Hey Everyone New to the Forum! Please help me!!! I don't know if this is even possible. I am currently planning a road trip around Australia. I will be on the road for approx 2 years, might go back home for a few weeks during the trip. The Aussie Outback can be harsh, dusty, wet and reach temps around 40 Degrees Celsius during the day. I will be driving on washboarding / corrugation roads along with sections off-road. I will have a 4 wheel drive with beefy airbag suspension. I want to build a desktop computer that we can travel with as my wife is a photographer and blogger. My hobby during the road trip will be videography, air drones and would love to play games too. I can already sense, "Just get a laptop!!". I really want to avoid this as I can't find the justification to spend $4000-$6000 on a laptop that would suit our requirements for all the photo editing, video rendering, gaming and web/video browsing. Due to the nature of our hobbies, I'd say I'd need at least 10TB of storage, a beefy GPU and sufficient RAM, where a laptop can't help me with its storage capacity. Only blogs I can find is people talking about transporting their desktop pcs via airplane or courier. My understanding is a mechanical HDD would not cope with long term travel due to vibrations and environmental conditions. Are there any other components that will not travel well? What I was planning to build was a Micro ATX desktop. All with SSD storage (M.2 or 2.5"), at least 4-8GB GPU, AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen or Intel i7 10th Gen as well as 32-64GB RAM DDR4 Dual Channel. Power management won't be a problem for me even during off the grid areas, I will have a 2200W 240V Pure Sinewave Inverter with a combined 12V AGM Battery system equivalent to 500AHs. I feel 650W PSU should be adequate for the setup. Do you think I should get Gold 80Plus or maybe get Titanium just in case for safeguard using an inverter? In regards to physical storage of the desktop. I will be buying a suitcase lined with thick Copolymer Polypropylene. It will be waterproof, anti-static and shock absorbed. PLEASE NOTE- I won't have mobile/cellphone reception or a high data plan for uploading media onto a NAS or CLOUD. Would a NAS be more portable than a desktop computer and just get a middle tier Laptop? Am I making sense or am I just rambling? Please, any advice would be great. Please go easy on me.

Hello! I have this brother who really REALLY hates going out travelling with me because he rather just wants to stay infront of his gaming pc I built for him to play his PC games, so suddenly I had this idea: How about I go out and build another gaming pc and install it in my cars trunk with two monitors behind the two driver seats with each mouse and keyboard on lapdog like or something on foldable table, something like this: http://0.tqn.com/d/cars/1/S/o/o/1/ag_equus_table.jpg Oh yeah and a USB simcard dongle and an internet flat for online play and steam everywhere around the country. The only problem I'm facing really is: Enegery. I kinda doubt a standard car battery would manage to run my cars equipment and the setup i have in mind. How would you people go about with a project like that, i'm really curious to what you think (btw, I already thought of just using a laptop instead but: i want a stationary setup meaning that I dont want to constantly take the laptop out for recharge, so it has to charged with from my cars battery somehow and besides, i want the monitor to be fixed behind the seat really..)

I'm moving out! So I'm traveling by train... It's a 18 hour journey, I was wondering how should I pack my PC. I need suggestions to pack and travel it along safely. As of now I'm thinking of removing RAM,GPU,PSU and HDD from the cabinet and keep the motherboard, Processor and SSD inside the case. I have all the original boxes and ample amount of bubblewrap. The spec of the PC which needs to be carried: Ryzen 5 3600 Gigabyte A320M-H 8GB Corsair Vengeance 3000Mhz Zotac Gaming 1660 Super Twin(not the AMP) 1 TB HDD 240 GB SSD Corsair VS550 Antec NX200

I currently use a HP x360 14" with an i3, 8GB DDR4 and a 128GB SSD. So far its sufficed for my uses but its definitely starting to show many many limitations, one being that the unit is unbelievably heavy and is already a pain to lug around. Especially considering that my future agenda filled with travel and photography I need a laptop which is small, light and relatively powerful and since I am a student and am consequently almost broke I would like for it to be under $1000 AUD, so in terms of USD under $600. Some options I'm considering are the surface laptop with an M3, but I am concerned as to whether or not that's powerful enough to photo edit on. Another is a "certified refurbished" dell XPS 7th generation i5 which seems to be highly acclaimed but the refurbished part of the listing has me concerned. Another is the dell Inspiron 13-5000 i5 8th gen. I'm open to suggestions preferably under 14 inches of screen size and under 2cm of width, slightly over is alright as long as its well justified. Would the WD red's drive vibration protection help when traveling with them since they're optimized for 24 hour NAS usage? Would Red drives fair better if you were to travel with them in your backpack when going on an airplane for example. Or is there not that much difference to their Blue counterpart? Edit: I don't plan on using raid with the drive, I just travel a few times a year and need to take data with me so Id just like to know where you recommend I spend my money

In ear monitor style - I had a great fit experience with the Flux In-ear Pros so I want to upgrade the sound quality now. (I know the custom IEM are expensive so I'm not looking for those.) Replaceable cables - Like I wrote at the top, I want one pair of earphones to do everything for me so I'm sure they will be prone to wear. So replaceable cables will benefit a lot. And of course good sound. Budget: Approx. $200 Current items I'm interested in Westone UM Pro10 Ultimate Ears TRIPLE.FI 10 audio-technica ATH-IM02 I don't really mind buying second hand items so long as they are from "legit" stores. I am traveling to America this week, I was thinking about a camera/actioncam. My budget is around 200-250 bucks. I am going to use it for all day videos, and I don't like the GoPro lookalike cams, also a flip screen would be handy, sorry for bad English, I'm dutch (currency of euros is around the same as USD)

As title says. I'm looking for a mouse that fits this criteria. Tried finding one myself so far but with no luck. Need: -Bluetooth (Not some other wireless system where I'll need to use a dongle even though my laptop has bluetooth built in.) -Laptop sized. So, like tiny. Good for traveling around and used in tiny mouse space situations. -Has a scroll wheel. -Has the forward and back side buttons. -Good quality. Not made with cheap material that'll break within a year. -Not monstrously expensive. Going to use it with my surface pro 3. As it only has 1 usb slot, I'm trying to be conservative of the slots. All suggestions are appreciated thanks!

Are there any things I should do before I move it around? Like take the graphics card out? OR are the components so close together and packed in that I don't even need to worry about it? Thanks, Blueprint

Hello everyone! Longtime follower of LinusMediaGroup on YouTube, etc, but this is my first forum post. I really do help someone here might have some advice for me. Tl;dr: Building my first rig in June as a graduation gift (partially); may leave home country to travel to North America to study in the fall of 2015; need to plan build around that. The Background: I'm a high school senior from Trinidad and Tobago (in the Caribbean), graduating in June. I'm on track to get a full ride scholarship from my government that lets me study anywhere in the world. I need to take a gap year in order to wait for this scholarship (if I even get it). Supposing I do, I plan to study Maths/CompSci (tentative) in either Canada or the US. The Problem: I've been saving for a long time to replace my "high end in 2010 when it was bought, but overheats a lot" laptop with a proper rig. My parents also informed me that they'll be roughly matching my savings as a graduation present. Yay, right? Except, by now there's a certain degree of certainty involved with that scholarship, and anything I build needs to reflect that. I really don't want to get another laptop that'll be limited just like this one. I also want to get the most I can for my money. I want a desktop. Except that, I'll likely need to carry it with me (and back for the summer at least) during my 4-5 years at university in North America. Welp. The Questions: Is this feasible? How would I transport it? Carry-on? Checked luggage? Shipped in advanced? Should I just get a laptop? Rough it out for my gap year and build once I'm there? Assuming I build and can get it across, I'm assuming I'll need a more rugged/portable case. I'm thinking BitFenix? What motherboard size would be most ideal? For reference, I'm working with a budget of $700 to $1000, depending on what needs this travel issue incurs. I'm aiming at getting a GTX 770 or 760. Unsure of processor or motherboard (size) just yet. Everything else will be fairly straightforward. System is mainly for gaming use, with light Photoshop and dev work and the odd video render, nothing too intense. Case choice highly depends on what you guys advise me to do regarding transport. I will cough up the money here if I need to. I'm fine with leaving most peripherals behind, I have shitty monitors that I won't think twice about replacing. Once again, thanks guys. Linus always praises the support you all offer on these forums in these videos, so hopefully someone will have suggestions about how I approach this.

Hey guys' I am from Germany and I am travelling to the USA and Canada. I have a rootet Samsung galaxy s3 with cm11 on it and this is quite obvious. In yesterdays wan show Linus said that you can be charged for an unlocked phone and when you travel to the USA you have to pass a control where they your phone. I am very confused at the moment because I don't really know the definition of an unlocked phone and If I can be charged therefore. Rafmon

Hey guys, College starts next week and they'd like me to bring my ASUS G751JY (5 kg) every day. I am using trains as a mean to transport myself, so in other words I am going to be travelling alot. Are there any decent (durable, room for tech, etc.) out there for under 100 dollars. This laptop is marketed as a 17.1 inch laptop but upon measuring i found it to be over 20 inches (the laptop :D) Thanks in advance.
