Good morning, everyone I have a problem I'm hoping everyone can help me with. My girlfriend and I just moved into a new condo, and we have 2 gaming setups in 1 room. The problem is that when I talk, I can hear myself on her mic and same for her (on discord and stream labs). What is the solution for this we both have Elgato Wave 3 mics. Do we need to buy new mics or is there something we can do to make these work?

I have a junky smart TV I got for free, Im not really sure what OS its running, I don't think it's Android but it has YouTube and a basic ass web browser. It's a Sharp Aquos. I want to use this TV to view my Tapo camera that I have setup at the door, so that I don't have to open the app every time. Plus, it's helpful for family members in the house , who aren't tech savvy, can still easily see who's at the door without opening it. but the issue as Ive found is that RTSP streams cant be directly views in the browser. I know VLC can play it but I don't think the TV can download applications? Is it possible to repackage the RTSP stream or convert it into a different format such that it can be viewed in-browser or maybe somehow setup a privat-ed stream on YouTube which can then be viewed on the TV? any help is greatly appreciated

Hi! I have a TV I can stream to using chromecast or VLC, but my issue is that the TV is in another room, and I can't control the media player from there. Other than using a laptop to remotely control the computer itself, does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that? Thanks

Hey all! I play D&d with friends a lot and I use some steam software (Dungeon Alchemist) to visualize maps etc. I have been able to do this on my Samsung TV through the steam link app up until now. Unfortunately Samsung is pulling the plug on that software in 2 weeks on all of their TVs. I can control everything by plugging the Bluetooth dongle for my wireless mouse and keyboard directly into my TV, and the steam link app recognizes them. (the TV itself does not, but as soon as I open the steam link app, they work). It wasn't perfect and it tended to bug a little bit but for my use case, it was enough. I only had to occasionally open different maps and walk through them a bit. Since the software does not support controllers, I have to use a kb and mouse combo. I tried connecting a Chromecast I borrowed from a friend and doing the same thing, however I noticed the Chromecast will just not recognize the input from my mouse and keyboard. I looked online and I found options to buy a seperate USB hub, put it between my TV and a chromecast, and that can SOMETIMES work. However, spending +- 100 euros on a 4k chromecast + a hub as a gamble sounds a bit rough to me. Keep in mind I don't need the chromecast for anything other than this specific use case, as my 4k samsung TV supports all other newest apps etc. Does anybody else have other suggestions, or ideas?? I know I could also buy an Nvidia shield (4k) but they are still VERY expensive (200+ euros here) and honestly I should just be able to stream to my TV (and be able to use wireless devices) without buying tons of hardware. Update: I also found the xiaomi Mi box S 2nd gen which should be able to do 4k streaming, however I don't know if it allows steam link and I don't know if it supports wireless kb and mouse. There is a USB port but I don't know if it supports kb and mouse I also don't know if it allows me to open my file explorer on pc to load different maps into Dungeon Alchemist. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

After the recent drama in streamer world about stealing content/viewers by reacting, And also after hearing Linus mention this a few times in the WAN show that he is looking for a just way to to this got me thinking about a way to do this, However my developing skills are not developed enough to work this out on my own. I did some research on the topic and it seems doable (at least for YouTube) but i would need some people with backend knowledge to help out here. So the general layout would be to redirect people to a separate page where the stream would happen (can not be done on platform) and having a master page for the streamer with controlls. On this page would be two embedded video's One is the commentary, and the other is video that we are reacting to what i found we could use the Youtube Data API (you need to request a key to test this here) to poll the master page to see where they are in the video. As i understand this it will never be 100% correct because of network delays but unless you are way off grid it should be close enough. For example (please forgive me if the code has errors, i am quickly trying to make a mock-up and I asked GPT for help) something like this should be ran in the backend. from flask import Flask, request, jsonify app = Flask(__name__) # The current playback position of the video currentPlaybackPosition = 0 @app.route('/api/setPlaybackPosition', methods=['POST']) def setPlaybackPosition(): # Get the current playback position from the request global currentPlaybackPosition currentPlaybackPosition = request.json['currentTime'] return 'OK' @app.route('/api/getPlaybackPosition', methods=['GET']) def getPlaybackPosition(): # Return the current playback position of the video return jsonify({ 'currentTime': currentPlaybackPosition }) if __name__ == '__main__': app.run() The frontend would have the master page have something like this: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>YouTube Video Sync</title> </head> <body> <div id="player"></div> <script src="https://apis.google.com/js/platform.js"></script> <script> // Replace the video ID with your own var videoId = 'VIDEO_ID'; // Replace the start time with your own var startTime = 00; // Create the player object var player; // Load the YouTube IFrame Player API var tag = document.createElement('script'); tag.src = 'https://www.youtube.com/iframe_api'; var firstScriptTag = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; firstScriptTag.parentNode.insertBefore(tag, firstScriptTag); // Create the player object when the API is ready function onYouTubeIframeAPIReady() { player = new YT.Player('player', { height: '360', width: '640', videoId: videoId, playerVars: { start: startTime }, events: { 'onStateChange': onPlayerStateChange } }); } // Listen for changes in the player state function onPlayerStateChange(event) { if (event.data == YT.PlayerState.PLAYING) { // Get the current playback position var currentTime = player.getCurrentTime(); // Send the current playback position to the server var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest(); xhr.open('POST', '/api/setPlaybackPosition'); xhr.setRequestHeader('Content-Type', 'application/json'); xhr.send(JSON.stringify({ 'currentTime': currentTime })); } } </script> </body> </html> where the player sends its info to the backend to see where we are in the video and lastly on the client side we should have this script (or at least a working version of it i didn't test this yet) // Replace the video ID with your own var videoId = 'VIDEO_ID'; // Replace the start time with your own var startTime = 0; // The maximum difference between the current playback position and the master data var maxDifference = 1; // Create the player object var player; // Load the YouTube IFrame Player API var tag = document.createElement('script'); tag.src = 'https://www.youtube.com/iframe_api'; var firstScriptTag = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; firstScriptTag.parentNode.insertBefore(tag, firstScriptTag); // Create the player object when the API is ready function onYouTubeIframeAPIReady() { player = new YT.Player('player', { height: '360', width: '640', videoId: videoId, playerVars: { start: startTime }, events: { 'onStateChange': onPlayerStateChange } }); } // Listen for changes in the player state function onPlayerStateChange(event) { if (event.data == YT.PlayerState.PLAYING) { // Poll the server for the current playback position every second setInterval(function() { var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest(); xhr.open('GET', '/api/getPlaybackPosition'); xhr.onload = function() { // Get the current playback position from the server var currentPlaybackPosition = JSON.parse(xhr.responseText)['currentTime']; // Get the current playback position of the video var currentTime = player.getCurrentTime(); // Calculate the difference between the current playback position and the master data var difference = Math.abs(currentPlaybackPosition - currentTime); // If the difference is greater than the maximum difference, seek to the master data if (difference > maxDifference) { player.seekTo(currentPlaybackPosition); } }; xhr.send(); }, 1000); } } So the working Theory is that the streamer would have his master video open where he can scroll thought the video and this gets polled and sent to a backend script while everyone watching polls the same backend script and their player will scrub until the time is in sync. although to make this a usable project. there would probably need to be a portal where you can drop video's on the fly and they would be synced to all the other pages etc so as you see i have a project that is way beyond me in skill and size. Would love to get some people together to opensource this as it would in my opinion be a great solution the the whole "your re leeching my viewers" problem as everyone will be watching the video in his own window and getting their own adds. etc. Would love to hear your initial thoughts.

The gaming industry is huge and a large number of people here play in one form or another, Is it time for a stream dedicated to the industry? Similar in format to WAN show just exclusively focused on gaming and the hardware there-in. I am pretty sure there is more than enough content to make one without having one aspect dominate the entire show. From developments in the PC industry on new hardware, to hardware updates in the console world on whats happening now and whats coming thats the first hour right there. Then we hit the software side with game release hits and misses, gameplay reviews, game development, throw in an interview or two then a Q&A and you easily have a two hour show. The first hour can be recorded while waiting for Linus to turn up for the WAN show j/k The infrastructure is already in place, i'm just putting it out there and seeing the response.

Will there be any WAN Show this week @LinusTech???

beatsaber Does Linus Know About "Beat Saber Legacy Launcher"?
CassiTheNerd420 posted a topic in PC Gaming
I was watching the recent stream and he mentioned he doesn't stream Beatsaber due to the frequent updates breaking mods there's this launcher called "Beat Saber Legacy Launcher" (https://github.com/RiskiVR/BSLegacyLauncher) that with a valid steam login will install and launch any version of beat saber separately so that it won't update, so you can separately mod each version. It even includes shared folders between versions so you can have your custom songs, Sabers , and environments saved between versions. -
Budget (including currency): About 500-800$ for the PC itself Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Basic computer functions and streaming 1080p to Facebook for our giveaway livestreams. Other details Ok so my dad is asking for me to build a new pc for our family paintball business, PaintballToGo. Pretty much, it needs to be able to stream 1080p webcam footage and, as my dad said exactly, "Have a crap ton of storage". He also would like it to be able to last for 10-15 years before needing to be replaced. Also, we plan on building a NAS for home use and would like to have enough storage on this pc to be able to copy some of the NAS files to it. The reason for this is because we may do some light video editing on it/ may need to have some business related files on it for our business. He doesn't really care about the size, looks, or anything like that, so I probably won't be putting any "Gaming" focused stuff in it, unlike my last build. TLDR: It needs a good enough GPU to handle 1080p streams and maybe light video editing/playing BTD when I get bored. Also it should have enough storage that he won't have to worry about deleting applications and such to make room. It also needs to be insanely reliable so I don't have to waste time fixing it every week or anything like that since I'm the family "Computer Guy". No look/size constraints. Basically, it's a regular ass computer that needs GPU heft to stream, storage to store random files before they're transferred to a NAS, and be reliable enough I shouldn't have to worry about constantly doing maintenance. Any suggestions/help with the part list is extremely appreciated. This isn't my first build so I know what to do when it comes to computers in general, just not good at making parts lists.

Budget (including currency): 800(ish?) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: variety Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): ryzen 7 3700x Ram 32GB gpu: Radeon rx 570 power sup: 750W Dual LG 4k monitors first time posting… this is my first pc build. I’ve had it for a couple of years now. I’m a videographer and editor by trade. I got into streaming for fun last year and I’m looking to upgrade to a better graphics card to be able to handle streaming and game performance, maybe some game recording to mess around with some fun projects, but also be able to do more work from home. My current editing software is DaVinci Resolve which, at this time, is not compatible with AMD’s current version. I believe this will get fixed in the future but whether I stick with AMD or not for this purpose isn’t really a deciding factor. I’m just hoping to make a decent upgrade at this time. I am not computer literate… so looking up graphics cards and seeing mostly numbers and “ti’s” is like trying to read another language for me. I’ve been looking up GPU’s and seeing good things about the Nvidia Rtx 3070’s other than price as well as the new 4070’s but a lot of YouTubers are saying not to buy them? I’m not trying to break the bank… but I want a decent upgrade and I don’t want to worry about upgrading again in two years. I’m hoping to find something solid for what I want to use it for at a decent price. Can anyone give me some good options?

hey guys, i have been making some form of twitch/ YT content for over 3yrs now. last year i built my new rig upgrading from a R7 2700 W/ 2060 super to a R9 7950X W/ RX7900xt. but the past 3-4 months i have been struggling with my twitch stream quality and my raw streams are on the hefty side to upload to YT. I understand that Nvidia's drivers and Nvenc encoders are much better for what i want to do but Nvidia needs a reality check and im voting with my dollar. here are my settings in obs. for some context i want to play and record my gameplay at 4k for the YT channel but stream it on twitch at 1080p. with these settings i get a fairly "okay" stream but the bit rate and frame rate isnt great for more intense scenes (even on minecraft). so anyone that may be a guru with obs or AMD hardware what should i change? should i just lower my stream to 720p? should i be using some kind of plugin? any and all help is apreciated. thanks!

Hey guys, I recently bought a cheap $8 capture card and tried doing the dual stream PC set up. The stream was extremely pixelated and low quality although i was streaming at 1080p. Gaming pc (Rtx3080 & Ryzen 5600x). I wanted to know if whether was it my internet, laptop or capture card that is causing this pixelated and low quality stream (video link at the bottom). I also streamed through gaming PC only and the results were better. But I do want to know which device is the cause of the pixelated stream. (streaming only from gaming PC) https://youtube.com/live/2FxLAKdIQLk?feature=share (streaming with capture card and gaming laptop) https://youtube.com/live/bvjNkwm83KE?feature=share

Budget (including currency): $1,000 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: NAS I am going on a multi month work trip to a place where there will be no cell service or other internet connections. However there will be electricity and a place for a computer (inside a workshop) and router. The goal of this project is to make a machine that allows me to store an entire library of content (movies, TV shows, exc) and be able to stream ,or at least download, content that me and my coworkers would like to watch. If there are recommendations for applications/ services that would allow streaming of multiple local files at the same time to mobile devices. Also recommendations for ripping Blurays would be helpful. This is more of a request for applications than of hardware recommendations however both are appreciated.

So i used to stream to twitch a while ago perfectly fine with my speeds being perfectly normal with my bittate not moving around too much and staying where i set it. fast forward to a couple of months later and i dont know what is causing the problem or what it is. My task manager is showing my ethernet going up and down a whole lot. I can play games perfectly fine and my downloads are fine too. My upload speeds always appear to be fine but whenever i start going live my streams start to look all blurry and get in the 1000kbs and under and it never used to do this at all Please help me solve this so i can get back into streaming. Thanks

I have two monitors: A 1440p 170hz (Primary) And a 1080p 70hz (Secondary) The problem is that any type of screen recording in my primary monitor (screen sharing, recording, streaming, even screen shots) looks super bright, blurry and very lagged in the case of streaming and recording. While if I do the same on my secondary monitor seems to work perfectly. Video recordings for both: Main monitor recording (Not working): https://youtu.be/O1sVr4jM3qI Secondary monitor recording (Working): https://youtu.be/NjR-Es0oWYY

so i have been streaming for a while now, and havehad no issues for the longest time. but from one day to the other my bitrate started to drop to 600 kb/s randomly in between the actual 4000 to 6000 it would do. weirdest thing of all is that my laptop (which is connected to the exact same internet) does a stable 7000 kb/s and streams fine. i have also tried this on the same laptop with wifi, even with the wifi it never dropped under 6950 kb/s. i have tried an NDI but for games i play that is just unstable (apex legends). i have bought a usb wifi dongle but this also didnt seem to fix my bad bitrate issue. anyone have the same issue or a way to fix this? i have a feeling it has something to do with my motherboard but i wanna know for sure before i spend money on it.

Hey, so I'm streaming on an R7 260X and an i3-2120 (terrible, I know, nothing I can do about that) and I can stream CS:GO on a relatively watchable framerate with the CPU pegged at 100% all the time. Now, I'm wondering, can I increase the bit-rate without increasing CPU usage? Because my GPU encoder is only being used like 20% max.

Hey, I have experience building PCs, and I have worked with them for a few years now. I am in need of replacing both of my main workstations/gaming machines. I have had in mind and idea of what I want for each machine and would like to get opinions, ideas, possible part lists, whatever comes to mind. Build 1 (Main Priority, Full Gaming PC) Budget (including currency): $3000 - 5000 US Dollars. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Play any game 60FPS+ at Min 1440p Video Editing Unity Engine Unreal Engine Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No existing parts for this new build as this is supposed to be a replacement for a computer 7+ years old. Ideally to buy ASAP Ideal Resolution 1440p Ideal Refresh Rate 60hz + MUST BE SMALL (Constantly moving around the USA in the last few years and relocating to different cities, the idea would be to have a small tower that I can easily put in my car and move from City to City) I have look into the following prebuilt from Origin PC as my base idea of something I would want: https://www.originpc.com/gaming/desktops/chronos-v2/ This built is merely intended for gaming purposes as well as being used for occasionally work on Unity and Unreal engine making video games. It also needs to be capable of smooth video editing. Build 2 (Less Priority) Budget (including currency): $3000 - $5000 US Dollars. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Play any game 60FPS+ at Min 1440p Unity Engine Unreal Engine Microsoft Visual Studio VS Code Rider (https://www.jetbrains.com/rider/) Streaming Video Games (ideally being able to stream any games without issues) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): From my current build the only piece of hardware that I am planning on keeping is my Game Capture 4k60 Pro from El Gato https://www.elgato.com/en/game-capture-4k60-pro No other existing parts for this new build as this is supposed to be a replacement for a computer 5+ years old. (This computer has been refurbished by me so it has many technical issues and quirks that I would like have addressed with a new build) Ideally to buy ASAP Ideal Resolution 1440p Ideal Refresh Rate 60hz + MUST BE SMALL (Constantly moving around the USA in the last few years and relocating to different cities, the idea would be to have a small tower that I can easily put in my car and move from City to City) HOWEVER, since I am planning on keeping my Game Capture 4k60 I know I can't go with a Origin PC Chronos V2 choice as it does not have enough space to fit this extra PCIe card. https://www.originpc.com/gaming/desktops/chronos-v2/ This built is intended for gaming, video game development, coding, and game streaming, similar to the previous build but it will see more usage on technical stuff. Thanks for reading! :)
