So I already have the parts for my first desktop build but it can't be connected to the internet yet. Would it work if I connect a usb multiplier with a wifi adapter in one of the ports via ethernet back to the mobo so I can get stable wired connection at all times? My wifi has a lot of ping. I tried a powerline for my laptop but it had to be reset once every 2 to 3 days which was a pain in the bum. moCA isn't an option, mesh adapter I haven't tried before but they're a bit pricey. I can't move the router an inch let alone lay cables all over the house. Any thoughts?

Me, and my gf have noticed that, after I swaped Headsets from a Razer (blackshark) to a Logitech, I started talking louder now and then. This came down to a future that was present in the Razer Hardware that allowed playback into the headset. Windows does have this future in the software but its playback is...bad. delays, no noise cancelling and its loud. What i whould like is a software or simular that whould allow me to tweek a playback into the headset so it's barely noticeable like the Blackshark headset I used to use. I do belive I wouldn't be so loud while gaming if i hear myself more. Any idees on how to do this? is it possible? appreciate any help.

Hello everyone I'm a 1st time builder. Here's the link to my parts list FOR REFERENCE: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ MY QUESTION: Does it matter where I've attached my component power cords into the PSU or have I done them right? I'm afraid of the thing exploding, setting fire, arcing, or shorting on me for fear I've placed them into the incorrect PSU outputs / inputs... I know nothing about volts or electricity really. I DO KNOW MY CONNECTIONS TO THE COMPONENTS THEMSELVES ARE CORRECT, just confused on the points on the PSU itself. I have an ASUS ROG THOR 850w Platinum. I've attached 2 pictures of the input/output ports on the PSU for reference. Please tell me if I need to change them around, or any safety concerns I should be aware of, or if I've done them correct. Here's what I've done, and where I've attached the cords to the PSU: Motherboard: to slots 11 and 12 [using (18+10) to 24 cord] CPU: to slots 1 and 2 [using 2x (4+4) to 8 cords] (NOTE: 2x separate cables that attach to CPU PWR1 and CPU PWR2 on motherboard with ends labeled "CPU") GPU: to slots 9 and 10 [using 2x (6+2) to 8 cords (PCIE)] (NOTE: 2x separate cables that attach to GPU with ends labeled "PCIE") HDD: to slot 6 Here's a bunch of electrical garble I don't understand but may be helpful to you guys: SO HOW'D I DO???

Budget (including currency): $1,500 USD Country: U.S. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA titles, FPS, STREAMING, VIDEO EDITING Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I am brand new to building PCs and have learned what I know from LTT and other tech Youtubers and am planning to build a gaming/streaming PC sometime in November. My budget is $1,500 USD for the PC itself but would like to save as much as I can. That is my main goal. To save where I can without bottlenecking the GPU too badly. So I'm looking to see if anyone has a good build list for the 3080 that will allow me to play the games I stream at 1440 144hz and games I enjoy personally at 4k on my OLED TV. Thank you in advance. P.S.: This is the first forum I've ever joined so I am new to much of the content and structure.

Hi guys. Well, life is changing (kinda). I have multiple job opportunities to strive for before me. Here they are: On my LinkedIn page (which my current employer requires we all have for business relations reasons), another IT firm/thing has sent me a message about being interested in hiring me. While this sounds cool, I've never heard of them. They are a little over an hour away, and I know nothing about any of that (their location, the people there, etc.) However, they have it on their webpage and in this message that they believe people should love where they work. That's right up my alley because that's how my current employer is and it's a generally good thing (obviously). It's 20 minutes from a relative I could stay with, and odds are, I would be paid a bit more. It's just a matter of "It's new and I have to start over being social." basically, but I get that's just part of a new job and I should get used to it. So yeah. That's one option. My ultimate problem in life is that I'm complacent. If I could just stay doing what I'm doing all my life, I'm fine with that, even with my pay. I'd live in my vehicle and sell my house if I could do so with a server and computer/connection to the internet and the basic amenities (i.e. RV) if I could. But tis life. The next option I have is to work at my step-dad's employer. They. Sound. Awesome. He actively gets bonuses (for being a good employee of course) frequently, stocks, and all sorts of bonus "reward" things. Though I'm not sure if that's just because they like him and he's good at what he does, but from what I've heard from him, that's kind of how it is for everyone at his workplace. I'd probably have to move because it's as far or further than the prior job and I wouldn't be working in the same place he does, so I can't ride with him there. I've heard the pay is good as well. The only problem is, again the "I have to be social" thing, and that I know little of what I would actually be doing. They have an IT position open (according to him), but ... that is very vague. I guess I'll just have to explore this one more. The problem with the above two things is that they are just work experience. I'd really like to go back to college at some point. Anything that helps me do that is a major plus. Which brings me to the next one: The Air Force (or other military branch). The Air Force specifically has their own college which is acredited and accepted by the southern colleges (some board thing where they all accept each other's credits and stuff). A negative is the training because it will be hard, but I am sure I can handle it, but it's a positive because I would learn a lot of useful life skills as well. A negative is I would be away from my family, but to me, that's also a positive. I think they are a bit too dependent on me to be honest. They need to sort their things out and I am not the type of person to turn down helping someone unless I have to. This would make it a "have to". A negative is that I might get paid better elsewhere, but I have 2 years of college (67 hours of credit) already and that guarantees me a promotion and pay raise when I leave basic, so it's not that big of a negative. Plus I get college credit for basic, so not much of a negative at all. Then there's the benefits of the military (insurance, pensions, that stuff). However, there is the huge negative to this that it's entirely possible that World War III will start soon. The world is just like it was before WW I & II. The US is in an isolationist mind set just like it was after the Spanish-American War. Russia is pulling some Nazi stuff with Crimea and the Ukraine. I mean really. It's not that out there that I might be deployed to a battle zone. Which, I'd accept if I were in the military, but it's something to consider. Overall, this is probably the best choice in terms of overall package. However, I may or may not be disqualified due to varying reasons. We will see. And yeah. Those are my 3 options currently. A 4th would be to stay where I am, but .... eh. That would kind of rock and suck at the same time. I love it here, but .. the pay and the career ladder aren't there. Sometimes that's worth it, but only if you are older and have the capital to take a hit in your potential pay. I'm not, and don't. What do you guys think? Any advice and/or knowledge to give? Thanks, Vitalius.

best Best way to reset an internal drive to external
Asher Schwartz posted a topic in Storage Devices
What is the best way to reset an internal drive as an external. I swapped my HDD out for an SSD on this computer and I am just wondering the best way to reset the HDD to get the full potential back as one drive and not a couple of different volumes. -
Hello, Im just wondering if it is worth the upgrade from my 3770k @5 GHz to a 7700k. Or should i wait for something even better. Here is my system https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SultanOfAwesome/saved/swJ9TW

Hi! I'm trying to send my motherboard back to MSI but I don't have any antistatic bags. I've read bubble wrap isn't the best choice either. Any solutions?

Just as the title suggests; is there a certain cleaning solution/type of cloth I should use when trying to clean the Infinity Mirror on the Kraken X62?

Hi everyone and I was watching LTT for very long time now and I gaming PC build but to buy the products need to build I can't buy those products because they say we can't ship to your location or I cannot get the same product that are used in the video or it is over priced.

Hey so I got some random cheapo wifi card to test reception in my room. Got perfect reception so now I need/want an actual wireless card bc the usb one will be for my friend's pc when he drags his pc over. Just has to be PCIe or w/e. I had an old one I ripped from a pc but it was some old format that wasn't pci(e) and didn't fit in my mobo. So that kinda went out the window. Just recommend good stuff or w/e and I'll come up with decent price range through looking at recommendations. I have the option to also get a wired connection in my room (long story will be made short below), I'm looking into that but this will be a good substitute for now (could be like a month until I actually buy the adapter) bc I don't play a lot of ping dependent games. Long story made short edition: -house has 2 phone lines -both setup n stuff -one in use -one not in use -phone plug in my room is on the one not in use -could get my own internet connection for like 50CAD/month + installation (50CAD) and router rentage fee, need to look into it tho I'll probs end up doing the long story made short edition at some point but I need to get more info from the company I'll be using. Anyways for now please recommend away, thanks for any help/advice! If you need more info feel free to ask, I can explain anything I put in this thread in a clearer light if needed (I think).

Posted a while back asking if it was worth sacrificing my beer holder and chucking another SSD into my RAID, your thoughts were kinda mixed so i did it anyway just to be sure. After waiting all day copying 860GB off my raid and then back onto it again after the upgrade, i finally got round to running some synthetic tests, and it's looking good. As you can see from the attached screenshot, the array is now trading punches with my boot drive (Kingston Predator PCIe M.2 [AHCI]) which is kinda amusing. Im interested in how the 4K transfers are still so much higher on the PCIe drive though, can anyone explain that ? im curious as to how different buses affect different aspects of drive throughput. Obviously there is only one benchmark of the RAID shown here, i sadly lost the screenshot i took of the diskmark results of my array when it was just 2 SSD's, but from memory the seqential Q32 was about 1000MB/s on reads and about 550MB/s on writes, so a pretty good improvement there. From what i can tell i am already starting to see the fabled diminishing returns on the write speeds, but i am pretty happy with the boost to read speeds that i have gained from a 3rd SSD, as this RAID is where i have all my games installed. Now leaving the world of synthetic benchmarks, i tested game loading times from my RAID, again i dont have any numbers to compare to from the old setup cos, well, im not linus or slick, i don't think of this stuff lol. But i can say that in simulator type games like KSP or BeamNG, there does seem to be a noticable difference in loading times whether that be for levels, assets, or textures. But games like Battlefield or GTA and other "heavier" titles, don't seem to change at all. Is there something inherent about some programs or video games that means there is simply a cap on how fast it can load stuff from the installation directory ?

I currently have an MSI x99a sli plus paired with a 5820k. I was wondering if it would be worth swapping them for an upcoming 7700k and gaming motherboard in the 175-200 usd range. If I can get a Microcenter bundle with both for about 450 usd and sell my current parts for 550, will it be worth the swap under the assumption that the 7700k is similar in performance to the 6700k? I bought the 5820k thinking I would be doing a lot more work than I ended up doing. The extra cores ended up being more of a burden to my cooler than a help in any program.
