Hi, so I'm currently getting ready for a big move and a little short on time (Next week is the date) I was wondering if it's possible for me to put my PC in a suitcase, pad it with clothes and put a T-Shirt or two inside to keep everything inside safe, not much of a tech savy guy, also don't have access to any of that PC foam that typically is used.

Current Progress: Hello everyone, I'm beginning a new project build that will hopefully become my new LAN rig and I figured I should share it for inspiration and advice along the way. I've been increasingly wanting a mobile solution of sorts but I don't want to allocate the money for a gaming laptop for many reasons, namely lack of upgrade-ability and high cost for performance. Since I've got loads of old desktop hardware lying around, I figured I could make myself a decent briefcase PC for significantly less than an equivalent laptop. Is it the most practical or even cost-effective solution? Certainly not. Is it a badass solution? Certainly. Parts are as follows. They may not be the cutting edge, but they will get the job done the few times I need them. CPU: AMD FX 6100 GPU: Zotac 1050ti 4gb (Being modeled by an EVGA 750ti momentarily) Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P23 Memory: 8gb Generic Kingston 1600mhz ddr3 CPU Cooler: Ghetto rigged joint Thermaltake/Noctua cooler Power Supply: Some old itx 240w Storage: 240GB ADATA SSD (Yes, I can happily live with this low capacity) I will be using many ideas from the briefcase builds I've seen in the past and I plan to improve on their builds to fit my needs. I will be using some 1/4" board to mount all of the hardware excluding the intake fans in a test bench type fashion so that the entire system can be removed from the case for ease of use and rigid construction. I will also be re-purposing the lcd panel from an old laptop rather than using a fullsize monitor. I personally prefer lugging around a larger monitor for LANs anyway, so this will save me lots of money and weight of the final product while still allowing the system to function as an AIO when I need it to. I will also be adding i/o to the outside of the system to allow for peripheral connectivity and the use of up to two external displays. Finally, I do plan to completely seal off the compartments of the case excluding air intakes and apply some carbon fiber vinyl wrap on the top deck above the components for a quality look compared to many existing briefcase mods. I found a decent toolbox lying around in my garage and went to work planning a layout and mounting for the components. It's a bit messy on the inside as I had to tear out some foam inserts that were very well adhered to the case. Some sanding and wood paneling on the inside will fix that up. I managed to salvage my old thermaltake cooler by replacing the ungodly loud 75mm proprietary fan with a much nicer 80mm noctua one. And thanks to this bad boy, I will be able to easily affix a power socket to the outside of the case without much modding. It is quite a low wattage, but after 24 hours of sustained benchmarking I have concluded it will do nicely while taking up very little space. Here is where I plan to mount everything for now. It may look like there is plenty of open space but once all of the cabling and the top panel are done, I believe it is going to be a very tight fit. So that's all for now. All of the parts I will need excluding the monitor control board and gpu upgrade will be coming in within the week, so I expect updates to be decently swift. I'd appreciate criticisms, comments, and suggestions for the build as well as suggestions for the name of the rig.

hey guys I used to carry an 18-inch (included bezel) laptop and it's had not aged well. I'm currently looking to build a gaming desktop that fits in a hand carry suitcase as I will be traveling a bit for my job. The smaller the desktop, the better, I will be looking for a gaming monitor that also fit in the suitcase if possible and the max dimension is 19.5 inches. I have a keyboard and a mouse already. For the budget, I'm willing to go as high as £2300 and a tiny bit more if I have to. It CAN'T be water cool. I will be carrying through airport security. Thx guys. Edit, I will be going to Hong Kong soon and I know over there the parts can be a bit cheaper and would like to know all the best place to shop the parts.

Hi LTT Im looking for some advice on an upcomming build of mine. I want to build a desktop computer into a black plastic instrument case. The case im planing has room for a 22" monitor up top and enough room in the bottom to house an ATX psu, an mATX mobo and (with a riser) an ITX gtx 960 (which i already have). I have 2 main questions but feel free to poke holes in my plan otherwise, I'd much prefer this to fail on a forum before it fails irl and costs me a whole bunch of money 1. Will an ATX psu be electrically safe in a black plastic case? I plan of ventilating the space well and im not going to do any soldering on mains wires but ive got this notion that the motherboard and psu need to be grounded on metal? 2. I would love a mechanical hdd, I spend alot of time away from home for work and having my movie collection on tap (as well as my steam library) would make motels alot more enjoyable. While im using the pc it will be stationary but i will be driving it and carrying it around, just like a suitcase. Will a standard 3.5" hdd survive bumps and knocks (when off) that a suitcase would encounter? I'll just head off the alternatives to this at the pass. A ps vita / nintendo ds is under powered and a good laptop with a decent gpu is way too expensive at least (1600 AUD). I've costed this plan out to about 600 AUD by re using some stuff i already have. Im not worried about battery because I will always have a powerpoint when I want to game and i know it will be a brick but I only ever drive to my live-aways. Hello everyone here on LTT. I have decided to do a scratch build for making my desktop more portable than it is. I go to friends' houses a lot and play a lot of games over LAN, but every time I have to completely dismantle my setup on my desk and cram it all into a backpack of some sort, which is very heavy on my back. It usually takes me about a half hour to disassemble it and then another 20 just to figure out how to fit it all into my backpack. Therefore, I have decided it would be a great idea to put my computer into a suitcase.
