Start of with the build list. Threadripper 2970wx Asus Prime X399 32gb (4x8) G.Skill 3200mhz Geforce RTX2080 FE Cooler Master MWE 750w PSU So those are the parts of my 3D modelling and creation work station i've been using for the past 2/3 years now. It's been plagued by slow load times, the keyboard whenever typing randomly crashes any program on some startups "although this has been an extremely rare problem but only become frequent in these past couple weeks", the gpu in the past 3 weeks stopped displaying an output no fans would spin and the geforce badge wouldn't lightup. I sent the gpu off for warranty and the people could not find any issue with it or replicate the issue. The issue is extremely simple to replicate on my end just turn the pc on it will either replicate the issue or not. But i'm still getting the issue. After another repair shop looked at my computer they were unable to find what could be causing the issues either and got the computer to output a display... At least when they had it display for a short bit of time then would completely shut off the display and start spinning the fans at their highest. I do not know what is wrong with my computer and honestly in a panic as the warranty period coming close to it's end and the parts of the pc are expensive. I am in desperate need of help finding the culprit.

Hi, Been looking at these for an upcoming 2950x build. No one lists compatibility, why not? Is there an issue with the X399 chipset for these timings? Would these work? QVL for the board lists the CMU32GX4M4C3000C15 kit (Vengeance). This runs at the same speed ratings and voltages, I can only conclude that it's a lack of testing. Unless I'm missing something about compatibility of X399/2nd gen thridripper with dominators?? Sounds weird, but sounds weird for several grand makes me want to question first, pay later. Bonus points, kinda curious what these look like benched if anyone has results/links. Specs Otherwise if you're curious: Asus X399-A 2950X Quadro 4000 RTX CMT32GX4M4C3000C15 (4x8GB kit) 970 Evo Plus 500GB 240mL AIO Lian Li PC-011 Dynamic

Hello everyone, im new to this forum and ive never used one before, im looking for advice or help because im building a Threadripper 2950x system, im interested on using the GIGABYTE X399 AORUS Xtreme (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G7CCG3N/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1#customerReviews) as my motherboard but i would like to know if it will support the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4-24000) C15 1.35V Desktop Memory (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N3GV5BH/ref=crt_ewc_img_dp_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) Does anyone know if that motherboard would support the ram memory? Thanks

Gang, I know this is my first post, but don't hold it against me. I've been a long time fan of LTT and just have mustered up the courage to reach out to the community. I've been forever a gamer but in the last year I was blessed with a son which has taken the majority of my time away from my passion (for good reasons). Seeing as gaming is my passion, I'm attempting to step into the world of game creation and design. I am by trade a .NET developer (C# baby). I decided that I needed to sell my PC during the pregnancy so that I could focus more on the family. Now that he is a little older and all that I want to get back into the swing of things. Alas, I'm reaching out to the community for some help. I want to build a machine that will last a good 5-6 years. My budget is flexible but would want to keep it around $2,500-$3,000USD The original post said that you needed some information about what this would be for. 1.) PRIMARY - Blender, Unity, Photoshop, Visual Studio 2019 Enterprise 2.) SECONDARY - Gaming the latest titles, whenever I would have time. What I don't need 1.) Monitor, my current monitor is a 49in Dell Ultrawide 5120x1440 2.) mouse/keyboard - I have the new Logi MX Master 3 MX Keys (I do use a MacBook occasionally. Don't hold it against me) While I know my current monitor isn't all that great for gaming, I thought about getting a second 49in ultra wide from samsung. Big Gaming Monitor but that might be for a later time. Okay, so now that you know what I'm using this thing for and what I don't need. Let's get started! 1.) I'll wait and be patient and will want a new gen Threadripper. 2.) I would like to make this a liquid cooled machine 3.) I need a case that can house this thing ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you had $3k to spend, knowing that you didn't need a monitor what would you do? NOTE: If it's over/under by a couple hundred dollars, that isn't going to be a deal breaker I look forward to some honest help. Best, J, at project924

-------------------- Back story/experience ---------------- I went with a Threadripper build because of the benchmark I saw on different sites. At the time I thought Higher Benchmark = Higher FPS in gaming, but when i was running CPU demanding games like Minecraft, League of Legends i realized that the CPU wasn't meant for gaming (even though AMD states that the Threadripper x-series is for gamers and enthusiasts) The reason I thought a Threadripper was great, was because of the "for enthusiasts"-part since edit videos and do some 3D-renderings and stuff as well. It doesn't run Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve smoothly, but that's another topic. Also, in case I wanted to upgrade in the future i knew AMD used the same sockets for the next generations. (RIP gen 3) I didn't understand why my current PC-build didn't run with 300-400fps on 1080p when my old rig with GTX 960 and i5-SomeOldGen ran at 120fps. Especially when I ran games like overwatch at 200-300fps. But I figured out that it must be my CPU, and It's because League of Legends runs almost entirely on CPU-processing with minimal multi-core support. I have a Gigabyte RTX 2080 Gaming OC 8GB afterall. I currently run League Of Legends on 120FPS Capped with medium-low settings 1080p. It drops down to a place between 50-100FPS in team fights when a lot is going on, on the screen. Uncapped it usually stays in an area between 120-240FPS (outside team fights) --------------- Now comes the question ---------------- Will upgrading my TR 1920x to a TR 2920x increase my FPS and general performance a lot? I saw these two links comparing FPS with Ryzen Threadrippers in League of Legends, and the difference between 1920x and 2950x seemed significant. https://www.gpucheck.com//compare-game-cpu/league-of-legends/amd-ryzen-5-3600-vs-amd-ryzen-threadripper-1920x https://www.gpucheck.com/compare-game-cpu/league-of-legends/amd-ryzen-7-3700x-vs-amd-ryzen-threadripper-2950x/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060 I saw some videos on YouTube with comparisons and the performance increase didn't seem all the great. Thought they didn't review games like League of Legends and Minecraft, where CPU means a lot. ----------------------------- Specs --------------------------- GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 GAMING OC 8G CPU: Ryzen Threadripper 1920X MOBO: ASRock x399 Taichi RAM: 2x16GB DDR4 G.Skill Aegis 3000MHz PSU: 650W eVGA SuperNova 650 G2 CPU-Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S (Temperatures are fine)

Hi guys, I encountered and issue and can't seem to find the solution. My PC had an Intel i7 6800k and its respective mobo, I just switch to an AMD 2950x, which I will use primarily for work but I also game on my PC. Everything seemed to be fine, I reinstall almost everything except for Windows and what I had on my SSD, however the thing is that I can't play any game as all of them crash as soon as I open them. I really hope any of you can help me Thank you.

Parts: Asrock x399 Taichi, AMD Threadripper 2950x, 4x16gb 3200mhz Corsair Vengeance LPX (in A2, B2, C2, and D2 slots) Bios settings: Memory Interleaving - channel, XMP profile on - 3200 mhz, performance enhancer - level 3, oc mode - oc3 I'm running two windows installs (one per NUMA node) on a Manjaro host - everything else works great. I know it's slightly older tech now, but I've been running at 2133 for a while now because I never figured this out and it bothers me. Now if I leave the XMP profile disabled, lstopo shows two NUMA nodes with 31 gigs each and the bios says they're running at 2133 mhz. If I enable XMP to get that 3200mhz, lstopo shows one NUMA node with 63 gigs of ram. What am I missing? Why would enabling an XMP profile force the system into UMA mode even with memory interleaving set to channel? My understanding is that Zen+ performance is more tied to ram timings since it binds the infinity fabric speed, so running at 3200 mhz would really be ideal if I could keep both NUMA nodes! I'd also rather keep NUMA mode if possible since that will reduce latency for my two VMs. Though maybe the increased ram speed in UMA mode would make up for it?

I built my first Threadripper pc a little while ago and I am definitely in love with my system. My build is a Asus Zenith Extreme Alpha motherboard, bios version 2001 x64(probably outdated) Threadripper 2920x 12 core. 64gb 16x4 3200 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro Ram (CMW32GX4M2C3200C16) Corsair H115i Platinum AIO RTX Titan stock cooler Corsair HX 1200 psu Corsair 750D case Airflow edition I built this for light gaming and 3D rendering/animation and so far it's doing great for that, but I know I got some extra horsepower hidden in there somewhere. What I'm really after is a ram boost cause the bios states it only going 2133MHz and taskmanager shows 1064MHz. A slight cpu overclock would be nice too but I don't need a toaster, it idles at 32C-34C (sometimes 29C) and top temp I've seen is 69C(nice). I think I can get better performance from my software if I can overclock my ram to close to max as possible, and a tiny bit from cpu. Cpu clocks are not that big of a issue for me but every little bit helps. I have never overclocked before and I would like some advice for my particular setup. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I‘ve started a rendering last night to let it finish over night. When I woke up today and went to my PC it was out. So I tried to restart it but it didn’t start up. So I tried the powerbutton on the back and I noticed the fans where starting up for a second but stopping directly again. So I opened the case to check if something visible wasn’t right and after it wasn’t I tried it a third time with the case opened. But when I pressed the button an arc/a flame where between the cpu, the graphic card and the right ram slots. I directly flipped the power switch, but it had already shut down like the two times before. I immediately checked the area, but there wasn’t anything visibly wrong, even after I removed the graphic card, CPU cooler and the ram. Now I‘m pretty clueless what to do, because I don’t have any idea where I should even start to check what’s wrong, because I‘m afraid that if I don’t get everything at first glance out what is maybe broken, those things will take something else with them into the void, if that’s not already the case. And also I don’t have the spare parts to check everything on it’s own. So do you have any ideas what’s to do? Also, if for example a faulty motherboard took the cpu with it, is this covers by the warranty of the motherboard or who has to pay for the new cpu? the specs: Threadripper 2990WX Gigabyte X399 Aorus Xtreme 8x Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB 2080ti Founders Edition Corsair HX Platinum 1200+ Platinum The parts where bought August/September 2018, so they should all still have warranty. Thanks for any help, regards, JP

Even though the price says $2,400 that is in CAD and that is $1,835USD AMD is having quite the umm... not losing streak? With Ryzen gen 1 they rose back from Bulldozer past with a punch. But with there desktop Ryzen gen 2 chips looking like a refresh that we are all to familiar with, (cough) Intel. It doesn't look the same for there higher end counter parts. "Threadripper 2990X flagship processor was recently spotted listed at a Canadian retailer" It is said to be a 32 core 64 thread processor with a price tag of $1,835 which is incomparable to anything Intel has to offer, at least when it comes to core count. The nearest Intel chip is the i9 7980XE with only 18 cores and a price tag of $1,879. The new Threadripper 2 chips are cheaper with almost double the cores. But there is a caveat, your going to need one hell of a cooler to tame this 250W beast. Source: wccftech.com

I am wanting to switch up my Windows 2003 Server with something newer. However as I read in several forums, those win 2003 server cannot run on newer hardware, therefore I am thinking about running the 2016 server then running a vm for win 2003 server. win 2003 server is needed because we have a very old program for our factory that can only be run from win xp Do you have any opinion or advices for me to do this perfectly? Approximated budget is around 1000-1500 usd thank you in advance
