  1. Watch out SIRI, Samsung is to introduce a new voice assistant to its new line up of smart phones nick named "Bixby" , This new implementation of A.I assisted voice control is set to compete against its rival company's rather the digital assistant will debut with the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in late March. Unlike SIRI voice assistance that works on through the home button , Bixby is set to have a small dedicated button for it to be activated just below the volume controls on the side of the phone , The goal of Bixby is to voice-enable every single action in an app that you'd normally do via touch, the general hassle of going through contacts or opening a certain message etc , the general notion of going into homescree, opening applications folder & there might be subfolder within folders that you need to go through to get into the app that you want, all of this will be eased out with a simple voice command using bixby basically making it effortless Bixby designer > Injong Rhee The system in general aims to do a polished version of SIRI in a way , but in a bit more complicated way , Samsung already had a simple voice command system known as S-Voice with limited ability to interact with the user , The new AI assistant is set to talk back & interact flawlessly with the user, Bixby's main progressive feature : Completeness When an application becomes Bixby-enabled, Bixby will be able to support almost every task that the application is capable of performing using the conventional interface (ie. touch commands). Most existing agents currently support only a few selected tasks for an application and therefore confuse users about what works or what doesn’t work by voice command. The completeness property of Bixby will simplify user education on the capability of the agent, making the behaviors of the agent much more predictable Context Awareness When using a Bixby-enabled application, users will be able to call upon Bixby at any time and it will understand the current context and state of the application and will allow users to carry out the current work-in-progress continuously. Bixby will allow users to weave various modes of interactions including touch or voice at any context of the application, whichever they feel is most comfortable and intuitive. Most existing agents completely dictate the interaction modality and, when switching among the modes, may either start the entire task over again, losing all the work in progress, or simply not understand the user’s intention. Cognitive Tolerance When the number of supported voice commands gets larger, most users are cognitively challenged to remember the exact form of the voice commands. Most agents require users to state the exact commands in a set of fixed forms. Bixby will be smart enough to understand commands with incomplete information and execute the commanded task to the best of its knowledge, and then will prompt users to provide more information and take the execution of the task in piecemeal. This makes the interface much more natural and easier to use. This is actually a significant move from the company that is pushing it towards a right direction imo, soon this will be implemented on Samsung future products according to their official blog post, a simple voice command is all you need What do you think ? Post your comments down beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo News Source(s): https://news.samsung.com/us/injong-rhee-bixby-a-new-way-to-interact-with-your-phone/ https://www.engadget.com/2017/03/20/samsung-unveils-bixby-its-siri-competitor/ http://www.nashvillechatterclass.com/samsung-galaxy-s8-bixby-ai-assistant-will-recognize-images-too-heres-how/25333/ http://mashable.com/2017/03/20/samsung-bixby/#8YPvd0UC_iq7
  2. Doing a mini research & noticed this interesting thing, on a Full HD monitor, almost all games for most of the video reviews so far i've seen showed the 1070 running well above 60fps on high to max settings on current AAA games for the most parts , well above the monitors limited refresh rates, meanwhile the 1060 hovered only a bit over the 60fps limit , but dipping near 40-45 at it lowest on the same settings but very briefly , now for a budget conscious person , those extra fps is literally wasted if he buys a 1070, right? , but it does give headroom, but still , without changing up the monitor to meet the needs do you think which would be the most appropriate buy , please state your reasons & your opinion & why on your comment down below
  3. #FirstWorldProblemYo System which is a part of IOT made a bit frenzy during the Advertisement spot segment for some folks, which google had on their product "Google Home" , The system responded to the trigger voice command from the television "OK Google" & tried to respond to the following command following the ad transmission, Google Home is a voice activated speaker powered by the Google Assistant which always listens , which made this a mini chaos to those users who had it in a hearing range to the television the spot featured over and over again, people uttering its popular wake word, “OK Google” made the device wake & respond abruptly, The home system is dormant until a user calls out . Then they perform any number of functions from playing a musical selection to turning on or off the lights. Some users reporting that the system didn't recognize the command & responded " sorry, I don’t understand " #OkayDad, More Money Google hasn't yet commented on this mild hiccup , but no harm done. 4. How much is too much? What's the price range that you feel is too much for a single component where you say "this is too much" & would refrain from buying that particular product , Please reply in general like 300-400 range or a per component basis , So What's your price limit? Example 1 : "I would never pay over 300 for a single component ever " Example 2 : "I would never pay over $180 for a PC case" Example 3: " i would never pay over $800 for a laptop " Example 4: "i would never pay over $350 for a graphics card any day"
  5. Whats the proper alternative for a PSU with no single 8 pin plug for a GPU power? (150-180~ish watts tdp) is it a 6+2 pin combo 6 pin to 8 pin adapter a molex to 8 pin adapter Others which one is safer or are they all safe? post your recommendations , Thanks
  6. take notes, BatteryA Battery B Samsung is bringing new level of battery safety checks to ensure that future samsung products, yes all Samsung products which use a lithium ion battery wont succumb to the fate the Galaxy Note 7 faced Samsung’s new safety checks includes: Durability testing Visual inspection X-rays checks Charge and discharge tests Tests of total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) Disassembling tests Accelerated usage tests Open circuit voltage tests Samsung investigated the issue & released a report recently which involved 700 dedicated staff testing 200,000 phones and 30,000 additional batteries, the problem was also investigated by the three outside firms it brought in After months of investigating, Samsung is pinning all the blame on two separate battery flaws Basically , bad batteries & rushed manufacturing process cause the quality to doom while pumping out , hopefully they've learned their lesson & they're pushing out the 2017 version of flagship galaxy phones in a few months, good luck with that Samsung! Samsung promised to continue both its Galaxy and Galaxy Note product families and said it will continue to innovate even as it ensures a higher priority for product safety. post your comments down below, do you think the whole note 7 shennanigan could've been avoided if they weren't hungry for profits? comment down below Sources : http://www.theverge.com/2017/1/22/14353458/samsung-eight-step-battery-test-exploding-smartphones http://www.recode.net/2017/1/22/14330404/samsung-note-7-problems-battery-investigation-explanation

  8. Oh shit ! is that a drone? The government of Ecuador confirmed on Tuesday that it had decided “to temporarily restrict access” to the internet inside its embassy in London, effectively cutting off Julian Assange the editor of Wikileaks, who has lived there since he was granted political asylum in 2012. The action was carried out by state level intervention intentionally to disrupt communications The internet restriction was applied over fears that he was using it to interfere in the US presidential election. Assange later responded through his twitter that they have activated the appropriate contingency plans << Painfully accurate image its a two sided game , there's pretty much more than equal amounts of shit being thrown at each candidates to make the other look less dirty, mind the fact it's a politician vs non-politician thing , but like someone said actual crime doesnt matter , you know the game , basic see-saw distraction , one of e goes down the other one goes up. The statement also reaffirmed the asylum granted to Assange and reiterated its intention “to safeguard his life and physical integrity until he reaches a safe place”. Meaning their primary priority is to well being , maybe they made a temporary restriction to address an essential ongoing trade it's not the photograph with the hand in the cookie jar that matters, it's the one who took the picture , that's the real crookie criminal Wikileaks most recently leaks include emails hacked from the Gmail account of the Clinton campaign chairman, John Podesta, which included partial transcripts of paid speeches Clinton gave to Wall Street bankers after her tenure as secretary of state. At the end of the day it's basic politics , doesn't matter if it's truth or lie, people believe in what they want to believe promises , they will adhere to whoever provides most reasonable answers to their current problems , people use this whole shibangabang to throw in whatever they have to win , whether is Trump supporter or Clinton supporter , we're seeing how aggressive things are turning into, there's a difference between grounded hard evidence vs emotional jolting accusation , what to believe , depends on the persons history of influences , translates into what you see nowadays Russian president responded vaguely to the rumor that Russian influence in the hacking attempt (English subtitled) Mini Transcript : President Vladmir Putin : " In ANY event , we will work with any US leader , whoever that leader is, What are we witnessing? Some hacker published information about the unseemly conduct of Mrs.Clinton's campaign headquarters , supporting one candidate for the party nomination at the expense of the other , Hysterical accusations that this is in Russia's interests , They freak out about it to distract the attention of the American people from the importance of what was published by the hackers , The importance is that public opinion is being manipulated , but nobody talks about it ( US/international media) , Everyone is talking about who did it? , But is it so important who did it? , What is important is the content of this information " isnt it kinda weird mainstream/general media is criticizing wikileaks journalism , the stuff actual media journalism is supposed to do? but that's a thought for you to think through Even a bigger issue is that wiki leaks have had a copy of their encrypted but uncensored database in all it's fury out available for public with a deadmans switch , which in case of his somewhat mysterious death or restriction to access of Julian assange , a decryption key would be released & be made available publicly from multiple sources (this guys probably still alive because of this) , it was reported the switch wasn't pulled due to the delay in access from him online, for the time being & the sensitive data is still encrypted Recently the Russian international journalistic channel RT was restricted from withdrawing funds from British bank accounts, But the British bank has denied reports it closed the UK accounts of RT , assuming it was an indirect pressured response from the political influence connecting tho this, Most probably a response to Email hacking accusations Sources: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/ecuador-cuts-off-internet-access-for-wikileaks-founder-assange/2016/10/18/277281f6-95ac-11e6-9b7c-57290af48a49_story.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/19/ecuador-admits-cutting-julian-assanges-internet-access-over-impa/ https://theintercept.com/2016/10/18/ecuador-cuts-internet-access-julian-assange-preserve-neutrality-us-election/ https://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/oct/19/wikileaks-ecuador-julian-assange-internet-access http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-37680411 http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/10/wikileaks-ecuador-admits-cutting-assange-internet-161019055948619.html http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/19/world/europe/julian-assange-embassy.html?_r=0 http://gizmodo.com/ecuador-confirms-it-has-cut-off-julian-assanges-interne-1787949101 http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-cyber-wikileaks-idUSKBN12H2E9

General Software reviewers gave the Kaspersky AV solution 4 - 5 star ratings in majority of their reviews A reminder this is a basic version of the software , meaning you'll get the same time signature updates , Quarantine , Browsing protection , Email scan & the self protection feature to keep the software itself safe from attacks , Hey, it's better than Windows defender . For a lot more premium feature you do need to pay , like parental control, Secure Pay, Virtual KB/Anti-Keylogger , VPN, Customer support , The software release is set to be done periodically , so depending on the region You might have to wait to get your hands on the free version of the software , The first wave of free version release covers US, Russia,Canada,Sweden,China & a few other countries & rest of them will be released slowly . Countries like India, Hong Kong, Middle East, Africa, Turkey and Latin America will have to wait till September to get their hands on the software , Kaspersky?? Isn't that the Russian company? Kaspersky recently made a slight headlines as US Congress made a move to blanket ban the Kaspersky products from the PC used by government systems because of feared Manufacturer is based on Russia & might be succumbed to eaves drop from Russian political official influence. The company responded by saying it will provide it's source code directly to the concerned officials to clear up any kind of mistrust issues , Recently few of the US engineers who were working for the company was questioned by the FBI on this topic . But long story short , nothing came up . " As a private company, Kaspersky Lab has no ties to any government, and the company has never helped, nor will help, any government in the world with its cyberespionage efforts - KS Labs representative " I think it's a pretty decent move from the company , Lots of free AV solutions out there that offer free solutions , but with this amount of reliable detection & protection offered as free is a pretty good deal , hope they don't do forced registration to run a free version. 16. The name itself is a terror! Researchers at security firm Compay called "CheckPoint Software Technologies" have uncovered a new malware that has allegedly affected over a million andoid devices upto this day, The attack campaign, named Gooligan, breached the security of over one million Google accounts. The number continues to rise at an additional 13,000 breached devices each day. Gooligan strain has infected nearly 1.3 million Android phone since August. The threat seems to be in a subtle nature, but still pretty harsh, taken they haven't breached into personal private files & used it as ransom , it seems a more pure ad revenue oriented attack like a p.u.p or p.h.a , the primary focus of the malware seems to be a massive advertising campaign The module allows Gooligan to: Steal a user’s Google email account and authentication token information Install apps from Google Play and rate them to raise their reputation Install adware to generate revenue Once installed, the infected apps root the devices to gain system access of devices. The rooted devices then download and install a software that steals authentication tokens. These tokens allow the attackers to access the user’s Google-related account without having to enter a password. The tokens work with a number of Google services, including Docs, Gmail, Drive, and Photos. How does Gooligan work? The infection begins when a user downloads and installs a Gooligan-infected app on a vulnerable Android device. Our research team has found infected apps on third-party app stores, but they could also be downloaded by Android users directly by tapping malicious links in phishing attack messages. After an infected app is installed, it sends data about the device to the campaign’s Command and Control (C&C) server. Gooligan then downloads a rootkit from the C&C server that takes advantage of multiple Android 4 and 5 exploits including the well-known VROOT (CVE-2013-6282) and Towelroot (CVE-2014-3153). These exploits still plague many devices today because security patches that fix them may not be available for some versions of Android, or the patches were never installed by the user. If rooting is successful, the attacker has full control of the device and can execute privileged commands remotely. After achieving root access, Gooligan downloads a new, malicious module from the C&C server and installs it on the infected device. This module injects code into running Google Play or GMS (Google Mobile Services) to mimic user behavior so Gooligan can avoid detection Below shown are the 2 examples of reviews left by users who were also found on the attacker’s records as victims User ! If your account has been breached, the following steps are required: A clean installation of an operating system on your mobile device is required (a process called “flashing”). As this is a complex process, we recommend powering off your device and approaching a certified technician, or your mobile service provider, to request that your device be “re-flashed.” Change your Google account passwords immediately after this process. Android security engineer Adrian Ludwig said the team was working closely with Check Point to investigate the Android malware family and to protect users. Ludwig claimed there was no evidence data was accessed from the compromised accounts, adding that users would receive a warning when such a malware strain was detected on their devices. 17. Pew Pew Pew Some of you might have seen this already, Anyways, A company called DroneShield Based in Sydney and Virginia have made a badass loking anti-drone 'weapon' or tool that can take down a drone from a very moderate distance/range that can reduce damage & neutralize target before it comes in close range to be a serious threat Fun fact : Sh**s Illegal at this moment as it hasnt been approved by Government officials for field usage by civilians , It's not FCC-certified , making it illegally to operate one in the US (Ooooh Miss Jackson) Unless it's specified from the US Government for its official use(it means Yup they have stocks of this) Soon hollywood officials will be operating these So far we'ce seen systems like a larger drone with a net that catches the mini drone, Even a falcon that's been trained to catch them, this has been like a really good ergonomic & futuristic looking solution i've see so far With Drone shield Devastating grave threats like these can be terminated with ease This kinda reminded me of this scene from The Dark Knight Rises The system is made for portability & can be carried & deployed & handled by a single user, power source can be placed inside a backpack , Like other anti drone tech , it works as a signal jammer that disables drone signals (including GPS and GLONASS positioning) from as far as upto 1.2 miles away. The system weighs around 13 pounds , so it's not light by any means , it either disables or activates go home function where it returns to the drown owner & potentially identifying the culprit , the jammer doesn't suddenly disable the drone & make it crash but lets it glide down to land safely so it can be inspected later by forensics The system in combination with this drone detector in a field is very efficient & effective tool Heres the Cheezy Ad Demo Video The system can come in handy for law enforcement & soldiers in the field that deal with things like drugs smuggling & eavesdropping & potential threat package from afar without it being a risk , Very useful near airports, private events, hostile places & borders Post Your thoughts & critisims in the comments down below Sources: https://www.droneshield.com/dronegun https://www.engadget.com/2016/11/28/droneshield-anti-drone-gun/

  19. Nick named the 'Mechanical Pixels’ , unlike regular LED pixels which takes in electricity & it it self emit varying range of color , with the help of LED backlighting, this display surface does it without needing a electrical source to start working, it works under a whole new principle , principle of takes advantage of Graphene bubbles(doing the job of representing pixels)under certain conditions alter their balloon-like structures which acts like pixels to emit visible color range , it currently it works only on reflected light (light source isis indirectly ) Lemme list some cons i saw the color changes have only been observed under a microscope resulting pixels are too small (10nm), that hundreds of thousands would be needed to create even a tiny image expensive to manufacture graphene samples at a greater size you cannot get clean colors like pure red or pure blue yet Method to control pressure inorder to achieve the image is still under works Light source dependent , cannot be viewed on a dark environment Now the Pros New display technology pixel size is really small , meaning seriously fine details can be brought up with high clarity Power consumption reduction New ergonomic designs for adaptive display tech , maybe restrictive but consistent image display non reliable on electricity & artificial backlighting , far smoother image transmission as in real life like if used with temperature/pressure instead of electricity (possible death of refresh rates if properly implied??) Research was done in collaborative effort from researchers at TU Delft, Netherlands, and Graphenea, Spain, as part of the Graphene Flagship have found a new way to create mechanical pixels using tiny balloon-like structures which do not emit light themselves but are visible in sunlight, could lead to energy-efficient colour displays that can be used in devices such as e-books and smart watches hopefully in e-papers . Video (virtual demo) The production of color can be influenced by pressure , By applying a pressure difference across the graphene membranes, the perceived/produced color of the graphene can be shifted continuously manipulated. This effect can be exploited in order to create different colored pixels imagine picture frame not requiring any/very few power to be visible (cort: some HarryPotter gif i thought would be relative) How it works, The above shown image(to your left) are cavities that are of the size of 1/1000th diameter of a human hair(these are spread over a mirror like surface like a pixel arrangement parallel & organized), these are covered with 2 layers of graphene (suspended membrane) & due to pressure difference the top one is exhibiting visible color change just due to pressure difference alone, this can be amplified & changed & dampened according to your liking , mind you these color changed after a while under the same pressure, this was later identified caused due to pressure difference inside & outside those cavity being shifted due to regular conditions & Light interference assisted the color change constructively & destructively (resulting in varying range of color) Each of these pixels (mechanical pixels) could be moved (shifting image boundary) by using pressure or temperature , The researchers hope to have a screen prototype for the Mobile World Conference 2017 in Barcelona. This seems promising for me, if they actually make this thing work in a real world environment Sources: http://www.tudelft.nl/en/current/latest-news/article/detail/delftse-onderzoekers-creeren-bij-toeval-nieuwe-energie-efficiente-mechanische-pixels/ http://www.theverge.com/2016/11/24/13740946/dutch-scientists-use-color-changing-graphene-bubbles-to-create-mechanical-pixels
  20. You will listen to this free U2 Album It is reported that during the software keynote at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, California next Monday, the tech giant is set to replace iTunes with different standalone version of music, television and podcast apps. replacing the almost 2 Decade old unifying app into 3 separate counterparts. Itunes was originally introduced in Jan. 9, 2001 . last update it received was at may 28 2019 just a few days back & that'll be the end of it, It's not planning to update the app according to the rumored news from Bloomberg. But no-one knows quite yet when it’ll put the service to bed permanently, presumably it’ll offer weeks or months for users to get their files in order before pulling the plug. The updated Music app will replace all music storage and organization functionality currently handled by iTunes. If you need to manage your iThings (local backups, OS updates, etc.), the Music app will take over there just as iTunes always has. users can expect the Music app to host many of iTunes’ audio features from now on. Apple already has dedicated apps for TV & Podcast being polished up for the event, with the introduction of the sleeker music app it will calling of the itunes app. Users can expect the new Music app to offer some of the same functionalities that iTunes currently does such as purchasing songs and syncing phones Music on mac OS retains the ability to sync a user’s devices such as iPhones and iPods. Devices show up in the sidebar just like they do on iTunes. The search bar has been moved to the sidebar, which integrates both Apple Music categories as well as the user’s local Music library, inherited from iTunes. This is the New Music App UI screenshot according to 9 to 5mac leaks Personally last time i used Itunes was way back when i got an ipod 3rd gen shuffle, the interface was pretty choppy back then i had no idea how to use it even after watching tutorials & kinda went with the flow & somehow added songs literally by luck. a stupid Chinese USB music player at that time had seriously better ease of use simple drag and drop interface which a few of my friends had. Maybe it would've changed later i could've gotten used to it but i dunno. And it looks like i'm not gonna.i used it rarely when i had the chance & whenever i was interacting with it i was confused creating playlist & having it organize files in my way. Anyways, So what do you guys think about this? Post your comments, rant, reaction down below. 21. 1 million Elon Musk san tweeted out the news that Tesla has Produced it's milestone 1,000,000'th electric car, 1 millionth car is a Model Y SUV Tesla's first electric car was an electric sports car called Roadster released back in 2008 & it sold around 2500 nos at that time. Tesla introduced a uniquely designed Truck last year which broke the pre-order record in 3 days after it's announcement with 200,000 confirmed orders. The electric car popularity is a good thing for the environment, the more users switching to this form of transportation will evidently reduce the harmful gas emission, although it might take time to reverse the effect a little bit at a time is good. even though there's a bit controversy surrounding the making & maintenance being criticized by some.Eitherways the more of these is a good thing. So what do you think about this milestone achievement? 22. The German Federal Office for Radiation Protection (Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz) (try pronouncing that in your first try) have a comprehensive database on most of all mainstream smartphone on radiation emission data that are popularly available in the market , according to their research the data suggests that the popular Xiaomi & One plus & several others were found to have a high level of radiation emission from their products, Although to be clear there isn't an international set standard for a widely accepted an absolute "safe level", it is generally considered around 1.6 W/Kg of body weight for the majority as a unofficial safe standard, the companies usually huddle up around this value as a standard to pass certifications that clears them for sales. According to the sites data chart , the budget friendly flagship set of phones were caught up in their higher emission category, which was a surprising thing. Just to note , all smartphones have to pass certification , so it must come under a certain generic value of less than 1.6 W/Kg , to compare Apple usually have a SAR value of around 1.4W/kg under their headset emission standard for most of their product in general which is safe, reason i say this is because this is high but don't get misguided by the news title as dangerously high, like the old alcatel/Motorola days. it isn't that high, it is high, but under a "safe value" high in a way. if that makes sense . but still , look at the chart below & see the top 2 set having passed beyond that safe mark. The Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is a number that measures the rate at which energy is absorbed by the human body when exposed to radio waves. In mobile industry the specific absorption rate to measure the energy absorbed by a particular mass of human tissue(usually near head), within a certain amount of time. We measure SAR in units of power per mass (W/kg). An important note is that , SAR value differs region to region & accordance with the states/nations official set rule per country basis & manufacturers tune it accordingly to skip & ease out of it just to sell the product & have the product perform efficiently depending on region & signal availability, it's basically pretty volatile in terms of having a standard, since there is no strict universal set standard. this mean something & nothing at the same time, a single SAR value does not provide sufficient information about the amount of RF exposure under typical usage conditions to reliably compare individual cell phone models. Rather, the SAR values collected by the FCC are intended only to ensure that the cell phone does not exceed the FCC’s maximum permissible exposure levels even when operating in conditions which result in the device’s highest possible, i depends & varies according to situation. phones condition, signal range & strength , near tower emissions energy etc, a lot of things come to play to gauge it accurately . (demo video on how the SAR value is observed in the industry) ^^^ Radiation absorption across certain age group according to an old research , the difference is due to tissue condensation difference. (ignore the killer tag, it was the only stock pic i could find showing how radiation surrounds us) So the question , where's Samsung? did they deliberately omit them from the above list? Turns out they surprisingly had some of the lowest radiation emitting handsets available in the market right now , consider that , after exploding phones & what not , it was actually one of the safest in terms of radiation emission ,surprisingly well below the current standard kept by the industry. So what do you guys think about this? post your comments & thoughts down below, comment on whether you were surprised to see the results coming from the major retailer so high & so so low on the list, especially one plus.apple & Samsung having contrasting difference. 23. You almost did it, You crazy sons of bi*** TLDR: Wuhan,China has been the epicenter for the recent Virus outbreak COVID-19 & The region has been on lock-down since the terrifying outbreak , a good majority of people were put under forced quarantine, some videos from the region showing that government forces locking people inside & taking risky people out to be quarantined.Schools are suspended until further notice. With many workplaces also shut. in a nutshell , people were enforced under quarantine to isolate & decrease the spread of the virus which meant kids were at home, forced to work & study from home. this meant a hike in online tutoring for kids. one of the apps that has been used by schools towards assigning homework & other work related comms was developed from Alibaba group called the DingTalk, it's a telecommuting application which during Chinese new year became the most downloaded app on China’s app stores & raised in popularity. so people started using it widely for all forms of communication like other SM apps. it's an enterprise collaboration app that lets you have group audio/video/text interaction with a preset contacts. can be used for both personal & professional use. teachers were using this app to set kids time assigned homework online so they were working at home even under quarantine. it is reported that an estimate of 50 million students and 600,000 teachers use this app throughout China. the app uses clock in & clock out features, which uses time framed access from users like employees or students logging in & logging out for sessions at given hours, being counted as work. if allowed it uses facial recognition or fingerprint to confirm that a specific person is the one that's using it & the work is not being done by some other, it also is one of the first Chinese apps to have obtained the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standard. Data are encrypted at SSL/TLS security standards. so a very secure app people trust . So the kids there who already pissed off with the chaos happening in the society thought about getting rid of the homework burden, Collectively the kids in the region came up with an ingenious plan & figured out if the app is downvoted & reviewed negatively in the App store in a massive collective manner , it will be put under suspension or be removed for review. thereby getting rid of the online tutoring for weeks. With viral speed, tens of thousands of schoolchildren reportedly began rating the DingTalk chat app with one-star reviews, knowing enough bad ratings would see it kicked off the App Store. The homework app's rating reportedly plummeted overnight from 4.9-stars to 1.4. but unluckily the app still held on without being removed. but the reviews got so bad developer had to to step in via social media to ask to stop what they were doing. app post begging for stars. ios appstore one star reviews. So what do you think about this? post your thoughts down below. i think it's somewhat brilliant co-ordination to get rid of a common problem. sources : https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v42/n05/wang-xiuying/the-word-from-wuhan https://www.bandt.com.au/wuhan-students-figure-out-ingenious-way-to-shut-homework-app/ https://bgr.com/2020/03/07/coronavirus-kids-app-wuhan-quarantine/ https://headtopics.com/uk/ingenious-kids-under-coronavirus-quarantine-manage-to-defeat-homework-11736207 https://fashionmodelsecret.com/world-news/ingenious-kids-under-coronavirus-quarantine-manage-to-defeat-homework/ https://mashable.com/article/wuhan-kids-app-coronavirus/ https://technode.com/2020/03/02/dingtalk-begs-for-stars-on-chinas-app-stores/
