  1. Hello everyone! Recently I upgraded my ancient desktop. I got an Asus Maximus IX Apex motherboard for the new build. About two weeks I lost all audio from the line-out (green) jack on the motherboard. I tried everything: - Reinstalled the device (which shows up just fine in the device manager). - Rebooted into my Linux installation. - Tried a Linux live USB. - Reset the BIOS. - Used the 2nd BIOS. - Updated both ROMs. Nothing procured any results. The weird thing is that the sound card detects which ports are connected/disconnected and outputs audio just fine in the front panel. I RMA'd the board, but the tech department of eshop.gr stated that the sound card worked just fine. This is driving me crazy. I can't think of anything else. Can you, please, help? ------- UPDATE 0: The front jack stopped working too.
  2. Hi guys. So basically on my newly built pc I have a buzzing noise from my gpu. It only happens under certain loads and happens at anything above 50fps. I have already replaced the psu three times and the gpu twice and I get the exact same noise still. I'm not curious if you guys think this could be a motherboard or cpu setting problem? I'm adiment that isn't coil my video as both the gigabyte g1 1080 and asus rog strix 1070 make the exact sound under exact conditions. I also swapped my psu for a different make an although the sound was slightly quieter it still had the sound. My setup is: Ryzen 7 1700 Msi b350 Tomahawk Arctic Asus rog strix 1070 Ballistic ram 16gb 2400 Evga g2 650w gold+ Now I know people have issues with power saving options etc especially on Intel so could there be a hidden setting on Ryzen that could be causing the issue? I've tried some of the settings and power settings but not sure if i have all of them. Ive also got the most up to date bios. Or maybe I should now just try replacing the mobo? I've heard the msi b350s can be crap. Thanks guys.
  3. I asked this question yesterday too but i didnt get alot of replies. i guess my description was too messy to understand as i was also confused what the problem was. so what i own is a GTX 660 that i bought used few months back. it worked perfectly fine until yesterday when i tried to launch a game the monitor lost signal after the loading screen. The game was Ryse son of rome and i have played this game in my system many times. so i dont think its a problem with the game. after losing signal i turned the PC off and tried rebooting and i didnt even get signal during the post screen. tried restarting several times and nothing.PC boots up but i get no signal. i took the GPU off and tried booting it with onboard gpu and i got signal for that and the PC booted up normal. i tried cleaning the PC as it was a bit dusty inside and i have also taken apart the gpu and in it was also a considerable amount of dust. i cleaned that off, add new thermal paste and put it back together and my PC didnt even turn on this time. i switched to onboard gpu and still nothing.i suspected that it was the PSU so i took it off gave it to my dad to try it at his office and he tried it on one of those computers and it has booted without any issue. i did try booting my own PC from my old PSU and my old GT 610 and that works, so it cant be the motherboard. im really puzzled what the issue is. if someone could suggest me an idea it would be very helpful.thanks My specs: Core 2 quad Q8400 8gb ram GTX 660 EVGA 600W PSU Asrock G41m S3 mobo

  6. Okay so my display shows this as in the attached files, this has happened earlier but I just restart my computer and it worked but now even with restart it doesn't work.shows this after coming to desktop screen, few times I noticed it said the AMD drivers are not responding and restarting and the remotelanwakeup of Asus also showing errors.. sometimes it also shows just on satrtup after the bios menu. Now I have uninstalled both and reinstalling AMD drivers So I need to know is this the drivers or my GPU is starting to give up on me ?? 🤔
  7. I've just built a new gaming pc for a friend, including a Ryzen 5 1600, an Asus B350M-A, 16 gb (4x4 kit) Corsair LPX ram, a GTX 1070 and so on. Now the building process itself was pretty smooth, but I realized a couple of things when firing it up for the first time. 1. The board correctly detected 4 sticks of ram and they showed up in the advanced settings menu of the bios, but the displayed size of the ram was just 8 gb instead of 16 gb. What may be the cause? 2. The chip was running on seemingly very high voltage out of the box (1.345 v). Is that normal for a Ryzen chip? Thanks for your help!
  8. I'm having a weird problem that just doesn't make any sense to me, and I came here hoping someone could offer me some info on this. So I got a brand new MSI B350m Gaming Pro with a Ryzen 1200 (also new). When I turn on the PC while it's in the case, it doesn't post, but all the fans are spinning and it won't turn off until I turn off the power supply itself. When I try it outside of the case, it actually boots up into Windows, but it wouldn't let me log in as it didn't show the Password box when I tried to log in. I have no idea what could be causing the post issue, and I just took out my cmos battery for a bit to see if that'll fix the log in problem (this problem persisted when I put my i3 back in), so after class I'm going to see if that worked. Current Working Specs: Mobo: Gigabyte H110M-A CPU: i3 6100 RAM: 2x 4gb G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 (rated 3000) GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1050ti HDD: 1tb WD Black Caviar PSU: Corair CX550M semi modular PSU Case: SAMA Maxcool mATX Newer Parts (Problem Parts): Mobo: MSI B350m Gaming Pro CPU: Ryzen 1200 I can provide a video of the problems if more visual detail is needed. Edit: The whole password box not showing this is fixed after a quick system restore
  9. My mother board have a red light near the RAM and my screen doesn’t boot up. I have Dell monitor and Samsung monitor Dell one connect with DisplayPort and another one with HDMI Dell one doesn’t boot up and it said “DisplayPort entering power save and the power button goes orange. My PC specs is: Motherboard:Asus Rog Strix Z270E CPU:Intel Core i5-7600 @3.50GHz 4 cores RAM:DDR4 8GB Vengeance x2 GPU: GTX 1050Ti SSD:Kingston UV400 240GB HDD:I dunno Power supply:I dunno BIOS version /date: America Megatrends Inc. 0505,11/8/2016
  10. I just upgraded from an Asus A88X-Pro board to an Asus B350-F Gaming board. Needed the new socket for the Ryzen 7 1700X I just got. I previously had the OS installed on 2 Samsung EVO SSD's in a Raid 0 array, so I know the drives are good. The previous version of windows on was not recoverable so I formatted the drives and created a new Raid 0 array. However, when installing windows none of my drives are recognized, but they can be seen in BIOS. I have tried to update the latest Asus raid drivers through a USB but when I load them I am told they are not compatible with my computer's hardware, I can still install them but too no avail. I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with Asus support to only be elevated to a higher level but I may not hear from them for a couple of days. Here's what I have done to trouble shoot the problem so far: Update BIOS to latest version SATA settings in BIOS are set to Raid Tried installing with CSM enabled and disabled Tried installing without the raid array (after removing it and setting SATA to AHCI), which recognized the individual drives but windows installer said they are not formatted correctly for use. I do not know of anyway to change their format through BIOS. Has anyone had a similar problem? I have not found much on the web about this specific type of issue. It appears to me that I need to format the drives to a compatible version in order for the update to be compatible. I will try any and all ideas you may have so just throw them out. I hope someone can help!
  11. As the title says, When I hit the power button, it flicks the LED's on, but then immediatly shuts off. I need to flip the power supply off and on to try again. It started off with randomly shutting down, and I would have to do that process a couple of times and it would turn on again, but now it's just completely unbootable. It's been doing this only over the past couple days, and I have no idea what's causing it. I made sure all the power cables are properly plugged in, and that there are no screws loose in the case. It's a relatively new build, and also my first, so I'm not sure whay could have gone wrong. Specs: Asus ROG Strix Gtx 1080 Intel i7 7700k Noctua NH-D15 MSI z270-a pro motherboard 8gb corsair vengeance LPX ram EVGA 600 B1 psu I did some overclocking, but I took good care to keep the temps under check so I really don't think anything burned out. I would really appreciate any possibilities so I can get back to gaming ASAP.
  12. I built myself a gaming PC about 6 months ago, having finally saved enough to afford the components. It's worked well until recently. The computer has had issues while trying to POST. I've tried everything I can think of, running only one stick of RAM, resetting BIOS, and so forth. The whole computer seems to be power cycling, no matter what I do. The lights on my GPU blink on and off. My hardware: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Daedalusspacegames/saved/g84Ff7
  13. Help! Pretty sure my PSU just died

Link to original problem: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/845029-help-update-it-broke-again-and-im-confused-again-my-computer-broke-in-a-new-and-infuriating-way/ TL;DR it was powering up for a few seconds then turning off, then turning itself back on, and again and again. Was plugged into the UPS, then plugged it into the wall and it worked fine. Today: It's not working fine! Still plugged into the wall, still having the same problem. Has my PSU just died? Or is it some other component that I'm not thinking of?
  14. So I've had my Ryzen 7 1700 build for about 6 weeks now, originally I did not overlock it until about 2 weeks ago when I got a big air cooler, the Cryorig R1 Universal. Anyways, now with a better cooler I dialed in a 4.0GHz overclock @ 1.380V, and I had zero issues. System stability was perfect and I passed all my stress tests with very low thermals. Then two days ago I boot my computer and it said that I am only at 10% OC instead of the 33% (previously), so I head into my bios and sure enough it is set to 3.3GHz instead of the 4.0. Now every time I try to manually set it to 4.0GHz my motherboard resets it to 3.3 every time and I can't push past that. Am I missing something? I always go through standard route of advanced settings > manual mode > set my core ratio to 40.00 > change Cpu voltage to 1.380V > verify dRAM is set to the frequency I want (2933MHz) > adjust dRAM voltage to 1.350V, and from there it has always worked. Also, my BIOS was updated about 4 days after my OC of 4.0GHz was already established, and it worked for this past week no problems so I am speculative as to whether or not the bios is in fact the issue. Any suggestions? Specs -CPU: Ryzen 7 1700 -Motherboard : Asus Crosshair VI Hero Wi-Fi, w/ bios version 1501 -RAM: Corsair Vengeance LED 2x16GB 3000MHz -GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 SC2 iCX Gaming 8GB -Boot Drive: WD Black Series 512Gb m.2 NVME SSD -OS: Windows 10 Pro Thanks in advanced!
  15. Hi guys,I've been using windows 10 on my desktop for couple of months now, it was running smoothly. But for the past few day I've been getting BSOD. I did my research and narrowed it down to windows update, outdated BIOS or outdated graphics driver. First I reset my pc but the problem still was there so then I got the latest BIOS update(my motherboard is gigabyte ab350-gaming 3) and also got the latest graphics driver from Nvidia(my card is GTX 1060 6gb). But even after all this, I'm still facing BSOD. So, I installed bluescreenview and got the following: 101017-4578-01.dmp 10-Oct-17 11:46:20 PM MEMORY_MANAGEMENT 0x0000001a 00000000`00041201 ffff9f00`b9313d40 81000002`6cb56867 ffffa202`7d6068f0 ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.exe+16c580 NT Kernel & System Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Microsoft Corporation 10.0.15063.674 (WinBuild.160101.0800) x64 ntoskrnl.exe+16c580 C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\101017-4578-01.dmp 12 15 15063 726,084 10-Oct-17 11:47:13 PM 101017-5578-01.dmp 10-Oct-17 11:16:40 PM MEMORY_MANAGEMENT 0x0000001a 00000000`00041201 ffffd680`bf295980 87000002`6c8ac867 ffffa68a`4651eaa0 ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.exe+16c580 NT Kernel & System Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Microsoft Corporation 10.0.15063.674 (WinBuild.160101.0800) x64 ntoskrnl.exe+16c580 C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\101017-5578-01.dmp 12 15 15063 786,980 10-Oct-17 11:17:27 PM 101017-4937-01.dmp 10-Oct-17 11:01:18 PM APC_INDEX_MISMATCH 0x00000001 00007ffa`bc9b5804 00000000`00000000 00000000`0000ffff ffff9a81`7b1ceb80 ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.exe+16c580 NT Kernel & System Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Microsoft Corporation 10.0.15063.674 (WinBuild.160101.0800) x64 ntoskrnl.exe+16c580 C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\101017-4937-01.dmp 12 15 15063 710,244 10-Oct-17 11:02:11 PM 101017-4609-01.dmp 10-Oct-17 10:33:52 PM PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050 ffff922d`50852ca0 00000000`00000000 ffff920a`ec8ce311 00000000`00000002 hal.dll hal.dll+1c986 Hardware Abstraction Layer DLL Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Microsoft Corporation 10.0.15063.502 (WinBuild.160101.0800) x64 ntoskrnl.exe+16c580 C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\101017-4609-01.dmp 12 15 15063 822,036 10-Oct-17 10:34:26 PM 101017-4640-01.dmp 10-Oct-17 10:06:15 PM BAD_POOL_HEADER 0x00000019 00000000`0000000e ffff8b0a`ff9b80a0 ae9bd5df`9b762051 ae9bd5df`bb762051 ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.exe+16c580 NT Kernel & System Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Microsoft Corporation 10.0.15063.674 (WinBuild.160101.0800) x64 ntoskrnl.exe+16c580 C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\101017-4640-01.dmp 12 15 15063 780,668 10-Oct-17 10:06:45 PM P.S: I also ran a memory test using the windows memory diagnostic tool but found no errors.Please help me resolve this issue.Thank you all, looking forward for your answers.

  17. so im running an AMD A10 7800 APU with the stock cooler. and recently ive been noticing some weird behaviour in games. where it sometimes can and sometimes CANT handle AI calculations. now the only game i play that is demanding on the CPU is warframe. in the game there are 4 factions. my CPU is fine on 2 factions (corpus and grineer) and sometimes struggles with the other 2 (corrupted and infested). i thought this was due to thermal throttling so i decided to run an AIDA64 stresstest. after half an hour under full load the CPU was sitting at a toasty..... 36 degrees C. which shouldnt be possible with a stock cooler... note that this isnt a wraith cooler as the PC is already 2 years old. its an old style stock cooler similar to the ones intel uses. so this left me with 2 questions: 1: why is my CPU giving off superlow temps and 2: why is my CPU sometimes struggling with AI at random moments? so i took to the LTT forums to ask some people (you. the reader) what they might think of this. and here i am. so does anyone know what might be wrong and how to check it or fix it?
  18. Help: USB's keep cutting out

hello all, I'm new to the forum, finally joined because hopefully someone can help. My USB's cut out randomly on my PC. Everything plugged in switches off that's plugged in then come back on about 5 seconds later. this becomes very annoying when playing a game or recording a video. I have a ASUS® RAMPAGE V EXTREME/U3.1: E-ATX, HSW-E CPU, USB 3.0, SATA 6 GB/s motherboard and alot of things plugged in to the USB's. is there a way to tell what/why it is doing this? whether the motherboard cant handle pushing the power to the devices. thanks for any help. Martin
  19. I recently lost the viability of a pair of hybrid drives and have had to switch to a standard drive and a brand new m.2 ssd, but when I tried to boot from the bios it doesn't read the m.2 at all! Please help me! I am eager to reinstall my programs and get back to work!
  20. Hey there! I recently built my new AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X system. It's been a complete disaster though. CPU: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X @ Stock GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Lighning X RAM: 2 sets of 32GB @ 2800Mhz @ 16-16-16-38 (G.Skill Trident Z RGB F4-3200C16Q-32GTZR) MOBO: Asus ROG Zenith Extreme (BIOS 0503) CPU COOLER: NZXT Kraken X62 USB HUB: NZXT USB Hub BOOT DRIVE: Samsung 960 EVO 500GB (Samsung NVM Express 2.2) PSU: Corsair AX860 LIGHTING: NZXT Hue+ FAN HUB: NZXT Grid+ V2 CAPTURE CARD: Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro OS: English Version 1703 Build 15063.540 64-Bit CAM: 3.3.5 GRAPHICS: 385.41 Right now I have two issues. I would greatly appreciate any help! 1. Something is going on with my USBs. One of them is showing "Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration)". This was after connecting my HTC Vive (which has always worked perfectly and currently functions as intended). I have already tried using a different USB cable, but it gave the same error. I have tried installing new USB drivers (which for AMD you have to do manually), but it doesn't seem to either install correctly or make a difference. Please see attached an overview of my USB Device Manager. What should I change? 2. Something is also going on in the BIOS. I have an extremely long BIOS time of around 45 seconds. Before installing the HTC Vive this was about 30 seconds. Fast Boot is both disabled in the BIOS and in Windows (this only slowed the system down). As I said help is greatly appreciated! I depend on this PC for doing my job, so I would really love to fix it. Big thanks in advance!
  21. Hi After a while of gathering used stuff (some new) I managed to complete my PC build. As I went to turn it on, I see red light indicating that something isn't right with RAM. PC isn't starting at all, just plain red light if RAM is in DDR4_1_ slot If there isn't RAM stick in first slot, CPU and RAM icons are randomly blinking and ventilator on PC is turning ON/OFF, after 10 seconds it restarts and do it again. My specs are: Gigabyte GA-H270-HD3 (Used) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2666MHz c16 cmk16gx4m4a2666c16r - (usualy comes in 4x4gb pack; but I bought 2x4gb (used) Intel Pentium g4560 (New) MSI GeForce GTX 970 (Used) Antec NeoEco Classic NE550C (New) Can this be caused by ram being at 2666MHz, while MBO/CPU support 2400MHz. I tried using just one stick of ram, every slot, different combinations. I tried restarting BIOS, (don't know if it worked or not, since I can't access it) Yes, I checked if I placed RAM correctly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  22. Can't Find My Server On My Network

I have a server running Windows Server 2008r2, I got a free copy from my brother-in-law, and it is not detected on my network. My network consists of my desktop, laptop, and server. I can access shares on my server by opening "Run" and typing "\\ServerName". I did some reading up on how to enable Network Discovery in Windows Server 08 (which is automatically disabled) and followed the steps of going into Windows Services and enabling UPnP, SSDP, and DNS client. I'm trying to enable network discovery mainly because I'm going to use Renderpal V2 to render animations from my pc to the server over the network. Thank you for any help, mah nerds
  23. Here is a link to my entire setup: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Batman808401/saved/JxTK8d All parts are from my old setup which is nearly 6 months old except for the motherboard, CPU, and RAM Here's the problem: As of right now, I'm am using this computer to make this post, however, I am afraid to turn it off. Whenever I turn off my PC, it'll only take minutes of powering off and on and mashing the reset button to get it up and running again. Once it starts, everything seems and feels normal. The weird thing is that I can put my PC to sleep and turn it on again no problem. How I get it working and observations: The first time I power on my PC, it is most likely to fail on successfully booting up so I've sequentially listed how I get my PC up and running like normal starting on unsuccessful boot: FIRST STEP - ON UNSUCCESSFUL BOOT: Case fans and LEDs work, Wraith Spire fan and AMD LED ONLY (not the ring) work, GPU LED and fans work, onboard CPU debugging LED lights up, onboard RAM detection LEDs are on, onboard GPU detection LED is not on, and finally: all other onboard LEDs are off and no display on monitor. SECOND STEP - HALF SUCCESSFUL BOOT: After a period of powering my PC on and off, the previous conditions still apply including no display to the monitor, however, onboard aesthetic LEDs turn on including the Wraith Spire cooler ring LED. This is the point where I start pressing the reset button on my case in 10-second intervals. Also, note that the onboard CPU debug LED is still on at this point. SUCCESSFUL BOOT: Finally, the onboard CPU debug LED turns off and onboard GPU detection LED turns on and monitor detects the source. Everything appears to be working as it should such as LEDs, hardware, etc. Once I'm done using my PC, I power it off like it should be only for me to come back needing to use it again and having to repeat this process for an average of 10 minutes. My conclusion/possible issues: The motherboard is highly unstable as far as detecting the CPU and GPU and not completely powering on, on initial startup. I thought it could be anything else such as the power, CPU, or GPU but is highly unlikely since they are crucial to keep the PC functioning properly and so far, I have not had any crashes or other hardware issues. I can enter sleep mode and power back on successfully. I'm really considering declaring this motherboard DOA and sending it back for a new one but that is the last thing I want to do. What I've tried: Updating BIOS to the latest version: 7A32v15 (see https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X370-GAMING-PRO-CARBON.html#down-bios in Download > BIOS section) Checking for loose cables such as power, case, and fan headers Checking if all parts are secured and connected physically and from the BIOS I haven't tried the reset CMOS button because it is a brand new motherboard and I haven't changed any major settings PLEASE REPLY IF: YOU'RE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH NEWER MOTHERBOARDS WITH AM4 CHIPSETS; ESPECiALLY IF YOU HAVE THE SAME MOTHERBOARD; HAVE SOLUTIONS/TROUBLESHOOTING SUGGESTIONS; ANY OTHER QUESTIONS REGARDING MY SITUATION; IF I MUST MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THIS POST IN FAVOR OF PROFFETIONAL REVIEW AND DOCUMENTATION;
  24. Hello all fellow tech enthusiasts, I present today a conundrum. My gaming/workstation rig has been randomly shutting down for a while now. The specs are as follows Intel i5 6600 CPU Corsair RM550x PSU B150m Plus D3 Motherboard from ASUS (All Fan Headers used) Windows 10 v1703 Gigabyte GTX 1050Ti Storage 480GB SSD 2x 4TB Seagate 5900RPM drives 1x 2TB 2.5 inch Seagate Drive 2x Blu-Ray Burners 4x4GB Kingston HyperX RAM Information gleaned from troubleshooting: Not heat related. CPU and GPU are all running quite cool, well below thermal throttling points. Not related to RAM. Ran a full suite on it with memtest86. Zero errors. System is stable in UEFI. Only when in Windows does the power loss occur. (And sometimes it only gets to the boot logo) When a failure occurs, system will sometimes power back on, then off after a second after that multiple times.before successfully starting. My system only draws ~160W under full load, but I wanted the silent feature of my current PSU and good futureproofing for the future. Troubleshooting done thus far: Reseated 24Pin Power. Flipped PSU orientation Ran sfc /scannow to eliminate Windows corruption. No integrity violations Safe mode appears to be stable. When running WIndows, HWINFO64 reports good voltages. No overclocking has been done, all components are running at stock speeds. ASUS anti-surge kept triggering before, and I later disabled it due to reading online it can be overly sensitive. I'd hate for it to be a malfunctioning PSU, especially coming out of a brand like Corsair. However, I have kept all my purchase dockets and are well within my warranty period.
  25. Hey guys, i really need your help here. I was in class today and my laptop (a Dell Latitude E5450) just suddenly powered off). At first i thought it might have been out of battery so when i got home i plugged it in and waiting for around an hour. I hit the power button, the LED around it turned on, no fans or screen functioned, and it just turned right back off. I’ve tried the common fix of removing the battery supply and reconnecting it, as well as removing it, and the power outlet, holding down the button for 15-30 seconds, plugging it in, turning it on and then inserting the battery. i need this laptop for my classes it is very important and the closest tech place takes 3 days to repair so i figured i’d ask you guys and take a shot hoping you can help...
