Hello Everyone, I hope you've come across a solution to this perplexing issue. Allow me to share my recent experience with the MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi motherboard, which has been a source of constant frustration and has consumed countless hours of troubleshooting. To begin with, I updated the BIOS to the most recent one for my motherboard from MSI website, when I initially set up the motherboard, I encountered a major hurdle—no drivers were installed. As a result, various components like network adapters, audio, Bluetooth, and others appeared as 'Other devices' in the Device Manager. Connecting to the internet was impossible, forcing me to install the Windows operating system in limited mode. Eventually, I managed to utilize a second PC to download the necessary network drivers from the MSI website. I can't help but wonder if this level of difficulty is normal, as I don't recall encountering such challenges when I built my last system over five years ago. At present, I've managed to get the WiFi working, making the PC usable. However, I haven't been as fortunate with the Ethernet connection. Despite my best efforts, which included manually installing the latest drivers from MSI's website or Intel's, utilizing MSI Center's auto driver installation, and even trying Intel's driver support assistant, I've been unable to establish a functional Ethernet connection. What's interesting is that the latest LAN drivers for my Windows 10 operating system appear to install correctly. In the Device Manager, the Ethernet adapter is listed as 'intel(R) Ethernet Controller i226-V' under 'Network Adapters,' without any yellow exclamation marks or signs of an unidentified device. I've also attempted disabling the device and deleting the drivers to reinstall the latest versions each time I've attempted to troubleshoot. Every other driver that has been installed seems to be functioning as normal, Wifi, audio etc... Unfortunately, Ethernet connectivity continues to elude me. I'm confident that the cable is not the issue, as it is a standard CAT 6 cable that came with my router and functions when connected to my old PC. Additionally, the Ethernet port on the new MSI motherboard does show signs of activity, with the port lights flickering in amber and green during boot-up. Considering this, I find it unlikely that there is a faulty port or motherboard that somehow passed quality control. I believe there must be a simple solution that I have yet to discover. Perhaps I unintentionally unchecked a setting in the BIOS that disables Ethernet connectivity (although I don't believe I have), or maybe it's a minor problem with the router. For a while I've been looking at the MSI Z790 Tomahawk WiFi, which seems like a good all-round board at a (somewhat) reasonable price. But lately I found out it doesn't have Dual BIOS (surprising as my MSI Z97 Gaming 7 from 8 years ago had it!), so I'm wondering if there are better options out there at that price point or even slightly higher? For what it's worth, I live in India and the DDR5 Tomahawk costs about 33,500 Rupees. It won't translate directly into USD/CAD as the import duties etc are different, but there you have it. The features I'm looking for: DDR5 Z790 (I'm getting a i5-13600K and am not ruling out overclocking down the line) Minimum 4 x USB 3.0 or better on the rear I/O Clear CMOS button & BIOS Flashback button on the rear I/O Dual BIOS (preferred, but can do without if it's something motherboard makers are simply no longer offering) Some form of EZDebug LEDs A power-on button on the board (preferred, but not mandatory) I don't care much for RGB lighting, addressable fan headers & stuff like that. I don't mind them but lacking those features is not a deal breaker for me. So, any good alternatives for the Tomahawk? -
Hi! I recently got a "new" pc, MSI B450 Tomahawk Max with Ryzen 3600. When I had stock cooler, it showed that I thermal throttle. I changed cooler to Gamer Storm Assassin III... and hwinfo killed me. As you can see, I thermal throttle on 60*C max. I DO NOT overclock it, everything is at stock. Anybody has any idea WTF? I have to go to work, so if you need any more info, let me know.

I have updated BIOS using MSI Dragon Center. It started installation process. But it has been almost 6 hour since no output. On the motherboard VGA and HDD light is on (lights are not blinking) Previous BIOS version 7C84v14 (I have updated this on December by myself) Version that I tried 7C84v15 -

Planning my first budget build. Thinking of settling for the intel core i5 11400 CPU and I’m trying to decide which motherboard to pair it with. I think I narrowed it down to the following two choices but I was hoping to get some input from this community. they both can be had for under $200 at the moment. Previous post: I posted my story about limited speeds in the networking forum a few days back to see what was going on. I did everything said in the post, and people started pointing to it being my integrated ethernet ports on my motherboard. Digressing for a second, I was having issues with the internet speeds themselves. I was getting about 880/200 while I'm supposed to have 940/880, and I had tested the same ethernet port and everything with a different computer. Anyways, I've tried updating my drivers to no changes in speed. Should I update my BIOS as suggested? I used Dragon Center to update, but that lead to me clearing the CMOS. Otherwise, I have no idea what could be causing this anomaly. Open to any advice. -

My build: MOBO:MSI X570 TOMAHAWK CPU:RYZEN 7 5800X RAM:G.SKILL TRIDENT Z 4133MHZ CL19 16GB SSD SAMSUNG 860 GPU: GTX 1060 (WAITING FOR UPGRADE) PSU:CORSAIR HX850 PLATINUM 850W CPU COOLER: BE QUIET DARK ROCK PRO 4 CASE: PHANTEKS P400S I begun with bios update to the latest one(bios flash back button).i assembeled cabel managed . Had to adjust bios settings to find not only uefi ssd s but csm also so i dont have to reinstall windows. I set to xmp1 and launched to windows. CPU idle is around 34-38celsius (ambient is 23)but for the smallest tasks it jumps up like to 50.(ryzen master temp read)while ingame for like 10minits temps are 60-70(Hw info read out) Prime95 on 16thread with max heat for maybe 2mins is throthling at 80celsius.with an agressive fancure 65celsius is 100% fan speed. Voltage jumping to 1.5V. Ram is on 2066mhz cpu-z thats ok but timing is wrong everything got +1.it should be cl19. But is is cl20 and so the other numbers.Need to check votage i forgot it. (Ram tuning is new for me) I would like to find some proper ram setting i cant figure what to change so i dont do any harm. Iam afraid of the temps on the cpu i upgraded from asus board i5 4690k all core oc 4.5ghz with 1.24V it was aircooled with thermaltake frio 2fans never got above 60celsius. When i figured out the ram problem and the heat on the cpu i will try some cinebench. But first could you suggest some places where i can find a good ram setting for dumies site or just something i can work with? Also if you know a good MSI bios setting or what to change so my core speed and voltages dont jump around.This is my 1msi board i like so far the asus more the bios was easy to overclock ,but the msi got those good vrm and it was cheaper too. I tried dram calculator ehh it wont work for me for now. I finished the build Yesterday like 11pm, so iam writing this from work if i get home i can put more data if you need something. So far if someone solved issues like this please feel free to post solutions. Thx . -

If I buy a 5900x with a x570 Tomahawk and not planning to OC, is it overkill? The CPU will be often rendering 3D images with all 12 cores running for long periods of time. Will it still run cool and stable with B550?.. or x570 is preferable im my case scenario? I used to be on Intel mobos, I'm kinda confused with the B550 and X570. Thanks

Hey, I am in the dark here. Background story: I am building my first pc and I plan on putting a ryzen 5900X/5800X (depending on premium they sell for in Canada), and a 3080 or the AMD equivalent. I bought all the other parts of the system over the last 2-3 weeks and assembled the unfinished pc. I bought a used 3200g as a place holder until I get the cpu and gpu to start working on making everything working. The problem: I want to make my system ready to receive a 5000 series cpu as soon as it is delivered but when I update the bios of my x570 Tomahawk I end up with a black screen and I can't do anything. Clearing the CMOS doesn't do anything either. The only solution was to flash the bios again and revert to the initial bios it shipped with (dated April 2020) AND clearing the CMOS once again. I have tried all the versions of bios available on the msi x570 support page and nothing works except the earliest version from back in April. It is likely an issue with the cpu support as the EZ Debug CPU LED is steady on when I have the issue with the black screen. I have not read anywhere that updating the bios could remove support for a series of cpus (my 3200g in this case). I did the bios update using the flash button on the rear IO with USB key but I also tried doing it through X-FLASH with a USB key and both methods fail. Updating the bios through the rear flash bios button with a plugged USB key technically doesn't involve the cpu although I did have it in during the update. However, because it is technically not involved I am worried that the day I receive my 5000 series cpu I won't be able to use it since I can't install the AGESA 1.0.8 or AGESA 1.1.0 required to run these new cpus. The current state of the system with old bios and 3200g work fines. Are there other things I can try? Or should I RMA the motherboard? Have you heard of MSI bios updates causing this issue with other people? Thanks for any insight. So I set my CPU ratio to 38 in my new msi x570 tomahawk motherboard. Everything seems fine abd it shows up in task manager's base speed. But in game, it never boosts to that speed. Then I went to ryzen master, changed the peak speed tp 3800 as well (it's originally 3100MHz at the 'current' profile). Reboot. When I open ryzen master it shows the correct new peak speed of 3800MHz. I open up a game (doesn't matter what game: league, assassin's creed, CoD). The core speed immediately drops from 3800MHz to ~3100MHz (as shown in CPU-Z). Andin microsoft flight sim the cpu never goes above 3.1 GHz (as shown in second figure). I don't know why this is happening, please help!! Thank you! P.S. NOT A TEMPERATURE ISSUE, I have a noctua fan that's keeping it way below 50C and I literally just booted up the PC. I have a R7 1700 with a x570 msi tomahawk btw.

Hello guys i have a gtx 1060 6gb b350 strix f gaming r7 1700 and the problem is that my motherboard and CPU after 2 years got faulty I send the b350 f to the Asus for rma and they fix it and the r7 1700 to amd and today I received the new one btw I buy b450 tomahawk max because first I send the motherboard cause I didn't knew that and my cpu was faulty anyway I have 2 motherboards the strix one and the tomahawk should I give the r7 1700 unopened new and the strix and just go and buy a 3600x or 2700x or should I keep it with the tomahawk and sell the strix what do you think ? Hey, I'm having a problem where my computer won't turn on properly. Here are my specs: AMD Ryzen 2600x MSI B450 Tomahawk mobo Sapphire Vega 56 GeIL EVO SPEAR 16gb DDR4 NZXT Kraken X62 NZXT S340 Elite case CM MWE Gold 650W 80 Plus PSU Some samsung 250gb SSD HERE IS A GIF OF THE PROBLEM HAPPENING When my computer is shut down, it will not power on properly. If I hit the power switch, the computer will turn on for a split second (fans, gpu start etc) but then immediately shuts back off. After this happens, the power switch will not work unless I unplug the cable from the PSU for a couple minutes and then plug it back in. Additionally, trying to short the mobo without the power switch produces the same effect- I can jump it once, but then shorting it again does not do anything until I unplug/repug the psu cable. I built this computer from (new) parts about 6-7 months ago. Since last night, I have been able to get the computer to turn on and stay on once- though there was no display output and the red BOOT debug led on the mobo was lit up. HERE'S THE GIF AGAIN IN CASE YOU MISSED IT I have tried unplugging each of the GPU, ram, and SSD individually to try to isolate the problem, but nothing helped. Unplugging all peripherals from the backside did not help either. Because my build does boot/run occasionally (has been..), I feel it is more likely to be a mobo than a PSU problem. I have also tried using a different PSU cable, and outlet. I’ve also tried removing the CMOS battery and reseating the 24-pin cable to no effect, as well as trying the PSU paperclip test (which worked fine). The ram sticks are also in the correct slots. I've seen that there seems to be some cold boot issues with the B450 boards, but none of those issues seem to be similar to mine. Any ideas?

Hey guys, I'm the happy owner of the msi x99 tomahawk motherboard with i7 5820k which has 28 PCIE lanes. I want to upgrade my storage with corsair M.2 MP500 480 GB SSD. The problem is that I'm not sure if my configuration supports full 4x pcie 3.0 for my M.2 SSD. Couldn't find solid info in the internet and my manual only says that it can't support 4x 3.0 when the U.2 port is used (which is not in my case) and then uses 2x pcie 2.0 which is four times slower. This would suggest that it can support 4x3.0 when U.2 is disabled. Can someone confirm it? I want to be 100 % sure that I will be able to use its full potentail before I spend that kind of money.

Hi I just built my Ryzen 5 1600 PC. When I turn it ON the EZ DEBUG LED CPU light blinks once. After that it doesn't post or display anything. The GPU and other case fans work fine and everything runs fine but it doesn't display anything. I tried to clear CMOS, tried to switch different RAM sticks but nothing works.

hey, my friend just built himself a Ryzen 1700 build with a MSI Tomahawk B350, he wants to do Raid0 with his 2 128GB SSD but we can't get it working. In the bios there is a option to select Raid but can't do anything after that it doesn't let you select which type of raid you want of which drive you want to raid. As anyone figure this out yet? looking in the manual didn't help at all and couldn't find anything online.

So I've got me an MSI B350M Mortar and a Ryzen 1700. I'm currently looking at 2 different options of G.Skill Trident RGB RAM , but am worried about Ryzen having problems using 4 modules of RAM. Is there anyone out there using a 32GB kit (4x8GB) with either the Tomahawk/Mortar, or really any Ryzen board? I've checked the QVL for this motherboard and it surprisingly has listed F4-3200C16Q-32GTZR which is 4 x 8GB with 16-18-18-38 timings but it's SK hynix. Or would it be better to get 2 sets of F4-3200C14D-16GTZR which is not on the QVL list but is Samsung B.Die with 14-14-14-34 timing? -

ASRock ab350 pro4 - 185 BGN MSI B350 Tomahawk Arctic - 221 BGN or even MSI X370 Gaming Plus - 240 BGN. Which one is worth it the most and why(bios support, stability, vrms etc) ? Are the 55extra really worth when comparing the ab350 vs x370(19 extra from msi b350 for sure are) ? Even though x370 is better for overclocking and future proof probably,I don't plan on overclocking the r5 1600 for now. P.S. Hey guys, any of you using X570 boards from ASrock? Id be interested in your thoughts about general quality, the fan quality and noise, as well as the BIOS functionality. Specifically Im thinking about getting either - Phantom Gaming 4 (170€) - Taichi (320€) dont need PCIe 4.0, I'd choose em for their Thunderbolt 3 header, in case I get better Audio Production gear some time later. Also they all seem to have LAN "by Intel" - to be very unspecific here. People call the latter alot better than Realtek alternatives. B450 Tomahawk is a bummer, since apparently two of the four Sata ports dont work, if you actively use the NVME M.2 slot any good alternatives? Id get a 3600 or 3700x Greetings, chris
