Good day to everyone! I recently reinstaled windows on my pc and laptop, and i did a lot of reinstalations in the past on different pc's. Now, as many might know, reinstalling windows and instaling every program and files on your pc can be frustrating, and apart from that sometimes a clean instalation of windows may cause different problems for unknown reasons. So any time i reinstall windows, i usually remember the files and reinstall anything necesarry. Then, after reinstalation i use "restoro" to check the system stability and repair it if needed, as well as make a save point of the system after i instaled everything properly. However, i have a lot of software and files that i am using in everyday to day life. I have an external drive that i copy all the files that i need usually, but that doesnt mean that the reinstalation is not frustrating in some cases, especially if i have 2 pc's. Therefore i tried to find a solution for this problem. Now, i have 2 pc's, one of which is a custom build one in Ghost s1 case, and the other is a MSI prestige laptop. So if i to backup my pc's in any way, i have a few options avaliable: MSI laptop has a software called MSI system image recovery, which copies the files to an external usb or any drive, CD, or via internet. But what it actually makes is a recovery drive, which means it is essentially a boot usb drive with windows 10 on it. This provides a clean instalation of windows using a usb drive if the system fails in the future. The other options that are included in windows, and it goes for both of my pc's, are: 1) Archive system in windows settings that copies the personal files on to a drive 2) System recovery tool that is esentially the same thing as MSI system image recovery 3) Disk image, which is a tool that copies your entire drive, in order to recover it if something goes wrong Considering all these factors, the best option for me would be a creation of disk image after a clean windows reinstalation, so any time, if my system fails, i can get the drive and restore my system to a fresh start with everything needed saved. As if nothing happend. This is a convinient way of reinstaling windows, so you dont have to worry about reinstaling programs, software, drivers, etc. But! there are some dificulties with all these plans. The disk image cannot be backed up on a usb, i have no idea why, although in a lot of tutorials there is a way to back up on a usb. it didnt work for me. therefore i could have used an external program, but all of them are rubish considering you need to pay or they need to be installed at all times, etc. So the main questions are: 1) Is there a way to completely copy your pc? so that in case your system dies or malfunctions, you can reboot and restore your pc to its original state with clean windows, all your personal files, drivers, software etc, considering that your copy is in perfect condition 2) Using a old software "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)" in the control panel, you can create a disk image. However, some tutorials show that it can be created on a usb with enough capacity using NTFS format. but it didnt work for me, it only shows that "cannot back up to this external drive" (there was enough capacity on a usb, and it was formated in NTFS, but no luck) is there a way? 3) If a usb doesnt work, i have an external 2TB hard drive, but i have 300GB of files there, will it be a good idea to back up there? will the disk be formated? 4) If the only way to create a system image is through a hard drive can i save 2 system images? one from my laptop, and one from my pc? If there are alternatives to reinstaling clean windows with drivers, files, softwares, tools etc, please let me know, all that i found was this information. Thank you very much for your patience, i appretiate your help.

Made a restore point before installing software I didn't know if I needed. Turns out I didn't need it, and just used the restore point from before bc bundleware was a concern. Well the restore failed citing that I didn't have enough storage space (I had a little over 80GB free on my C drive.) I just went and ran the uninstaller on the program and the awful VPN program it bundled in. And then went to windows explorer. And I have just 164 megabytes of storage left. WinDirStat isn't reporting anything different. (Although WinDirStat has kinda just stopped being useful for my C drive because it can't detect windows store apps.) And I can't tell what happened. Did system restore fill up that space and then not clear it when it failed? What can I do to get the storage space back? (I have already cleared 5.5GB out of %Temp% but then that space was almost immediately filled back in by something). Additionally, the only things I have installed on this computer in the last 24 hours was the tomb raider games that are free on EGS rn but those were installed to my E: drive, and this program that I didn't end up needing.

Hello! So I was tryna get some neat icon packs for my pc last night and installed 7tsp and another icon pack which came with its installer. It was all going fine and I wanted to use a mixture of both the pack (stupid move) so I installed the ones in the other installer and then the ones in 7tsp (two packs in 7Tsp actually. One for folders and another for system icons if I remember it right). And 7tsp asked me to restart my pc and boom it begins. My PC boots up and is just stuck in a loading screen loop right before the lockscreen as shown in the video. I tried Ctrl+Alt+Del and it briefly shows my lockscreen wallpaper before going back to the loading screen loop. (A side note: just before I restarted my pc I tried to open "This PC" and it was just a blank white window. Seemed like file manager crashed. But I restarted anyway.) Now I tried to go and recover my previous save point via Windows UEFI mode and something worse happens. WINDOWS WON'T LET ME IN! It keeps saying that the password I enter for my account in order to perform System recovery is wrong! I even changed my password and tried again (with different keyboard layouts as well) just to see it repeat! VID_20210814_204915.mp4 Now I'm STUCK. I can't enter my pc neither can I restore it to a previous version! Someone PLEASE help!! Hi everyone, I've been looking around for a really good free backup software for my personal Windows 10 PC. My needs are: 1) Should support full system images and incremental backups. 2) Exclude files/folders from system image backup (I have many games across multiple drives so I want to exclude these folders). 3) Ability to backup to a mapped network drive. 4) Ability to mount backups and access files or access them directly. 5) (Not necessary, but would be nice) ability to convert into a virtual machine format. I appreciate any help!

So I was in advanced startup troubleshoot options. While I was trying to find the UEFI firmware settings I clicked on system restore. Now whenever I switch on the pc it shows system restore. Is there a way to cancel it? I do not want to reinstall everything.

So I think I messed up a file on my computer some time down the line. My adobe programs wouldnt open up anymore saying missing dll msvcp120.dll and i tried reinstalling quicktime but it kept saying something about my driver so I decided to do a system restore to when it was working properly and now it wont let me do a system restore saying "the drive cannot be found" not quite sure what to do. any suggestions? I tried reinstalling visual studio a couple of times still saying the same thing about a missing driver.

AI Suite is horrible do not download it. It can't be uninstalled automatically. The cleaner program didn't work for me. I spent an entire day of my life trying to figure out what was wrong with my PC freezing, crashing, mouse smearing over windows, games artifacting like crazy. Thought one of my video cards was going bad or my CPU or RAM. Spent a almost a whole day of my life swapping video cards to see if one of my video cards was bad or a bad PCI E slot. Turns out a system restore to before I installed this garbage software fixed it. How could ASUS release a piece of crap like that? That alone makes me want to look somewhere else on my next MOBO purchase.

Hello, I am having a problem with my windows 10 install. After the last update Windows was constantly in recovery mode which didn't work, so I use the iso to try and go back to the previous build, but that says it encountered a problem and wants me to reset the pc, but that says no system restore file. Is there any way I can get windows working again without deleting my Autodesk files that I have already used the 2 installs for? Thanks

I have tried to get this working by disabling the security program and holding shift restart to go into the menu and doing system restart that way but it won't work any ideas on how to get this working ?

Hi, I would just like to say thank you in advance for any responses, as this has caused me a great deal of problems. So onto the problem. I just recently built a new PC, and it was working fine for the most part up until now. I went to shut down the computer, but it showed that there was an update for Windows (I am running Windows 8.1 64bit). I began the update, and left it on overnight. The next morning, it notified me that the update had not been applied and there had been an error of some sort. I tried to boot back into my desktop, but nothing worked, as it kept trying to fix the issue, to no success. After trying several things, upon booting up it now says "Preparing automatic repair". After attempting an automatic repair it leads to a blue screen that says "Your PC did not start correctly". No matter what I do, it seems to be stuck in a repeating cycle of this. I have attempted to do a system restore, but no attempted were successful, with the latest attempt giving me the error message "An unspecified error occurred during System Restore (0x80070002)" . I am not sure what to do at this point. Here are the specs: Asus Strix X-370 motherboard MSI GTX 1050 Ti 4GB OC Graphics Card AMD Ryzen 5 1600x CPU Cryorig H7 Cooler Corsair Vengeance 16 GB RAM Corsair 650W ATX12V Modular Power Supply Windows 8.1 64bit Again, thank you in advance for any responses.

So my pc has run into some issues and I lost the ability to boot into my computer, so I used my windows 10 usb to reinstall a fresh copy onto my ssd so that I could system image restore my old configuration. I went into settings and then restarted from the recovery advanced startup. From there I went to system image and then it says "to restore this computer, windows needs to format the drive that the windows recovery environment is currently running on. To continue with the restore, shut down this computer and boot if from a windows installation disc or a system repair disc and then try the restore again" so then I boot from my windows installation usb and then I get error 0x80042302. I read online and it says that it has to do with the Volume Shadow Copy service and the Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider, so I went into the services.msc and made both them automatic and I started them. This didnt do anything to fix the issue, so then I ran sfc /scannow and that didnt do anything either. Lastly, I tried running Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and none of these did anything either. I have searched everywhere for a solution and cant seem to find it. I ran all cmd prompts as an admin and I have three drives in my pc, two 3tb hard drives and one ssd and an additional 4tb hard drive backup drive with my system image. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Computer has been down now for two days and really struggling. Thanks in advance!

I got a new computer, so I copied all files I need from my Laptop to the new computer. After that I wanted to restore the laptop so it would be like new without any of my stuff on it. I started a system restore, and when it started restoring, I decided that it's probably better if I delete the files myself. I stopped the restore, but now Windows doesn't work it says that I have to insert the Windows disk which I don't have. What do I do?? It had a Windows 7

I'm trying to find out the most efficient way of backing up my two 120gb SSD's and one 500gb HDD. I have a 2tb WD Green that is sitting with 1.3TB free and it just hit me I don't have my drives backed up anywhere. Is using Windows system restore points the best way? If not, please let me know. I also plan on buying a separate hard drive for backing up everything on my computer as well. Thanks!

I recently bought and installed a new Samsung 850 Evo SSD. Everything was running amazingly well until I downloaded Samsung Magician to optimize the SSD. My system will now longer shut down and there is no way to reverse the optimization. Also, for whatever reason System Restore was turned off so I don't have anything to go back to. I contacted Samsung and they told me to just do a secure erase which I really don't want to do. I asked them if I had any other options and they were just not interested. When I power down my system the message comes up for my system shutting down then my monitors go to sleep, but all the fans and HDD's are still running. Now the only option I have is to hold down the power button which I fear is doing damage to my system. I'm running Windows 10 (64-bit). Is there anything I can try to fix this issue or will I have to do a secure erase? What about resetting Windows to factory settings and keeping my data? Thanks!

So recently the newest Nvidia Drive hast been released to the masses. Nvidia Driver version 358.87. After installation was completed an error code popped up with something system/WOW87/ or something, I don't remember the location at all. So first reaction to me was, Turn off PC then turn it back on. Windows Command prompt popped up during the turn on and the installation. During the turn on it said something file missing. it said nothing whilst installation. So After that i did my daily runs of the internet. And this is where I start to see problems like there was no tomorrow. List of issues I have noticed after driver installation: Attempting to go back a page in ANY browser will force me to go to the current page I was last at. Saving Pictures to folders, I now need to selected the folder of where it should be saved instead of already being in the folder and saving it there. Attempting to change wallpapers, I have to go to theme settings (sometimes it doesn't even work) to change the background. When attempting to find system restore it won't located it in the search bar. meaning I can't type in the search bar if my browser is already up (even when minimized). (just now) when switching between browser (for example) to geforce experience, I select it but will immediately minimize it again (this only happens when my cursor goes to the far left, off the screen). When Attempting to shut off computer it won't allow me. Only way to do so is it use Ctrl+Alt+Del. and power off from there. I may see more issues as they arise but this is my first impressions of something going horribly wrong and possibly update the issues in the future. This is what I discovered within the last few hours of installing the new driver. Note: i can't go back to a previous version due to me being an idiot and not setting up system restore features. Websites i use to download pictures are in the safe category of saving from them. I do not know if this is from the Nvidia driver or something decided to break today, when it's in my Routine (this may come back to haunt me). My current spec system: FX-6200 Black edition. Random cooler from HP. Random MOBO from HP/Gigabyte (dose not state what it is). Nvidia GTX 960 from E.V.G.A. 10GB of DDR3 Ram @1600MHz. Windows 10. Please if anyone knows how to fix this or have similar problems, please post. I genuinely don't know what is going on here with my PC. All I know for a fact that these issues didn't arise before today. And as usual, please tell me if I put this in the right spot in the forums.

I tried updating some drivers, restarted, and now when I log in to windows (if I'm lucky enough to have the keyboard and mouse work) explorer.exe doesn't run, nothing shows up, and I literally can't do anything not even ctrl+alt+delete. when I try to run System Restore - whether it be from Safe Mode or at startup - the restore points I really need can't be used. Preface: I recently re-installed windows about a month ago while installing a new Samsung 850 Evo SSD. I like to keep my system optimized and clean using some trusted, automated tools that include registry cleaners. I also have similar tools that notify me of any updated drivers, which I used to update the drivers. All windows updates are installed Bios seems to be updated Specs and Versions: LTT Build Page PC Part Picker Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Service Pack 1 CurrentBuildNumber 7601 System summary: The problem: I literally can't use my computer, I can't solve the problem on my own, troubleshooting for about 3 hours hasn't helped. The Errors: When I try and run System Restore on the desired restore points before windows starts I get the following error: "rstrui.exe the instruction at 0xfbf7584d referenced memory at 0x000000008 the memory could not be read" When I try and run System Restore on the desired restore points in Safe Mode I get the following error: "System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed. The data is invalid. (0x8007000D)" What I've already tried using Safe Mode: I've run 'sfc /scannow' I've cleaned the registry I've run anti-virus and anti-malware I've run memory diagnostics I've tried multiple restore points (which some worked, but they were after the issue was triggered) I'm sure I tried other things that I can't think of right now. I'm going to run disk check, but I haven't done that yet. I'll try to respond to any questions as soon as I can, but I'm going to bed soon. Treat me like a human being and this whole process will happen a lot smoother/quicker. Thank you for your time and effort in advance. "Fk, I'm tired..."

Ive been stuck and no youtube tutorials or google tutorials have helped me so far. THE PROBLEM: Windows won't start on my samsung evo 240gb SSD, which i use frequently. I went to my 1tb hard drive earlier today and was using it for a while too. I decided to restart my computer because I wanted to go back onto the SSD, Like I usually would, on a regular day, no problems, I have been doing this for the past 8 months. I went away for about 15 minutes and I came back to a turned off monitor. I then proceed to push the power button on my pc until it turns off. Just as it does that, I must've bumped my mouse at the last second because I saw a flash of "windows is installing updates" on the monitor. I thought nothing bad could have happened, but now, every time I try to boot to my SSD It goes past a screen of "disk checking" and safe mode options, and i get a Black Screen with a cursor in the middle. Disk checking leads to --> A black screen with the cursor in the middle. Clicking safe mode or safe mode with command prompt or networking leads to ---> a whole bunch of text rapidly ascending on the screen until it comes to a stop as says "Please wait". I waited 10 minutes and nothing happened so I rebooted again. The computer loads into my Hard Drive fine, but not to my SSD. Im not sure whether windows was configuring updates when I turned it off in Hard Drive mode, Or whether updates were happening just before booting to the SSD. My motherboard is an Asus B-85 Pro Gamer. Also, booting to the Hard Drive now takes an extra 5 seconds to do so weird. On the Black screen, nothing works, no matter what key I press. No sticky keys, no ctrl alt delete, no alt f4, nothing.Any help of how I can boot normally back to my SSD would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.
