I've had a pair of Limited Edition KRK Rokit 5's like the pictures attached that I've been very happy with for 10+ years. One is starting to have some issues and probably not worth trying to repair since I don't know how to do it myself. It's basically crackling or will stop outputting audio completely (more often than not now). I assume it's probably best to upgrade so that brings me here since I'm confused on where to start. Reddit and YouTube aren't helping very much since it's been so long since I've upgraded. KRK appears to have different options now (Classic Series) & (ROKIT Powered G4). I've found both pairs on sale, Classic for $200 and ROKIT for $338. Does anyone follow audio closely to have experienced or really know the differences? I've seen a couple videos and it would appear the Classic would be fine but what I can't figure out is how they compare to what I have now. I'll be using the monitors for doing light audio and video production, listening to music, and for gaming when not using a headset. The color of them doesn't matter to me (black, white, red, blue, etc) and I'm also open to other brands but know KRK have been highly reviewed in the past I just want a high quality monitor with great sound overall like these or better - Any feedback on my current options or other things I should consider would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am having some issues with my 5.1 surround sound set up. Please look at the hardware specs below to assist. The issue I am having is all to do with my subwoofer. When I enter the Realtek Audio Console, I can change the 3.5mm audio jack inputs for the monitors and for the sub. To get the sub to play anything, I have to change the blue audio jack, which the sub is plugged into, from "sub/center" to "headphone." Even then, I have to have the speaker configuration set to stereo instead of 5.1 surround. When I do change it to 5.1 surround, and launch into a game like COD, I lose all ability to hear vocal frequencies. I can hear gunshots, explosions, footsteps, but not any voice. The only solution I have found is to keep the sub as a headphone output and the speaker configuration as stereo. However, I believe that this is causing some audio quality loss as it isn't hooked up as a true subwoofer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Hello, I've been looking at purchasing a new set of PC speakers and I've been wondering whether it's better to go with a 2.0 set or a 2.1 set. The speakers would be general purpose - gaming, music, movies, etc. Now, I'm no audiophile, but I am halfway towards being one - I can definitely recognize when something sounds terrible. I need something halfway decent which will not drive me crazy. No great volume or bass which will make my neighbors kill me required. My budget is about 100€ and I've been looking at Edifier 1280T or Tascam VL-S3 for the 2.0 side. I've almost decided to buy the Edifiers, but I don't want to be sorry about getting a 2.0 set when I could have gotten a similarly price 2.1 set (Edifier M3200, for example). Any advice? Thanks!

I am trying to connect my KRK Rokit 5's to my PC as well as my numark mixtrack pro 3 to my PC. I want my PC to use my KRK's as speakers normally. When I want to record my my DJ mixes I want to be able to connect my mixtrack pro 3 to [insert what I need] and start mixing. My biggest issue is what do I need. Do I need an audio interface or a dac or both? I know the sound cards that come with PC's usually do not have enough juice to really let studio monitors perform at their best, but I do not know how a DAC would connect to my PC anyways. My mixtrack pro 3 has a built in RCA audio interface so do I need one for my computer? I have a lot of questions and I am generally confused at what to do can anyone help? I have include some pictures to maybe help everyone get a feel of what's going on.

Hi, I am hoping to turn my bedroom into a small home studio, and was wondering what studio monitors, isolation pads, acoustic treatment, and mic options would be the best. The room is pretty small, at around 10x7 feet, and unfortunately, I would have to put the studio monitors close to a wall and on my desk, so I most likely would need iso pads to reduce vibration to the desk. I also want to record some vocals, both rap and singing, as well as violin, so I need to know what microphone or type of microphone would be best for that task as well as what acoustic treatment I need for such a small room. I'm also looking at the m-audio 2x2m for an audio interface. All suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

S.M.S.L MINI DAC SD-793II VS FiiO Q1? For music and gaming on my pc with IEM's. My soundcard takes away a bit of the fidelity of the sound when i'm using headphones on it. I take other recommendations around 100$ but a line-out is neccessary for my studio monitors.

Thinking of buying new speakers for pc was looking at Edifier R1700bt stereo speakers. Wandering if anyone has had previous experience with the speakers and if i will need a soundcard or amp also if a subwoofer would be a good addition or even if there are better ones out there in same price range. They costs around $200 AUD.

Hey guys I need some advice on picking out some decent studio monitors, I'm not making music but I am big on sound quality and wanted to know which of the choices would be best for the buck. Not trying to go more than possibly a $130 if you guys have other recommendations The choices: Mackie CR4- on sale rn for $114 Mackie CR3 - $99 Logitech z623 Or a pair of Klipsch pro media 2.0 that I might be able to get from my dad but don't know if the Mackies are way better I'm big on Bass so eventually might add a subwoofer. Thanks in advance!!!

On my desk, I have 2 fairly large behringer truth monitors that are curved so the audio goes more directly to my ears. The only problem is that I want an extended mouse pad, and I don't have enough room to. Would the audio quality suffer if the speakers were turned to be flat against the wall? And if so, should I get a stand for both of them to keep them off my desk so the mouse pad can fit?

So i want to replace my old Logitech Z5300 surround PC speakers with a nice set of bookshelf speakers (~£250 or so, currently looking at the Audioengine A5+). The logitechs are nice when playing games but when watching footall (erm soccer) or Netflix they sound too bassy and muddy. Also the positioning of the 4 surround speakers doesn't help as they are on the floor so i get the brunt of the centre and base in my head. The issue is the space i have available for my setup (see pics). Anyone got any clever ideas on where/how i can place speakers? I can't really move my PC to a different wall so this is kind of what i'm stuck with. I could replace the desk with a slightly wider one that fits over my heater but i like the shelving on my current one. http://imgur.com/kNGbpVm http://imgur.com/ogrJfmw http://imgur.com/6ZquVXn

I currently have a Samsung HT-TZ512 home theater system as my pc audio system. It is currently on stereo. Im going to be doing things like playing with midi controllers (like a launchpad) creating projects for them, doing some mixes, things like that and im just getting into this and thought if i should get some studio monitors instead of a home theater system. Im also going to do some gaming, video making, watching youtube. I was wondering which type of speakers will be best for my needs. And i have a budget of $150 on studio monitors. FYI i love bass.

I am a content producer and want to teach myself to play bass and to DJ. I already use a Scarlett 2i2 and CM25 studio XLR mic for recording purposes. I also use Scarlett HP60 monitoring headphones and the very highly rated ATH M50X, which I love! I want to get into a lot more EDM production and this would all take place in my bedroom, it's not too small bu not big either and has plenty of soft furnishings to absorb any echo. I prefer the aesthetics of the Yamaha model but as they come in at the same price, and both have 5" drivers I'm more bothered about RAW sound quality and which sound better, anyone got any suggestion out of the 2? Thanks, James

Hello, I'm thinking of getting the Yamaha HS5 studio monitors and am wondering if I should also purchase a DAC (or Amp). I am using a Hackintosh and am unable to use audio coming from my motherboard so I use a Syba USB stereo audio adapter. I also have a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50xs. Should I be purchasing a DAC, like the Fiio E10k, or Audioengine D1? Will they sound okay w/o the DAC, and if not, how much of a difference will their be with the DAC? I want to get studio monitors in my room for 70% music listening, mostly house music. And 30% of gaming. My soundcard is the Creative Sound Blaster ZXR. I have a very small room and the monitors will be about 2ft away from me. Does wattage matter, the max volume all of these will be to much for me to handle in my room. I just want the best sound for this budget. M-Audio AV40 range is 85hz - 20Khz Behringer MS40 range is 50Hz - 25Khz The Behringer STUDIO comes out in 3 weeks and not much info are out there about them. I have been saving up for my first studio monitors for a while now and I have been torn between two different monitors for a while now, BEHRINGER TRUTH B2031A and JBL LSR308. Then recently Massdrop showed M-Audio M3-8's for as low as 239$ a piece. I will be playing them through my Fiio E10 from my computer and was wondering if it would be a better deal to just go with the M3-8's. I am to believe that the M3-8s would be better due to the three speaker design for more dedicated low and mids. In theory this would be the better option for sound separation, yet, I know that what ultimately comes down to is quality. From what I heard this is the first three speaker design by M-Audio which makes me think there is room for improvement. I was going to buy the M3-8's but am having seconds thoughts. I figured heading to the forums for some more experienced advice. So whats the best option? -Thanks EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am getting these speakers for casual use. I don't plan on using them for mixing or anything (I never have done anything of the sort). I mainly listen to Rock, Blues, Metal, Folk, Pop.
