id like to put an extension in the wall to connect to my computer to the living room while its in my bedroom. my idea is to have enough USB ports for vr and also enough HDMI ports for it. i don't have a specific vr headset yet and am planning to buy one a little after new years. the living room is just on the other side of the wall so i was wondering if anyone knows if theirs a good female to female stranded for USB or a leingth limit for HDMI/USB. i heard that you can use ethernet and use a convirter but has anyone tried this and know if it would cause any lag? so far all i really know is i need 3 for a mouse/keyboard and an extra if i need to plug it in for whatever reason. and i know that current gen vr uses 2 HDMI ports but should i add a display port just in case for future use? also if possible id like a PC driven vr headset thats wireless would it change anything in terms of what i need for the usb port? ive also seen some newer graphics cards that use have and display with only one hdmi port. would some need a convirter? for eveyone that responds thank you! this is my first post so if i messed something up tell me.

Hi, Im looking for a new laptop cuz im going to university. I do video editing and stuff. I also play video games. im not realy looking for a laptop that that can run battlefield 5 at 90+ fps but atleast can run minecraft with shaders 100+ fps. i prefere also that it is easy to carry around. I dont realy have a budget but it would be nice if its under 2000 euros. (sorry if my english is bad)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): This post is less about getting a detailed build recommendation more about asking ideas to solve a particular problem. Since having my baby daughter, finding time to spend at my PC desk ]has been rough, and I would love to do more couch gaming. I would love some technology suggestions on how I can use the power of a new PC to have a great experience on my TV in my living room (a 4k Sony with google TV), and at my desk where I have a 1440P 144Hz monitor. Since I am planning to make a new build soon anyway, any solution would be worth considering. I assume some of the best might involve a particular model of motherboard. A couple of important details: My TV is in my living room at the ground floor of my house My gaming desk is in my attic, 2 stories higher than the living room.asd I have ethernet to my PC(7 year old gaming rig) and my TV already routed. Some options I aware of and how they way up to my needs: Steam link /Steam link app on the TV This is limited to 1080p on the TV and I find performance to be bad and unsatisfactory. If i try to play a game where reaction time is critical (like hand of fate 2) it just becomes a frustrating experience. Big advantage is that this is basically free Steam in house streaming to my old PC from new PC, move the old PC in the living room, or do the same with a steam deck (I am getting one of those as well) I have tried in house streaming at 1080p on a work laptop with no discrete GPU, it was mostly fine if i had the ethernet cable plugged in, not sure how that would hold up if i tried to stream a higher resolution. Also technically free, depends if i will reuse case and power supply of my old PC, I can't be sure of that because I am waiting for the 40 series of Nvidia cards to drop. Build the new PC in a portable form factor (small motherboard) so I can cary the PC downstairs and just plug in a couple of wires Has the potential to have very little compromise in terms of performance It will be more challenging to pick components if I choose this route, especially the motherboard and case/frame (open air might be cool too). Maybe the fine people on this forum can lend a hand but that would be a different post. It will be tricky to figure out a good way to make the process of plugging everything in as painless as possible, buuuut... I do have a 3d printer, so I might make myself a super custom bracket and plug everything in at once like a huge obscene dock. Have some sort of optical connection (Linus keeps mentioning it) from the PC (via thunderbolt I think?) from my attic where the PC is to my living room. I would have to trace cable from upstairs, but it might be doable with some effort and it won't look crap I don't know much about how to achieve this or even what terms to do a search on, some pointers on this would be nice if anyone is aware. This would give me the freedom to build the new PC in a very conventional way, all I would have to do is to make sure the CPU and motherboard support thunderbolt I think. I would love your suggestions on completely different solutions, pointing out obvious things I have failed to consider or at least mention, your own opinions on the above considerations of each solution.

alright so, i have been building computers and fixing them up for a long time. while when it comes to the people i help out and build computers for i am very much a by the book kinda guy. but when it comes to my own pc i tend to get a little dumb and make alot of mistakes. the one im bringing up now is that i have a set of gskill trident z ddr4 3200 16 kit. a while back i wanted get more memory and happened to have a rare amount of extra cash for me. and being the goober i am i went to best buy to pick up another set of that ram given that i knew they had it. unfortunately for me they were out and so i made the big brain choice of picking up a corsair vengeance pro 32 gig kit and just added it to my pc. it was also ddr4 3200 but now i have both sets of ram in my pc. i dont actually have any evidence that has impacted my computer negatively just a creeping suspicion given that i have had some weird errors and crashes i cant pin down. my question is more does it benefit enough to have the full 48 gigs of ram in there at the risk of potential problems that may or may not be there and is there problems that would come out of doing what i have done. on why i would need 48 gigs in the first place. im a film editor that regularly works with 4k and in after effects. sorry if this came off rambally or weird i honestly have never really done anything like posting in a forum before, any thoughts and suggestions would be helpful thank you.

Hi, I'm currently looking into buying a setup where pressing 1 button switches between 2 desktop computers and an easy accessible HDMI port, the thing is I'm looking into buying 3 27' 4K monitors and 1 wacom cintiq 27' Touch So what is it actually I need help with? I need a system where I can switch between 2 PC's by pressing 1 accessible button on each screen, same goes for the cintiq... (Switching by pressing a button once, not until it's at the correct port) I also want so that I can plug in something that runs an HDMI port without having to go behind screens Is this possible? And which 3 monitors do I need? And what other gadgets do I need to accomplish this? ?

Hey guys, quick question I'm currently searching for a gaming laptop (due to the fact that I travel a lot and already have PC). I have no idea about what kind of a laptop price to performance wise could be good for me. I was thinking to go get a laptop with something with a 1060 in it mainly for a bit of future proofing and also because my main games are BF1 and Rainbow Six Siege. Budget wise, I currently have no budget but I'd like to have a baseline of what laptop to buy. David Bowie build: History: I have always been a Bowie fan. I bought Space Oddity in sixth grade. My first Album. Saw him for the “Lets Dance Tour” in the 1980’s. Then when Vans came out with the David Bowie line of shoe I stood in line to by clothes for the only time in my life. I never wear the Vans out without somebody saying something or better buying me a drink. So, each of my builds so far has had a theme: 1. the first was “ I have no Money” 2. Anvil: Military surplus parts in a man-portable waterproof case with the best processor and top of the line motherboard. ( 70lbs build , with internal UPS , WF-Fi and LAN routers). I bent and painted the metal myself. 3. Colossus : Themaltake level 10 red LED only, Intel 6700K, Ausus Hero MB , 16MB RAM . Strix 1070, 5 @ drives (SSD) , @ DVD burners & 1@ 3 1.2 “ floppy drive. I built this unit to Inventory so far ( 10/05/19): Case Thermaltake H200 TG White ( only one glass side a nice canvas for the project) Thermaltake Toughpower grand series 1200-watt RGB ( I got this at frys’s last year cheap) Thermaltake 3-pack fans with controller Pure Plus 12 NVMe M.2 970 Evo 1 TB 2@ Team Group L5 SSDs 1TB Gold in color ( I got these to match the interior ) I need the advice of those greater then myself here: This is the odd part. I have not picked a processor, ram or cooler yet. I can wait until March 2020 for this project to complete. I think I might just wait for the new Thread Ripper to come out and buy the current generation at a discount. But I am way open to suggestion on what is normally the most important part of the build. Colors for the interior : harvest gold, black , white & grey. The Bowie theme: Now important part. I figured why recreate a cheesy design when the Vans I have (see above in post) captured the design esthetic pretty well. I am looking at building/ buying a nas/ plex server for home media i could be streaming to up to 5 tv at a time all hard wired. but i do not know how much cpu power i will need i have i have about 200movies worth of footage that i want place on this nas so any sugestions i have a buget of about 1000 us dollor

So i am working on a personal project to design the best possible m-atx case, and im looking for essential things that would make or break a case. And then things that would bring it to that next level, kinda of a best of everything, no comprimises. All criticism welcome. Just some notes: -I chose m-atx due to the best price to preformance and what you can fit in it. Anything more than dual gpu's has a high diminishing return, and you can still fit all the watercooling you need. -Looking for opinions on water cooling. Would a 240/280 in the front be good enough or should the design work for a 360? And ontop, the same deal -how many drives should there be? im looking at 2 ssd's and up to 4x3.5, or it could work around a 4 drive system with a 3.5/2.5in bracket -colors?

Hello Linus tech tips community! I have not posted to much on here, the last thing I posted was about my first build and you guys helped a lot! . I am build a Pc for a second room, and I need a little help picking parts to it. So I am going to use this computer for a few games like Minecraft, and doing a little screen recording, also some school work. So the processor I think I am going to go with is a AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor . Is this a good one for what I am going to be doing, or should I save up and get a I7? Obviously the I7 will do better, but how much better? The second question I have, is I am going with 8GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-10666 1333MHz Ripjaw Series CL9 (9-9-9-24) Dual Channel kit . Ok so I've been programming in c++ for a while now (about half a year), and I've been wanting to try and get into game programming. i just cant find a good place to learn from. so if any of you guys could help me or advise me on where i should start that would be great. also if you could advise me on a good engine for beginners that would be helpful too.
