  1. Cyber Kerchow Tesla Cybertruck hasn't entered into mass production , But even with that The Pre-orders have gone through the roof despite low expectations(thanks to memes). The Truck Boasting exceptional safety features such as stainless steel body & Bulletproof glass, Hard rock Chassis, Tough thick wide tires. It's basically an armor vehicle compared to regular & Off-road cars or even some mean looking SUV's. But ironically the same thing that makes it tough is apparently being put under scrutiny by some Safety Officials & Authorities as a hindrance to safety, For both the driver & the pedestrians. One of the main safety concern is pedestrians being hit by the truck & as you can expect from a tough stainless steel body & that almost sharp front side is tuff as hell(HARSH FRONT according to a commentator), According to current safety standards this needs to be soft almost pliable & collapsible when encountering an accident in order to reduce & lessen the effect of force driven injury to the pedestrian. The prototype with sharp steel front would most probably chop whoever standing in front into 2 with a given velocity. High Velocity & sharp front end design & 300-series stainless steel alloys, it is a brutal combo. (i mean look at this beast) This is somewhat can be fixed with a collapsible grill or a designed fender at front & it should pass the safety regulation feature. Which is what we can expect if the Truck ever passes the regulatory authority. Another concern is the lack of side/rear view mirrors, Although Tesla takes advantage of Hidden cameras at the Fenders at front (possibly at the back as well) the safety regulations insist the car should be having a visible side view mirror panel attached to the body (hidden camera for auto piloting & rear view) Another Concern is the tough Body in itself , meaning the the exteriors & chassis & whatnot, You can make it rock solid for safety reasons , But when it comes to real world applications an impact at very high velocity means the mass impact energy will be transferred to the occupants inside since the body doesn't absorb the impact force by properly deforming & absorbing the energy Onto the Next main concern, The odd protruding wheels , Safety Experts suggest that this could cause issues & put cyclists along with other motorists & pedestrians in harms way, this is kind of an obvious oneas thre design do look kinda like a monster truck version, safety would suggest that the tires align with the body so that it would not protrude out to put others in harms way. Another low key concern is the bullet proof glass , in an emergency if the door is stuck & the glass has to be broken/shattered in-order to gain access to the inside would be an impossible task. on the flip side though Robbers love this safety feature. go figure. (unbreak muh glass hart) & Onto to the next Safety concern "the Headlights". Although this is one of the main design feature of the cybertruck & brings the whole cars design aspect into looking modern & futuristic. safety experts suggest that this spreads out & scatters light without focusing light on the road. although the test drives showed the truck performing well with the built in light illuminating the road. the proper safety feature suggests that a vehicles headlights be able to focus strong on to a particular distance & with a certain intensity, Meaning an addition of Headlight Cluster affixed to the front of the car. It's a Safety Hazard alright! Anyways all of this & and a bunch of other minor feature stuffs are being scrutinized like windshield wipers which were absent in the prototype, improper shape of the vehicle, side indicators not being wide enough or present, rear fenders needing to be modified , steering wheel in relation to odometer placement etc. autopilot concerns & others. Plus the monopoly against this as an electric equalizer from the Gas Gang & also from competition who dont want to lose money. everything is obstructing the progress of this being a reality in some specific countries. Despite the Odd informal shape & supposed street legality, the pre-orders were pretty good & is expected to have record breaking sales for an electric vehicle. imo i think there are legit concerns that can be fixed & there are obstructive form of petty stuffs that is just a pointless nuisance , but as far as i'm concerned the car only needs a collapsible extended front end bumper & a good wiper & it's ready for the road! 2. DVD res is making a comeback yo! TLDR : YouTube streaming has surged due to people being under quarantine during this pandemic. Google is well equipped to handle YouTube streaming strain in the past, But the current problem is the consistency at which contents needs to be provided. For the first time ever Youtube is above Netflix ranking almost 2X the Volume in streaming data. To counter the global traffic Youtube is planning to reduce the default resolution to 480 to reduce the pressure on internet infrastructure globally. The resolution limit is set for a month (30 days) globally across all platform. 30 days limit is due to the expectation that the pandemic & associated quarantine will be under control by time. Most of the current generation isn't subscribed to cable like old gen folks glued to a TV , so naturally most of the internet platforms are being relied for daily entertainment. Plus Over 43% of the global internet is consumed by Netflix, Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft & Apple collectively. In Europe, video providers including Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+, are also slashing streaming quality to avoid internet congestion. Read about it in a previous thread here made by Porina >> Anyways what do you think about it , Post your comments & thoughts down below. imo i think it's a decent move. i wouldn't say a good one since it's the year 2020 & we shouldn't be at a 480p dvd res as a default at this point. that's 2009 dvd era shit. atleast 720p should be a standard. especially when they know they can handle it globally, but 480p is just reducing it furthermore for that extra safe space that isn't essential. 3. Now you can be ugly on the inside & on the outside. Last Year Microsoft produced a rare few set of sweater with the Windows 98 Theme & made only about 100 & delivered it to otheir close fans in the twitter circle, This year Microsoft made about 250 Sweaters & is on the process of doing a giveaway to those who follows their Windows twitter account like last year , but the number of sweaters have been doubled this year. Package Contents Some Tweets of the People who received the sweater. Speaking of Ugly Clothing, Check out https://www.lttstore.com/ So There's that. I wonder if Linus will be able to get his hands on one. what do you think? 4. I was helping my friend spec out a high-end personal rig, and I advised him to replace his i7 9700k with the Ryzen 3900x. He's curious about pricing, so we pull it up on Newegg. He looks at me like I'm crazy, because the processor was listed as $1,412!!! I checked other sources, and they too were jacking up prices, and most places were sold out. That was yesterday, and today I checked Newegg, and the price came back down to $530. I looked up if there was any tech news about an extreme shortage, and I found nothing, so I figured here would be the best place to post this info??
  5. There were rumors about Dr. Lisa Su leaving AMD and going to IBM. She has come forward and claimed that rumor is not true. This obviously has everyone speculating on why would she leave AMD at this point when it's doing so well. but then I started thinking about the other important VIP's who have left to work for other companies over the years like Ryan Shrout a tech journalist CEO joining Intel along with many other VIP moving to Intel. All these tech VIP migrations are leading me to speculate WHAT IF all the tech companies are secretly working together to ensure that none of them fail because they know competition is important for thriving businesses. What if they are intentionally moving the smartest minds to the companies that are hurting the most in order to bring those companies back up off the floor and get them back on their feet. Now that AMD has gotten back on its feet, everyone's flocking to Intel trying to save them from falling. and IBM has been declining in the market for the past 3 years so perhaps there is talk of moving tech VIP's over to IBM in order to help keep them afloat. At the end of the day we are all tech nerds who want to see great things happen with technology. We want to see innovation and improve performance staying cool and using less power! It wouldn't surprise me if the tech giants are working together to achieve the same goals using different methods! But that's just a theory, a crazy Terry theory, thanks for listening :P
  6. Conveniently Walter likes to cover the “Activate Windows” watermark as I watch the tech news. How do you watch the tech news?
  7. You will listen to this free U2 Album It is reported that during the software keynote at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, California next Monday, the tech giant is set to replace iTunes with different standalone version of music, television and podcast apps. replacing the almost 2 Decade old unifying app into 3 separate counterparts. Itunes was originally introduced in Jan. 9, 2001 . last update it received was at may 28 2019 just a few days back & that'll be the end of it, It's not planning to update the app according to the rumored news from Bloomberg. But no-one knows quite yet when it’ll put the service to bed permanently, presumably it’ll offer weeks or months for users to get their files in order before pulling the plug. The updated Music app will replace all music storage and organization functionality currently handled by iTunes. If you need to manage your iThings (local backups, OS updates, etc.), the Music app will take over there just as iTunes always has. users can expect the Music app to host many of iTunes’ audio features from now on. Apple already has dedicated apps for TV & Podcast being polished up for the event, with the introduction of the sleeker music app it will calling of the itunes app. Users can expect the new Music app to offer some of the same functionalities that iTunes currently does such as purchasing songs and syncing phones Music on mac OS retains the ability to sync a user’s devices such as iPhones and iPods. Devices show up in the sidebar just like they do on iTunes. The search bar has been moved to the sidebar, which integrates both Apple Music categories as well as the user’s local Music library, inherited from iTunes. This is the New Music App UI screenshot according to 9 to 5mac leaks Personally last time i used Itunes was way back when i got an ipod 3rd gen shuffle, the interface was pretty choppy back then i had no idea how to use it even after watching tutorials & kinda went with the flow & somehow added songs literally by luck. a stupid Chinese USB music player at that time had seriously better ease of use simple drag and drop interface which a few of my friends had. Maybe it would've changed later i could've gotten used to it but i dunno. And it looks like i'm not gonna.i used it rarely when i had the chance & whenever i was interacting with it i was confused creating playlist & having it organize files in my way. Anyways, So what do you guys think about this? Post your comments, rant, reaction down below. 8. Sub Me Senpai. Due to the recent trend in hate motivated mass unsubscription trend , Youtube is now taking a bold new strategy in curbing provoked mass hysteria. From August this year on-wards the current view of subscriber count will be rounded down & displayed, instead of showing the exact number of subscribers that are live at the moment, For example someone who has "7,475,678" subscribers it'll now be shown as "7,000,000" as a general average as "7.4 mill" , The only people excluded from the rounded down sub count show would be those that has less than 1000 subs , for them the numbers of subscribers that are shown will be exact & accurate. Content creators will be able to see exact subscriber count from YouTube studio. So only us viewers are hit by this odd decision from google. New format > https://twitter.com/TeamYouTube/status/1130882313066180610 https://twitter.com/TeamYouTube/status/11308823130661806 This will indeed will hit hard for live subscriber count sites like social blade & other 3rd party apps that take advantage of the publicly available counter. this is indeed very pointless & very little helpful when it comes to helping either parties , content creators wont get to ride the wave of their sub rise from now on in view of public & people who visit may be less enthusiastic about subbing due to stagnant value being shown. they're claiming that by doing so it foster a less adversarial and status-driven environment. where a content creator isn't attacked on based on recent events or whatever & showing a static number discourages other to follow a hateful trend. Make no mistake , this shit started from that willy wonka Sister James Charles V Tati feud which led to 2 mill sub drop in a period of 24 hours for sister James which is some kind of YouTube record iircc . The content creator probably talked with the head of Youtube about this, causing more drama leading up to this. Literally some Cringy drama shit affected everyone! So what do you think? Leave your comments/rants/opinions down below. IMO This is about a platform once again controlling narrative, Youtube has always been sub political when it comes to things affecting certain tiers of content creators. what bothers me about this is there can be foul play if they wanted it to happen without having to catch peoples attention, for example in a recent twitter trend that happened about a month ago i noticed this, a Kpop group had their view count cut down by 10 million in a span of one hour. fans/ other people were posting social blade counter & YouTube view counter as proof that tampering had happened, if a parent company can tamper that out in the open , imagine thing they'd do with a favoritism influenced partners sub count behind closed doors. Just imagine. Other than that Sub botting would now be imperceptible to regular viewers audience as there's no proof to see or record it. there's that malpractice option opened up. we saw this clearly with Pewds v T-series subs. both parties doing their part in it. to be fair i think this will indeed be a good tool to curb that domino effect of sub losses, but this had to be inclusive , if they had noticed the mass drop on per individual basis & apply this to that exact channel & give/take time figure out whats going on, then it'd be good, this might discourage or encourage new viewers decision about subbing or unsubbing. but at the same time know that mass un-subbing happens due to something . creators behavior/news/tantrum/rumor etc people rarely go out against another person without cause except general hate or-whatever which is less now. This would make channels look stagnant overtime, but anyways lets see where this goes. People responded like you'd expected : Sources : https://9to5google.com/2019/05/21/youtube-full-subscriber-counts/ https://www.cnet.com/news/youtube-will-abbreviate-subscriber-counts-starting-in-august/ https://variety.com/2019/digital/news/youtube-change-subscriber-counts-rounding-1203223404/ https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/21/18634368/james-charles-tati-westbrook-tfue-subscriber-count-change-youtube-social-blade

  13. The name itself is a terror! Researchers at security firm Compay called "CheckPoint Software Technologies" have uncovered a new malware that has allegedly affected over a million andoid devices upto this day, The attack campaign, named Gooligan, breached the security of over one million Google accounts. The number continues to rise at an additional 13,000 breached devices each day. Gooligan strain has infected nearly 1.3 million Android phone since August. The threat seems to be in a subtle nature, but still pretty harsh, taken they haven't breached into personal private files & used it as ransom , it seems a more pure ad revenue oriented attack like a p.u.p or p.h.a , the primary focus of the malware seems to be a massive advertising campaign The module allows Gooligan to: Steal a user’s Google email account and authentication token information Install apps from Google Play and rate them to raise their reputation Install adware to generate revenue Once installed, the infected apps root the devices to gain system access of devices. The rooted devices then download and install a software that steals authentication tokens. These tokens allow the attackers to access the user’s Google-related account without having to enter a password. The tokens work with a number of Google services, including Docs, Gmail, Drive, and Photos. How does Gooligan work? The infection begins when a user downloads and installs a Gooligan-infected app on a vulnerable Android device. Our research team has found infected apps on third-party app stores, but they could also be downloaded by Android users directly by tapping malicious links in phishing attack messages. After an infected app is installed, it sends data about the device to the campaign’s Command and Control (C&C) server. Gooligan then downloads a rootkit from the C&C server that takes advantage of multiple Android 4 and 5 exploits including the well-known VROOT (CVE-2013-6282) and Towelroot (CVE-2014-3153). These exploits still plague many devices today because security patches that fix them may not be available for some versions of Android, or the patches were never installed by the user. If rooting is successful, the attacker has full control of the device and can execute privileged commands remotely. After achieving root access, Gooligan downloads a new, malicious module from the C&C server and installs it on the infected device. This module injects code into running Google Play or GMS (Google Mobile Services) to mimic user behavior so Gooligan can avoid detection Below shown are the 2 examples of reviews left by users who were also found on the attacker’s records as victims User ! If your account has been breached, the following steps are required: A clean installation of an operating system on your mobile device is required (a process called “flashing”). As this is a complex process, we recommend powering off your device and approaching a certified technician, or your mobile service provider, to request that your device be “re-flashed.” Change your Google account passwords immediately after this process. Android security engineer Adrian Ludwig said the team was working closely with Check Point to investigate the Android malware family and to protect users. Ludwig claimed there was no evidence data was accessed from the compromised accounts, adding that users would receive a warning when such a malware strain was detected on their devices. 14. #SolidGold Last night, for the first time, the value of Bitcoin was higher than gold: $1,268 (about £1036) for one Bitcoin vs $1,233 (about £1,008) for a troy ounce of gold when the markets closed. The volatile cryptocurrency recently made history by closing in on one of the most valuable product on the market 'Gold' , The current high is being attributed to surging demand in China, many experts have questioned whether the crypto-currency will last but it's been pretty rough ride i dont follow much about bitcoin, but i do know it's a potentially valuable asset for trade , personally i dont trust bitcoins legitimity , this might be a potential bubble that could pop in the future , So feel free to discuss this topic & give your opinions down below sources: http://www.bbc.com/news/business-39149475 http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2017/03/bitcoin-is-now-worth-more-than-gold/
  15. Rewind , aka f*ck go back! & counting You knew the thing was doomed when it intro ed from Will-Smith & transitioned to Fortnight. Imagine creating an "open" "free" content creation & distribution platform , push it to the top of the the most reliable service providers for ordinary folks for years & years & later one day you went on making an Original Content video on your own platform years later & then have it be the most disliked video ever on the same platform that you created. introducing Youtube Rewind 2018! scoring in a whopping 10 mill 11 mill+ dislikes in under 7 days off of it's release. The video racked up 120 million views as of now. The video got hit hard by viewers who dislike the video . to scale, Previous record holder , Justin Biebers "Baby" Music video took over 7 years to rack up close to this level of dislikes. Youtube rewind is an Annual video mashup from Youtube itself which celebrates the platforms best content creators & it's most prominent & pinnacle content creators, recapping that years best biggest & most notable contents , trends, music & others of that year , it's usually presented in style by that years most prominent content creators in the platform involves musical, skits, choreography & such to present that years highlights. However this time around , it had a minor set back as it was set to be the most popular by the content creators , but ironically ended up being the worst most disliked video on the parent platform itself , according to viewer ratings on dislike. it's currently the worlds most dislike Youtube Video. a record which was previously held by a Justin Bieber music video "Baby" #Surprise followed by Jake Paul's Music video "it's everyday bro". The Youtube rewind is produced by Youtube & portal A interactive, content each year is posted on it's original channel Youtube Spotlight , The original Youtube rewind was first released in the year 2010 , from then on each year Youtube has produced it's own versions of Rewind for those each corresponding year. racking up mixed reviews & reactions, it was popular at first . but started to decline in popularity as things got too obvious. but it was usually a mix of reactions , depending on the quality of the content they put out. up until now 2017 video was the most disliked with 2 mil down-votes & also the most liked video with 3.9 mill upvotes , but this year it crossed those lines very dramatically racking in a whopping 10 million dislikes & 2.1 million likes , almost an 85% dislike ratio. Original Video: Current top 50 most disliked You tube Videos (wikipedia) Youtube Rewinds Like to Dislike ratio through out the past years (along with view count) The reason why it became the most disliked is a complex issue that looks too simple , Politics , Pushed trends, unpopular personalities , cheesiness , saturation , drama , you name it , it's a plethora of issues haunting it, also subtle issues like avoiding actual popular YouTube figure in it add to the whole mess of things . Marques brownlee who was also presenter in the video tried to explain it in a sensible way in one of his recent video addressing the issue, blamed disconnection between platform content creator & consumers , also blamed advertisersfor the whole mess. One of the best things that came out from it was the memes . So what do you guys think about this? why'd you like or dislike the video? 16. Kaspersky , a well known multinational cyber-security and anti-virus software provider is celebrating it's 20th Birthday , it was announced on this occasion that there will be a free basic Kaspersky Anti-Virus version being released to the public, The Software manufacturer hasn't had offered a free version of it's top tier software's except for minor free tools & basic free trials which runs it's course around over a month max . Their AV solutions have been on the very best AV choice list in terms of detection & stable program that is light weight & ease of use. General Software reviewers gave the Kaspersky AV solution 4 - 5 star ratings in majority of their reviews A reminder this is a basic version of the software , meaning you'll get the same time signature updates , Quarantine , Browsing protection , Email scan & the self protection feature to keep the software itself safe from attacks , Hey, it's better than Windows defender . For a lot more premium feature you do need to pay , like parental control, Secure Pay, Virtual KB/Anti-Keylogger , VPN, Customer support , The software release is set to be done periodically , so depending on the region You might have to wait to get your hands on the free version of the software , The first wave of free version release covers US, Russia,Canada,Sweden,China & a few other countries & rest of them will be released slowly . Countries like India, Hong Kong, Middle East, Africa, Turkey and Latin America will have to wait till September to get their hands on the software , Kaspersky?? Isn't that the Russian company? Kaspersky recently made a slight headlines as US Congress made a move to blanket ban the Kaspersky products from the PC used by government systems because of feared Manufacturer is based on Russia & might be succumbed to eaves drop from Russian political official influence. The company responded by saying it will provide it's source code directly to the concerned officials to clear up any kind of mistrust issues , Recently few of the US engineers who were working for the company was questioned by the FBI on this topic . But long story short , nothing came up . " As a private company, Kaspersky Lab has no ties to any government, and the company has never helped, nor will help, any government in the world with its cyberespionage efforts - KS Labs representative " I think it's a pretty decent move from the company , Lots of free AV solutions out there that offer free solutions , but with this amount of reliable detection & protection offered as free is a pretty good deal , hope they don't do forced registration to run a free version. Problem is that if you work on IT or even on a store you needed to sit down inorder to get the job done in front of a PC,This means remaining sedentary ,human hips weren’t designed to stay rooted in a chair. There’s a lot of cartilage in there that’s meant to allow walking, hence the hip rotations that let users scroll Solution?? Introducing , Interactive Dynamic Chair Now surfing the web is like attending a new-age Pilates class. Scroll around by shifting your body’s weight from side to side. Sensors in the seat detect the pressure and angle of your tush and communicate that data to three accelerometers that measure that movement on an axis, and translate it into activity on the computer’s screen. To click, kick up your right leg. Sensors will detect that motion too. For the time being, arms and hands are unencumbered, for typing, There are plenty of future possibilities there for development Demo video: Problem is that as of now the device can’t achieve the same accuracy that other motion detection software like Kinect can. 19. Now you can buy weird stuff too  Look into my eyes... i own your soul now.. Redditmade , The huge online community message board site unveiled it's Crowd funding site on Wednesday, Basically it's initiative is that to allows Reddit users to raise money to manufacture and sell customized items. as a way you've seen in kickstarter users are not required to put in any money upfront, if they reach the goal within 30 days from the time the project was put online & reach that goal, they'll be allowed to have the funding Screenshot! pew.. pew.. The move will add another revenue stream to Reddit, which has tried to find creative ways to make money from the millions of people who visit the site without angering its quirky community of Internet denizens. While users who create successful Redditmade campaigns can keep any money they have raised for themselves, Reddit also encourages users to donate the funds raised to charities, causes or individuals that the users find most important. But unlike Kickstarter, Redditmade focuses more on physical goods, like T-shirts, shot glasses and stickers. Users are asked to create a custom item and have 30 days to raise the necessary amount of funds or orders to manufacture and send out the item In addition to keeping all the donations, campaign owners also have the option to either sell at cost and thereby generate no profits or to donate any profits to a charity, event or individual. Reddit has grown enormously in popularity over the last five years & Although Reddit have been a shady site for over a few years as we know, with close to 170 million regular users to accomplish specific goals, Official subreddit campaigns will be highlighted as featured campaigns on Redditmade, and may also qualify for free ads on Reddit itself. Mods will also have the power to officially endorse other subreddit campaigns. In the past, popular Reddit sub communities have been able to coordinate action — for good or ill — across the web. When the annual Boston Marathon was attacked by bombers in April last year, Reddit embarked on a manhunt to identify the suspects. Users accidentally blamed the wrong person. They have achieved some good cause goals, Collectively in the past Redditors have raised money for cancer survivors, animal shelters and clean drinking water for developing countries in the past, all by rallying around causes brought to their attention on the site. Reddit also plans to donate a percentage of its revenue to charity, Bonus: So what do you guys think? Post your comments & Rants down belooooooooooooowwww... 21. Now you got an excuse to look up Facebook at work Facebook is working on an office version of its social network for employee-to-employee communication at work. This is not strictly a new site , Facebook employees often use the site in their daily routine, But use the modified version of the Facebook platform internally, and the company previously discussed rolling it out “Facebook for Work” to a wider audience Before you read on further, first & foremost this is a confirmed rumor, it's going to happen, But the release date has not yet been announced but the site is coming into play, probably around next year,The news was first reported by the Financial Times & Facebook declined to comment... (now proceed) The new site is set to compete with the likes of LinkedIn and Microsoft's Yammer, Facebook for Work would allow users to chat with colleagues, connect with professional contacts, and collaborate over documents by offering a service aimed solely at professionals, Facebook could further increase its advertising revenues and apply different rules to how and when content is displayed to users LinkedIn did something similar a long time ago where it shifted from a regular social media outlet into a professional platform & now mostly aimed solely at professionals as a publishing medium That process is reportedly now being tested ahead of an impending launch. New site will look almost the same with a familiar News Feed-based look, but with the express purpose of keeping personal and work lives separate. From this coming January onwards, Facebook will limit Page posts, making more room in your News Feed for updates from friends and family. Facebook will have to gain the trust of major organizations that require protected content. Already Plenty of corporations already turn to Facebook for promotional purposes. But security is still an issue. As we all know some companies already have issued Facebook bans on workspace & Facebook needs to get over this hurdle inorder to introduce this facility to those companies & even more the site now have to clear another major hurdle to allow secure file & document transferring protocol for work space. This also opens up new potential revenue channels for Facebook. Third-party apps for businesses,Sponsored contents & New advertising formats. no further details have emerged, including a potential release date, a working name for the product, or pretty much anything else If Facebook can successfully split the service into the personal and professional, the rules of the game could change radically especially if Facebook leverages the considerable power of its Atlas advertising platform with Facebook for Work. Quite a good news for you Social media junkies who wants a similar interface alternative for Facebook.. 22. Here's another bombshell @Trik'Stari According to WSJ The Justice Department is scooping up data from thousands of mobile phones through devices deployed on airplanes that mimic cellphone towers, Fake Flying Cell Towers Target Fugitives, But can ID Your Phone as well..a high-tech hunt for criminal suspects that is snagging a large number of innocent Americans, according to people familiar with the operations. According to the report, the federal government gathers the data from Cessna airplanes and can cover most of the U.S. population. These devices typically trick phones into sharing its location data and revealing the phone's identity. the planes carry a box that serves as a dummy cell phone site. That device mimics actual towers, duping nearby cell phones into connecting to it instead of a real phone company tower. Local police and federal agents make widespread use of these types of devices. Public records, such as this Florida court transcript, have revealed that police use this technology to gather information about suspects. Here's how ground based stingrays work.. So How do they do it..? These stingrays are so called dirtboxes & these are sophisticated enough to mimic a particular provider. If a drug dealer under surveillance uses Verizon, for instance, then the machine pretends to be a Verizon cell tower and connects only to all the carrier's subscribers in the area. Once a target's phone is identified (at which point, connections to other people's phones are dropped), the box can pinpoint his location within 3 meters and down to a specific room.the Cessnas fly out regularly to target a handful of criminals per flight. Obviously, the more densely populated the target area is, the more data the boxes collect, but it's unclear what steps are in place to safeguard innocent people's information. It's also unclear at this point if they've ever used the newer dirtboxes' capabilities, which include jamming phones and extracting messages, photos and other data remotely. as always Police agencies refuse to disclose information about the devices. Law enforcement agencies have non-disclosure agreements FYI The original source is undisclosed & will remain as it is.. Please do Leave your thoughts & comments down Below.., Technology can be amazing sometimes things like this are somewhat essential, but humans have been unpredictable & history has shown it..it will be interesting where the line between being human & a psycho maniac cross over... 23. SSD's of the future A Chinese firm called Sage Microelectronics(startup company) has developed a controller that enables drives with 5 TB of capacity , The chip is already "shipping in volume" in a 2.5-incher that squeezes 2.5TB onto a single circuit board. Sage’s technology enables a single SSD controller IC to address up to 5TB of flash memory (on an array of 10 X 4 X 128GB eMMC BGA modules). Unlike most SSD controllers, which are designed to work with individual flash memory chips, the Sage S68x family uses SD, MMC, and eMMC modules. Data is striped across up to 10 parallel channels, each of which can host four flash devices. A 10 x 4 x 128GB "array" is required to hit 5TB, and redundancy doesn't appear to be a part of the picture. The arrangement resembles a RAID 0 setup. By offloading the management and high pinout interface of individual flash memory chips to the flash controller IC embedded in each flash memory card, the new Sage S681 can effectively manage ten memory cards, increasing SSD capacity ten-fold. “A proprietary controller is key in the sense of getting flash to survive in an enterprise setting ,The overall quality may not stand up against time; it’s tough to know how good proprietary quality is.” Flash cards require fewer traces than chips, according to Sage, making it easier to fit lots of storage within a limited form factor. The controller also lets drive makers mix and match JEDEC-compliant cards from different manufacturers. Each card is responsible for its own flash management. The press release mentions a multi-core architecture that devotes one core to each pair of memory channels, plus one more to the Serial ATA interface. Surprisingly, though, it doesn't note the speed of that interface or make any performance claims at all. That's probably because the SG68x is capped at SATA II speeds. The product page lists maximum sequential rates of just 260MB/s for reads and 225MB/s for writes. Random I/O rates aren't provided, The Sage S68X family of SSD controllers includes three devices: t he S681 supports 10 memory channels, the S682 supports 5 memory channels, the S685 support 4 memory channels. All three devices are currently in mass production, and all are priced under USD 5.00, depending on volume and that flash cards are price-competitive with NAND chips. The idea is that SSD makers can build ultra-high capacity drives for roughly the same per-gig cost as conventional SSDs. The Sage S681 device, currently in mass production, employs a SATA II interface to drive 10 channels of SD, MMC or eMMC flash memory cards, with each channel supporting up to 512GB of flash memory Bonus: Better storage+speed at almost half the price, hope to see companies implement this as early as possible to the consumer market, Post your thoughts/comments down below... 24. Do you even rift bro? Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe said at a conference in Ireland today that the current developer model, code-named Crescent Bay, is "largely finalized for a consumer product." Brendan Iribe (Oculus CEO) Iribe says the company has changed significantly since it was acquired by Facebook in March. Operating as an independent subsidiary, Oculus has grown from 75 people to over 200 employees and now operates a separate R&D division. Alright , Here's the kicker to this, When he said months , he meant technically, 23 months , By that it would qualify as "many months" but "not years." <_< technically it's 2 years The big challenge remains developing an effective input device. Iribe says keyboards, mice and gamepads aren’t up to the job and neither is gesture-control at this point When on the interview where he was asked about the threat of rival VR products, Iribe said his main concern is choppy implementation of the VR technology So when asked that when would Oculus felt that it would be ready to launch to consumers? ibre responded “We’ve gone out there and set this bar,We want to get it right,We don’t want it to be four or five years. We’re eager for this to happen.” pretty good news update imo, What do you think? Leave your comments rants & Thoughts down belowwwwwwww.. 25. Payday... Pay After Delivery, a paypal service which introduced to order items online without having to make the payment immediate , the company officially announced this at the Money2020 payments event in Las Vegas today. The payment firm also revealed new partnerships with Burger King and GoDaddy as well as with Visa firms Authorize.net and Cybersource. The company piloted Pay After Delivery in the U.K. last year and then tested it earlier this year in the U.S. PayPal has decided it is now ready to launch the service officially, saying that “millions of consumers” have tried it and the time is now right for a marketing push. The goal, as PayPal puts it, is to give customers “the same level of confidence whether they shop online or in store.” While shoppers get to buy and pay later, merchants still get paid immediately, meaning PayPal is essentially offering a two-week loan. Furthermore, the company is “looking to roll out Pay After Delivery globally,” . PayPal currently has over 157 million customers in 203 markets around the world. If this service catches on, it could become another differentiator for the payment platform. Initially, Tillster will turn the feature on for only select locations. It will roll out to all U.S. locations by sometime early next year. PayPal is facing increased competition from all sides of the tech industry. It’s exactly new features like Pay After Delivery and deals like the above that will help it stay relevant Bonus: Post your thoughts/comments & rants down belooooooowwwww...........
