I have a new build I am working on collecting all the parts for currently. It has a Ryzen 5 3600x and 16 gig of 3000mhz memory I have been looking at the RX 5700 XT because the price to performance is pretty good for that price range. However I am hoping to have this system for a while without having to change it up to much ( more ram would be first then maybe upgrading the cpu in a couple years). My main question is: Should I get the 5700 XT or wait a few months and get one of the RXT cards? What are the pros and cons of both in terms of price to performance and software? EDIT: I will probably only have the GPU for around 3 years

Hello Peeps, What would be a recommended configuration for someone looking to build a desktop for game design, to use the latest game design engines? Preferably a configuration that is as future proof as possible. There is no ceiling to the budget. Some other softwares to be used in general: Adobe Photoshop Blender Similar rendering software, possibly Maya etc and VR Compatible Games. (Will I need any additional hardware for this?) I am assuming the configuration will allow me to play most AAA titles on Ultra, should I add any additional hardware for these? Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, So I'm relatively new to system building and was wondering if anyone would be able to have a look at this build I created. It's currently at $1868.99 and I'd like to keep it at this price or less. If anyone would be able to suggest any changes to improve it or do the same job but cheaper that would be greatly appreciated. (From Australia, btw). Hi everyone My i5 3570k is gone and i need to replace it x) i will buy a r5 1600 but i would like your opinions about the best motherboard / ram combo for this cpu, my usage will be mainly gaming i already have everything else it will be paired with a gtx 980ti gaming g1 from gigabyte and i got a corsair ax 750 watts gold, my color scheme is black / white but it is absolutely not a priority to respect it (i value more performance and feature) i would like to spend around 500 euros for the three parts but i can go up to 650 euros if necessary and 700 exceptionally but keeping it around 500 would be great i will buy from one of this 3 shops : materiel.net, ldlc and maybe amazon.fr but i would prefer not from my personal digging i found interesting : for b350 boards : gigabyte ab350 gaming 3 / asus rog b350 strix (my favorite so far) for x370 : asus x370 prime pro but i find the aesthetic a little cheap I am looking for a board that can handle 3.9 / 4 ghz oc constant, great audio and good ram compatatibility Thanks for reading my post

Hi, I hope someone can help me decide which components I should get and if i should go with AMD or Intel. PC will be used mostly for gaming, multimedia and also light work. I'm planning on using this pc for about 5 - 6 years. Is there a big difference between 3200 cl 14 and 3200 cl 16 and 3600 cl16 and cl 17 or cl 18 ram? I won't be overclocking RAM only use XMP. Budget around 1000 - 1100 €. GPU will be upgraded in a few months to go from 1080p gaming to 1440p. Current GPU sapphire nitro+ RX 580. I will use my old case Akasa Venom Strike for the new build. Important motherboard features: good audio(or should I buy a sound card?), bios flashback and clear cmos button, fan stop when temperatures allow it or no fan at all, high quality VRM for longevity, great connectivity like 6x 3.2 USB, at least 6x sata ports and 2-3x m.2 slots, POST code display... I'm not planning to overclock the CPU. And will GPUs need more than PCIE 3.0 x16 in 2- 3 years so that PCIE 4.0 will become more common? So the first build I have is this: CPU: Ryzen 3700x 329 € RAM 32 GB: here I could get (g. skill trident Z F4-3600C17D-32GTZ 153 €, NEO F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC for 188 €(now 236€)), (g. skill trident Z F4-3200C16D-32GTZ 137 € or g skill tri Z RGB F4-3200C16Q-32GTZR(200 €) and a few others up to 180 €), there were also F4-3600C16D-32GVKC ripjaws for 150 € and trident z rgb F4-3600C16D-32GTZRC for 181 € but they are out of stock now and I don't know when they will be back. 32gb 3200Mhz c14 ram costs around 300 - 400 €. There are a few games where I have to close browser tabs and use rammap before launching a game(mostly for cities skylines) so it would be nice to have a little headroom left. Motherboard: choosing between X570 aorus pro (268 €), ultra (304 €), master(396 €) and asus E gaming (291 €). PSU: RM750x (117€). CPU: cooler scythe mugen 5 for 49 € Or to avoid the PCH fan altogether should I go with the Second build: CPU: i9 9900k (528 €) RAM: 32gb 3200 mhz cl16 or 3600 cl 17 for around (150 €) or do I need 3200mhz cl14 or 3600mhz cl16 also for Intel? Motheboard: gigabyte aorus pro 191 € PSU: RM750x (117 €) CPU: Cooler scythe mugen 5 (49€) The second build has a more expensive CPU but no PCH fan and a cheaper motherboard and no PCIe 4.0.

What do you guys think of 2 gamers, 1 cpu 2018 edition? I would like to build a computer for me and my older brother to play some casual games at 1080p 144hz, nothing too crazy, we don't even mind turning some settings down for better performance.. I want to build system like this mainly because of space and it is probably a little bit cheaper than building two of similar spec systems.. What you think about ryzen for virtualization? I went with amd graphic cards because of better stability. I want your recommendations, could this work? Thanks. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/zavisni/saved/BLkfHx PS: This black prices are in €, so whole system (without two monitors) is ~$1800

i am planning a pair of new system builds... my goal is to not be required to upgrade for 10 years and be able to play whatever i throw at it ... heres what i am looking at 16 core 32 thread treadripper 32 gb ram 1 tb nvme ssd now i am trying to decide between the gtx 1080ti or the rtx 2080 since it was just announced i know its the first gen of the rtx tech but do you think the gtx 1080ti will have another 10 years in it before it needs to be upgraded to play games ( even at low quality) i understand the system will be a bit of overkill for the standards of today but do you think i will get 10 years out of it without too many major upgrades ?

I just got a Oculus Rift for $349 for the Black Friday sale and i realized just how inadequate my system was to run it lol. My specs are a i7 4790k oced to 4.5GHz, Corsair H100i V1, 16gb ram, Zotac AMP! Extreme GTX 970 Oced to 1535MHZ, Thermaltake 750 watt PSU, 850 evo 256gb SSD and a 1tb HDD. This has been good enuf for the past few years but not with VR. My CPU is running at around 80% or more and ive seen a few videos on using a 4790k with a 970,980 ti and 1080ti and all hit the same fps barrier at the same spot. So my 970 would prob even do better with a upgraded CPU but not much at all. I want to get a 1080ti or 2 or maybe even wait for Volta. I just am wondering what would be the best cpu for VR i don't think a 7700k would be enuf and im not sure something like a high core count cpu would do in VR since i cant really find a single video anywhere with CPU testing on VR. Odd since it seems to be a limiting factor.

I know everyone hates on using a tv as a monitor but hear me out: So this summer I ditched my old silverstone case (cant even remember what model). Lets just say it was hidious. The case im using now is quite unique, a 10mm tempered glass top display coffee table that I custom built myself. Inspired by Linus's desk pc videos I built the table and for the time being I stuffed my old setup inside. I7 4790, gtx 1060 6gb, a pcmate z97 mobo etc. My question is what should go inside? I definitely want to do some overclocking, definitely like to game and I do a bit of rendering on c4d and after effects and would like to have the option to possibly run zbrush or similar software but keep the fps in gaming reasonable also. I will be upgrading my 1080p tv to a 4k 60-70inch tv soon. Linus if by chance you end up reading this, i challenge you to make a coffee table pc!!! Dakota Kamloops BC

Hey All! I'm an Architect who does complex modelling on Rhino and grasshopper and often render on vray. I already have a build with the following spec. Processor: Ryzen 9 3950x Ram: gskill tridentz Neo 3600 CL16 32 GB Motherboard: MSI creation x570 Graphics: MSI trio 2080 Ti I was wondering if anyone has been able to use quadro and geforce cards on the same machine. Since quadro is better in viewport performance when working with complex models. I would like to fit in one. And then use my 2080 Ti for rendering and gaming. Is this even possible? Secondly how will this work? Say if I need to game will I have to switch my video output from quadro to 2080ti everytime?

I'm putting together a future and gradual upgrade plan for my PC. I was hoping to get constructive opinions on the list. If you could explain your reason for a part change, that would be appreciated. Parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/NpnBLD Note: the only reason I have an old WD green HDD is because I'm currently using one for my current PC. I would need it for the data migration, so why not use it as a backup was my logic My current in case it has better parts or what not: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/WNWshq

Hi, I am in the process of choosing the parts for my PC and am looking for recommendations. These are the parts that I have in possession and will need to use them: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/jGXCd6 Would you please recommend what you would do in this situation with a budget of $700 AUD. This system will primeraly be used for gaming and I will be playing Rust, Elder Scrolls Online, Skyrim, Counter Strike Global Offensive and Cities Skylines. If possible I would like to play these games at 1080p and as close to 60 FPS as possible. Thanks, naths4

Hello there! Recently I've been bitten by the upgrade bug and am now set on changing my modest system. Currently I have an i5 4690k at stock, stock cooler, a gtx 960 ftw 4gb, 4x4GB kingston hyper x fury ram, a msi z97 sli krait edition board, a 240gb ssd, a 250gb hdd and a 600gb 2.5inch hdd. The idea is that I'm making a mini itx build move. I have chosen the SilverStone SG13 because it can fit my atx semi modular power supply and because of it's price, I need to change my mobo. I am planning on getting a AsRock h97m-itx/ac because it has the ability to support a wifi card with antennas. It supports PCIe 3.0, 16gb RAM with two dimms and has the exact same I/O as my old one. I can live with 2x4GB of RAM as I only really play games and redner 1080p videos which are fine to work with. Here is my dilema: I am very unsure about my combination and would like advice, tips and support if you would be so kind. I have only ever built 1 PC and it went okay (it even posted first time!). The form factor kinda scares me but I think I can pull it off with paticence. Are all my parts okay? I will be ditching the 3.5 HDD and the case supports 1 ssd mount on the bottom where my SSD will go. Can anyone tell me if I need to change anything or if my parts wont work, many thanks.

Hello, This is my first time building a PC so I've done a fair amount of research in to various parts and with the release of the R9 480 I'm finally pulling the trigger, so to speak. Below is a link to a PCPartpicker list for what i have planned. I'm planning on the intel i5-6500 CPU so overclocking won't be a thing, as a result z170 motherboards, and their increased price, are in my opinion unnecessary. As a result I'm left with a choice of H170 or other motherboards. Understanding the chipsets has been a nightmare..... Anyway I've listed below four motherboards that are around my price range, I'm leaning towards full ATX boards, although micro-ATX would be a decent budget comprimise. Asthetics are a bit of an issue, as I do not want a complete color clash, ie red case blue mobo. PCPartpicker build link: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/8hR6XH MOBO1:https://pcpartpicker.com/product/3L2rxr/gigabyte-motherboard-gah170d3hp MOBO2:https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DL2rxr/asrock-motherboard-h170pro4 MOBO3:https://pcpartpicker.com/product/G9Gj4D/asrock-motherboard-fatal1tyh170performance MOBO4:http://pcpartpicker.com/product/nx648d/msi-motherboard-h170apcmate From what I have seen the first gigabyte option is a good choice, it has decent asthetics, sound quality, and apparently a little eye candy, although I can't actually find any pictures of this. The fourth option is a bit nicer on the wallet but I've seen some bad customer reviews (which can't always be trusted). Anyway deciphering what's really important is hard, PCI, PCIe, networking cards has become confusing. Also apparently a few of the boards are actually shorter on one side, although I do not know what this means in terms of the build itself.

Hey folks, its my first post please be gentle I currently have 2 Intel Xeon E5-2608LV3 2.00GHz CPU's. I'm not an expert by any means and I was wondering if it was worth my time and money to build a system around these CPU's. My needs are fairly basic I currently run a simple home server for shares/storage and Plex. However I have recently gotten in to experimenting with Virtual machines and these CPU's do support virtual set-ups. I am currently running a Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8300 @ 2.50GHz socket 775 4 gigs or ram, somewhat dated I know so again I ask should I take the dive and build something up? or just hold off and get a i7 CPU down the road... Also it would be great if anyone could suggest a motherboard as well, I'm open minded, either dual CPU or single. Cheers

So I am planning on building my first gaming rig, it has a fatal1ty z87 killer, i5-4690, 2*4gb cl9 ram, a sharkoon t9 value case, a 250gb ssd, 1tb hard drive, and a scythe mugen 4 CPU cooler. Lastly a 970 strix. I plan to play RTS games (demanding ones) and rpgs. As well as a fps every now and then. Will it be able to do it on a g-sync 4k monitor? Thanks in advance.
