so hope someone can help, thanks

Hi, So I'm trying to setup more websites on my server. Right now I got the folder structure like this ../www/html ../www/beta And when going to www.mydomain.com it goes to ../www/html. when going to beta.mydomain.com I want it to go to ../www/beta. How do I do this? I dident find any good how to on this so thats why I'm asking here. Many of the reasons why I probably dident find a good how to was becaouse I don't really know the simple like, do I need to specify diffrent port or do they work with same ports (I know normaly programs need a port alone) So if you could help I would be really happy, an explanation is more welcome than a simple here is the code www.mydomain.com - ../www/html beta.mydomain.com - ../www/beta

New to Linux and have gone with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I have set up file sharing through samba and successfully transferred a file from the Windows machine to the Ubuntu machine. I am attempting to do the reverse now however I do not see a spot in Ubuntu to see graphically other computers connected to your network like you do in Windows. Does Ubuntu have this feature? I am looking for a similar GUI interface that resembles windows where you go to "computer" then "network" and see all the networked devices. I have attached a screen shot of the kind of interface I am looking for in Ubuntu.

Well i have a p106 sitting outside my finally usable pc, and... i have almost no tech skills whats so ever in graphics card terms, so first card. my os is ubuntu 16.04, and i plan for it to stay this way. is this safe to do or will it beick my system? is the opensource version of nvdia's driver better than intagrated? i heard many stories on errors with nvdia, so is it spasific to propriatary? should i just stay with integrated? its a gaming pc. i set my bios to onboard. in short, whats the risk? will i just need a system reinstall, will it brick it, will it just work once nvdia's driver is installed since the card was not in during os install?

I am new to linux,and i want to discover it so i installed Ubuntu 16.04 as a linux distro and it's running good.My issue is before ubuntu loads i get a black and white interface with some commands.and the same applies when shutting down. I have an ancient machine I use as a NAS, with some various old hard drives in it and a Pentium 4 CPU. It's got a 100-mbit NIC onboard, so network file transfers are of course significantly slower than file transfers to the rest of my old network (I have three other machines I use as NAS, each of which has a Gigabit NIC.). I also had a bunch of old ethernet NICs sitting around, salvaged from other old computers. So, very recently it occurred to me that maybe I could speed up file transfers in some situations by adding some of those NICs to the ancient server. Currently, the server has two 100-Mbit NICs in it: one is integrated into the motherboard, and the other is in a PCI slot. The server runs Ubuntu 16.04.3, and I've been using the Samba version from the Ubuntu repositories. At first, I tried to set up NIC teaming but that didn't go so well (and, since I manage the server remotely, screwing up the network configuration means having to go attach a keyboard, mouse, and monitor) but I found out that Windows 10 (and Server 2012) are capable of a technology called SMB Multichannel which will make use of multiple NICs by splitting communications across multiple connections. Samba supports this feature now, but the version in Ubuntu repositories is older than the first versions where this feature was implemented. By the way, I took a look at FreeNAS but it is nowadays only for 64-bit processor systems and requires much more performance and memory than this machine has. No dice. So, I went and grabbed the latest stable Samba source, compiled it, cd'ed to the extracted location, and ran: sudo ./configure over and over and over again until I resolved every obstacle I ran into by installing whatever package it complained about, sudo make and then finally sudo make install But I have no idea how to do the final thing: installing the freshly compiled Samba as a (systemd?) service so that it will run at all times, and I can use it normally. Basically, I need help figuring out how to do the same thing the package manager would do automatically.

My system came with 384.130 nvdia drivers for my 1060. is it safe to jump right into 440.64? or do i need to go inorder? photon games complaining about not supporting over dx9 is why i want to update. and i do not know what my drivers were for. p106 pre-installed or 1060? the ones i have now work extremely well so i would like to keep it constant if possible. easily over 200 fps in 4k all high csgo rightnow.

I have dual booted my laptop with ubuntu 16.04 and windows 7,whenever i use ubuntu it works fine but when i want to change over to windows 7,the bootloader will not work properly first it will show a pinky screen with white lines running across the screen and then an option to choose between win7 and ubuntu after that when win7 finally loads, it will be in that loading state for 3-4 mins,i have to restart 2-3 times for windows to properly boot,what should i do so that win7 and ubuntu both properly boots up. ps: i used eacy bcd for dual booting
