Problem: Need to share either set of keyboard/mice from one system or the other over network (no wires allowed), mostly doing it for productivity reasons while I do school work. Solution: Found a program that did this but was kinda shocked at the price for the product, it was called "sharemouse" I recalled a LTT video talking about a similar software years back (it might have been called synergy) but I have failed to figure out exactly which one it was, I believe Luke/Taran was pretty fond of using it at one point. What I am looking for: Is there a cheaper/free version of this type of software or at least if I am paying 50$+ maybe more worth while to go with something like synergy that has more functionality for the same price as sharemouse? suggestions welcome thanks!

I've setup my Razer Blade 14 2014 to be the server and my client being my Lenovo Yoga 11". Every time I try to move the cursor from my server to the client it gets stuck on the lower right hand corner over the show/peek desktop button, and when I move the cursor using the track pad on the client laptop it moves, but then when I try using the track pad or mouse from the server laptop it doesn't, but I can use the right and left clicks and even the keyboard. I tried to follow the instructions that had me disable display scaling on high DPI settings on the client machine and restarting but that didn't work. However when the server was my desktop PC I was able to move the cursor no problem, across my Razer Blade and Lenovo Yoga. I thought it was because my desktop monitor was a 1920x1080 resolution monitor and my Razer laptop was a 3200x1800, and my Lenovo is a 1366x768 resolution laptop so I reduced the screen resolution on my laptop and tried it but that didn't work either. Can anyone help me?

Soooo... This is my first time popping my LTT Forum Cherry and I didn't know whether this is the relevant place for this post but here goes. After watching another Linus video with Synergy sponsoring, I decided to invest (with the 50% offer) and have been happy with how seamless it works. However, I've had issues transferring files using the drag and drop function. After some serious google-ing I discovered many people had this issue... but that's it, nobody reporting any solutions. I have run both client and server as Administrator. Turned off firewall Ensured the drag and drop function was active Made sure the programs were both the same version Tried switching client and server computers Nothing. In terms of the log, I didn't get much from it When using my Windows 10 Laptop (HP Pavilion x360) as Server and a Surface Pro 3 as the Client I get nothing on server log but on client log I get "Error: Drag target empty" When using the other way round I get nothing on either side. Any tips? Thanks ---- Alan

So because of the 50% off - promo that came with the 8k dell monitor video, I enthusiastically bought 2 licences of Synergy, thinking that it might not be this bad. Well unfortunately it is. The Drag-and-drop feature which was one of my biggest incentives to buy that sucker hasn't been working properly for years if you do a quick google search. That's why I thought I'll give it back and request a refund. Now here comes the big deal. There's no contact form or any other e-mail address on Symless' site anywhere at all. It feels like Ive been scammed and Im thinking of pulling back my money via Paypal. Since Symless seems to be located in the UK it is even covered by EU laws. Did anyone ever have a similar experience?

So I was wondering if there's anyone who know or believe that an AMD FX-Series 9370 4,4GHz processor would work well with a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ ATX Motherboard? Or do I need to get a motherboard aswell? Because I'm running an MSI R9 390 aswell, I just want it to be able to handle everything without bottlenecking the graphics and also, hopefully be able to do it on a tight budget, hence the processor and this post. If I have to swap both the motherboard and processor, I will, but preferly I'd like to upgrade just the processor.

I was about to use the linus21 code to get a synergy license for 50% off when I noticed that they had recently changed their licensing model. It used to be that you would get a lifetime access to the software, implying that all updates and patches would be free. However now it explicitly mentions that you are going to ONLY get lifetime access to Synergy version 1. And they are charging $5 for beta access to version 2. This is an unhealthy software development practice. Coupled with the previous complaints of bad customer support, I would have to warn others from purchasing this software. It has been said since it is open source you can compile it for free. I don't know if its true, but i don't recommend giving them any more money. Use teamviewer, VNC or even remote desktop which are free for personal use.

So i tried to find a fix online but it seems that there are a lot of people that cant get the copy paste function to work. And it seems to be a problem that exists since at least 2007. Can anyone here help me? And should linus still advertise for this if synergy cant fix this and becomes rather useless except for the mouse and keyboard sharing?

First things first, I've been using Synergy for a long-ass time. Before the fancy website. Before the payments. Before the ads on LTT. Before anything. When they switched from FOSS to a paid model, I was sad to not be able to keep using it in the way I was used to. But, after picking it up in a humble bundle, I was happy to resume my pleasant practices. At some point, I got an e-mail with an offer to upgrade to the PRO level for a reduced cost. I was promised more premium support and SSL encryption of my connections. (How is this a feature you have to pay extra for? That is kind of shady.) Regardless, I caved to the pricing, and ordered Synergy Pro. Paid the amount due with my payment method of choice, and saw the invoice appear in the web interface for managing your account. What didn't show up was the licence key. My account remained on Synergy Basic. Annoyed, I sent a message to their "service@symless.com" service desk. After waiting THREE DAYS (Premium support right there), I was asked which e-mail account I had used for my account, and proceeded to provide the details. TWO WEEKS LATER! I receive an e-mail (clearly sent out in bulk) reading this: Baffled, I navigated to the Synergy Help page, looking for a self-service portal, or a location where I can enter my billing issues for review. Surely, if there is an issue with sales and billing, that's not the problem of the service desk. The help page reads this: So, after almost three weeks, I am told to look at my account page, where all of this started. For anyone considering the software, know that no support will be given, even if you paid and didn't receive the software.

Hi, all! I recently bought the Synergy Pro software and downloaded on both my desktop + laptop. currently using wifi for synergy on the google, they said that using ethernet would solve the laggy-ness of synergy using wifi to remotely move the 'client'/laptop's cursor. my set up is that modem/router connects to the desktop via ethernet to the only ethernet plug. When I tried to add a (USB-to-ethernet) to the desktop side and plug the wire into the laptop, the desktop stops receiving the ethernet ups from the modem Do I need to buy a switch or a hub to be able to use synergy seamlessly without losing Ethernet signal from my desktop? any help is appreciated!

Hey folks, I run Synergy on a few laptops and my main desktop computer. I have my main desktop as the server and my laptops as the clients. My main desktop has 3 monitors in a panoramic configuration and what I have struggled with in Synergy is that when I place a laptop directly underneath my desktop, I cannot enter the laptop's window from my center monitor, only the left one. The orientation of the device is correct, If I try to exit the main desktop window from the bottom of my leftmost screen, then the cursor will appear at the top of my client screen. This is my config: Now here is where things get funky. When my cursor is on my client PC, and I try to move to my desktop. The cursor CLEARLY works fine as mousing in the center of my client screen puts me on my CENTER monitor, and mousing left puts me on my LEFT monitor and so forth. So synergy clearly is working correctly, but only in one direction. Has anyone had an issue like this? Or should I just open a support ticket with symless?

I’m sure if you have watched a few videos from LMG you have heard of synergy. One mouse one keyboard multiple machines. My idea is this, using one keyboard and mouse on two differently specd computers in unison. Same monitors, resolution, and any settings that can be the same. Would running the same game at the same time, with one set of inputs, become unsynced eg. wile playing and focusing on one screen the other screen looks like some nub figuring out the controls or just walking into a wall.

I've never posted before but thought this might be a good idea for a video (well maybe). We all love the mx master but logitech just released the mx master 2s which allows some cross platform capability including dragging files from system to system. I know synergy is one of the sponsors so maybe that is a roadblock but since the mx master 2s might get its own video anyways, LTT should do a comparison between the logitech soultion and synergy. Maybe there is something cool that could happen when using both in conjunction, who knows. Not sure how this works but make sure someone at LTT sees this even if it takes someone with popularity on these forums stealing this topic. Go at it. https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/mx-master-2s-flow?crid=7

Hi, When I saw that synergy was 50% off for LinusTechTips viewers I was really eager to get it. One problem though, I didn't had any of the supported payment methods (apparently paypal also required a card). So I contacted support, and said that I could pay directly to their paypal and I only had to send the payment details (transaction ID and such), so the person could manually make an account. I did this, as the email was of their site and we contacted through the site as well. But I haven't heard anything from synergy so far. No payment conformation, no new account details. I've send a good number of mails to the email that responded to me and to the support on the website. I heard nothing back. I got the first response 8 days ago and I'm hopeless now. Is there something I can do? I do really want the software though.

Hi all. I was wanting to know if I could disable the scroll lock on synergy and not have any hotkeys? I want to just be able to move my mouse from one screen to the other with out pressing a key. I wouldn't mind hitting scroll lock but it controls my RGB leds on the keyboard.

Hello all! So here's what I need to do. I only have one desk here. This single desk has two monitors on it. It's my gaming/streaming setup, with a Windows PC. Then, I also have a Mac Pro that I will use for music stuff. I intend on using the same keyboard and mouse, and the same two monitors for both machines. This part is sorted, since both monitors have more than one input, I just need to switch when using either machine, and install Synergy on both, right? BUT I use an M-Audio M-Track 2X2 connected to the PC via USB, and that's where all my PC audio sources go through to get to my headphones. So now I need a way to get the Mac to also send audio through the same mixer. It has two channels, and since only the first one is being used by my microphone, I could use the second channel to bring audio from the Mac in... But I don't think it'll be great to use the internal mac audio for Pro Tools and such. Do I need a new interface to do this? And then to prevent having to unplug the headphones from one interface to the other, I could run an output from the one hooked up to the mac, into this one? HELP.

Hey Everyone, I saw quite a lot of good things about Synergy on multiple videos. Based on that I directly paid for the Pro version when I got a MAC today and needed to share same Mouse + Keyboard from my Windows 10. However, I got a very bad experience after trying both 1.xx and 2.xx version. It just doesn't work, not even a little bit. Tried to follow official/unofficial guides, articles and videos but none helped at all. I have sent them an email regarding immediate fix/solution or, full refund. However, the free version Share Mouse from Bartels Media GmbH working perfectly for me so far. N.B. The purpose of this post is to make people aware of the mountain of bugs that Synergy got right now which made it unusable and also to suggest that we should not be buying everything blindly that we see on videos Thanks.

So the other day I got a call from my friend wanting a solution for multitasking between his 2 laptops. Being a nerd and a long time LTT viewer, I instantly responded with Synergy. it works really great and they're sponsoring LTT so I can get discount codes for him. This would have worked great but one of the laptops was from work so the Synergy application wouldn't install or be immediately blocked after installation. So the only thing left is hardware. Is there any hardware you would suggest and how to configure it. Thanks in advance ?

do you guys know about any discounts for synergy, just trying to save a few dollars?

I know, it seems complicated to undertand but I'll try to make it as clear and short as I can, so in first place, i wanna use my laptop as my secondary screen , but "surprisingly" when I managed to get all the screen sharing thing done with a synergy alternative called "Barrier" I realised that I couldn't share the any windows that I want to share to the other screen, this may sound logical to you, but if I say to you that windows screen share lets you do that, then things get worse, because you'll think, ok if that's the problem why you don't use windows screenshare?, I dont have wifi and bluetooth in my motherboard, so windows don't let my use this feature even if the two PC's are connected to the same wifi network, so I'm posting this hoping that anyone can reply with an alternative, I've done windows app sharing over wifi with different PC's before but was so long ago that I can't remember what program I used :( ,Thanks for reading to this part of the post and sorry for the extension I want to explain my problem as clear and detailled as possible, if you don't understand something feel free to ask me, also you can add me on discord for contact gamesmusic454#0676

New fan/addict, decided to take a shot here. I recently have acquired a late 2013 model iMac 27 inch for basically free. It has a fresh install of Windows 10 boot camped on it, i5 4570 quad-core @ 3.2GHz, 12 gigs of ram, and an Nvidia GT755M. I didn't really need it, but for the cost of pretty much gas money I would have been crazy to turn it down. What I'd like to do: Use the much better 2560 x 1440 display on the iMac to receive the video signal from my much better custom built gaming PC, for which I only have a 1920 x 1080 22 inch monitor. Is there anyway I can do this? Here's what I've tried so far: Using an HDMI to Mini Display Port adapter to connect my PC's video card into the Thunderbolt port on the iMac. Windows 10 in the iMac could not find the Thunderbolt port, with driver installs, restarts (because of boot camps hot plug limitations) and everything else I tried. OSX DID see the Thunderbolt connection but will only use Targeted Display Mode (receive video signals) on other iMacs. Not from my gaming PC. So as far as a physical connection between the two computers, it seems I'm out of luck. Streaming. After hours of Googling I decided to try to stream the signal from my PC to the iMac, with various results. Most programs I've tried (space desk, star dock multiplicity, remotr, miracast, remote desktop) were simply full of latency, and I know it's not my 100 megabit per second wired connection. So far the best result I've received is the Nvidia GameStream/Moonlight applications, but it will not allow me to use the full 1440p resolution of the iMac. Is there any other streaming program that would allow me to stream at 1440p with low latency? Would Synergy 2 do this? As in let me full-screen my PC's monitor on the iMac and not crap out when I run a game? Or is there any other way I may not know about? Thanks for any help in advance. Edit: Spelin'

To be honest I haven't tried it out yet, but I heard it's buggy. Mouse without borders worked like I wanted it to, but not in games. There, I just want to press a key I set up and switch my mouse and keyboard to the other device. MWB would either still input inside of my game, or have to minimize it, which makes using a second device useless. I could also, instead of using a second device, just use the screen, whatever is easier. But I don't want to play in borderless window, as it makes my games act weird and decreases performance.
