  1. Hello, could someone please explain why my RAM frequency remains at 2133MHz even though I have 3200MHz RAM? Here are my system specifications: Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II (https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-wifi-ii-model/) CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X RAM: G.Skill 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 (https://www.gskill.com/product/165/166/1536654268/F4-3200C16D-16GTZR) I have 2x16GB RAM sticks installed in the correct slots according to the motherboard manual. In the BIOS, the RAM frequency is set to "Auto" (default). Thanks in advance.
  2. Greetings, I wanted to discuss a couple of things with you experts in this post and would like to have your opinions. 1. PSU and GPU Compatibility: I own a Corsair RM850e (2023 version, comes with a 12vhpwr cable) fully modular PSU which I have paired with my MSI RTX 3090 Suprim X. I have it plugged in and the system seems to work, I just wanted to understand something from the safety and stability point of view. The RM850e comes with only 4x points for CPU/PCIe (2 each) with 2x EPS cables (both of which are taken by my Z790-H Motherboard) and 1x 6+2 PCIe and 1x 6+2 with a pig-tail 6+2 connector, the 3090 however has 3x PCIe connector points. I have noticed some markers going online mentioning that it is best to not use a pig-tail connector on high power draw cards, and the 3090 is rated at 420w consumption. My question is, is the setup of this GPU with 2x dedicated and 1x pig-tail connections to the PSU safe enough to not catch fire? (I don't care much about getting every drop of performance out of it). If it is unsafe, what should be my steps forwards? Can I make this system work as it is? or do I need to undervolt the GPU? 2. DDR5 RAM Compatibility: I built the system up and did a Bench Test, which went well, however, during the BIOS update from v1202 to v1501 for the Asus ROG Strix Z790-H Gaming WiFi motherboard, the system did not post with the DRAM orange light solid. I flashed the other versions of the BIOS into the board, which sometimes worked, but not for long. I started troubleshooting and the system posted with 1 RAM stick removed from the 2. This lead me to a Reddit trail where the user mentioned that the RGB on the RAM stick was so much that it did not boot without the XMP enabled. So, upon trial of: removing one RAM stick > booting the PC > updating the BIOS > enabling the XMP > installing the other RAM stick, the system started working completely fine. The RAM here is G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32, 16x2, DDR5 6000. SPECS: Intel i7 14700k | Noctua NH-D15s | Asus Strix Z790-H Gaming WiFi | G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32 | MSI RTX 3090 Suprim X 24G | Adata XPG Gammix S70 Blade 1+2TB | Corsair RM850e 2023 | Corsair iCUE 4000X Hope to have your expert views and recommendations on the above topics! Thank you.
  3. Hey all, Just wanna put it out there because TECHNICALLY my config shouldn't work due to height clearance (170mm vs 176mm). Once assembled I have probably around a paper's width of clearance left between the glass and top of the cooler. (!)Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow (!)Ram: Trident-Z Neo 3600Mhz 16GB x 2 (!)CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Other stuff: CPU: Ryzen 3700x Motherboard:Aorus X570 Pro Wifi GPU: 3080 Amp Holo PSU: Seasonic TX-1000 Gold Storage: Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB + 2 x 250 Samsung 840 evo + 1 TB WD Black. Fans: Back: 120mm NH-F12 LTT Top: 140mm NH-A14 Chromax Front 2 x 140mm NH-A14 Hopefully it will help others when researching parts. I was prepared to swap the front CPU fan with a 120mm fan if it hits the case window. P/S: Pardon the crappy pictures. Crappy lighting due to rona.
  4. I’m building my new PC and I tested to see if everything lit up and one of my ram sticks won’t light up. What’s wrong? Note: this is an MSI B550 mobo that’s going to be paired with a 5600x when it arrives
  5. I am trying to get a 5900x and pair it with a MSI x570 tomahawk mobo. I have been comparing the G.skill trident Z RGB vs the Crucial Ballistix RGB both are CL16 3600 is there any real difference? Both seem to be on the support memory list
  6. Hey there, i just bought a new PC. Unfortunately I can’t return my purchased Parts. When booting up I don’t get into Bios and the Dram EzDebug LED lights up. All fans are running and to turn off the pc I need to press the power button for like 6 seconds. Mainboard: MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X stock Ram: 2x 8GB G.Skill TridentZ 3600Mhz CL16 (F4-3600C16D-16GTZ) Things I’ve done: 1. Installed latest Bios with USB-Flash 2. tried one dim in all slots 3. tried all dims in all combinations I can’t test other ram now because I don’t have any DDR4 or Motherboard around. The website says the RAM is not supported. Can I somehow boot it up anyway and set the settings manually? Greetings! :)
  7. Hey guys, Just finished putting together my new rig. First time using AMD over Intel. I'm running into an issue with the memory frequency. Never had any issues with Intel (mobo's) before. It's probably easy to fix, though i've never tampered with any manual bios settings. Here it goes: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro (no wifi!) AMD 5900x CPU TridentZ Neo 3600hz CL18 64gb (2x32gb) Bios version F31o - 12/3/2020 (latest version) - XMP-profile enabled in Bios. No other changes in the Bios. Frequency in Bios shows 2667hz. Frequency in CPU-Z shows the same: Max Bandwith is set to 2666, which is incorrect. Any suggestions how to get the memory to run at 3600hz? Thanks in advance.
  8. Hello, I have a system that I am using for blender work which is struggling in scenes with multiple lights. I am looking at an upgrade in the near future (GPU + CPU) but for now I am trying to get a little more out of the hardware I have. Gigabyte B550i Aorus Pro AX Mini-Itx Ryzen 5600X (@ 4.5GHz all cores 1.28V) TridentZ 64GB (dual channel) 3600 cas 18 Galax GTX 1070Ti Sniper White I have clocked the 5600X to 4.5GHz at 1.28V, which improved benchmarks and increased the average frequency of the processor (which before was mostly peaking around 4.2GHz for short periods). I have played with the RAM a little, but this board is not friendly when the RAM timings are not right, and takes a while to get back to the bios. I have two questions: 1. I would like to try a multicore overclock and hopefully get 4.7-4.8 on one or two cores. Could someone could point me in the direction of a good tutorial for per core overclocking - although maybe not possible with my board? 2. What is the best way to approach RAM overclocking with ryzen, should I use the ryzen ram calculator that was floating around a few years ago?
  9. So this is my first ever PC build I've ever been able to put together. Over the years I have owned various computers where i either installed a graphics card or I bought a laptop with gaming capability. I've been gaming since I was 10 or so my first real PC game I played was called G-NOME which was a Mechwarrior like game that came with my grandma's windows 95 PC. I've waited so many years to finally build my rig. I think i did alright for my First PC My build list is: PC: Lian Li Razer designed case Gigabyte X 570 Gaming X mobo Ryzen 7 3700X 8 core processor Power Color AMD Radeon Rx 5700 XT GPU 32 GB 3200 MHz Ram tiergrade 7 port USB 3.0 expansion card 6 thermaltake RGB Plus 12 Fans(razer chroma connect enabled of course) Peripherals: 1 LG 144hz HDR gaming monitor 2 25 inch ultra wide monitors(had these a number of years now) Razer Huntsman Elite Ultimate Razer Basilisk V2 wired Razer Naga Chroma Razer Orbweaver Chroma Razer Goliathus Chroma Razer Firefily Razer Wolverine Ultimate controller Razer Nari Elite Razer Base station Chroma
  10. Hello guys, I am looking for a RAM upgrade right now and I need your help. Right now I'm running a ryzen 1600 (3.8Ghz OC) on a Strix B350-F. I'd like to upgrade from my 2x4GB 2400 kit to something faster with more capacity. While searching, I came across a 16GB 3000 kit of G.Skill Trident Z neo and I love it. Model No: G.SKILL F4-3000C16D-16GTZN Will this run with my existing hardware? I heard that my platform is (or was?) a little picky with RAM and I'd like to hear your opinion/experiences before pulling the trigger. Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi, I have 16gb of tridentZ rgb CL16-18-18-38, I'm new to the whole timing thing and overclocking but my ram seems to be running at 2133 after enabling XMP. could anyone help me with overclocking the ram in mhz to something more like 2500-2600? also could I have help figuring out timings and how to correctly time my ram. Any help is greatly appreciated
  12. Hi there, I just want to know how often or what's the probability, that a ram memory can be bad from factory - and I heard that before from other people, that ram may be problematic from default and not work even if it is compatible etc. I just experienced it with my newest build - I have bought trident z series from G.Skill - RAM 2x8GB DDR4 3200 16-18-18-38, TridentZ Red Series factory number F4-3200C16D-16GTZB First I've inserted both sticks and my mobo (msi z270 gaming m5) had error code 55 (no memory installed). So I removed one stick and restarted the system - it worked fine, loaded bios. Thereafter I've removed the working stick and replaced it with the second to verify thats the bad one and it caused the error 55 and was restarting the pc over and over. Now Iam sending the sticks back to the shop to claim and Iam worried, that the same situation can happen again. Was that just a coincidence or is that a common thing with the ram memory ? Looking forward for more information Thanks _____________________________________ i7 7700k MSI Z270 GAMING M5 GIGABYTE GTX 1080 G1 SAMSUNG 960 evo CORSAIR RM650X
  13. Hello guys, I've been working on-and-off on a build project for a while now, the premise of which has been to upgrade my main gaming rig and make it much more aesthetically pleasing. I've done a lot of the latter already, but the former rather depends on AMD getting off their arses for once and releasing their Zen-architectured chips already. When Zen was first announced I had good hope that it would have DDR3 support and so I could keep using the white HyperX Fury DIMMs that I bought last year, but we've known now for a while that Zen will be DDR4 only, and so I'll need some new RAM. Up until now I've only ever used Kingston RAM, and I do love the fantastic reliability that you get with their memory, but I find their lineup of DDR4 models a bit lacklustre, so I've been looking elsewhere, and that made me quite quickly move towards the idea of buying some of the fantastic-looking G.Skill TridentZ sticks. You can get these in black and white, which would fit my build rather neatly, but I'd really like to do a bit more modding of my components than I have been doing so far, so taking the heatsinks of the TridentZ sticks and painting the outer parts with the metallic blue that I'm already using on my GPU backplate seems like a great idea. Here's my question; has anybody here got any experience taking the heatsinks off of TridentZ DIMMs, and if so, is it comparatively easy or difficult to do so? I'm by no means afraid of the risk that comes inherently with component modding, but if it takes so much effort to take the heatsinks off that I end up accidentally ripping off a memory chip in the process, that would obviously be less than ideal. If it should turn out to be very doable to disassemble and paint TridentZs, I'll probably end up buying a set now, rather than waiting for the actual Ryzen chips to release, and RAM prices to increase even further than they have done already recently. If not, then I might have to consider whether I'm willing to settle for TridentZs in stock colours, or would instead switch to other RAM that I know I can reasonably paint.
  14. Hi everyone, I'm researching a new build, and have ran into the following issue - beQuiet Dark Rock Pro 3 and G.skill Trident Z compatibility. The ddr4 modules have a height of 44mm and the cpu cooler has 34.9mm clearance below the front fan and 39mm clearance below the heatsink (http://www.bequiet.com/volumes/PDM/_products/bk019/bk019_dim_en.pdf). Judging by the figures above, they should not fit. However, I found multiple builds on pcpartpicker where the TridentZ ram has exactly enough height below the cpu cooler (http://pcpartpicker.com/b/T4zMnQ) My question is the following: is there a height difference between ram slots and the cpu socket? How could 44mm high ram modules fit under a cpu cooler that has a maximum of 39mm clearance? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance!
  15. that's the best looking ram I ever see in my life btw those LEDs are confirmed to sync with Asus Aura motherboard lighting. I'm not sure if it does sync with other mobo brand like MSI or Gigabyte? anyone know? #hype
  16. I just purchased a quad channel set of trident z( FA-2400C15Q-32GTZR) for my Asrock x99 extreme4 motherboard and my system will not post with the sticks installed. Reinstalling my original Gskill ripjaws fixes the issue. I have the latest bios (3.60) and am wondering if there is a workaround for the fact that this particular variation of RAM is not listed on the compatibility charts for my MOBO. Am I at the mercy of waiting for a bios update to support this RAM or converting to a z170/270 chipset? Thanks in advance! cpu= 5820k (overclocked to 4.4) nothing else overclocked.
  17. What speed RAM should I get for this build? (GPU is NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition.) G.Skill TridentZ RGB RAM preferred.
  18. Hello all, I recently built a new PC a few days ago and everything worked fine up until last night when I downloaded the GSKILL TridentZ RGB beta software. My specs: MOBO: Gigabyte Z270N Gaming 5 CPU: Intel i5 7600k with a Corsair H1115i RAM: 2x8GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3000 MHz STORAGE: 480 GB BPX NVMe SSD and 1TB Samsung 850 EVO PSU: Seasonic Snow-Silent 750 GPU: PNY XLR8 GTX 1070 OC Everything worked fine until I decided I wanted to try and explore the RGB capabilities of my shiny new RAM. I originally had the Gigabyte Fusion Lighting software installed and saw somewhere that it may conflict with the G.SKILL software, so I uninstalled the Gigabyte software. After I installed the G.SKILL software I was cycling through some of the color options and I noticed the RAM was no longer responding to what I was telling it to do via software. I figured maybe I should reset my PC and see if that fixes it. As soon as I did this I was stuck in a boot loop for about 15 minutes. Nothing would show up on any of my monitors, and I could not access the BIOS. I ended up unplugging the power and then reseating my GPU which oddly enough fixed it. (I'm in a mini ITX case, so I tried the easiest thing first. I can't pull the RAM out without removing my radiator). So I'm a little confused, could this be a GPU problem, a motherboard problem, a RAM problem, or the software just isn't playing nice with something? NOTE: I've had this GPU several months before I built the PC without any problem, so I don't really think it's that. I would appreciate any help, thanks! -E EDIT: One thing I forgot to say, is that my PC is working fine right now. It seems to happen when I'm trying to mess with my RAM lighting. If I see the RAM is a static color and wont respond to the software and I reset my PC it will boot loop. (This has happened 2 or 3 times, and unplugging everything and reseating GPU seems to fix it).
  19. so I just got my G.Skill TridentZ RGB memory yesterday 2x8Gb 3000MHz and installed it in my system which has an Asus Z170-AR, 6700k and gtx 980. I installed the g.skill software and everything worked great but now after I bootup my computer 1 of the sticks keeps doing the default rainbow and wont be controlled. if I set the other to default then reboot the system they are not synced. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? I've tried flip flopping which module is in which ram slot and reinstalling the g.skill software.
  20. I have been going for a system around 1,000 maybe a little over. Put this together and thought it looked pretty good. Right now I'm Still saving and working on building it to replace my current system. Mainly Going for Excellent 1080p, and good 1440p in the future. Any recommendations? I also already have the SSD and HDD from my current System and I am going to wipe the SSD and reinstall Windows on the New System. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qDKdKZ
  21. Can I use this board with a TridentZ RGB kit and still control the RAM's RGB? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157769&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232475&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
  22. I built a new computer with a Ryzen 1800x and Asus Prime X370 Pro, but it doesn't want to boot. There is power, fans are spinning, board and CPU are getting warm, but nothing on the screen. The speaker gives two equal beeps, which I couldn't find the meaning on the internet. Does anyone run the Asus Prime X370 Pro with G.Skill Tridentz memory? I am referring to the 2x16GB, 3200 MHz, C14 F4-3200C14D-32GTZ . I don't see the memory in the QVL list for this motherboard https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/PRIME-X370-PRO/HelpDesk_QVL/ so maybe they are still incompatible. But I see it in the list for MSI X370 Pro Carbon https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X370-GAMING-PRO-CARBON.html#support-mem-1 Should I change the MB for the MSI? Or buy another cheap memory, install Windows, update the Bios and try again with the G.Skill? Appreciate any meaningful suggestions. Daniel
  23. Hi i got a new ram ( g.skills Trident Z RGB) i am replacing with my Klevv cras II. but it seems like my new ram cant sync with MSI mystic light is there any way for me to sync the led with my mobo led?? thanks BTW i am using msi x470 pro carbon
  24. I was editing video today and finally decided it was time to make the jump to 32gb from 16gb of RAM. Sitting at 95% memory used while Resolve eats up your ram is no fun. I currently have this exact model of RAM: https://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-TridentZ-288-Pin-3000MHz-F4-3000C15D-16GTZR/dp/B06X1GNWTN Should I try to purchase the exact same memory or try to find a cheaper option with the same frequency and timings?
  25. Hello, Last time I bought a PC was my 11in Alienware Laptop back in 2009 or so. I don't know much about building a PC...was gonna go with a PC Builder like Maingear of Falcon Northwest but figure building it myself...I can get better parts of the same money. I started researching online..found Linus (I'm from Vancity), JayTwoCents, Bitwit, HardwareCanucks...the Verge ?... Building a PC doesn't seem too difficult...I have friends that have built pc's before and youtube how to's. I have enjoyed DYI recently on other tasks I have done. I don't really care about cost. I plan to game, watch movies, render videos for a possible YouTube channel I'm thinking about doing...plus all the other normal stuff. I'm not interested in AIO or liquid cooling...I prefer fan only. I would like it to be as quiet as possible, have good thermals, preferably power efficient when idle, when doing normal tasks, when rendering, and then whatever load happens when gaming at max settings. This is what I've researched and intend to purchase...I've definitely learned a lot the last couple of weeks. I also am open to AMD Ryzen...so this might change if I go with Ryzen. If you have a Ryzen build with flagship parts like best mobo...please let me know. I didn't look into Ryzen but read a new chip is coming out soon. The parts: Case: Lian-Li PC-O11 Dynamic (Black) CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K 8 core Heat Sink: Noctua NH-U12A Case Fans: Noctua NF-A12x25 120mm 4-pin PWM fans (probably like 9 fans...3 side, 3 bottom, 2 top and 1 back...I'll configure it for good airflow) Motherboard: MSI MEG Z390 GODLIKE RAM: 32gb (2x16) G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200 MHz. (doesn't have to be RGB) GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming 11 GB GDDR6 Hard drive: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 Internal SSD Storage: Samsung 860 Pro V-Nand 1TB SSD SATA SSD Power Supply (PSU): EVGA Supernova 750 G3, 80 plus gold Monitor: Dell Alienware 1900R 34.1 curved monitor. Must be G-Sync tho. Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Platinum Mouse: Steelseries Rival 600 Gaming Mouse ---------- Anyway...I would really appreciate any comments...if there are problems with the parts or compatibility issues. I don't plan to buy in a month or two. Also, if any of the hardware have issues...quality issues, etc...please let me know. Some areas I think could be different are the power supply...not sure how much power I need...I used online calculator. Also the M.2 drive...I could go with 512 GB...using it mainly for operating system, video editing, and storing important files like documents. The 2.5 SSD for games and general storage. Thanks...I really appreciate any input. Toasted_Oats ------------ PS. I went to PC Part Picker and had this "Compatibility Note" (curious if that is a concern or what it means...does that mean if I were to buy three M.2 SSDs, I cannot have three 2.5 SSDs in exchange?) The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6.0 Gb/s port is disabled. The motherboard M.2 slot #2 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6.0 Gb/s port is disabled. The motherboard M.2 slot #3 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated with a PCIe-based M.2 drive, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled. -----------
