Relock bootloader with TWRP installed. Will it Brick?
Arouraios posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
I've found a lot of conflicting information on ze internet. Does anyone here happen to know wether relocking my bootloader with twrp installed can/will brick my phone? I used to run a custom rom and all but now I'm getting the phone ready to be passed on to someone less tech savy who might want to use Google Pay or similar, which requires a locked bootloader due to recent SafetyNet changes. So, is there any way I can keep TWRP installed and still lock it? I am aware that I won't be able to update or flash unless i unlock again. But until then, can I relock it? Or will the reset brick the device? Please don't just post "that's a stupid question, don't lock" without an answer. I know it's not great, but I am asking if anyone has tried this before. -
So I had this old redmi 4X chilling in the shelf and I wanted to use it...But with a different ROM I have enabled both USB DEBUGGING and OEM UNLOCKING option in the developers option and cross checked if its enabled before entering fastboot I lost my simcard tray...so basically I cannot use the MI UNLOCK TOOL either...... I have tried a lot of stuff from other threads in this forum for this specific phone and nothing seems to help...the same issue arises... have tried commands to enable bootloader , few people have made .bat files which they claim to install TWRP by just using it...nothing seems to help Any help would be nice

So today I bought a used Nexus 6P for the purpose of installing Kali Nethunter on it, and then after some searching I found out that I should root the device first, so I did following this guide using SuperSU, I installed the SuperSU from this website, the phone then hung on the Google logo for like 30 minutes, then I found out that the SuperSU project is dead, I said maybe because it's an older phone the root should work and then I entered recovery mode through TWRP and went to the terminal and I saw the # sign and to make sure I ran the command whoami and it gave me root, and then I read that if I'm stuck in a bootloop I should reflash the ROM that I already have installed, but I said it wouldn't make a difference if I flashed Nethunter, it's a new ROM anyway, and now it's been stuck on the Google logo for another 30 minutes. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Is there a reputable guide on how to install TWRP on the Samsung Galaxy A71? Because all I found was a guide by "Myphoneupdate.com" and I'm not quite sure if they're to trustworthy. I also couldn't find a guide on XDA for this.

Hello, I have this Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE500KL for quite a while now! The only problem is that I wanted to hard reset it. So I did, but unfortunately I have deleted the entire internal memory! The only way I think I could fix it (btw I cannot install any firmware throught twrp) is through zip backup... and I don't have one! If somebody could send me one or help me with this..!? Thank you!

Hi. I've been struggling to get a working version of Cyanogen mod or lineage os on my galaxy tab 2 GT-P5113. I've gone through the works and have gotten both os's on the device but always struggle with getting gapps installed. I used the arm 6.0 nano file and installed it with twrp and still can't get it to work. Usually getting errors and messages like google play has stopped, clock has stopped, etc. If you have any trouble shooting tips or need more info please let me know.

I have managed to end up with my Oneplus 3 and TWRP on it but the stock android is basically not existant anymore. I have only a backup with a wiped /system partition to work with. If possible I would like to keep my data in the backup. Is it possible to somhow flash back a rotex OxygenOS and then merge it with what data is left in the backup. Feel free to ask any question I will try to answer them as good as i can.

The app provided for accessing the option is called indepth testing but it doesn't work on the latest Android 10 update (I think it's for Android 9 and is not yet updated for 10 but who knows how long that might take) and without it I cant find a single way to unlock the bootloader

So I found a custom rom for j3 j320f with android 8.1 . It is based on lineage os and as far as I know it doesn t have many problems. My problem is that I can t install TWRP. Why you ask , the reason is that I can t see my device on fastboot list. When I type " fastboot devices " cmd shows " C:\adb> " . My cable works fine because when I type "adb reboot" my phone reboots. What am I doing wrong. Sorry for my bad english.

Hi, my name is Noah and I'm a very inexperienced mobile modder trying to install a custom ROM to my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (SM-N950U) and I'm stuck at one part of the process. I've read that you can flash a custom ROM using TWRP, so I'm trying to get TWRP installed to my device but I'm having a very stressful issue. I'm around the point where you use Windows command prompt to run adb and fastboot to flash TWRP to the device, but I'm stuck halfway through the process. My device is powered on and connected. I have enabled USB debugging. After running the command "adb devices" my device is listed. I then run "adb reboot bootloader", and that works just fine. My phone successfully boots to download mode. Here's where I'm stuck. I run "fastboot devices" to make sure my device is still connected properly, and nothing shows up. I try running the fastboot flash recovery command anyways and it unsurprisingly does nothing. I researched far and wide across the internet for a solution and so far the consensus is that I'm missing a USB driver that allows fastboot to connect to my device properly, and installing drivers is no big deal to me, but I'm lost as to what to install them to? My device doesn't show up as a "mobile phone" or under the "other devices" dropdown of my Windows device manager, so I don't know where to install the USB driver (which I received from Google's Android developers page.) All I see is some nonsense that doesn't seem to help. If there are any experienced Android modders willing to provide any help or advice, that would be greatly appreciated! I'm really stuck Thanks, Noah

TL;DR I have deleted everything off my phone using TWRP and now I can’t boot back into TWRP (it only automatically boots into fastboot mode). Have I done something wrong? If so, how could I fix it? Details So it’s my first time rooting an android phone and I have run into a problem. I recently bought a Xiaomi Mi 9T and went through the process to unlock and root it, because I wanted to install Lineage OS instead of using MIUI. I started following the LTT tutorial on modding the Poco F1 to look like the Pixel 3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsHtfLh6azw&t=194s – not the Mi 9T, but I think any Xiaomi phone would have pretty much the same process), and it was going fine until you have to download and flash TWRP to the phone. I did it and it worked, and so I booted into TWRP and went to wipe the phone. The LTT video says to only wipe the “Data” portion, but I had read that when wiping a phone there’s no reason not to wipe other stuff as well, so I think I chose to wipe Data, Cache, Dalvik cache, Internal storage and System (it was a brand new phone, so I just wiped everything that made sense to start clean). Well after that I think I rebooted, but when it turned back on it booted straight into fastboot mode. I thought this was weird, but I just held the power button to turn it off (to boot into TWRP again to continue with the install of Lineage OS). Unfortunately, it booted straight back into fastboot mode, and ever since then I haven’t been able to boot into anything else (I can’t even shut it down, every time I hold the power button in it just automatically restarts into fastboot, so I just have to unplug it and wait for it to turn off itself). So I then tried re-flashing TWRP to start the whole process again and to boot back into it, but now I get this error message (see attached image). So my question is; have I done something bad by deleting all of the data and System OS at the same time? I’m worried that I’ve really messed something up by deleting all of the stuff I did, because I’ve read that it’s possible (however unlikely) to brick a phone by using TWRP incorrectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used odin on my Samsung Galaxy A10, to flash twrp. I followed the guide, and ticked EVERY box from the options list (including nand erase and re-partition). Currently, the phone rejects all flash attempts I've tried (check fail device 2 binary 1 is the error I get) Is there anything I can do to recover it, or is it just an expensive-ish paperweight?

Need Help. I tried to install a global rom version of a Redmi note 7 pro and the first time i installed it succeeded. but during the first boot, it was on the redmi logo for a while, after it restarted, it went straight to twrp recovery. when i check the internal storage, all i can see was a bunch folders with randon names. the thing is i forgot to make a backup before installing the rom on twrp. now i did a format data, installed the ROM again and this time it just went straight into twrp. is there a workaround for this? Thanks in advance

Hello there, First of all I'm new here... So I hope this is the right category. ^^ Today I tried to root my Galaxy A5 2016 with the Model Number SM-A510F. My goal was to flash Lineage OS 17 so I can try some sweet Android 10. Unfortunately I was not able to get TWRP working in the first place... It failed after the bootloader mode, even though I switched on USB Debugging and OEM. So I decided to try it with Odin. But even with Odin and my device being in the download mode I was not able to get the TWRP image working. It simply did not install it (Odin even said it was installed successfully, but it didn't. Woops.) After that I tried CF-Auto-Root (https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/). Surprisingly this one actually worked! My device now was rooted. I then decided to give the official TWRP App a try and install the image twrp-3.4.0-0-a7xelte.img directly onto my phone. (I think this is where my error began, I should not have tried this right?) The installation was successful, but I was not able to go into the TWRP recovery mode where I could flash Lineage OS and Gapps... So I selected the "reboot in recovery mode" option in the TWRP App. The device shut down, but then froze in the boot loading screen. Since then I was not able to boot it again. Furthermore I was not even able to get into Samsung own recovery mode from now on (by pressing the home button, power button and volume up). The only mode I actually got working was the download mode, in which I also installed CF-Autoroot in the first place. And now I have no clue how I can get my device working again... I'm not able to boot or even do a factory reset (since I cannot even enter the recovery mode). My PC does not recognize my phone. Only when I turn the download mode on, but then I does not recognize it as "Samsung Galaxy A5", my PC tells me I have connected something different. What should I do now? Should I wait until the battery is empty and then try to reboot it? You guys are my only hope. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I finally rooted my Samsung Core prime G360V, but I want to be able to flash custom ROMs along with being able to hide the root from apps. I don't think my device is supported on TWRP so I can't get a custom recovery for Magisk. I can't get RootCloak because Xposed also doesn't support my device. I switched KingSu for SuperSu and was wondering if I would have could get MagiskSu somehow. (I posted this here instead of XDA because I never get replies there)

Hey guys So, I've recently got my Huawei G Play Mini (aka Honor 4C/CHC-U01/h6210sft/wtv other names this phone has), and I've been trying to flash an unofficial lineageOS ROM onto it with TWRP (3.0.2) and I've been getting some problems, like: The fastboot doesn't allow me to enter many of the commands like fastboot flashing unlock and fastboot oem device-info, due to the error demonstrated below; If I try to flash a ROM through TWRP, it also fails. (it's on the attachments) Here's some info: The smartphone has been upgraded to EMUI 4.0 (Android 6.0); And yes, the bootloader is unlocked (see attachments); The phone is using a P8Lite ROM (which is indeed fully compatible with the phone). Thanks to @TheNuzziNuzz ... for reminding me of this point! So, I wanted to ask for some help, because I really want to get through these "locks". Thanks ahead!

I am trying to flash TWRP recovery on my Xiaomi Redmi 6A. I have always been able to successfully do so in past multiple times on this exact device. I gave this in for a warranty repair, now it is back, they reset everything, so i'm trying to re-flash it but whenever i flash it and try to boot into it all I see is some random colorful lines. Can someone help me figure this out? Thanks in advance.

Ok , so this might seem like a stupid thread , but I have nowhere else to put this. I tried to install a hack for Pokemon Go on my Samsung Galaxy S6, cause I'm lazy like that. Now I installed this app called Xposed and I had to download some modules for the hack to work. I installed them , then I proceeded to reboot into TWRP recovery mode ,flash a custom firmware , it said everything is done , then I rebooted my phone. Now when it reboots all it does is that it shows a SAMSUNG logo flashing and won't turn on. I don't know what to do ? Please help. I do have the uninstaller for the firmware that I just installed , but I don't know how to get to it now.

I'm trying to install cyanogenmod 13 on my GS4 Verizon based on the guide on the Cyanogenmod Wiki. I'm able to root the phone no problem. When I get the step to install the recovery image (twrp) via heimdall I get this string of text. Prior to rooting the device I factory reset it.
