Hi, I have Asus rog strix z790-e gaming wifi motherboard and my booting time is approx 40 seconds. I have only Intel i7 13700k, 2x32GB DDR5 RAM at 5600MHz with XMP I enabled and one Samsung 980 Pro 1TB NVMe disk. I don't use dedicated GPU, don't use any usb, wifi and bluetooth disabled on motherboard, booting option in bios is set to fast boot - set everything to boot as fast as posible. It seems that the RAM is training every time I start the PC. When I disable XMP it boot much faster. So I thing the problem is training the memory. On XMP I enabled the RAM process mem test at 100% with no error. Any solution how to speed up the booting time? Also wondering what is the Training Profile under DRAM timing options in BIOS? There are three options, Auto (default), Standard profile, Asus user profile.

Hello World! I'm new to the community. Nice to meet you! Essentially my question for you is, given your experience in the industry and hindsight, and given $5000 of no-strings-attached funding, how would you spend it if you were to restart your career from scratch? Over the coming weeks and months, I intend to develop my very own tech services business! Housecalls, troubleshooting, PC, smartphone, data backup and recovery, networking, security, home entertainment systems, all of the above. I have joined a local business mentoring program with the end product being a fully formed business plan and possibly $5000 worth of funding with 25% personal contribution ($1250 personal investment + $3750 grant money = $5000. I am hoping to pick your brains on the industry. Given the experience and hindsight you now have, what decisions are you happy you made when you were starting out, and which would you change? What types of software would you have purchased or not? How about tools? Training and certificates? tl;dr what advice do you have for someone looking to break into the industry?

I earnt my first wings by learning the ins and out of building my first PC ( thank you you tube and linus tech tips big inspiration ) specked it 10 times and built it in a month last year and my interest in PC tech, advances and threats have sky rocketed since then. I'm learning Python in my spare time to get a computer language under my belt but where do I go from here. Also I know AI, deep learning and machine learning will take over many tech jobs so what jobs will be left for us in the near future and how do I go about getting them? Linus, That FLIR camera is an expensive peice of equipment and also a very useful one when used properly. What I am seeing though indicates that maybe you did not send anyone to get trained on using it properly. Please do. Having taken my thermography ticket it hurts to see you do it the way you do. Maybe send Jake? I took my ticket through ITM. One big thing you are not doing is placing black electrical tape on surfaces, especially ones that are thermally reflective. Black electrical tape provides a good medium for taking thermal readings as it's thermal reflectivity is low and it's emissivity is near 1 (on a scale of 0-1). That isn't all you learn of course but the fact that your taking thermals of glass without doing that shows that your thermals are potentially completely inaccurate. Thank you, Bender EDIT: Typo.

Looking for some recommendations on a good software package or web service (windows or mac) to easily put together training guides for proprietory software packages (IBM RACF stuff is one example) All of the training guides we have at work are either word docs, or powerpoint and are not easy to distribute, and can get out-of-date pretty quickly We have Microsoft 365 employed at work and Microsoft Sway looked promising to put together a web based training guide, but found it a tad clunky to use. I guess am looking for a package which can create a web browser based guide which is searchable and has simple navigation, for example navigation buttons to go from step 1, step 2, step 3 etc

I've just started training on an indoor turbo trainer for my road bike, and using a game called Zwift to actually do my training on. Zwift is a game which requires a fairly decent gpu to run smoothly, at like 60fps. I have a rig in the house with a GTX 960 and an i5 4440, so no powerhouse, but ample for what i do most of the time. It's ideal for running the training software, but lives in the house. My training setup lives out in the garage, where its about 10+ degrees colder (and also away from people) which is also ideal. I am currently using an old laptop to run the software but it really isnt up to the task. I have a pc which im more than happy to leave in the garage, so my plan was to use steam in home streaming, which works great with the app. my only issue is that the trainer communicates to the software via an ANT+ dongle which sends all the information the game needs (power, speed, cadence etc.) currently, unless i could somehow route a 30ft+ usb connection via cable (not realistic by any means) im stuck. Steam uses VirtualHere as a usb pass-through on steam links but this doesn't seem to work on in home streaming. There seems to be loads of software online that will happily route a usb connection on a remote pc to a server, but they seem to cost waayy over $100 which is ridiculous. Does anyone have an idea how to do this for (hopefully) free? I would buy a steam link, but i would have to buy a new screen for the garage and it would start getting expensive if that was the case. Its something like this that i would like to do: https://www.flexihub.com/usb-over-ethernet/ (but without spending $160...)

Hey guys, I'm trying to create labs so that my fellow students and I can learn using hands on methods. Here's the setup. The school has several Cisco switches/firewalls/routers, and 3 client PCs that we can play around with. I plan to put Server 2012 on one of the PCs, and use the others as clients. EXAMPLE: Here's the sort of thing I'm going for. "Using what you have learned so far, configure this Server 2012 machine to dynamically assign IP addresses to the 2 client machines." Simple right? Then the student would do everything from scratch. Hook the Server to the switch, and the client to the switch. (For the easy labs, the switch will be already configured, The harder labs will require it to be configured.) Install the DHCP role, create a scope, verify the client and server can connect, ipconfig /release /renew, and ipconfig to very the client got an address. I'm looking for things like that. Any ideas are appreciated!

So after finishing my 1st playthrough of The Witcher 2 I decided to replay Dragon Age: Origins. I came to the conclusion that in both games you are part of a badass mystical, shady organization that works in the shadows trying to protect the world from monsters and destruction.. As much as I love both of them I really couldn't decide, which of the 2 I would join.. Become a Grey Warden by my own will and protect the world from the darkspawn? Or be subjected into experiments that will enhance my abilities to slay any kind of monster? Turn into a Witcher? Who would you be? Edit: Couldn't figure out why the black lines where there or how to fix them so I edited the post.

I am looking to update my certs and get a bunch of new ones. I currently have old versions of A+, Net+, Security+, ITIL, MCP (Win XP), CCENT. I have looked around on the web for a while, and it's hard to get straight answers about a lot of the course websites. I am looking for simply good videos for the easier courses, but I want labs for any of the courses that require much more hands on knowledge. I would do some bootcamps, but none are offered in my area, and I can't take the time off work to go to the nearest major city. I have tried to take the CCNA test a couple times, and I always get tripped up on the performance demonstration questions; since I can study a book, and watch a video, but can't find any good labs. I built myself a small CCNA lab a while back but I had no idea how to test myself on it. And it's hard to break it in such a way that I don't know how I broke it. So I can't really test myself in fixing it. Does anyone know of any good websites for getting training that also offers decent labs? Or at least where to get labs? Or if there are any night time online bootcamps or something. I am not against paying for assistance, but would rather not shell out insane amounts, ~$100 a month is about what I am willing to pay, unless the service really is that awesome. I find it rather hard to teach myself what I don't know, since I most often don't realize what it is I don't know. And it can be hard to make mock tests or labs for yourself if you don't actually truly understand the material. My immediate Cert goals are to get updated Net+ and Sec+, and then to get MS server and win 7/8 certs, along with CCNA. Thanks for any help.

Hi All, I have posted this on a few other forums, below is what I've put together from various suggestions and my own selections, enjoy =) After some advice on what i have so far - possible replacements and such. What ill need to do when i get the parts - Out of case burn, stress testing that sort of thing & how to do it, as I've never done so before - I have looked at some online videos but never hurts to ask. After you read the parts list, you'll think I'm insane, stupid or awesome... to clarify, yes, yes i am. 1. Budget & Location A lot... 2. Aim Last for the next 5+ years with appropriate minor upgrades & maintenance. Heavy gaming, Virtual machine hosting (training), amateur video recording/editing, random programming, heavy multi-tasking. 3. Monitors Feel free to recommend others however, image quality over response time please =) 3x Monitors - ASUS PB278Q 27" 1440p Nvidia Surround Gaming General video viewing/editing Monitor Real estate 4. Peripherals Open to suggestions. Corsair Vengeance 2100 Wireless 7.1 Corsair Vengeance K70 Saitek Cyborg R.A.T 9 5. Why are you upgrading? I enjoy it. I like working on/for the best. My current laptop is chugging behind trying to run everything I do I don't want to buy another PC for several+ years Finally, I spend much of my time in front of a computer. Storage will be configured as 3 lots of RAID 0... i think the motherboard can handle that =) PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor ($675.00 @ PCCaseGear) Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition EATX LGA2011 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory ($179.00 @ PCCaseGear) Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory ($179.00 @ PCCaseGear) Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($385.00 @ CPL Online) Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($385.00 @ CPL Online) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($99.00 @ PCCaseGear) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($99.00 @ PCCaseGear) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($139.00 @ CPL Online) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($139.00 @ CPL Online) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($849.00 @ Mwave Australia) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($849.00 @ Mwave Australia) Sound Card: Asus Xonar Phoebus 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card ($209.00 @ PCCaseGear) Case: Corsair 900D ATX Full Tower Case ($439.00 @ CPL Online) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan ($28.00 @ CPL Online) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan ($28.00 @ CPL Online) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan ($28.00 @ CPL Online) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan ($28.00 @ CPL Online) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan ($28.00 @ CPL Online) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan ($28.00 @ CPL Online) Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan ($28.00 @ CPL Online) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 PWM 82.5 CFM 140mm Fan ($29.00 @ PCCaseGear) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 PWM 82.5 CFM 140mm Fan ($29.00 @ PCCaseGear) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 PWM 82.5 CFM 140mm Fan ($29.00 @ PCCaseGear) Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 PWM 82.5 CFM 140mm Fan ($29.00 @ PCCaseGear) Power Supply: Corsair 1200W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($439.00 @ PCCaseGear) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer Monitor: Asus PB278Q 27.0" Monitor ($595.00 @ CPL Online) Monitor: Asus PB278Q 27.0" Monitor ($595.00 @ CPL Online) Monitor: Asus PB278Q 27.0" Monitor ($595.00 @ CPL Online) Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K70 Wired Gaming Keyboard ($165.00 @ CPL Online) Mouse: Mad Catz R.A.T. 9 Wireless Laser Mouse Headphones: Corsair Vengeance 2100 7.1 Channel Headset ($165.00 @ CPL Online) Total: $7491.00 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
