  1. CPU Usage stuck at 0.79GHz, This issue started happening after I overclocked my monitor. Used ThrottleStop to disable BD PROCHOT, It fixed the issue for about a day and next day when I try to start my PC it just shuts down after trying to boot into windows and keeps restarting the same process, Temps are under 50 on idle and never go above 60 at full usage. Any help would be appreciated. SPECS: Motherboard: MSI H110M-ECO Processor: Core i5-6500 GPU: ASRock Challenger RX 6600 PSU: Corsair TX650 RAM: 2x 8GB 2133MHz DDR4
  2. hi , i own a dell g15 5510 gaming laptop that packs an i7 10870h with an RTX3060 , i noticed while playing a new game (the finals) some performance issues , therefore i started investigating . i enabled the msi afterburner overlay to check the temps and clock speeds , where i found the temps to be normal (cpu 60-70) (gpu 50-60) , but the issue is the cpu keeps throttling for some reason , i noticed it droping to 800mhz for 1 sec and then get back to 4.1ghz repeatedly , only to find out in the limits section a BD PROCHOT , i knew that the temps are fine , so i disabled the bdprochot setting from throttle stop which fixed it the new temps are (cpu 70-87) (gpu 60-70). but iam concerned . why does it happen in the firstplace , like it bursts the BD PROCHOT doesnt stay active all the time . only when gaming it happens . and the weird thing . i tried to keep the BD PROCHOT on and disable turbo boost which locked the cpu to its stock clock (2.2ghz) , only to find that performance issues are gone , the temps are low , the BD PROCHOT not happening . the only issue then is iam scarificing cpu potential performance. i did a test for about 10-15min and gathered the log files . hopefully it could lead to something . 2024-01-04.txt
  3. Hi all! I've seen a couple of similar posts here, but nothing that maps well enough to the problems I've been having, so I figured I'd start a new thread and hope it works out. Some stats to start off with: i9-10900K with a 360mm AIO cooer on a Z490 Taichi Motherboard running a 4090 GPU on a Corsair RM850X PSU. The screenshot I posted with summary data from HWiNFO64 should speak to the rest of my system specs. My setup has been going through periods of alternating performance issues, during which nearly any kind of effort leaves it struggling to catch up. For example, mousing over app thumbnails in my Steam library has a significant latency to the zoom-on-hover effect, and games that I've previously had no issues running start running with a near-countable number of frames. Periods of poor performance can last several weeks before returning to normal out of nowhere and running like a dream for another several weeks before dropping precipitously with just as little warning. I started diagnosing things using Intel XTU, which was the first time I noticed the EDP Throttling flag. During periods of poor performance, it was activated almost immediately upon reboot, but when my computer was working properly, it didn't show up at all. This most recent period of poor performance has started off without the XTU EDP Throttling flag, I started digging into other tools beyond XTU, like ThrottleStop and HWiNFO64 (screenshots from which are attached to this post). I didn't include the TS Limit window in the screenshot, but it's got ONLY a near-constant red EDP Other block in the Ring section, whereas HWiNFO64 shows IA Limits from Max Turbo Limit and Turbo Attenuation. More importantly though, it shows Ring Limits due to EDP-type constraints in line with those shown by TS. Looking through the other EDP-related issues on this and other forums, I've checked things like the ICCMax Values, etc., and they're already set as high as possible, so I'm running out of steps to take next. A couple of interesting notes: I tried several different Benchmarking approaches, all of which get throttled to just under 800MHz, with core temps not to barely exceeding 30 deg C I can physically distinguish between periods of poor performance and acceptable performance by the amount of heat being radiated from my computer. If it's working properly, I can feel the hot air being vented from my PC under stress (while keeping temps below 60-70 deg C in monitoring software) I mentioned it before, but these swaps between poor performance and proper performance are infrequent. If my computer is terrible, it's terrible for a long time. If it's good, it's good for a long time, not a lot of switching back and forth. I'm not looking to overclock anything. I just want my computer to work right again. My current guess is there's just a bad sensor somewhere that I need to disable, but I don't want to accidentally fry something. I barely know anything about Computer Hardware/Engineering, so ELI5 responses are welcome! Thanks, --KSFrosty
  4. Previously I used throttlestop to reduce the MSI GF65 I7-10750 CPU tdp to 25 watts and it ran smoothly. However, right now I need full performance, but the problem is that the max CPU TDP is still at 25 watts even though I have uninstalled TS. Then I re-downloaded and increased the TDP to 55 watts but there was no change, it remained at 25 watts. can you help me?
  5. Hello, I have recently used ThrottleStop to undervolt my new laptop cpu. It works great. But I'm curious, how do I get it to start on boot up and more importantly how do I get it to minimize on startup to the system tray. There is a setting to minimize it to the taskbar but I was hoping to have it just in the system tray. Thanks
  6. Hello everyone I have a question about the speed shift value in ThrottleStop and about undervolting i have a Lenovo legion laptop with the following specs: i7-9750h rtx2060 mobile 90W 16gb of ddr4 memory in double channel mode 8gb*2 I’ve been tweaking my offset voltage for the core and the cache using throttle stop I have -0.270 for the core and -0.150 for the cache and a SpeedShift Value of 0 so far so good there are no craches when I do aida64 stress tests and I have a cinebench r20 score of 2850. My question is about the speed shift value, is keeping the value at 0 even when I only do light work like studying dangerous or bad for the cpu, the clock frequency are higher but my idle temps didn’t change and if anything got a bit lower it seems, they are at usually 45 or 44° Celsius, the temps while stress testing don’t go above 93°. Thank you very much for taking time to answer my thread

  8. Hi everyone, I am tweaking the CPU voltage with throttlestop. I managed to get rid of thermal throttling by undervolting the CPU and the result are evident: in cinebench r23 the multicore frequency stays near the max (which in my case is 3 Ghz) without thermal throttling. Note that in this test the CPU didn't exceed the PL1 level or it rarely exceeded the PL1 level just a bit and for few seconds. Anyway, while testing the stability of the CPU with OCCT, I noticed that the CPU at the start it exceeded the PL1 limit going up to the PL2 limit for maybe 20 seconds. After that, as usual, the power draw drop to PL1 level, the CPU power throttled and the max frequency went down to 2.7/2.8 Ghz. I mean, that's not a big deal, and I also think that in a real usage I won't exceed the PL1 limit, but is possibile to limit the power usage to PL1 level in order to avoid power throttling?
  9. Hello kind people, So, I'll try to keep it short. About half a year ago, I installed bootcamp on my MacBook Pro 16' (i7, 5500M, 16BG Ram), since all I wanted to do is play league of legends and theoretically, my MBP should run all over my old PC (4 year old dual core i3...). Now the performance was... underwhelming... I tried using throttle stop in Windows to get the Game running smoother. After spending days and still not having a good experience, I eventually became so annoyed, that I deleted the bootcamp drive. But now my actual problem: I'm getting extreme performance issues in MacOS... especially, when I connect my Monitor (full HD), I can't even use Lightroom while I'm in a Zoom meeting... The "kernel task" in the activity monitor just goes through the roof. Is it possible, that my fiddling around with throttle stop in bootcamp now bites me in the behind after going back to MacOSß Thank you in advance!!
  10. So the problem happen recently when I was noticing a huge frame drops in game when usually it gets stable 80 FPS (locked 80 fps because my laptop is really hot), then opened Task Manager and ThrottleStop to see the temps and CPU Clock The temperature is dropping from usual (around 75-82 C when running game) to 65 C, and the Maximum CPU Clock was just around 1.4Ghz. Throttlestop is running on startup with Highest Privileges in Task Scheduler Throttlestop settings : - CPU Core -80.1 mV - CPU Cache -40.0 mV - Intel iGPU -40.0 mV - Turbo Ratio Limits All Cores 22 > 2.2GHz Things I've done to solve : - Resetting Windows - System Restore - Updating BIOS - Resetting ThrottleStop to default setting and restart - Downgrade to ThrottleStop 9.2 (I'm using ThrottleStop 9.3 before) *The underclocking to 1.4GHz is only happen when ThrottleStop running Asus A409JP specs : - Intel Core i5-1035G1 quad-core (8 thread) 1GHz TurboBoost 3,6GHz - Graphics Intel UHD Graphics G1 and Nvidia GeForce MX330 VRAM 2GB GDDR5 - RAM 4GB DDR4-2666MHz + G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4-2666MHz 8GB = 12GB Ram
  11. Hello, to day I am wondering when I do a strees test on my laptop on ThrottleStop it gets errors no stop if it has undervolt or no undervolt. I have a i7 10750h. What should I do?
  12. Hello everyone sorry if my post isn’t fitting forum rules etc to a tee, new here. so I used to use throttlestop to keep my laptops cpu clocks down at 3.4 ghz to prevent overheating. I’d game at 65-75 on the cpu which I was very comfortable with. i was updating drivers from nvidia experience so I thought I should get all my windows updates done aswell. after updating my bios curtesy of asus also updated and I went from bios 305 to 306. Problem was because intel had another “liability” they had to block off control of cpu settings that throttle stop and xtu used so I could t keep my temps low anymore. I decided I’d downgrade the bios to 305, went to asus website found the 305 bios for my laptop model and used winflash alongside cmd prompt, to prevent winflash from realizing I was flashing older bios, and downgraded. Everything was fine after trying to see if o could change clock speeds with throttlestop, which worked, I decided to give the system a restart to make sure everything just started fresh. on startup my laptop went to BIOS screen and updated itself back to 306 so I gave up on the whole downgrading. my problem now is video playback doesn’t work, not only on web browsing such as YouTube or twitch but also local video files there’s audio but no video. also when dragging windows around they start off smooth but they lag behind and have this like slow motion effect. Any help is appreciated sorry for any typos UPDATE : went through to check windows update finished them all and the lagging windows are no more but there is still no video playback from files or YouTube videos or twitch or Netflix etc I get audio just fine. Tried launching Minecraft to see if that works and it’s running fine no problems.
  13. Is it possible Asus won't let me undervolt my laptop? I tried to do it with Throttlestop but everything is grayed out. ASUS VivoBook 15 S513EA-BN3088W
  14. I have an asus vivobook X509FJ....recently laptop was getting really hot... SO i decided to undervolt using throttle stop Despite the sliders not greyed out...setting any value on it does not seem to actually do any kind of voltage changes (shown in the tabular column on the right....It used to update every time I made a change when TS worked).....-100mv is the stable offset for my CPu (TS worked fine until the device was running windows 20H2.After the 21H1 update TS stopped working....both older and newer versions dont help....Intel XTU is of no help either)
  15. Installed Project64 on my pc before reboot, and it runs fine. but when try to run project64 after reboot pc they give this error "Cannot open a ROM because plugins have not successfully initialized" when try to open ROM on Project64, Some applications such as VMware and ThrottleStop ran fine before reboot, after reboot pc it get c000003e error when try to run those applications. I also tried RetroArch on Linux it works fine but after reboot pc it crashes when loading content. VMware also works fine in Linux without errors. I also tried Windows 8.1 it gets same issue. Health in two HDDs is even good. Two HDDs don't have bad sectors issue. PC Specs: CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K GPU: AMD HD 6570 RAM: 4GB RAM OS: Crunchbang++ 64bit and Windows 10 64bit HDD: 2x500 GB HDD. 16. I have a Acer Nitro 5 (an515-54) laptop with an i5-9300h, and I've been recently trying out some undervolting settings. I've done undervolting before in Intel XTU and Throttlestop, and it worked back then: I got lower cpu temps, I got crashes while trying to find the sweet spot of the voltage offset. None of that seems to be happening anymore. I've just tried monitoring how my cpu clocks change during the aida64 stress test depending on the undervolting settings, and there didn't seem to be any noticeable difference. There are also no crashes regardless of how low i set the core offset. Can it be possibly caused by switching to windows 11? I have also gotten an external monitor pretty recently, so maybe it has something to do with that. I've also included my throttlestop settings in case any of them are wrong.
  17. Hello guys, my cousin offered me his laptop for my birthday. I installed a few games and tried playing but it is getting way too hot and loud, and it's obviously affecting the performance. (http://prntscr.com/rkqisf) I tried repasting, undervolting the CPU and GPU,Updated the BIOS cleaning the fans but it didn't make any difference even at 3.5Ghz ! It's an I7 8750H who's apparently known for running hot, but in most undevolting tutorial they manage to lower temps by 8 or 9°C. It's an omen 15 chassis. The GPU is a 1070maxQ, i might have done the GPU undervolt wrong tho so i'll link the curve. I ordered liquid metal to see if it makes any difference but i really doubt it. I'll take any of your ideas if you are willing to help me fix it. Thanks for reading me!
  18. I want to underclock my cpu to reduce temps. I'm using Intel XTU right now because i can analyse the temps and clocks with the graphs and stress test but it seems kind of buggy. Many recommended to use throttlestop but i want to have a stress test and stats as like in xtu to know the reason for performance drops temps etc( using hwinfo but it doesn't seem to have continuous data analysis or stress test) So please suggest some tools to analyze reason for throttling, graphs like xtu and a good way to stress test. A Newbie here kind of hard to get things right Please help!
  19. Good day, Im a newbie in this forum and I would like to ask if how can I resolve my problem. My problem is I bought a second hand laptop, HP Elitebook 8460w to be exact and I overclocked it so it turns off permanently. I also used throttle stop to increase its performace and after a 5-10 mins, Poof! I mean its just the power light is blinking rapidly about quarter sec pulses. No fan, no screen, and either noise came up. I tried to reset its bios. And also this laptop has no batteries just a plug. So I wonder how can I resolve this.
  20. Ok, so I recently got a Thinkpad T460p ( i7-6700hq) and i decided to undervolt it. When I undervolt for 150mV and do the stress test using prime 95, the cpu temp. skyrocket to more than 95 °c in less than 1 minutes so I thought the undervolting is not enough so i try 160mV ( >95 °c) and the same things happen and I quickly stop prime 95 but then the computer froze, later I tried undervolt 155mv ( obviosly it would fry my cpu more than 95° in a few minutes too) 2 times and I also press on the stop button but in these 2 cases the computer doesnt froze. After that I tried to disable turbo boost and 1 hour stress test at 160mV (155mV should be fine too) undervolting is fine (max temp 80) but when i tried 170mV ( without turbo boost too) bsod happen again. What should i do? Actually if I I disable turbo boost and run at stock voltage , the laptop will already skyrocket to more than 95 °c in a few minutes. If I undervolt it between 155-165( without turbo too) it would stay below 80 degree celcius ) I would like to go for the non-software method but I hope that there is anyone who cant help to analyse and tackle my issue before I do the thermal repaste...
  21. I have a gaming Laptop, which I bought used but in mint condition, Asus FX504GM (i7 8750H, gtx 1060 6gb, 8gb ram) and using windows 10 pro, original cable and charger. -Laptop is plugged in and the battery is charging. Battery works well. -Power option is already set to High Performance and CPU min and max is set to 100%. -I already tried reinstalling windows, drivers. -I already checked BIOS and could not find any multipliers or other related settings to CPU, power, thermals or this issue. -CPU is not overheating and gets stuck on 60 C degrees, -Fan is spinning. -I tried running ThrottleStop but it has an issue. There were two .dll and after adding them to the folder, I started getting error "unable to start correctly error (0xc000007b)" What else I can do to resolve this issue? Has anyone ever dealt with it before?
  22. I do a little pc flipping on the side and have run into a problem. I have 2 identical Dell Optiplex 7040 micro systems with 8gb ram, 128gb m.2 ssd, and i7 6700t processors, and they have dramatically different benchmark numbers, such as on Cinebench R15 mulit-core, mid to lower 300's on the problem CPU, vs mid to upper 600's on the good one. I've tried sooo many things (newer and older bios versions, reinstall Windows, change c-states, tweak Windows power plans, repaste cpu, etc...) I swapped the CPU between systems and the issue follows the CPU. When running benchmarks, the notable difference between how the two CPUs perform is the problem one has wildly fluctuating voltage and multiplier when watching CPU-Z while benchmarking, particularly multi-core tests seem to do it more than single core. When running a stress test in CPU-Z it seems to hold it's higher clock, but won't in benchmarks. In contrast, the good CPU (when running on either system) holds a steady boost clock and voltage on all cores during a bench run. Anyone have a clue to what's up with the CPU? Is it something that can be caused by being physically dirty on the connections? Is it just a loss on the silicon lottery? Could something like Throttlestop or Intel Extreme Tuning utility mitigate the issue? I disabled Speedstep and it stays at it's lower base clock of 2.8ghz but it actually benches better (low 500's cb Cinebench R15) since it stays consistent, but not as good as it could be, obviously. The suspect system still runs fine for normal use, just as an enthusiast and hobby refurbisher, it pains me knowing one isn't up to snuff. Any insights or experience with such an anomaly? Thanks!
  23. Hi there, I have a razer blade that has been replaced once because of bad thermals the new one looks fine most of the time, but it's getting super hot faster than I think it should be. Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz GPU: GeForce GTX 1070 with Max-Q Design I've followed pretty much all the links about throttlestop with the razer blade, the last one that I tried was this one: But I'm still seeing some red flags on the Limit Reason on Throttlestop, using the Test Bench from Throttle Stop I'm seeing this: I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, this is my current settings on Throttle Stop: Does anyone have an idea If something looks off? Or I'm doing something wrong?
  24. My laptop has just finished doing a bunch of driver and software updates adressing the whole Intel security mishap and as always with Dell they "fix" something they break something else. ThrottleStop has now suddenly stopped working and my undervolts and other settings have just suddenly stopped applying. Which is a real bummer as my laptop, G7 17 (7790), like most others of the same model get hot enough to boil water. How long would I be waiting for the developer of ThrottleStop to address this new issue? Their an amazing developer and in my opinion the best thing thats happened for all laptops out there. But I have a feeling as if this issue is only going to apply to Dell users so Im not too sure of its priority...
