Lately, I have been receiving notifications of new followers when I go and check all of them are bots and I've been getting these bot followers every day now, I am tired of it. They have been tagging me in their posts too. How do i fix this? Also, does this affect my account in any way like not showing my posts to people?

Summary Elon Musk said today on 𝕏 that he is removing the ability to block people (aside from DMs) and that you will only be able to mute people. Quotes My thoughts Part of me wonders if ANY good can come of this. On the one hand we are going to see a LOT more spam and harassment. I don't believe muting someone prevents other people from seeing their reactions to your content and there are going to be a LOT of people who were previously blocked from harassment who will suddenly be able to leave garbage quality posts. On the other hand though, maybe this prevents people from blocking out legitimate criticism to hide the fact that they are scummy? Either way I don't like it. It's not broken so why is he messing with it? Sources https://www.macrumors.com/2023/08/18/twitter-block-option-may-be-removed/

EU opens investigation into X Quotes My thoughts: I am glad that the EU is taking action. This situation with X.com has been an ongoing problem for this year. April (12/04/23) James Clayton from the BBC interviewed Elon on this topic; however James didn`t appear to have done his research beforehand and made a fool of himself. In terms of X, I have also had similar experiences of seeing unnecessary gore and violence on Twitter, such as dead women, children and soldiers, and plenty of misinformation. which is not nice, so I tend to stay off X.com. The same thing has happened, but this time, the EU has seen it. (based on my own experience of using Twitter (x.com) Sources https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-middle-east-67073970

Summary Elon Musk tweeted a video of a flickering 'X' and then in Twitter's voice chat Spaces, confirmed that the iconic blue bird logo would be replaced by the X. This comes after musk acquired Twitter and renamed the company "X Corp", and is likely part of his desire to create a ubiquitous "everything app" for payments, social interactions, chats, etc. similar to China's WeeChat. The change could be enacted as early as tomorrow (Monday 24th of July), "if a good enough X logo is posted". Quotes My thoughts Another day another Musk's Twitter controversy? Apart from the part where nobody could read tweets without signing in, this will probably be the most visible change to Twitter. Some people will likely say that this, this is the final nail in the coffin and everyone will switch, but I honestly doubt it; the users have been through so much, and the mass exodus and immediate downfall never really came to be. I'd love to be wrong though (although ideally not to the benefit of Threads, but that's the most likely). We also need to wait and see if the madlad actually does it. He's made empty promises before, and taken u-turns on big changes like the sign-in-only viewing. But maybe we'll wake up tomorrow, and there will be a barrage of confused tweets about what the new 'X' app is and why it changed. Summary According to Elon Musk, the current CTO of Twitter, Twitter will now be rate-limiting users on the number of posts they can view per day. Quotes My thoughts This is yet another drastic change for Twitter users. For Twitter power users, this change may be devastating. Imagine casually scrolling through your feed only to receive the message, "Sorry, you are rate limited. Please wait a few moments and try again." The only solution to this is being forced to subscribe to Twitter Blue. Sources

What happens is suppose I'm viewing the following page of Elon Musk(as shown in the attached video). We can see that there are a lot of profiles in the list as he followed a lot of people. Now after scrolling down a bit if I click and view a profile and then when I go back, the list reverts back to the top instead of staying where I stopped and looked into a random profile and back. This happens every single time with me whenever the list is longer than my screen size. I've tried this on other phones both android and ios and there wasn't any issue. This issue was there on my previous android phone(Motorola, android order, 4gb ram, snapdragon 430 ig) and is still there in my current phone(xiaomi mi 11 lite ne 5g, android 13, 6gb, snapdragon 730g). Summary Tweetdeck will become unavailable to unverified users on August 2nd, 2023. Quotes My thoughts A recent post by Twitter Support stated that Tweetdeck will be locked behind their "Verified User" paywall. This only allows verified users (who've paid their $8 a month) to use Tweetdeck. According to the tweet, this would become active in 30 days, or on August 2nd, 2023. Is this the straw that will break most unverified Twitter users? Does LTT have a Mastodon instance? Sources

Linus tech team please take down the twomad collab video. After all that has been revealed about what awful person he is, he doesn't deserve the collab video to be up anymore or to be associated with linus.

Some of the videos on Twitter that I could see just fine a few months ago, now are getting corrupted, I think. A part of those videos plays fine, but after I reach a certain point, they just hang and show the buffering sign. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a fix maybe? My faith in Elon is going negatives actually. The future of Twitter is definitely dead .

Summary Twitter's CEO announced on March 27th that only verified accounts AKA Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to vote in polls. To be shown in the "For You" recommendations will also require a verified account. All these changes are allegedly "to address advanced AI bot swarms" and will take effect on April 15th. Quotes My thoughts How do other platforms manage to fight bots? Is a captcha no longer a viable option? Looking popular features behind a paywall will not make Twitter more attractive or profitable. This could just accelerate the demise of Twitter. Edit: Since a blue checkmark shows that you are verified and new users have to wait 90 days to receive a blue checkmark, how is this going to work? Are you now automatically verified if you have Twitter Blue and the impersonation spam is back on the menu? Summary Clubhouse, the hit audio chat room app, which recently hit a 1 bn dollar evaluation, has a new competitor in Social media major, Twitter. Until now, clubhouse was only available for iOS users. Now, Twitter is rolling out it's clubhouse competitor, spaces to Android users(Spaces beta for iOS already exists). It now seems that Twitter and clubhouse are entering the war for the best audio chats. Clubhouse has promised an android app, but the only way to access it right now is through an unofficial app, on GitHub. Quotes My thoughts Twitter is currently 'uncool' and Clubhouse is all about the coolness. However the tight integration with Twitter means that jumping and using spaces will be much easier. The android release, though still limited, amps up the heat in this segment. I expect to see Mr. Zuckerberg and co. to throw in the towel themselves. Currently, there is no stopping the clubhouse juggernaut. It can be the start of another social media empire(clubhouse), additional ammo for twitter, or maybe Facebook getting more control. Hi I am working on Twitter extraction project for College. I am using Tweepy API. The project statement is as follows: Customer Analytics of an Electronics company • Since the company also wants to start their operations in a new location , they want you to do a Sentiment analysis(Positive or Negative) of their competitors such as: 1. Amazon 2. Walmart 3. BestBuy Perform the below steps 1. Extract twitter data for each of the competitors (Min tweets per competitors - 3000) 2. Remove stop words and Perform positive and negative tweet analysis. 3. Create a word-cloud 4. Analyse for which products what are the sentiments. Currently the API seems to have some restriction on extraction of tweets and my developer account has exhausted it's llimit. I cannot keep my system on all the time since electricity is an issue in my area. Is there a way you can suggest. Like some sort of cloud service which might help by running virtually. I do have Google credits 100$. Total tweets atleast 9000 The code I have compiled is working fine

Summary After deciding to not join the Board of Twitter after buying a 9% stake in the social media company. In a change of events, Elon Musk has offered to wholly buy the company for over 40Billion USD. Quotes My thoughts In a non-shock of being a major market disrupter in at times questionable and fineable actions, I guess running a Car Manufacturer and leading a company at the forefront of space exploration that one would get bored of it. That all being said, It's just getting rather annoying at the increasingly minimal competitive nature of the market with everything being owned by a small majority of companies and entities. It sadly can see this going though, but sadly with the cult he has around himself, I can see the platform degrading in a more so rapid fashion. Yay Capitalism I guess... Summary Twitter recently announced that only Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to use text message 2FA. Claiming possible abuse of the system for the reason of limiting to paid users only. Found out when I opened the app this morning and was prompted to remove or change my 2FA method. The use of physical security keys or authentication apps will still be allowed. Unsure whether text message 2FA can still be used as a backup. Quotes My thoughts I feel like the reasoning behind the change feels a bit like BS, essentially saying oh you need to pay for the service to use a less secure 2FA process. I personally use text as I often forget about moving or disabling 2FA on my devices before resetting my phone or upgrading. It also seems that text won’t be able to be used in situations where you don’t have access to your physical key or authentication app. I feel this may leave some users less protected if they don’t want to have to go out and get a security key or start using an authentication app. Sources https://blog.twitter.com/en_us/topics/product/2023/an-update-on-two-factor-authentication-using-sms-on-twitter

So I lost track on when did it start happening, but since then the connection to Twitter in particular - regardless on whichever client I use - drops to virtually unusable levels. Text-based content loads normally but seemed to be slower than normal (I didn't have a baseline to compare against). *All* medias - videos, photos, GIFs, are having a hard time to load because it's stuck at 20-50KB/s, 99% of the time. Same happened on Chrome, Edge (without plugins) for PC, Samsung Internet & Twitter app for my phone. I've tried pinging to one of the servers (104.244.42.66:443, as seen above) and it returned me an unusually high latency (more than 500ms, however no packet drops whatsoever). If I ping on www.twitter.com (IP auto-assigned), it returns me with ~300ms (however I didn't see any active connections using that particular IP while pinging). Google returned me ~50ms, while Facebook returned me with ~130ms. Is there any kind of problem from my side that is causing this?

Right, i want to convert my account to just an email and password login, instead of logging in via twitter. On some forums, you can simply unlink twitter and it will ask you to pick a username and password, here i get this: Sorry, there is a problem You cannot disassociate Twitter because you have no other method of signing in. Error code: 1C122/I Is there any way to do this? i'm happy to keep my username but i would like to set an individual password, and unlink from twitter. - Norman

To use the twitter bot mention or tweet @trigger_me_bot on Twitter. This bot is an implementation of a project I am working on for my final year project on an engineering degree. Code for the main project and the bot found here I'm more than happy to answer any questions or take suggestions, apologies in advance for my awful (lack of) naming convention and code style that is the result of me hacking this project together for now. Update 26/02/17 The bot now uses proper machine learning in the form of latent semantic analysis and a support vector machine classifier. Give it a go here https://twitter.com/trigger_me_bot

Not sure if this is really news except for in the shear scale of the net... According to a BBC Tech Article, UK Researchers accidently uncovered large networks of bots on Twitter while probing how people use it. The largest so far appears to consist of over 350,000 accounts. According to the article at: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-38724082 "The network of 350,000 bots stood out because all the accounts in it shared several subtle characteristics that revealed they were linked. These included: tweets coming from places where nobody lives messages being posted only from Windows phones almost exclusively including quotes from Star Wars novels It was "amazing and surprising" to discover the massive networks, said Dr Shi Zhou, a senior lecturer from UCL who oversaw Mr Echeverria's research." It seems like botnets like these, and the article mention it, could be used to advance one particular narrative above others... It may be interesting to see who is actually using these nets and how/what narrative and opinions they may be pushing out through Twitter. Of course it could also be used to advance political opinion by trying to make it seem more popular than actual numbers would say. I guess my question to the group would be what is a good use for a Twitter Botnet like these? Is there a good use? By extension, is there a good use for these kinds of bots, especially if they can be subverted for a malicious purpose?
