Just saw this article. More and more things with Microsoft are going open source. Heck, the MS calculator app is open source and was even ported to Android. Do they really have a new perspective on the topic then about a decade ago? Here is the article: https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2020/5/18/21262103/microsoft-open-source-linux-history-wrong-statement?__twitter_impression=true

https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/11/17846512/facebook-rosetta-meme-machine-learning-text-recognition-hate-speech "Facebook is building AI to help them out. In a blog post today, Facebook describes a system it’s built called Rosetta that uses machine learning to identify text in images and videos and then transcribe it into something that’s machine readable." "Facebook says text extraction and machine learning are being put to use to “automatically identify content that violates our hate-speech policy” and that it’s doing so in multiple languages." How will Facebook decide what is offensive and not offensive? What else will they be doing with this data?

Well, the news is out my friends. Ryzen 2 is on, and it's now available for pre order, how exciting!!! According to The Verge I'm glad that they're not announcing all the details just yet, I always love a surprise on release and I'm sure all those of you reading do too. Now obviously, there's going to be four second generation chips, those will be as follows (taken from The Verge): Great to see that the coolers are on AMD this year across ALL AMD Ryzen CPU's, I'm sure it was a bugger for those of you out there who didn't want to buy a new cooler just for socket AM4 unless you bought one of their higher end solutions. You'll also be unsurprised to know that Now the new X470 chipset, that is VERY interesting to me. Could that be a new enthusiast chipset to overthrow the current enthusiast chipset, X370? I daresay it is and I do think that it would pair beautifully with AMD's new StoreMI feature as now, hybrids are no more when you buy AMD systems. You can have your speed and capacity together, have all that cake at once, your boot drive is now one with your storage once more! Now what do you all think to this exciting information and are you hyped for Ryzen 2? Let me know down in the comments below! Oh right, yeah, the source is here: https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2018/4/13/17233630/amds-second-generation-ryzen-processors-available-preorder

Oculus stops blocking Vive owners from playing exclusive Rift games - The Verge https://apple.news/ABwk6B6ccTpeYmDKgGOYblw It looks like the first step towards games no longer being lovked to a single type of headset! If the other side could just get on board, that would be awesome! although, tbh, im waiting until we have something like the OASIS in Ready Player One!

I was watching a couple of The Verge reviews on some products (iPad Pro and Surface Pro 4), but noticed some odd points made in the reviews. The iPad Pro reviewer sees the iPad Pro as a product that can definitely replace her laptop for business trips (although it only has one operating angle). This is controversial because The Verge has extensively criticized the Surface's (Pro 2) 2 stage kickstand, The Surface Pro 3 and 4 are also criticized to be 'unusable' on the lap but doesn't the indefinite viewing angles compensate for that? The Verge doesn't think so . Why is it that since it's an Apple product you treat it differently - as if it had no flaws. But hey, we all have different opinions; it just doesn't seem fair. What do you think? Or do you ignore The Verge's reviews?

http://recode.net/2015/08/12/nbcuniversal-buys-big-chunks-of-vox-media-and-buzzfeed/ Read it yourself. Obviously Re/code is owned by Vox, so it's one sided but still. Let's discuss below. How one-sided will Verge articles be now? I'm interested to see what will happen to The Verge's credibility more than anything.

The Verge Article Writeup on /r/OutofTheLoop After the firing of Victoria Taylor, the organizer of AMA's for many subs and the unofficial community liaison to the admins, many subreddit moderators are closing the doors to their subreddits in protest. The first to go was /r/Iama with the statement, "for /r/IAMA to work the way it currently does, we need Victoria. Without her, we need to figure out a different way for it to work we will need to go through our processes and see what can be done without her." -/u/Karmanaut Eventually, the blackout movement evolved into a protest of the lack of communication between reddit admins and moderators, and the lack of good moderation tools. The movement has picked up speed and has spread from default subreddits only, to many non-default subreddits sitewide. The writeup on OutofTheLoop goes in to far more depth. Quote from The Verge "While Taylor's dismissal is a catalyst for the decision to make prominent subreddits private, moderators say that there has been a long-running feeling among their number that Reddit does not value their work or communicate effectively. "Dropping this on all of us in the AMA sphere feels like an enormous slap to those of us who put in massive amounts of time to bring quality content to reddit," r/science mod "nallen" writes. The moderators of r/AskReddit — a default subreddit with 8 million subscribers — also hint that the fact Reddit didn't consult or warn them about Taylor's dismissal, rather than the dismissal itself, was the key factor in making it private. "As a statement on the treatment of moderators by Reddit administrators," a note on the subreddit currently reads, "as well as a lack of communication and proper moderation tools, /r/AskReddit has decided to go private for the time being."

First off, keep it civil. I want to know, do you guys think The Verge are Apple shills? I keep seeing and hearing people say this with no real grounding in their argument, while I am also seeing/hearing people do exactly the opposite OOT to make you guys laugh, _ASSASSIN_'s Quotable Quotes from LTT. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Q4FAc6aY2dSaRL8h1Lc-gd8jWvl-fw4hDbA5FInGes0/

Who's fighting to save the internet now So it seems that we ended up making some noise. Looks like senators and business's are starting to realize that what the FCC is doing is completely the opposite of what they should be doing. It seems like everyone's finally taking this seriously or at least some major players are.

An article on the Verge ( link below ) hints that achievements/ in game chat and other good stuff might come to android games. "The file contains references to achievements, in-game chat, matchmaking, cloud save syncing, and leaderboards, along with a green controller-shaped icon". Personally i find this to be cool since achievements can make the game's life longer and more interesting. I have no idea where i'd use in game chat though, maybe in poker to bluff but yeah lol What do you guys think? Good or bad? As the first comment on the page says, they are all democrats. The republicans are the problem(as usual, unfortunately). Gotta keep making noise so people will relieze this is a problem and FCC needs to stop beating around the bush with bs and pull their balls out of their asses. The Verge: I love America, and I want to buy T-Mobile Ok we've known for awhile that Sprint has been looking to buy T-mobile but i think this the first time i've seen Masayoshi Son come out and say what he has to say about it. Apparently after getting "rebuffed by Tom Wheeler earlier this year" Masayoshi thinks that he can get what he wants if he turns to the public instead. He wants to be able to put up a fight against the likes of Verizon and AT&T. He says that he knows that America's internet sucks and that he can help us BUT ONLY if he can buy T-Mobile. He wants to take "on the nation’s broadband providers with a world-beating wireless network fast enough to replace even a wired connection." The problems are obvious that: 1. wireless is nowhere near as good as wired atleast not yet 2. T-Mobile is doing pretty good on their own and i dont see how merging would create competition 3. Thanks to Google and small internet companies internet speeds are rising in parts on the US and spreading, if slowly Those are the three i can come up with right now atleast, I'm sure you guys can come up with more. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think he should be able to buy T-Mobile or do you think this is a load of BS.

FCC chairman reportedly revises net neutrality Apparently the voice of the internet was load enough to get through the money ISP's have been shoving into Tom Wheeler's ears but i still don't buy it. The courts gave him multiple chance before this to change the rules and even straight up asked him why dont you just reclassify them but he never took the chances or came up with some bullshit reason not to. Even if he is going to revise his proposal im not expecting there to be any major changes in it. This is a case of giving him a second chance because he's had multiple chances to get this right and he screws up on all of them. Hell even people within the FCC think his plan is bs but idk i guess we'll see what happens. I can tell you one thing though im gonna start learning different languages cause if NN is killed in America im moving to a different country.

YOUR CORPORATE INTERNET NIGHTMARE STARTS NOW Ok this isn't really news per-say but its a What/if scenario and an interesting look at what life could be like if 1 of the ISP's just ends up owning everything, basically turning into a monopoly. Shows what would happen if websites that aren't paying for a fast lane are slow so you don't use them and they die off. Basically gets into how the fact that if this happened it would influence your decisions on what to buy and where to buy it. It's a neat little story that doesn't take long to read and puts into perspective how important it is to have Net Neutrality and how the FCC has been fucking royally for too long and shit needs to change.

The real battle for net neutrality just began Ok so if any of you didn't know the FCC met today to decide whether or not to adopt Tom Wheeler's new/revised proposal for Net Neutrality and guess what? They agreed to it......Now Some of you might be thinking its the end of the world, which it might be, but its not yet. We still have 60 days to comment on it before it's law and give them our opinion on it. So I urge you to go on FCC's website and tell them what you think about it, if you care.

The Verge: Kickstarter’s next campaign So kickstater has made 3 major changes to it's platform: "The rules for creators have been simplified from about 1,000 words to less than 300 "Previously banned products are allowed back on the platform." "Projects can now opt to "Launch Now" and bypass Kickstarter’s approval process." It seems like they are making these changes to better compete with Indiegogo, which is less restrictive the Kickstarter. Though before a person can launch or get feedback their project is checked "for rule violations that could take as little as five minutes. That check will now be done by an algorithm that looks at keywords in the campaign, the creator’s track record on Kickstarter, and other metrics to create a profile of the project and compare it to similar projects that have been approved, rejected, flagged, and removed. If the campaign passes the algorithmic check, the creator can choose to either launch without a human review or request feedback from the Kickstarter team." This will greatly speed up the approval process and make things more efficient. How do you guys like the changes? Do you think they will help or hinder kickstarter? Do you think they shouldn't have changed?

Source: The Verge If it ain't broke don't fix it I guess. Never got hands on with a M7 but its reputation speaks for itself. I'm happy they're finally ditching capacitive buttons since I personally prefer software buttons. Here's to hoping there's a GPE version too!

So Verizon is at it again i guess. I don't live in the US, but it looks like the big, mean ISP's aren't the only ones to blame here. I don't quite understand the graph completely, but it looks like Netlfix is using congested lines on purpose. Here's the article http://www.theverge.com/2014/7/10/5888239/verizon-netflix-congestion What do you think? Grts Pieter

AT&T exclusivity. $299 on contract. Pre-orders begin today with the phone shipping July 25th. For a limited time, it includes a year of Prime ($100 value). Additionally, there appears to be no options for expandable storage.Personal thoughts below Initial impressions at the beginning of the briefing: From what I've seen, this device seems to be a tool to drive more business to Amazon whether it be their Prime service or the things Amazon sells. Smart move imo since hardware is not profitable nowadays unless you're Apple of course. The platform of the presentation was trust and if you get a consumer to trust you and you please them, more than likely you keep their business. EDIT1 - Impressions halfway : This is a joke. AT&T exclusivity (exclusive AT&T phones have historically flopped excluding the iPhone), and $299 for an on contract phone with no real outstanding features. I'm blown away by Amazon's boldness. I'm curious to see how this turns out. EDIT2 - Ok I guess it's a bit unfair to get hung up on pricing but outside of Firefly, I see nothing truly innovative or game changing. I doubt they'll do this but it only makes sense to bring Firefly to Android and iOS Developing...Source:Other Sources: Click here to view the article
