Hi all, I recently finally upgraded my rig. One big reason for it was getting HDMI 2.1 with VRR, to get full use of my LG C9 which supports VRR. I enabled it on driver side and TV side (Instant Game responds is activated and I also get the info, that it is in fact active when my PC signal is selected, HDMI Ultra Deep Color also.) Sadly, I get relevant screen tearing. (It is really bad, even I have scenes, which are not moving so fast and at 90 fps I am wondering how it would be this bad even without vrr at all.) I can notice this on Witcher 3, which definetly runs lower than 120 fps, so it really should not happen with vrr, correct? Sadly LG does not allow meaningfull debug info on their side and all I can see on PC side, that it is in fact active. Am I mistaken, that vrr fixes screen tearing, or is it not working correctly? Can I do anything about it?

In my mind, it is trying to predict how long rendering the next frame will take, then delays starting the task. I am rather curious as to how RTSS can reduce latency by so much, compared with alternatives like just VSync I would expect that for a scenario with 1% lows of 120FPS+, that enforcing a frame cap of 120FPS would actually have higher latency than Scanline Sync 120Hz. Can anyone with the technical knowledge on this chime in, or perhaps just anyone who is also curious?

Hello, my laptop, which I bought in June, started to tear and feels laggy. I never had such problems in the summer, I was playing all games without vsync with high fps but it started suddenly. My Specs: ASUS TUF A15 2023 Edition. RTX 4060. Ryzen 7 7735HS. 2x8 DDR5 4800MHz RAM. 500GB M.2 SSD. 144Hz G-Sync Screen. Win 11. I dont know why this started to happen. My roommate has asus tuf 2022 edition with RTX3050 and when we compare 2 laptops on CS2 with no v-sync my computer has more tearing and feels like not 144hz. His computer gets 180fps and mine is getting 220fps, we both have 144hz monitor and his laptop dont even have gsync but mine is not smooth. I tried to uninstall drivers with ddu and reinstall but nothing changed. I might refund or send to warranty. If someone help I would be happy, thank you. https://vimeo.com/891160344?share=copy This is the video that I recorded.

I have tearing when I don't have games opened, but when I am with games opened in the background, the tearing stops.

So I am having this really obscure issue that I cannot seem to figure out wherever I ask for help. I recently bought a new monitor (144hz) and I am having some trouble. When I first set up the monitor, I had no issues that I could find. One day I wanted to find a new way to record clips as the game bar was recording a black screen, and decided on nvidia shadowplay. This is just a different game DVR software. The moment I downloaded it and tried to use it my monitor and games started acting strange. My GPU usage increased from before, I was getting screen tearing that I could not stop with GSYNC or VSYNC, and there is another issue with the formatting of my games. Every game so far has been screen tearing, and some games I am scared to even open because while the formatting thing is happening my CPU jumps up to 100% usage so I instantly kill the game as to protect it. Video of the formatting issue linked here. I have since deleted shadowplay and the problems persisted. I tried many different solutions like playing with my control panel settings, all the blah blah your monitor can't keep up with your GPU stuff. Nothing has worked, and I have a feeling the problem may not be that simple. I have the latest Nvidia drivers for my GPU, I have tried variable refresh rate on and off, I have tried Vsync on and off, triple buffering on and off, and I also did a full uninstall of my graphics drivers and a clean install of the new ones. One more thing to note is that it says my monitor (Acer VG240Y S) is not G sync compatible in the control panel even though it is and I have a 1.4 DP cable. Operating system- Windows 10 64 bit Ryzen 5 3600 OC 4.20 GHZ, Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super OC, 16 GB DDR4 3200 memory, 600 Watt - Thermaltake Smart Series - 80 PLUS Gold PSU, 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD, ASRock B550 PRO 4 MOBO Is there anyone who has experienced this or may have extensive knowledge of this type of stuff? My pea brain cannot handle this level of computer science. Thanks ahead of time.

Hi everyone! Managed to finally score an RTX 3080 and I have been loving the experience, but I am having a really strange micro-tearing/stuttering issue. I was not able to capture it in a recording so I'll do my best to describe it. In every game I have tried, upwards/downwards movement (maybe sideways too but it's more noticeable when moving up/down) seems to cause small frame tears or micro-stutters in the image. My frametimes are smooth and I am well within the GSYNC range of my monitor (Samsung Odyssey G7 at 1440p 240Hz). I tried reinstalling drivers, etc and nothing seems to fix this. I upgraded from an RTX 2060 Super and I also tested a GTX 1060 and I did not experience this issue with any of those cards. Any ideas?

Hello, I built my pc a bit over a year ago, and I've been experiencing very annoying things. About 3 months ago I had problems with my PC turning off and realized that to fix it I just had to put a little pressure on the Gpu's PCB to make sure the VRMs were touching the cooling pads. This worked but lately I've noticed that games, although they run fine 160-230 fps, they don't feel like they do. I feel micro-stutters, screen tearing, and even some games like Apex Legends run on 160 fps but feel like it's running 30 fps. These micro-stutters happen out of games too, while moving windows around, for example, they stutter. I've tried a lot of things, changing many settings on Windows 10, trying in-game settings but nothing seems to work. I might have a clue because my psu has been unreasonably loud, maybe it has to do with the psu or the voltage that is going into it, I'm not sure how to test that, but yeah, the psu fans are running like 100% on games. It could also be thermal throttling since my gpu, which I bought renewed came with rather bad cooling and reaches a peak of 84 - 85°C while playing games. I'm starting to get a bit frustrated especially because watching videos of these games on my phone at 60fps looks smoother than on my screen at 144hz. I might consider changing my gpu and psu if nothing works, I just hope that there's a way to make it better. Hello, The problem I'm having is a kind of microstutter or visual bug. It is prevalent in all apps within Windows, but especially noticeable within my browser (Brave) while scrolling and when looking around or moving quickly in all games. Looks similar to this Blur Busters demo at times. https://www.testufo.com/stutter#demo=microstuttering&foreground=ffffff&background=000000&pps=720 It's basically a new pc at this point, having replaced everything but the case, fans and displays. This pc is running a MoBo overclock preset at the moment and an XMP profile but I've tried with and without and it makes no difference. It has extremely stable CPU temps (30 °C IDLE - 75° C LOAD) and GPU temps (50°C IDLE - 80°C LOAD). I hope all of you are doing well. My father recently bought a Samsung 27 inch Curved Monitor (LC27RG50FQWXXL, delivered on 22nd of April), which is a Full HD, 240Hz Display. It is connected to my system via DisplayPort. (The System is an i3 9100F paired with a second-hand RX 580 4GB, which has been with us for over a year) While the display has been fine in itself, and I have been sure to change the Refresh Rate from the default 60 to 240Hz, and have also enabled Adaptive Sync in the Radeon Software Settings along with the installation of the Monitor Drivers (for both HDMI and DisplayPort) through the Samsung website, only yesterday I realized that during video playback on YouTube, there was some glitching and tearing (which would last for a split second, without any screen blackouts, see attached file for an example), and the same would happen on Microsoft Edge, when I was scrolling through some PDFs. In Chrome, however, the problem was gone when I disabled Hardware Acceleration in its settings. So please guide me, what exactly is the issue here. My Monitor, or my GPU? Because if it's the monitor (which I highly doubt), the window for Replacement on Amazon is through the 29th of April, and if its the GPU, well I'll just deal with it, because I had to anyways reduce the Max Frequency by 10% because otherwise it would black out during gameplay. Hey guys! I have tried some troubleshooting myself, and am to the point I think I know the problem. My only concern is that if I am right, I have to buy a new cpu and motherboard, which I do not wish to do if I can find any other way to fix my problem. Anyways My rig consists of an intel I7-6700 nonK, Samsung 860 evo ssd, 16gb 2333 ram, amd 5700 (non reference card), with an Asus hero mobo. I am having trouble with getting a smooth gameplay, especially with first person shooters. I really think it is something to do with the CPU, however I am unsure. I will get decent frame rates (above 60) and then go to turn and shoot someone and have frame drops/freezing. I can't tell exactly what the problem is, I just know that it is enough to make me not play on my PC, as I can't manage to have a smooth gameplay. I have tried turning down the settings and it does not seem to help. Stress tests for the gpu run fine, and this leads me to believe that my cpu is either just underpowered for my GPU, or that there is something wrong with it. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I just built my PC Yesterday, and after about an hour of use, I began having display issues with my Sapphire RX 480. It first began when I downloaded Sapphire's TRIXX software and was messing with clock speeds. The screen began bugging out so i rebooted my PC. Now, when I boot up windows, the screen is glitching wherever I move my mouse. Its a bit like screen tearing but only on certain parts of the screen. Additionally, when I went into my bios and peeked around, It was telling me that my card was in a PCIE x16 slot running at x1. When I took out my GPU and reverted to HD 630 Integrated Graphics, everything worked as intended with no bugging. Here's a list of everything I know: - Screen glitches occur while posting in BIOS AND in windows. - Only occurs with my RX 480 (Integrated Graphics work as intended without issues) - x16 PCIE slot is running at x1 Speed Things I have done to fix the issue (without success) - Reinstalled latest drivers - Reverting all BIOS settings to Default - Switching from HDMI to DVI - Re-seating GPU - Uninstalling SAPPHIRE Trixx Software Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

So I just noticed this weird "artifcating" I guess, I don't know the correct term for what this is, on my monitor. Whenever video is playing you can see a rectangular portion of the screen that looks off, kinda like screen tearing in games. In the picture you can see what im talking about and I took that as a still from a video i took of the problem. But I noticed that it doesnt happen at all in games as far as I can tell, even with V Sync off. Any ideas just based on this image and information? EDIT: Also when theres a static image on the screen, nothing looks off, just in motion. EDIT EDIT: I have a dual monitor setup and the monitor this is happening on is running off DVI because of physically broken HDMI port. Specs: i5 3570 GTX 1070 8GB Ram DDR3

I've never been able to play a game without having extremely noticeable screen tearing. I used to be running a GTX 680 OC from Gigabyte which I thought was the problem, sent it in, got a new one, no fix. So I got a new monitor, no fix. I deemed that system doomed and just moved on. I bought a Razer Blade 2016 since I began to travel a lot. Thinking a brand new system would solve my problems, I have wrong. Still when I play my games I have horrid screen tearing that takes away from the experience. No matter what game I play (primarily FPS: CS, CoD) I have ridiculous screen tearing which makes my games unplayable for me. No matter what resolution I play at: 720p, 1080p, nothing fixes the problem. I have the most recent driver updates from nvidia, and I am still unable to get the tears to go away. Can anyone give me advice to fix this so I can finally enjoy my games?

Hello everyone, I would like to ask You all for help. After a recent windows update i started having a problem with my second display. Whenever it's displaying content that is moving, like a video or just scrolling the browser, the screen starts to act weird - it tears, some kind of artifacts are showing up, it starts flickering. I've recorded what is happening here: My setup is as follows: FX6200 Msi R9 280x 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz Asus M5A97 Samsung 750 SSD Corsair VS 650W main screen: Iiyama ProLite E2409HDS over HDMI - this one works good 2nd screen: BenQ G2400WA over miniDisplayPort->VGA adapter. So far I tried: Swapping from my old DVI->VGA adapter to mentioned miniDP-VGA. For about an hour it looked like the problem was fixed, but it came back eventually. Using different VGA cable Does anyone have an idea how to fix it? Thanks for any tips! ~Illi

Hey guys, I have an issue with my new Eizo EV2455. Trying out a tactical shooter (Squad) I noticed pretty heavy tearing when standing and just looking around the field (moving mouse only). I had the sRGB mode on and I'm curious now if this is the source of "lag" or if I should retoure my monitor. Some reviews said it would be a good monitor even for casual gaming. Thank you in advance :-)

How's it going, guys. I am currently using an ultra-wide, 21:9 aspect ratio monitor, loving the experience for the most part, however, recently I've run into a pretty big problem; when I play games that support ultra wide, I have no issues whatsoever, it's when I play games that don't support ultrawide and the borders of the of the display narrow to 16:9 that I run into high screen tearing and seemingly lower refresh rate. I also have g-sync and 100hz on my display, so it's very easy to tell the difference. One strange thing I've observed is when I change the display mode in options to "borderless windowed" from "fullscreen" the tearing and low frame rate are fixed, but I get much lower performance and higher input lag, as is expected with using the borderless windowed option. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm planning a build for a friend and the card that I have picked out is the EVGA ACX3.0 superclocked 1070 because there is a killer deal at my local microcenter that makes it the cheapest card. My only worry is that his monitor whic is a Lenovo LL2264d. The monitorr is 1080p and 75hz with no gsync or freesync. Will my friend end up experiencing bad screen tearing if all settings were cranked up? And should I give up future proofing to go with a card like the 1060 or 580? Or and this is my last question try to convince him to invest in a new monitor?

So hey 10 mins ago i wanted to play a game of CS Go after 3 weeks of dont starve( dont starve works perfect) and i was really disappointed , not because of my aim rather because of screen tearing. I had screen tearing all over the place , in the middle of the screen in the bottom third in the top tenth and it kept changing its location all the time. What can i do? Btw. I use the internal GPU in my 6600k and i dont know what to do because like i said dont starve works like a charm.

Laptop: Modified MSI GT70 0NE CPU: 3610qm running at 3.1 GPU: GTX 870M (Old gpu died) RAM: 16GB Drives: Dual 64gb SSD RAID0, 750gb 7200rpm HDD. OS: Win 10 In games i for the most part get screen tearing and i can't handle the input lag of Vsync. The tearing is always. ALWAYS Horizontal and only goes away when i have >110 FPS (Sometimes occours anyway.) I have the newest Driver and have tried other driver. The games i can think of in top of my head that has this issue is: Dota 2: Currently solved with Vsync and fps cap at 59 for reduced input lag. Battlefield 3. Solved by having the frame rated capped to 59. Vsync off! (It happens with framerate capped at 60 or above) CS GO: Only get slight tearing while looking at certain walls or objects that have vertical stripes going down (Can explain more if needed) (Happens with 200 fps) Black Ops 2: happens even up to 150 fps for some reason. Only solution is Vsync. Bioshock: Havn't tried much but vsync fixes. GTA 5: Some slight screen tearing but barely noticeable Here's some examples on games that are simular but don't have tearing: Paladins APB Reloaded Garry's mod SMITE tribes: Ascend WildStar Awesomenauts PayDay 2 Skyrim FarCry 3/4 Arma 3 and many more games Tried to record some examples but record software couln't pick up on the tearing. The tearing happen in varius different strange ways. For example: In battlefield it happens in the upper part of the screen, In dota 2 it happens mostly in the middle and in CS:GO it happens only while looking at certain things. Any ideas?

Ive been looking between a g-sync display and a non g-sync display, with the former being a 1080p 180Hz TN panel, and the latter being a 1440p 60Hz IPS panel. I was wondering if a GPU delivering a constant 60 FPS or more on a 60 Hz display would experience screen tearing.
