Good evening, I had recently purchased A Leopold FC660C, however I run into a problem where the arrow keys (and the letters X/C) have this peculiar clicky sound when depressed (see video) - this does not happen on the rest of the keyboard. Do you know if this is common on the Silent Topre switches and does it resolve itself with use? Thanks switch_issues.MOV

Coming in at $249, the Leopold FC660C doesn't try to justify its premium positioning with features like RGB, backlighting, software, USB passthroughs, a metal build - things you'd find in many prebuilt, primarily gaming oriented keyboards at this kind of a price point. Instead, Leopold seems to have primarily focused on the typing experience that this board offers, and let that do the talking. But will that be enough to warrant the asking price? Beside the keyboard itself, there's not a whole lot in the way of accessories included in the box. You're looking at just a manual, a bog standard USB-A to mini USB-B cable (nope, no USB-C here) and a couple of extra, replacement keycaps. Speaking of which, the FC660C's keycaps are dye-sublimated and made out of PBT plastic, with the exception of the spacebar which is ABS. The profile is somewhere between OEM and Cherry, and will therefore feel very familiar from the moment you take it out of the box and start typing. As you may or may not have noticed, the legends on these keycaps are really not all that prominent. In fact, from some angles or under certain lighting conditions, they'll almost look like blanks. If you ask me, that just adds to the overall stealthy look of this board, which I'm really into. If you rely on the legends when typing however, these keycaps will be far from optimal. The fact that aftermarket Topre compatible keycaps are quite scarce also doesn't help, so that's definitely something to take note of, as far as the black on black variant of the FC660C is concerned. If you're into modding though, you could get some MX sliders and make your board compatible with any MX style keycaps of your liking! Now, let's talk Topre. Technically, these are electrostatic capacitive non-contact switches. In layman's terms, these are the rich man's rubber domes. In the case of my personal board, these are 45g silenced Topre switches. Non-silenced Topre will have a black housing, as opposed to purple. So... how do they feel? Are they really good enough to make spending this much on a seemingly uninteresting prebuilt justifiable? Before I comment on that, I'd just like to make clear that this is just my own personal opinion. Preferred keyboard switches are totally a matter of personal taste, and trying them out before you go out and buy them is highly recommended. Typing on this keyboard is an absolute joy. Coming from Cherry MX Browns, it really was a pleasure to get to feel a proper tactile switch. I've yet to find a better, short explanation than to say that typing on this keyboard feels like typing on clouds, with a really deliberate, thocky resistance at the end when bottoming out, that then pushes back your finger on the way up with a subtle, distinctive sound. Hopefully that at least kind of makes sense. With these switches, this board is really quiet. The stabilisers are also very good - I've only noticed a tiny bit of rattle on the backspace key, but that's about it. Actually, since I mentioned that it's quiet... why not include a sound test? I actually even type considerably faster on these switches as opposed to my previous MX Browns, which really was quite surprising. They're also fine for gaming, I feel. Lots of people seem to think that gaming requires the really light keyboard switches for some reason, but I wholeheartedly disagree with that. Double tapping keys felt a little odd at first, which took me back to when I first switched to a mechanical keyboard from a cheap old membrane, though I got used to it quickly. With all of that said, do I think that the Leopold FC660C was worth the premium? I'd say so. Typing on it feels amazing, it's quiet, portable, and also looks good despite not being flashy in the slightest. I guess the lack of USB-C could be considered a con, though I really don't see why that would be a deal-breaker for anybody. Oh, and it might also make you hate your old keyboard. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I got a bad itch for a new keyboard atm. There are currently 2 keyboards that I am considering (feel free to mention other keyboards). -Leopold FC660C -REALFORCE R2 TKL PFU Limited Edition Are there any pros and cons I should be aware of before choosing any of these? I plan on changing the keycaps in the future and i have replacement sliders and silencing rings that I never used on my keyboard. Are there any complications with changing the keycaps? I read somewhere that there was something about the bottom row on the Leopold. I mainly want a smaller keyboard as my current one is too big. I have a UK Topre Realforce 105U 45g WE6100 currently.

What is your utmost favorite switches? ( preferably in order ex: 1-10 ) Personally my absloute favorite keyboard is the greatest keyboard of all time and indeed, the incredible IBM Model M's Buckling spring switches 2. I'm about to buy a new keyboard and I am stuck between three. The IKBC MF 108 which has a full aluminium body / case, the Ducky Shine 6 which is plastic but comes in cherry mx silver and has more features and better lighting, or the topre realforce rgb. The Topre is currently at the bottom of my list, it comes with cheaper keycaps and seems just like you are paying for rgb lighting and topre switches. I am more torn between the IKBC and the Ducky for the reasons I mentioned above. I am currently leaning towards the IKBC simply for the full aluminium case which apparently makes a HUGE difference, but does it make as big of a difference as people make it out to be to make it worth buying over the Ducky?

Pick one, and tell me why. Same price!

Any one know of any after market suppliers of Topre key caps? I have looked at ebay,amazon and wasd keyboards and am just wondering if there are any other aftermarket suppliers? I am located in Canada so North America suppliers would be preferred but not necessary.

Disappointing, to put it mildly. For all the criticism directed at the poor QC present in budget-oriented or even mid-range keyboards, I was not expecting this from a $225 slab made in Japan. Just emailed customer support, so we'll see how that goes. The keys feel kinda like piano ivory I guess, but I don't even want to look at the thing now. Just something to keep in mind when discussing generalized QC issues, I suppose. Edit: EK told me that it was a common occurrence with steel plated keyboards and to bend it back. That seems to have worked, but I've never had issues with any of my other steel plated boards using Cherry switches.

I'm not trying to tell you you should, this is simply a curiosity of mine. Personally I didn't even know they existed until a while after I got my first mechanical keyboard, they kinda seemed odd and foreign to me. Upon becoming a regular browser of /r/mechanicalkeyboards I learnt that the people who had bought HHKBs were almost always in love with theirs, while all this time I had written them off as crazy people for spending that much. At this time I was in the same boat as I assume many of you are in, they are super expensive for the most part, and I had already spend a lot of cash on a Filco. That is, until my saviour came, and that saviour is the Leopold FC660C, a decently affordable Topre keyboard. Many of the reviews for it say that it is a nicer typing experience than a HHKB, but I personally can't say anything towards that as I haven't used one. Now here I am typing on Topre keyboard and loving every single keypress. If you do have one, lets hear about it! So i just received my Topre Realforce 104U in the mail. I've been using it for few hours now and there's one thing i don't like about the keyboard. Its the keycaps color haha where can i find a replacement keycaps for the topre? I gotta say, the feel of it is ALOT better than the cherry blues though i think i'll be missing the clickity clackity noise

I got my Realforce tenkeyless a while back, but wanted to post something worth while, so I waited for my case mod to arrive in the mail. After a painful screen shot process to reduce the file size, here are the photos My Realforce 10th anniversary special edition + Digilog full aluminum case mod. Complimented by the Custom made 37cm (Austrian leather & blue embroidered) wrist rest. Whole thing has absolutely no flex what so ever, and weighs a good 2.4kg Although I put some 3M non slip pads on the bottom, the thing was not going anywhere without it anyways. Comes with 3 usb ports (all of which I covered up with black USB dust covers) and a mini usb port for the connection. I would have liked to buy the graphite version of this keyboard case to keep the original look, however it was out of stock and this silver really compliments the blue grey keycaps. Truly my favorite keyboard at the moment, and coming from a Das Ultimate Blues, I was certainly not disappointed.

You might question yourself, what's Topre? Unlike Cherry MX switches, Topre switches are basically running on rubber domes but works differently compared to your normal membrane keyboards. Topre keyboards is like membrane keyboards on steroids. The tactility is far more superior compared to Cherry MX Browns, Blues, Clears, and even ergo-clears! So you're looking for keyboards. You find one you really like and it's at a great price and has everything you want - BUT, you see that it has "Cherry MX Brown" switches. What does that mean? What's the difference between these Cherry MX switches? How do I even know that I want Cherry switches? This thread will hopefully help you out.
