I'm on Fedora 38 and was trying to play TF2, unfortunately there seem to only be some sounds playing (no music, voicelines). I looked online and there seems to be a fix. However, it includes editing permissions which I am not familiar with at all. the commands I found are: Could anyone explain what these commands do and if they're safe to run? My understanding is they have something to do with "SELinux" and "SELinux" has something to do with security.

At the moment, I am deploying numerous apps through Intune to MacOS as LoB apps. So far, I've been able to properly set the CFBundleIdentifiers for each one. However, while trying to get this softphone client called RingCentral deployed I'm noticing error 0x87D13BA7. This error shows up when the set Bundle Identifier is "wrong", even though I've cross referenced it with the .plist file that the installer came with, and it should be correct. Only one app bundle identifier is currently being put under "Included apps" through intune: com.ringcentral.glip 23.2.21.7380 The version does not matter because it self updates, so I flagged it so intune would say any version counts as an installed version, however, all of the installations are reporting back as failures. Interestingly enough, the app does download and install properly to mac systems, it just has no way of communicating back to intune that it IS installed likely due to a missing app package or something. Attatched is the config I've set for the app on the MacOS deployment. If anyone has deployed RingCentral for MACOS before through intune or jamf or something similar and knows what packages need to be included in the intune app configuration, that would be awesome. Another thing, I used to have a website bookmarked that had a macos terminal command that would create a text file of each installed CFBundleIdentifier and I'd use that to troubleshoot apps that weren't reporting back to intune properly, but i've lost that webpage and I would really like to find it but it's no worries if its just not possible.

All the tutorials shows how to kill the process, but I just want to close NordVPN window so it goes to system tray (basically pressing the X button). I don't want to use taskkill /f /im NordVPN.exe command that kills the nord service. Is there any way to do it? Im using this code: @echo off start "" "C:\Program Files\NordVPN\NordVPN.exe" -c -g "Singapore" exit

Please see here for the printout of my terminal: https://pastebin.com/LQa8fE4x So basically, it seems like my libgranite6 is having some kind of dependency issue. I do not know how to fix this, I assume I'll have to fully remove libgranite (whatever that is) and reinstall it. Can someone explain how to do this? I am relatively new to Linux but I am getting my feet wet with the terminal, I would prefer to install and update things exclusively through the terminal but I have a feeling that this is somehow conflicting with updates done through Elementary's app store and that's what caused libgranite to get all messed up. My own research on this problem seems to indicate a lot of people are having this error with Elementary but I'm not trying to distro hop over this, I already have Steam and Visual Studio Code installed and pretty much have my DE set up just how I like it. Any help would be much appreciated.

I need some help identifying this connector. It's work related so not for my personal computer or anything. The connector goes on the end of an infrared eye receiver. That receives signal from a wireless remote in order to change various settings on a windows based media device. IThat device has a separate decoder board from the motherboard. That board has flat connectors/pins that this connector fits onto. It's not the type of plug I would normally expect to be seen for this application and to be honest its a poor connector. It regularly falls off and gets damaged which is why we need more of them. I don't know if they are a proprietary connector or if they are just uncommon but I've looked everywhere. Without the specific knowledge it has proven difficult to find and so far I have been unable to identify it. I've included a couple of pictures of the connector and one very badly cropped image of the space it plugs into. Don't have a better photo at the moment unfortunately. Thanks for the help in advance. Tom

It's been a while, about 9 months, since my 2tb external HDD got corrupted when it accidentally unplugged thanks to it's wobbly cable. It has always been like that since I bought it in 2014 and never had a problem with it before, also the drive came formated to NFTS as intented to be used as my Time Machine. During this time, the unit has always been detected by the Mac and other PCs, the HDD doesn't do any weird noises and acts just as normal. In this time I've tried some methods that can just be summed up in just 3: Using Disk Utility's Main options: First aid, partition, erase and restore being futile but just dropping the diagnosis of the error in question com.apple.diskmanagement.disenter error 0 . Accessing the root user and editing in terminal the path being shown in this tutorial. While being a well elaborated tut, it didn't solve my problem. Using photorec and testdisk. Of course, first installing the Unix libraries that Mac OS lacks, to have the programs work properly. Again, my external unit was detected but I wasn't able to do anything at all after that. Of course, i've tried forcing mount and unmount with all privileges but this issue i am having can't be solve that way. I've seen in some Apple dedicated forums, including the official one that this has been a problem since the Catalina update, which is the one I'm using and in which the com.apple.diskmanagement.disenter error 0 happened to me. I had luck in this forum with my previous problem and i hope this awesome community knows a way out of this error that is entirely Apple's responsibility. Happy Holidays!

When I use the TOP command I am overwhelmed with the vast response. What are things I can lookout for when trying to make sense of it all? In windows taskmanager things are simple and familiar but I don't know what I should be looking out for in TOP results in terms of security and unusual behaviour...

I'm new to coding and just installed node for vite. I don't know if I did it correctly or anything but still learning. Right now I'm having a problem where if I delete a project in my projects folder, the deleted files start showing in my source control for projects where vite is installed. I already have a Stackoverflow post about this and I really just need help getting this fixed. I would appreciate it if anyone can check out that post to get the full details, just need more eyes on it. If you have solutions be free to reply here or on Stackoverflow. Here's the link to the original post: https://stackoverflow.com/q/74077564/20247009

Hi, Using Manjaro KDE 5.24.5 After a recent system update I go this issue https://github.com/flathub/com.github.wwmm.pulseeffects/issues/64 As you can tell from the answer I received the modules that are causing the issue have nothing to do with pulse so I tried removing the modules but cannot as 1 is used with timeshift (xapp) and the other is used with gnome-disk-utility (canberra) programs. I do not wish to delete these programs. How can I stop pulse from trying to use these modules so this error goes away? Also on the same post I received advice on how to make it run in the back ground, but Im not to sure where to place this command? If I try and edit the application > command .. by adding "--gapplication-service" to the end, I get a error "Could not save properties due to insufficient write access to: ‘/home/rob/.local/share/applications/com.github.wwmm.pulseeffects.desktop’." Im a little stuck .. Any ideas?

I have an index.js file that I want to load in the Node REPL to try some stuff, but when I use .load index.js in the REPL, it goes in an infinite loop and keeps repeating the first line in the file. const mongoose = require('mongoose'); I found an alternative solution which works in Ubuntu 20.04.5 in WSL2, which is to use the command node -i -e "$(< index.js)" in the terminal which loads the file perfectly fine and I can interact with its contents. But when I try the same command in PowerShell it gives me this error: < : The term '<' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again. At line:1 char:15 + node -i -e "$(< index.js)" + ~ + CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (<:String) [], CommandNotFoundException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException C:\Program Files\nodejs\node.exe: -e requires an argument The reason I'm asking about PowerShell "even though I use Ubuntu and things work there", is that I'm taking a web development course, and I provided the solution of using node -i -e "$(< index.js)" to people who were having the same issue, but other people can't get this to work in PowerShell, so I'm just trying to help. and I couldn't find any solution online to this .load issue, or to using an alternative to the node -i -e "$(< index.js)" command in PowerShell. index.js contents: const mongoose = require('mongoose'); mongoose.set('strictQuery', false); mongoose.connect('mongodb://localhost:27017/movieApp', { useNewUrlParser: true, useUnifiedTopology: true }) .then(() => { console.log("CONNECTION OPEN!!!") }) .catch(err => { console.log("OH NO ERROR!!!!") console.log(err) }) const movieSchema = new mongoose.Schema({ title: String, year: Number, score: Number, rating: String }); const Movie = mongoose.model('Movie', movieSchema); const amadeus = new Movie({ title: 'Amadeus', year: 1986, score: 9.2, rating: 'R' });

Hello, I am having trouble reading man pages for certain commands, it seems intimidating for newer users. I was wondering if you have any tips or tricks on how to read man pages effectively. I'm a new user on Arch Linux. I already know how to search man pages using (man -k), but I was wondering how do you read and understand the commands effectively. (ex: chmod or fdisk) Thank you.

For the past few days I have been struggling getting a remote desktop viewer application installed that is in the Arch repo rather than the AUR of arch. I'm trying to make it as secured as possible. The server will not be on the internet via port forwarding, it will be in my LAN only. However, I would like a remote desktop viewer to view the server throughout my house. Preferably I'm looking for a solution that also has a Android app so I can view the remote server in my house via my phone. Thank you.

Hello, I'm trying to use Man pages to learn about different Linux commands but it seems very verbose and intimidating for new users. Like if you search up the cmd chmod in man pages, it will give you an intimidating response for newer users, at least in my prospective and opinion on it. I'm also using the BASH shell. I think I need to be more comfortable using man pages, which is why I think I need to just master the man page entirely. Do you all have any tips for me to improve my man page reading skill? Things I know: Man -k (Search for commands and command descriptions) Man Man (man the manual page) / to search in man page Synopsis : example of command

Hello LTTForum, I recently decided to start my Linux journey, I've always wanted to try Linux but never knew how to, just recently I have decided to take a passion into learning the operating system as that you can do a lot with it. Do you recommend any videos reguarding the subject? What are some ways to effectively learn Linux, as well as if you had any tips or tricks I should need to know. Currently, i'm stuck on the following if you can also answer these it would make my day too: * What's a Library in Linux? Explain in simple terms please. * For the man command, is there a command that allows you to view the contents of a particular section, Let's say I want to learn about adding a user account, can I navigate to a particular section or search a description in using Man or info command? * What's a file manager, repo, desktop manager, display manager. Thank you!

If i run some big programs in multiple linux terminal can they take advantages of multiple cpu cores? Or all the programs run in one cpu core?

int main(int argc, char **argv) { FILE *f = fopen("/dev/tty", "r+"); SCREEN *screen = newterm(NULL, f, f); set_term(screen); curs_set(0); // some program logic and output here getch(); endwin(); delscreen(screen); return EXIT_SUCCESS; } After exiting, the Terminal settings are not properly restored and I can't figure out how to solve this. The common issue, according to the internet, seems to be not calling endwin() as last action, but this doesn't work for me. I also tried without calling delscreen. And I tried applying the same to the previous screen (return value of set_term). Btw, the reason why I use newterm instead of initscr is because I need clean stdin/stdout for data processing.

I am looking for a quad block terminal for EK blocks. Something like this, however EK only has an all black version, is there a non csq plexi bridge that can fix EK blocks? Or would this Bitspower block be compatible? Thanks!

I am building a 3 way Titan XP build on a Rampage V Edition 10. I was going to use Bitspower blocks, but they are out of stock everywhere so it's either EK or Swiftech. I like Swiftech better because it looks better and has RGB leds. However I am leaning EK because I need to have a terminal connecting the cards. Is there any tripple terminal compatible with this block? http://www.performance-pcs.com/swiftech-komodo-nv-le-gtx-titan-x-pascal-vga-waterblock.html Thanks!

Hello. I am having issues with a custom built Linux PC. At first the computer was running the newest version of Linux Mint. The problems began with green lines on the screen. The computer was rebooted and showed the following error message: BusyBox v1.18.5 (Ubuntu 1:1.18.5-1ubuntu4) built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. (initramfs) There seemed to be no way past this terminal screen and some research showed that there could be a partition of the operating system that was corrupted. The operating system was wiped and the newest version of Zorin OS was successfully put onto the system. However, when the machine was attempted to be rebooted, the prompt attached is shown. At this point, I believe it is a hardware issue, but I don't know where to start. There had been issues in the past with the computer not turning itself off when it was shutdown through the operating system. I was told that it was a RAM issue but since it's not my PC, I haven't been able to test. I don't know if this issue is connected. Any help would be appreciated.
