PC random shutdown and reboot all of a sudden with *no bosd while doing nothing (idle) or while browsing or watching YouTube on chrome. While gaming it does not have any issues, infect I can game 4 hours+ without any issues. It all happend few days after my yearly system clean and overclock tweeking, mainly increase core frequency from 4.5Ghz to 4.7Ghz and fine tune vcore by lowing offset voltage. But currently on stock settings but still sudden reboot. Sometimes it only happend once in a day but other time it can restart up to 5 times (like today it restated 7 times since afternoon). The restart can happend anywhere between hours to minutes after the last sudden reboot. Unable to provide system dump because there's no BOSD it's like someone turn off and on the main and quickly press the power button after that. By far the troubleshoot I have done Reinstall the driver that looks like it was the cause (Asus ai suite 2) - no luck Recheck cable connection - no luck Reseat CPU - no luck Change cmos battery - no luck *Change oc to defult - no luck *Check event viewer - no luck Memtest86 (3/4 pass (didn't run all) ) - no luck (all pass) Stress test (real bench, AIDA, prime95 (max stress), furmark, haven) - no luck Monitoring voltage in windows (hwinfo, AIDA hwm+, open hwm, asus suite) - no luck all looks fine (even on stress test) Monitoring voltage by molex using multimeter - no luck looks fine (even on stress test) *Monitoring voltage through motherboard - no luck all looks fine Monitoring voltage through ROG connect - no luck all looks fine Check temps - all looks fine CPU @ max load 70°C at stock (@4.7ghz @76-80°C?), GPU @ 72°C *Did a clear cmos and reapply my settings all the same. So I reset multiplier to auto and offset voltage (+) to AUTO (Basicly defult). But still the same reboot without any warning. *Event viewer only show 3 errors Error 1 audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0 Error 2 critical reboot, system has rebooted without shutting down first l Error 3 the system has previously shutdown *Motherboard voltage measurement through Asus ProbeIt measurement points System spec Motherboard: Asus Maximus IV Extreme Z Ya it's an old board but it's still gets the job done Latest BIOS Change this few setting Vcore load like calibration - 50% Vcore phase control - Optimized Vcore overload protection - 130% Voltage - offset (Defult - Manual) Dram settings (see ram) Second hand from my uncle and have been using since 2016 without any problem CPU: 2600k (Noctua NH U12P dual fan) 4.7Ghz @ 1.448v (max voltage on stress test) 4.5Ghz @ 1.4v Stock 3.8Ghz @ ~1.36v (current) (voltage auto) (CURRENT) Previously it was fine running at 4.7Ghz with an offset of +0.75 but I lower it till +0.55 and no crash. Sound card: Asus Xonar DGX SSD: Crucial MX500 500GB HDD: WD Blue 1TB Windows: Windows 10 latest update (Last format was in December 2019) Note: My PC is connected to belkin power surge strip since 2015? and has been using it almost everyday from almost morning till late at night or afternoon till late at night and no RGB. Thinking of trying a spare PSU and see how it goes. Will update if problem still proceed. Hope you get an idea of what is happening and hope this fan be solve without spending much money.

So a few days ago i was playing cs:go for 80-90 minutes and suddenly screen gone blank and pc shut down. Then i waited for time and tried powering it on again, no luck.. pc wont start. Then i removed gpu and tried to start pc on igpu, it started normally and everything was working fine. After reinserting the gpu, it wont start. I also tried to start system with gpu inserted but power connected to gpu, still it doesnt work. Seems that gpu is not allowing the system to even start. So far here's what i've tried: Starting pc without gpu - working Cleaned gpu and motherboard with isopropyl alcohol Reapplied thermal paste on cpu as well as gpu Reseated ram, cpu, hdd Tried gpu in other system - not working Starting system with gpu in but no power connection to gpu - not working PC Specs: CPU - Intel i5 4440 MOBO - Gigabyte GA D3H RAM - Corsair Vengeance 4GB x 2 GPU - Sapphire R9 280X Dual-X PSU - Seasonic M12 520Watts

Hi! I’ve been using an old ASUS rog g551jm laptop for a while. It worked very well for its age. Summer is unbelievable hot, and my room gets very hot some days. One day I’ve noticed some changes in the performance. It wasn’t a decay, the performance dropped suddenly in like 1-2days. At that time I was only playing league and the indicator was the FPS. I had a fixed 120 with average of 100-120. Since the sudden change it starts at 120 then in a few minutes it’s around 30-75 with even higher lows like 15 for some time. Other programs show the same kind of performance, I just don’t have a way to measure it. Is there any software I can run to check what’s the problem? Since it happened i’ve changed the location of the laptop and it’s in a way cooler room, but the problem exists. I’ve tried to clean it 2yrs ago and found 0 amount of dirt, props to the flow I guess. Opened up again, very slightly dirty, I cleaned what I could. ps. I usually re-install everything in every year or two years. Right now I would avoid that if it’s possible. thanks for any help

I got a GTX 1050 Ti with a Phenom X6 1090T. My GPU always maxed out on 99% and sometimes 100%, with not much bottleneck on the CPU, but 2 days ago I was playing PUBG and streaming w/ my friend and It was fine and then I stop the stream, do some stuff, then shut the PC down. But about 9 hours later, I turn on my PC, do some stuff, then open up PUBG. My FPS is low. Where it usually around 60, it's 30 and lower. Later I found out that my GPU isn't maxing out and it barely go above 50%, but the CPU isn't going above 70% and the thermals are well below 60 degrees Celcius, and it never goes up to 80 degrees. It does the same thing with CS: GO and Minecraft, but it maxing out on Unigine Heaven and Superposition. Please help me. I still have the warranty but I don't even know if that will help. I tried clean install and reinstalling the graphics driver and system restore, but none helps.

So, from a day to another, I started getting bad fps in games I was used to run way better with my GTX 560 (Gigabyte) (BF3 for example, I was used to get about 35-45fps on high settings 1600x1200) so I tried with DayZ Standalone (I know it's not such a stable game, but I was getting about 20-30 fps in the woods and now I'm getting 7-15fps) and the same thing happened. I went to Speccy to check my temps, everything seems fine, except my GPU, but it wasn't too bad at all, I usually have about 35-38ºC and now I'm 43ºC I know that's a normal temp, but then I went to MSI Afterburner just to see that my memory clock was jumping from 324MHz (or even lowe, 134MHz) up to 2005MHz on my desktop, and then going back to 324MHz. The same happens with my Core clock with in a lower range (From 405MHz to 830MHz). My memory usage seems to be always at 100% or even higher (What the hell?). MSI Afterburner Windows task manager (Just in case) My system: CPU: AMD FX 8320 3.5GHz 4 Cores 8 Threads Motherboard: ASUS M5A97LE R2.0 OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 RAM: 4 GB DDR3 1333MHz GPU: GeForce GTX 560 (Gigabyte) 1GB GDRR5 Display: 1600x1200 60Hz I don't know what's going on, but I need help. What can I do? What could it be? Many thanks to all of you.

So I have built a new computer. The hardware are these: MSI X99S SLI PLUS 8GB DDR4 Crucial Ballistix Corsair RM850 Intel Core i7-5820K 2TB Seagate Desktop SSHD CoolerMaster V8 GTS CPU Fan TP-Link TL-WDN4800 WiFi Card Graphics Card: NVidia GT610 or NVidia 9600GT Yes, I know, my graphics cards are trash, I only use them for a short period though until I save for the GTX970 and more ram. I in the beginning used the GT610 and then I changed it as I though it maybe had a problem but changing to 9600GT doesn't help. I have Windows 10 Technical Preview installed and every time that I use the computer for installation of drivers, going to the Internet and more stuff that aren't at all too powerful, the PC suddenly or gets stuck and then restarts or restarts immediately in the middle of use. I have also made an X pattern with the thermal paste that I think was maybe a little too much, although the temperatures never pass 40 Degrees Celcius, it's mostly around the 30's and 20's. I don't know what to do and what could be the problem or hardware doing it.. Any help ?

Hey guys, I just recently returned from school and my PC won't turn on... I tried turning off the power supply, re plug the cable, turn it on, and nothing... I looked under my power supply to see if the fan suffocated and there was barely any dust. Then I try turning off the power bar it's outlet is connected to, and back on... Still doesn't work. Please help me out, should I open it up and check the components? My monitor works just fine. How can I check if something is broken? Is it something on their part? I've only had my PC for 3 months now... EDIT: It was working JUST fine last night. *Yes, I did check the thread in this section... Nothing helps... I haven't checked the power supply yet.*

Hey guys, I've got a computer with a HP Pavilion desktop tower with i5-750. I upgraded over the years: - extra RAM - SSD - GTX 560 Ti - AYWUN 550w 80 Plus PSU Today it suddenly shut down and won't start, so I assumed the PSU died. After checking unplugging the pci-e connector (just one sometimes works but both definitely works), it boots. (But with the gpu still in the motherboard it makes beeping sound, probably because it's being underpowered.) Also the shorting pins method shows the PSU did intact still ran. So now i'm thinking this old generic PSU must be degrading. I swap in my Silverstone 600W 80 plus bronze which I had running a 7870 and it's the same scenario. Also just for the giggles I even used a SHAW 865w??? $20 PSU with adapters on the GPU and it still does the same thing. What is going on?? Is 600W PSU still not enough for this ageing 560 Ti and i5 or am I missing something here? I even ran dual PSU, one just to power the motherboard + aux 4 pin and another just to run the 2 6 pin pci-e for the gpu. No luck.

Hello LinusTechPros, Fx 8320 @ 4.4 Ghz 2x R9 280x Crossfire Factory OC 1020/1500 Gigabyte 990fx-a UD3 Revision 4 12GB RAM 850w Corsair Anyway, Last week I ran Unigine 4.0 and got this. This was with beta 14.3 drivers. This week I literally did nothing except update my via USB 3.0 drivers (VIA_XHCI_Driver_V4.50A_AP) because they were utilizing 13% CPU at all times, even idle. After I patched that the cpu back to 1-2% usage at desktop. So I decided to run Heaven again to see what happens. To my surprise, my FPS plummeted from 70.5, to around 58. Same exact settings, same exact drivers. So I tried downgrading to catalyst 13.11 and get the exact same results. The kicker? I get even more min fps, but still get a lower score and FPS overall. WTF is going on? Is one of my cards dying? Was heaven 4.0 glitching up because my CPU was using 13% at all times. Why did it make results worse? Help is greatly appreciated kind sirs. Thank you.
