Hi, yesterday my modem was taken by my isp to change the account binded to it to a new account that I made On returning, I saw that many of the devices in my hopuse are not getting internet from the router even if it is connected and I can even login to the router settings - but no internet. I left it as I thought it will be over when the DHCP resets itself. Today when I woke up the problem still exists and when I went further looking, I found this The NTP config was disabled and the time was 1970?! I enabled it and when applied, it didn't change anything, it is still showing 1970 and not updating!! On further looking I found that the modem ( which my ISP reset) was also having the same issue and was locked to 1970 January. I tried to manually change the date by adding NTP servers, but it still resets to Jan 1970 and not budging from that. Now these are my questions. 1. Can only my ISP change the modem time? 2. Are my router times affected due to this modem time? if not why is it not changing when I change it? 3. Are my device connection issues due to this time discrepancy? 4. If i tell the ISP to come are reset the time, will the devices be start working fine?

I'm in the Victoria B.C. area, and I'm wondering if someone knows of a parts store similar to free geek. I'm looking to build my first PC and picked a heck of a year to start. I'm alright with frankensteining it slowly over time to save $ Thanks!

So, specs: Why would the BIOS time and time in my W11 zone differ? I'm in UTC +2:00 time zone. If I set the time in BIOS to my correct regional time, then in the Windows (11) time is 2 hours past. I mean If I set BIOS time to 21:00 then in W11 time is 23:00. Suspecting this might have something to do with the machine not being able to wake from sleep or turn on automatically by set turn-on alarm. Just an anomaly or is there some actual reason for all of this? PS. Didn't know where to place this topic, so it's here.

My code: session_start(); $time = time() + 5; if (isset($_SESSION['udi_v1']) && $time >= $_SESSION['udi_expire']) { # skip echo "NO SKIP"; } else { function guidv4($data = null) { $data = $data ?? random_bytes(16); assert(strlen($data) == 16); $data[6] = chr(ord($data[6]) & 0x0f | 0x40); $data[8] = chr(ord($data[8]) & 0x3f | 0x80); return vsprintf('%s%s-%s-%s-%s-%s%s%s', str_split(bin2hex($data), 4)); } $_SESSION['udi_v1'] = guidv4(); $_SESSION['udi_expire'] = time(); echo "NO SKIP________"; } var_dump($_SESSION); my goal: i want to make a new guidv4 every 15 minutes. So if the udi_expire time is above 900 seconds, then refresh it if the time is not the 900 seconds, then dont do anything where did i go wrong?

Can you guys an gals help me to freeze the time on my second PC? i build a whole nother PC to run 2 programs, one of them is normally paid software, (sign making software for my vinyl cutter) but i'm only using the cutter for Hobby purposes. due to me going to collage, i don't have the money to pay for a 700€ program. I would like to either Freeze the time via the bios or via Startup, before the program even has a chance to notice a time change. the PC is not connected to the internet and can therefore not get the time via some kind of service and has to use the built in time. Is there a way to pull that off? (or you got any free sign making software that is compatible with my cutter [Mimaki CG60EX]) Thanks for your answers, couldn't find a similar thread on the forum, so i started a new one, if there is one on here, pls show me. if u find any spelling or grammar mistakes, u can keep em for yourself English aint my first language

Hello all, Here's my system, for future reference: R5 3600, Asrock x570 Phantom Gaming ITX-TB3, MSI Ventus RTX 2060 Super, 16(2x8)gb Gskill Ripjaws 5 3600mhz, Crucial 512gb NVME, Samsung 850 Evo 1tb, WD Blue 4tb, Ncase M1, Silverstone 700W SFX PSU. My current issue is that windows time and date service isn't keeping, well up to date. I've already looked around online and have tried restarting the windows time service in services.msc, as well as changing the time server. Every time I turn off my pc, and start it back up again, the time doesn't update the the current time, even after waiting a few minutes and doing some work. If I turn my PC off at 11pm the night before, it will resume from 11pm the next day and continue on without realizing its mistake and changing the time. The only to solve this problem is manually press the sync now button. I've also run the sfc/scannow to see if there were any issues, none to be found. I have no pending windows updates. My last resort is the CMOS battery, though I doubt that is the issue. I run an undervolt on my ryzen system, as well as an xmp profile, and it hasn't been resetting regularly, so I don't believe that's it. Plus, I'm really not into putting the effort into dismantling the system at the moment just to get to CMOS. If it comes to that, I will. I'd appreciate all your help. If you think that this doesn't belong in this section of the forum, let me know. Thanks!

Hey guys! I just ordered what will be my first ever custom rig, after months (really) of waiting for better hardware and pricing (also availability because #México), I went for this parts: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-7400 3.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($188.75 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B250M-DS3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($73.98 @ Newegg) Memory: Kingston FURY 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($67.79 @ Newegg) Storage: PNY CS1311 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($49.99 @ Jet) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB SC GAMING ACX 2.0 Video Card ($144.99 @ B&H) Case: Cooler Master MasterBox 5 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.99 @ B&H) Power Supply: EVGA 450W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($31.98 @ Newegg) Total: $617.47 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-02-27 03:59 EST-0500 So, in the beginning I was aiming for the NZXT S340 Elite White case, but, you guessed, it isn't available anywhere in my country and paying for importing and shipping fees is just not convenient for me and my tight budget, so I went for the Coolermaster Masterbox 5, which I got for about $48 dlls. new and shipped, pretty neat. I had to make the choice of more ram and a bigger ssd or a better gfx card, so in the end, I figured ram and ssd costs less and can be upgraded easily later, while I may stay with this gfx card for a while, so I went for the 4GB EVGA 1050 Ti OC card after watching many many reviews (I want to play Overwatch/BF1 mostly and I don't care for Ultra presets, atleast not for now) a 120GB PNY SSD and 8GB of 2666Mhz HyperX ram. I really invested in a somewhat not bottom-line motherboard so I could upgrade the rest of my components for later and got the B250M for about $65. And now the only thing that worries me is if the system will or will not overheat, from my "research" having a case with free space is better for air flow, but also using my logic, the lack of a top grill may impact the temperatures, I just don't know how much. What do you guys recommend I get for cooling? now that I have my system complete, I can start upgrading individual parts and have more time to save up for it.

Hey guy's, I will soon be finished with my last year of school and will go on a year-long exchange in Brazil, I currently have a "good" gaming PC. I currently play with the Idea of selling all the parts online and building a new setup when I come back in Juli 2018. Now this is where I need your help, is this worth it? Will I at the end have a better Gaming setup without spending that much more Money, or is this just a dumb idea and I shouldn't do it? This is my current Gaming setup: CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 v3 Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPOWER SP RAM: 16GB DDR3 GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X Storage: 1x 230GB SSD 2x 128GB SSD (RAID 0) 1x 1TB HDD PSU: 630 Watt be quiet! Pure Power L8 Display(s): Asus PB287Q | Some other Asus Monitor Cooling: My PC is cooled by the freezing winters of Germany I hope this is the right thread, I´m really sorry if it isn´t but I thought that it was the most fitting, if I´m wrong please tell me so I can change it.

Hello guys, I'm new to this community, so I hope to get along with you all I'm doing my first DIY PC and my budget is around 800 USD, maybe a little more. I live in India so the value changes from time to time but to be absolute, I have 55000 INR to complete this. I already have a SSD, so I didn't add any new (also due to tight budget lol) and I don't really need a DVD/Blu-Ray Reader/Writer currently, so left that out too. I would mostly do gaming and little video editing. Here's the link of my build: https://in.pcpartpicker.com/list/rGhPcc If the site opens with US as location, please change it to India because it will most likely will be a lot cheaper there. I made the whole setup with about 4-5 days of research, so there may be some stupid parts picked by me. I'm not really an expert lol. So guys please share you thoughts and suggestion, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Hey! Hope you all are having a great start to the new year. I have a litthe bit of a problem. I am trying to build my first PC and have gained some basic knowledge from Linus's videos and other tutorials on YouTube. I have only used mac as my main driver for as long as I can remember and have only ever played games on console. This is what I have gathered so far for my new PC build. CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7 GHz Case: NZXT S340 Mid Tower in blue PSU: EVGA 500 W1 Bronze Rated Powe supply unit. Storage: WD Blue 1Tb 7200 RPM hard drive Cooler: Stock Cooler (Only for now, will probably upgrade by next year) GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB GDDR5 Please tell me if all of this stuff is compatible, I'm pretty sure it is but it would be nice for the closure. You may notice I don't have a MoBo or RAM listed. Those are the last 2 parts I need. I need a good recommendation for a motherboard. I don't need any special features or overclocking, I just want something with decent on board sound, something that won't fail or break on me within a year and one that supports my processor. RAM is easy to find and I don't need anything on that front. If you have any tips that will help me out please give me everything you've got! However keep in mind I am on a strict 0$-550$ budget because I'm not even old enough to get a job yet to pay for all of this stuff. This is all coming from housework and snowblowing driveways.

So this topic can serve as an overall poll for when you think the best time to buy a phone is. Here are some basic questions to be answered for an individual device. So just ask the question for the device you want to buy and hopefully people will buy. When did it come out? What deals could be coming up? Buy it now or later? And anything else that you think is important. Me personally i am deciding when i should buy the one plus 3. Any tips for me?

I have this weird issue on my wife's laptop. The time shown on taskbar stops after a few minutes of idling and only catches up when something is done with the laptop. It never 'sleeps' because it's currently our HTPC as well as her workstation so I can see the time just stop and stay there. Moving the mouse doesn't do anything but when I open a browser or some other app the clock catches on within a second. This all started after one of the bigger windows updates, could have been the anniversary update or a previous big one. Windows time service is running as it should be. NTP is set to default (and works apparently because when not idling it shows the correct time). Have tried googling, but haven't found this exact issue. Anyone got any ideas?

Hello for 2 months now my computer has had 100% Disk Usage almost all the time along with startups that take 20 minutes to an hour before it is able to open up the windows menu. I have googled this issue and I must have spent 12 hours trying to solve this problem. I have a Toshiba Satellite C55-C and I have had it for 2 years. I have used it for content creation like 3D rendering and game design (I know that it has integrated graphics and a pretty bad CPU but 12 year old me didn't know what that meant at the time) and school. I have tried disabling things like Superfetch, BITS, and Windows Search. I updated my drivers and I even did a factory reset and nothing worked. I am 14 and school takes up a lot of time so right now I can't afford to buy another computer. If you guys have any solutions please let me know. Thank you very much! I built this PC about a year ago: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/parkerahelms/saved/3hTbt6 I have now come across a weird issue with my motherboard where after the system is powered on for 10 minutes, the CMOS time will reset. What I have tried: -Looking up other forum posts talking about a similar issue -set the time 3 times, issue still exists I could reset or update my bios, but I want to do that as a last step (Besides swapping the PSU or motherboard) because I had a hard time getting the M.2 Drive bootable and I don't want to mess up my windows installation. Any help or tips is appreciated!
