What is the best deal you bought because you saw at a store or online? I have been seeing some good deals recently. For like HDDs, Ram, and SSDs. Like a couple of months ago, I was going for a ram upgrade for my build from 16gb to 32gb. Since I game and build mods for games like left 4 dead 2, Skyrim and Fallout and I use blender and other 3d modeling softwares. So I went to best buy right when the deals change (sometimes they honor the deals of last week at the present week), they had 4x8gb kit for 275 but the deal they had for the 2x16gb for 175 on sale and bought two of the 2x16gb kits for 75 more than the 4x8gb. I know it's overkill but couldn't past that offer.

So, in August I'm moving out to go to a residential High School. I've decided to build a PC for my dorm. The build contains all components and my top budget it $1,300US. Hi all, I've recently come over from Toms Hardware forums as of today due to some questionable mod actions and subsequent reprimands regarding threads I assisted with. The problem was that they supposedly were written in a specific manner which was deemed to be unsuitable, and I was annoyed with not being physically permitted to help out to the best of my ability, so i've moved here! I wanted to give an example scenario and see if this was okay on this forum. A user with low end specs, E.g. a Pentium E2210, 4GB of RAM and a GT 710 wants to know what low end games he can run, but says he doesn't have the money in the cards at the moment for an upgrade. As an answer I suggest a few low end games he hasn't mentioned yet, and also mention as a side note that his hardware is somewhat lacking if he wants to play anything other than lower requirement titles into the future, and subsequently point him towards either a 1050/GT 1030 for a bit more oomph later down the line, or if he saves up, to look at something like an entry level PC list, which I proceed to post purely as a suggestion. Would this be considered an acceptable response while retaining relevance to the question?

hello everyone, iam currently doing PLC and automation courses and would like to set a lab in my garage to be as close to industry manufacturing automation as possible obviously on a small scale. so what do you guys suggest for a PLC and automation LAB ? the materials iam doing in the course are Ladder programming for PLC and general automation interactions with the PLC. i've found some bargain deals on ebay for buying PLC CPU units but i need to get some ideas on what other hardware i need to build my own sort of production line? please be as detailed as possible in your kind answers. Hi there, thank you for reading my post! I want to start streaming to twitch, using a secondary PC. Not only because I have spare parts, but also to keep the load off my Gaming PC and to keep a high stable framerate. My main PC is able to play R6S at a decent framerate (~140FPS@ 2560x1440) but in order to able to play competitively and lag free, i want my encoding load off my main PC. Main PC Specs: i7-4790k / 16GB RAM GTX1070 165Hz 2560x1440 Monitor My secondary PC would rock a GTX 770 since it is just sitting on my shelf. I would also throw in 8GBs of DDR3 RAM. Woud a Haswell quadcore be enough? (i.e: i5 4570 or Haswell Xeon, if I can find a cheap one) I have all the parts ready and I do know how streaming on 2PCs vie Network works. I can not afford to upgrade my main PC because I would have to Buy CPU, MoBo and RAM. Is my assumption correct, that my main PC is not able to encode and play at high Framerate? PLS Help! May the Force be with you all!

Clearly like the title says i've a micro second freezes 0.5 to 1 second in all video games no matter if game old or new (even old 2D games like tibia freezes).. and i mean by freeze is the whole pc stops for a millisecond and sometimes up to 1 second and continue like normal (this happens so random and frequently) even the pc is brand new, i noticed this freezes only in video games but in anything else i never noticed it, and it happens only in actual gameplay, like if i ran the game and playing with the menu and settings nothing would happen but only in actual gameplay and it happens much! Specs: CPU: Intel core 15 6600kCOOLER: Corsair h100i v2MEMORY: 2 x 8 g. skill ripjaws xMOBO: Asus maximus 8 heroGPU: Nvidia Gtx strix 1070STORAGE: Samsung 850 evo 250g + Western digital caviar blue 1tbPSU: EVGA 650 g2CASE: NZXT Noctis 450So i started this build a while back and i realized it would not post. figured out it was a dead psu (Corsair rm750 at the time) and replaced it with the above. thought that was the end of it. wired everything up and plugged it into a monitor, and i get a message telling me that the system was in bios recovery mode and i needed to put a bios file on a usb stick, plug it in, and reset it. i did. nothing. tried again w/ the correct bios this time. still nothing. then i was told to flash the bios, and it would not finish flashing. i turned off and unplugged the usb. tried flashing it again later as an afterthought, and it actually worked. but now a whole new set of issues emerged. when i turn on the computer, i now get a cpu LED that i did not get before. somehow my usb got destroyed somewhere along the way. i also get a 00 qcode, the qcode was f9 back before the flash. i tried to clear the cmos, reseat the cpu, reseat the ram, tested the psu (it Works). all i achieved to do was to get it to restart a couple of times before stably powering on. also if i press the power button o mobo/case it will not work. i have to power off the psu itself. anyone know what the hell is going on here? ASUS said my mobo is dead, i suspect the cpu.

I have the AeroCool X-Predator X3 case and although I've managed to conceal most of the wires in the cable-management space provided, I have to store all the case fan connectors in the empty cd-drive rack. Hi guys I am looking to build a small form factor gaming rig, I will be wanting the systems to be able to run any of the newest titles of games at 1080p at a minimum FPS of 70. I need the system to be small form factor because I do not have a lot of room to put the system. I will not be needing a GPU as I will purchase one of the nvidia pascal GPUs when they get released at the end of this month or at the start of next. Hello Everyone, To preface, this is my build: CPU__________AMD FX 8350 CPU Cooler ____Stock AMD Cooler RAM _________Kingston khx1333c9d3b1/4g DDR3 2x4GB 1333mhz Motherboard___Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 rev 1.3 Storage_______1 TB Hard drive (OS windows 10) + 500 GB Hard drive Video Card ____Nvidia 9800 GT 1GB ddr3 PSU Before____550W Cooler Master RS-550-PCAR-E3 PSU now______430W Corsair CX series Case_________Old NZXT case (no cooling issues as it has 4 120mm fans at the left side, right on top of the motherboard, 2 120mm fans behind, 1 120mm in the front and 1 80mm at the top) Problem: After replacing my PSU, and plugging everything correctly (except the video card that is powered by a molex, by mistake), I got no video output but the fans, lights, hard drives and optical unit turns on. When turning off and subsequently turning on again (still without the video card molex power) there's video and windows 10 boot up to asking my password, then video fails. Turned off and saw the video card was without power, plugged it in turned on aaand "I got no video output but the fans, lights, hard drives and optical unit turns on". A little bit of the history of the system: It belonged to a friend. Around a year or two ago he disassembled and stored it because his video card had gone bad and he had a good gaming notebook and didn't want the hassle of fixing things. So I got it from him to fix and keep the working parts. I assembled everything (with an old, working, nvidia 9800gt) and got the no post/no video problem. I solved it by getting everything out of the motherboard (including the cpu) and turned it on, then off and placing everything back on. Video was fine, everything was fine and I got windows 10 on it. Got a BSOD (irql_not_less_or_equal) possibly associated with the ram, thought it was a bios problem and noted that the bios version it was using was not compatible with my cpu (AMD FX8350) (do not remember witch it was, but I think my friend never updated it as he had no problems, even with the not supported cpu. Following the rule "not broken, don't fix"). Before I could update the bios the PSU failed (the system was off, as I went to work. When a got home nothing would turn on, unplugged everything and paperclipped the green and black wires and not even PSU fan turned on. Ordered a PSU and when it arrived, I did the procedure in the beginning of the post. In all this time, I've never managed to make the speaker beep (tried with three different speakers). Even when the system works or no component (no ram nor cpu) is present it does not beep. The only thing that I know that can cause problems is that my CPU is not supported by the BIOS revision installed on my motherboard but could be if I manage to update the bios. Should not be a problem though, as the system worked fine for a couple of days, and my friend used it before with no problems. What I've already done: -Tried using hdmi and vga cables. The cables are fine and the monitor is also fine, as they work with my notebook. -Removed everything, like the first solution, and nothing. -Removed motherboard battery. -CMOS reset by shorting the "Clear CMOS Jumper" of the motherboard -Tested both RAM sticks separately in each slot. -Tested video card in the other pci-e slot. -Took out the case reset switch -Removed the motherboard from the case and did everything again. I'm almost giving up, but I would like to try another CPU to see if the problem is incompatibility with motherboard/CPU because of the old bios version. My concern is if I can damage the other CPU (FX6300) if the motherboard has really gone bad. Any help would be appreciated.

The PC i want to build is: i5 4440 GTX 960 2GB i know that there is currently not much difference in performance of 1333 Mhz and 2133Mhz.. But What about future games.. Will my 8gb 1333 Mhz running in dual channel (2 x 4GB) last for next 5 years for gaming. Any help is appreciated.

Hi guys, I will be building my first system before the End of next month once I gather the funds. The purpose of this system will be for gaming, I will also use the system for virtualization, programming, web design and web browsing. I went with the X99 platform because I wanted the latest platform and for future proofing. I will also be upgrading the RAM to 32gb at a later date. I have a budget of £1200. I am unsure on a few parts such as the Case and PSU. Case - I have gone with the Enthoo pro case but am also considering the NZXT H440 or the Air 540. PSU - I am unsure on which brand's are reliable and how much wattage I will require, I will be going with a better GPU further down the line such as 980ti or the titan x. I am a software developer so will be using this machine for whatever software projects I come up with which would usually involve running visual studio and SQL server. I am also notorious with my internet browser habits, I'll have at least 20 tabs open after 5 minutes of browsing. Plus skype, torrent and other programs, so I have no trouble hitting 8 GB of RAM just by doing that. That's why 16 GB. I might do some video capturing/editing but not sure how I often I will do that yet. I am also planning on gaming with this system and even though I will have one display initially I am planning to buy additional two afterwards for some surround gaming in simulator games like StarCitizen and newest Need For Speed. I am not shy on dialing down some settings to get high frame rate so I am not to worried about not be able to run any games in the near future, and I can always fall back to single display with high AA settings if required. Plus G-Sync should help a lot with any frame rate dis anyway. I am also planning to hook this PC to 4K TV, that is in the same room but mainly will be used watch movies and TV Shows (maybe some playing some RPGs like Witcher 3 if I feel like it). I wonder how crazy it would be to hook one 1080p display and 4K TV, and how much crazier to do this with triple monitors and 4K. I am OK with disabling additional displays in software, but can I leave cables. But would like to know if I can operate 3 displays or at least one while someone else is watching movie in 4K on TV. So I as I just mentioned eventually I am planning to buy two additional 1080p displays and run them from the same 980 Ti video card, or maybe buy second one for SLI if required. I am concerned about 28 PCI lanes on the CPU of my choice, will these be enough though. With this setup I am also not sure about SSD for my OS. I could go M.2 instead of SATA. From what I read M.2 uses 4 lanes though. Not sure if this would give me any tangible benefits. I assume even with SLI setup PCI slots would look like x16/x8/x4 which should provide enough bandwidth. From what I know SATA express would use PCI Express lanes, but the WD drive I chose uses SATA 3.0 which does not require any PCI Express lanes. As you probably guessed I am planning to torture this system quite heavily, so I will be overclocking CPU to at least 4.0 GHz, but it's quite cool at my place I might push it to 4.4 for stable operation. GPU will be overclocked if stock performance will be not as satisfactory before I consider investing in SLI. Having all of the above in consideration I still would expect the system to be quite especially while watching TV or browsing Web. I do understand that this system will be audible when playing games but I am not as worried about that as I am planning to use headphones. I am planning to add additional fan in the front to create positive pressure in the case. I don't want water cool my CPU even with AIO cooler, as I feel it's more risky and a bit noisier. AIO solutions have 3 sources of sound (and points of failure) as opposed to one. So... am I heading in the right direction? How realistic my expectation about what this system could achieve? Any changes, suggestion, critique will be appreciated. My budget initially was about 1500 pounds for a system without one display and, but I guess I can push it up to 2000 pounds for everything (PC+Display).
