Looking for a GPU for a new build for my son. Was going to purchase a NIB EVGA RTX 3060 12GB but had a local GPU come available that I'm considering. It's an ASUS RTX 3060ti Knockout Edition (KO). I can't find much on that KO card so was hoping you all can help me make a quick decision on which card would yield the best performance at 1440p. I did run to my max budget and was told by a friend I paid more than he thought it was worth even though I waited til black friday to buy it all. I am going from an HP Notebook - 15-r132wm to this so please keep that in mind. That thing was so horribly slow it was nothing, but disappointing.

Hi guys any help/advice greatly appreciated. Specs: Asus Strix ROG z390-e gaming MoBo i7 9700K (no OC etc) Asus Strix 2080ti OC edition (factory OC) Corsair Dominator platinum RGB 3200MHz Corsair h115i rgb platinum AIO Corsair rm750x PSU OS loaded on a new 860 evo 250gb SSD I built this (my first PC) a few days ago. I wore a grounding bracelet and used a grounded mat when building/touching components. I spent like 6hrs making sure everything was done correctly. Windows installed, drivers installed etc. So I load up the new cod and play (max settings) everything is fine the first few hours/sessions. Then last night mid game it just shuts down. No warnings, no sounds, just shuts off. The motherboard rgb lights are on still. The power button doesnt do anything. I flick psu switch, wait 10 secs then turn on and reboot. I then go back on cod and around 30 mins later it shuts down in the warzone loading screen (your squads characters are walking along a bridge in the menu background and I believe it to be of low graphical load due to low gpu temps). Then about an hour later, I load up another game (DCS), get playing for 15 mins. Same thing again. So I clean installed the nvidia drivers. Did a few unigen superposition benchmarks, all OK. Then I play COD again today, and after say 40 mins, shuts off again. I download OCCT, fire up the PSU stress test. Runs an hour at max CPU and GPU loads, CPU package at 81C max, GPU at 77C max. No problems. I then fire the test up again after 5/10 mins. And then within 2 minutes it crashes again. Power button still doesnt turn it on until 5 minutes or so later. CPU and GPU temps have always been fine. I then turn it on and it boots past the ROG logo and shuts off again??? I then got it to load back to windows but seriously WTF is going on. I checked the events manager thing (think that's the name) and it shows unexpected shutdowns with no details. One thing to note is that the time stamps indicated in the logs are incorrect? It showed around 1.30am, when the crash occurred at 2.02am. This is really not helping me move back to PC after a 10 year Mac hiatus. I just want my machine to be stable, is that too much to ask?!! Hahaha. Quite long winded but hopefully someone can point me in some kind of direction. THANKS!

My build and setup is finally 100% complete! I just thought as a thank you I would make a nice post about my pc journey. This build was in conception around late December when I was 100% positive I wanted to dive into Twitch streaming and its community! For years I've been telling myself that I wanted to get into streaming...it looks fun" I said, just the thought of me playing my favorite game and building a community around it was, "a tingly feeling" that I decided I had to chase. So the plan set off for me to build a PC capable of streaming, WHILE playing my favorite games, and thanks to careful planning watching hrs of videos, and asking questions here on the forum' I've tackled just that. "Dreamer" I found this fitting as it is the path I chose to take. Will I make it 'BIG' on twitch?, I really do not know, but I know one thing is for certain after the amount of effort, time, prep, money, and love I have for this hobby I plan on giving it a very positive and hard push forward. I came into this thinking this should be simple! Then as I started researching pc parts it became very clear, I had no idea what the hell I was getting into or how much work was actually involved. Ram? CPU? GPU? what combos are compatible, how much power do I need for good quality? 4 core, 6 core, 8 core, WTF IS HYPERTHREADING? overclocking, SLI do I need that? Two pc's 1 for stream and the other for game? I was absolutely flustered with confusion. Heck I look back now at a youtube video I first watched from some random Youtuber 1000$ gaming editing pc and I just giggle at the specs. ( I did mirror and plan on buying the pc parts from the very first video I watched haha haaaaa!) Then I found a youtube channel called "Linus Tech Tips" and from that day on the first PC parts list got smaller and the idea of "Dreamer" was born. The knowledge I have acquired watching LTT was remarkable. Now the question went from how do I build a pc to, How do I build a PC capable of streaming games efficiently, while preforming well in games. I wanted to say thank you for all of your help. I watched your videos for the past two months getting smart again on hardware before building my newest system. TL;DR: Linus Tech Tips was my go to YouTube source for information before building my new system: ASRock X99 Taichi Intel Core i7 6850K w/ 64G DDR4 (HyperX Savage 64GB (4 x 16GB) 2x GTX 1080 (Asus) Samsung M.2 950 Pro (512gb) Corsair H100i v2 AIO Corsair HX1000i PSU Corsair Carbide 540 (White) My personal background is art, computer science, gaming. I wanted a system I could use for 3d modeling (blender), graphics GIMP, Krita, and gaming while being able to handle 4k. I also wanted to go hard with some hobby money I had been saving for a good while. In other words my "treat yo self" demon got me good. What I was upgrading from: Intel Core i7 3370 (no K) on a z77 Asus board sporting 16G of DDR3 and a GTX 670 + some SSDs. now I know I could have just as easily upgraded the Graphics card, shoved some more ram in and got a better z77 compatible LGA1155 chip with an OC and been happy however I always wanted to build an extreme system and it felt like now was the time. My old system was built almost 5 years ago and has more than served me well. I'm still using it, mostly as a file server and a box I remote into. I am mounting my 46" LED 1080p TV above the dual 4k monitors and will hook it up to the old system so It can play Netflix and or do other activities in parallel. Feel free to mock my hardware choices, I even bought "Founders Edition" cards soo yea my bad. Oh well, I'm going to have this computer for a long time so no worries.

So 2 months ago when I watched the blue balls sponsored iphone video, I started the process of getting my right nut checked out as I had felt some lumpiness on it recently. Today, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer and if it wasn't for this channel and being informed that even someone my age (21) can be victim of testicular cancer, I don't know how long I would have put off the lump. So i normally ghost forums and don't take the time to write much, but this is such a good community it deserved a post. So i haven't messed around with building computers since ATX was a new thing (feeling old) but work, kids and life in general just got in the way. I've gone the easy route and just bought a pre-build one from a decent local computer place. Last fall i realized my monitor was over 10 years old, and thought holy .... this is somewhere i could really get some quality of life improvement. My wife agreed and got me a beautiful curved MSI monitor and that's where the trouble started Getting a ultra wide screen obviously meant my old rig was struggling to keep up (load times were all ready abysmal, TW Warhammer II) so i thought i'd spoil myself with a semi-new processor to help its all along and just put it in my old rig and call it a cheap update, boy was i wrong haha. Started googling a bit around and (this is where LTT got my attention) and found out AMD was kinda rocking now, who would have thought. Landed on a 3700x as it seemed like a cheap easy upgrade, however also learned i should get DDR 4 ram to go with it and that none of it would fit in my old motherboard, Challenge accepted! Got a Tuf x570, 2 sticks of cosair ram and the Rysen 3700x with a stock cooler (hey they give you a free cooler now wtf) This would have been the end of it if not for that bloody cooler, installing it i realized it had bloody lights on it (yeah yeah RGB, i've been out of the loop for a long time) i thought that would be cool to see. Around the same time my new monitor went on black Friday sale, i complained about it and got a gift certificate for the difference. Used that to to buy a Cosair Spec 06 RGB, and a 3 Corsair LL 120mm fan with a lighting node, yes i know i got bitten by the RGB bug. Transferred everything to the new case and thought i was done, but nooo iQUE dosen't play nice with the Ryzen stock cooler + that thing is bloody loude, so got a Cosair hydro 100i platinum to replace it and had to rewire the front of the spec case to play with iQUE. After that it seemed silly to not just finish the build so i threw in a modular power supply, a MSI RTX 2070 super, and a few more RGB strips. So that the build: Case: Spec 06 RGB Motherboard: Tuf x570 CPU: Ryzen 3700x Ram: 2x 8gb Corsair 3200 vengence GPU: MSI RTX2070 Super Hardrive: System is on a NVME, with a few SSD's for games and a HHD for storage. The end goal for the Rig is the same as the previous one: To play Star Citizen if it ever comes out as a full game! Now i started this journey out as a cheap upgrade, but it escalated so i learned a few things along the way. 1 - I'm stuck wishing i had gotten a 3800x CPU as this one seems limited on power draw when i try to overclock it (any suggestions or just leave it, because the boost is so good anyway?) 2 - The Tuf motherboard is good, but definitely not high end. I spend the first few weeks with the board not booting after a restart until i got a new bios update. 3 - RGB is awesome, but dont get dragged to far in. 4 - The MSI 2070 super its really loud when under load and radiates silly amounts of heat sidesways, to the point where the case glass is silly hot. I considered vertically mounting it, but I'm afraid to just choke it instead. Any thoughts? 5 - i only have 2 intake fans, do i need another one to help with point 4, or do i just need to bite the bullet and have an ugly case with the front panel off? (my wife will murder me if a spend more on another case now haha. On behalf of my friend and I, we say hello to the LinusTechTips community! We have started a new channel for fun of us playing games in a 'Let's Play' fashion. We are looking to spread out this variety to many things such as technology related news, gaming news and discussions along with a simplistic critique of some games..but to help start this endeavor, that where we need a little help from you guys. We are in video production at the moment so no videos have been released yet but we look for help to give a little flair to our channel. We wish for someone to be willing to create their own rendition of us with a theme of video games and send it to us for our channel's cover-art, which the dimensions are 2560x1440. *Make sure your name and date are on it so credit can be given where it is due.* TL;DR We are starting a new YouTube channel of gaming and need a helpful hand creating a cover art of us that is video game themed. I just put my gpu fan on 100% and WOW was it loud haha. My question is will it ever get to that while playing games or anything and what would be needed to push them to go that high through like apps and stuff. Thankyou:)

I forgot my old email and password so I had to make a new account! No biggy though! I'm building a new PC January but I have a teeny-tiny problem! I can't decide on a monitor, well not monitor but resolution. I'm going to be ordering the EVGA SC/ACX edition of the 780 Ti! Do you think that will be enough to power "next-gen" on a 2560x1440 monitor or should I stick with 1080, and is the extra 100 dollars or so worth it? Thanks guys, I appreciate any and all feedback!
