  1. Hello! As the title of the post suggests, I am trying to add drives to an existing storage pool, but even though they are formatted and detected in Disk Management, they are not showing up in the storage pool menu as drives to add. Here are my specs: Windows 11 Pro 4 x Seagate EXOS 20 tb (2 of which were part of another storage space on a different computer; successfully detected on this new build) 2x 4 tb NVME SSD; 1x 2tb NVME SSD i9 13900k, 128 gb RAM, R9 7900xtx So here's the weird thing. Since I am migrating a storage space from my old desktop which ran Windows 10 to this new build which is running Windows 11, you'd think that there might be some sort of OS incompatibility, but one of my newly installed Seagate drives was detected and successfully added to the storage pool. I just can't add the fourth one. So, I have concluded that it is not an issue with upgrading from Windows 10 to 11. Also, all the drives are formatted as NTFS and detected in disk manager. I am having trouble detecting two of the drives. I currently have three of the 20 tb drives in a storage pool, but need to get the 4th added so I can have true parity (raid 1). I would also like to get the two 4 tb SSDs in a RAID 0, and one of them is not being detected. See the attached screenshot... You can see that there are drives not being detected by Storage Pools but they show up in Disk Management just fine! I don't know what to do, and I'm afraid I'll have to create spanned volumes in Disk Management instead of going through storage spaces, but I already have 20 tb of data on my storage space, so I'm in too deep.
  2. tl;dr: should I unplug windows storage space 2-way mirror drives prior to a windows "reset this PC" to prevent any risk of losing data/will I be able to just plug them back in and have the storage spaces recognised? Or is the "keep my files" option safe? Hi all, I wanted to clean up my windows install - I've used my desktop for a number of years, and I think small tweaks here and there have added up. I'm having issues such as windows hello not detecting my camera, and deleting and reinstalling drivers hasn't fixed the issues. That aside - I have a C drive (SSD) as my boot drive, a D drive ("fast" storage HDD) and E drive (Windows storage spaces "Two-way mirror" between 2 slower HDDs). I've got the C drive backed up externally, however I don't have capacity to back up the HDDs externally. So my question is this - can I just unplug the D and E drives before the reset to prevent any risk of losing data? I.e. will I be able to just plug them back in after and have windows recognise the storage spaces without overwriting the data? I imagine this isn't an issue for the D drive, but I'm unsure of the 2 drives used for the windows storage space. The "Reset this PC" does have a "keep files" option, but I don't know if this is guaranteed to not effect the non-boot drives or if there is any risk. Any insight is welcome!
  3. So, I have a problem with window's storage spaces and am NOT an expert, so I'm needing some help. Current drive config (yes I know it's messy, I built it over time and really didn't wanna re-install my OS. Gonna get fixed over the winter holiday vacation) I had an issue with bad sata cables that was fixed when I re-cable managed my PC. Unfortunately, my RAID1 config that I had on my 2 1TB spinning rusts got lost. NBD, i have a 4TB backup, and can re-format that. However, apparently after this event, my 500 GB SSD that I used for modded games was going in and out of visibility in windows. So I re-seated the cables, and then went to check drive health in Samsung magician when I noticed that the drive wasn't showing up properly So that second entry where it said it was a storage space got me thinking, so I checked storage spaces and got this: How??? So now I can't manage the drive properly, and I don't want it part of this storage space. I believe removing the drive re-formats it. Most of the modded games on this drive took hours to set up; I don't really want to re-do all that and re-map everything. When I go to create a new pool, the 2 1TB drives don't show up, only a different drive that is NOT formatted (the gaming drive). So how do I get out of this state? I can currently launch the games on the modding drive without issue but i'd rather get things right for my re-config, and I was planning on simply leaving this drive be for now. Thanks in advance.
  4. Per my previous post, my storage spaces pool got messed up, resulting in some very unusual behavior. I ended up backing up my data elsewhere, then re-formatting. However, I still can't restore my RAID 1. Context: I have my Windows install and boot on a 250 GB SSD (henceforth known as boot drive). Zero issues with this one. I have my games on another 250 GB SSD (henceforth known as game drive). Zero issues with this one I previously had another 500 GB SSD used for modding (henceforth known as modding drive) that somehow got stuck in the storage pool. Eventually i just backed everything up and formatted the drive I previously had two 1TB HDDs used for large file storage, configured in RAID 1. These got dis-associated, and out of the RAID. After failing to get them back-in, I backed up the data and formatted them My goal is to get the two 1TB HDDs back into a RAID 1 config Problem: Storage Spaces doesn't see the two 1TB HDDs as an option when trying to create a new storage space. I've formatted them (again), restarted the PC. They show up in disc management. Storage Spaces just straight up doesn't see them. Any advice is appreciated. Update: the advice from the comments worked. thank you!
  5. I've been running these 2 drives in raid 1 (mirrored) with windows storage spaces for ~2 years. I swapped out the psu a couple months ago which caused the JEKSM93Z drive to not power on anymore. (shucked drives) Fixed it today by taping over the necessary pins. Now I'm only given the option to reset the drive that never went out of commission. I'd like to reset the JEKSM93Z drive as that one is missing months worth of data. tldr: I want to reset JEKSM93Z, only given the option to reset JEKL2SUN. In other words, JEKL2SUN is up to date and I want the other drive to have the same data. I think I can do Reset-PhysicalDisk JEKSM93Z... Just want to make sure that won't delete all the data in the storage space.
  6. Hey Guys. I have two 4TB HDDs (WD Red) in my Computer and created a "simple" storage space with them. So far so good, it works. Now I was wondering if it is easily possible, to add another 4TB drive and switch from simple to parity mode? Would that just work / Is there an option to switch to parity mode? Or would I need to copy all my data to another drive ... and then create a new Storage Space with parity mode? I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I would really appreciate if some of you guys and gals can help me out. =D Cheers, Spike P.S.: I also have an old 2TB WD Green HDD laying around ... could I use this one to extend the storage pool? Or is this a bad idea? AFAIK WD Greens aren't supported to be used in a RAID? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  7. Hello, I'm a novice user first experience making a two-way mirror ironically to protect my data. Storage Spaces in Windows 10 is buggy or at least bad UI. There was 2 4TB drives in a Two-way mirror using Storage Spaces I need a bigger drive so I purchase two 12TB WD Element. I shock them into Storage Spaces, one by one and take out the two old 4TB Now looking in Windows, my drive D: is still only 4TB So is not using the full 12TB space. Nonsense I wish to change the volume from 4TB to 12TB I ask explaining the issue in Microsoft forum and turns out the volume hasn't been formatted. Or at least is missing the "Change" option as it should be shown in this pic NOW at this point, what I should do? How to disassemble Storage Spaces without losing data? I can't use the stupid "Delete" option because will delete all my info (I presume). I can't use the "Format" option because will delete as well. I do not have a second PC to take out and look at what's inside the HDD (all my memories) I can't just move (copy past) almost 4TB of data because is ridiculous and I lose info like created data. I still have my old two 4TB. In pandemic, I can't go out. Only one computer. Also two 12TB. Can I build a RAID1 to clone? How? Storage Spaces will allow that. Question How do I proceed at this point to get out? What is The best option? Disassemble and rebuild, format, or if possible creating a new pool and merge or other? How do I backup the data at this point? Do I need to use Powershell to change the volume? A novice user.
  8. I have been adding hard drives as I run out of space in my plex server for a few years, and I now have three hard drives of varying sizes up to 14TB. I think I should start to get a little more serious about my data, and I’m looking at moving everything into an refs storage space with a parity drive for better resiliency. Having everything in one neat virtual disk also sounds more convenient too. I currently use an old workstation PC with limited hardware specs, and will eventually upgrade to a whole new motherboard and CPU to serve as my plex server, but as funds are limited I’m trying to get the most life out of this setup as I can. Keeping that eventual upgrade in mind, how difficult is it to transfer a storage space pool from one install of windows to another? Can I just plug all the drives belonging to the storage space pool into the sata ports on my next motherboard, and install windows? Does it take special setup, or specific hardware requirements? I’ve never used RAID or windows’ storage space features before. Can this even be done, or do you just have to reformat the pool and copy the data from a backup? If it can be done, can I jump from win10 to win11 with my storage space pool? Not sure how much the current hardware specs matter for this question. Just in case though…The current PC is a Dell optiplex 790 with an i7 2600 and 16 gigs DDR3. The motherboard only has four sata II ports, and they’re all used. One might actually be a sata III though if I remember correctly I have my boot SSD on that port. I hope to find a deal eventually on something with a higher core count, and a lot of sata ports. Thanks for the help! Looking forward to learning from you all.
  9. Hi all, I need some help with a storage spaces storage pool. OS: Windows 10 Pro SATA Drives: Samsung SSD (Boot), DVD-RW, 2 x WD Blue 4TB, 2 x other HDD's I have two 4TB drives setup in two-way mirror mode via storage spaces, many years ago. The pool is almost full now, and one of the drives is showing some pending sectors, so I snagged two new 8TB drives in a good deal. I intend to replace 2 x 4TB (mirror'd) drives with 2 x 8TB drives, maintaining it in NTFS, and maintaining all data since I have some programs installed in this pool. I'm wondering what the best approach is? I've seen some tutorials on how to do this for drives of the same size, but not for different (larger) new drives, which I expect would create some issues? I also clicked the 'upgrade pool' button, which I understand is some sort of new feature, so I'm not sure if it affects how previous tutorials work. I use the DVD-RW drive, and the two other HDD's for work data. Therefore, it would be best to minimize the downtime of these drives if possible. The way I see it, one way would be to remove the other two work HDD's - mount the 2 new 8TB drives, and set up a new storage pool on those drives. Then, copy everything from the old pool into the new pool, unmount the old pool and rename the new pool's drive path. Is this sensible? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
  10. I'm finally ditching Intel RST RAID in favor of software RAID. Barring roughly 1.5% slower sequential writes, all is well! Except, whoa, my random 4k Q1T1 writes are over 3x slower. Ouch. Win RAID is happening via Windows 11 Storage Spaces + using Powershell to specify RAID 0 rather than default JBOD. Anyone know what's going on here and how to fix it? Thanks!
  11. Hi, i have an old pc that i use as a plex server at home on windows 10. i want to start backing up my library. i wanted to use windows storage spaces to add another drive to my pc and create a pool with 2 drives and use the 2 drives in mirror mode. my problem is that one of my drives has the data at the moment and i have nowhere to put it. when you create a new pool the data on the drives is erased so i'm trying to find a workaround. i thought that maybe i can create a new storage pool with the empty drive, move all my data to it and then extend the pool with the drive that currently has the data, will it work? do you have a better idea on how to do this?
  12. I am currently looking to modernize my NAS setup, which is currently running using 3 HDDs (4TB Seagate IronWolf) in a single volume using dynamic disks. Up until now, this was sufficient, as resilience wasn't important to me, because the data on it is easily replaceable stuff like private copies of DVDs for Plex, Offline storage for Google Drive, etc. But now I want to start storing other stuff on there too (backups, documents, etc.) so I started looking into different approaches to set up a new, resilient system. I really want to use Microsoft's "Storage Spaces", as I already have Windows 2019 Server running and licensed, so buying another piece of software "instead of Server 2019, and just use regular Windows 10/Pro" is not really the solution I'm looking for. (Sorry, I know there is lots of great Software RAID options) This isn't some video production server where multiple people move lots of big files all the time, it's mostly just used as a network share and for my private Plex server which I share with my roommate. So I don't need Gigabytes per second throughput, but something north of the 30MB/s horror stories I've read about old Versions of Windows Server would be nice. My main concern is the cost of hardware and the protection against typical wear and tear on the drives a couple years down the line. So, what I think I want to do is: Buy 3 additional 4TB HDDs and 2 SSDs (which AFAIK is the minimum requirement to setup a parity Storage Space with journaling SSDs) Set up Storage Pool with the 3 new HDDs and 2 SSDs (I'm thinking 500GB because of the good price per GB at the moment) Set the SSDs to journaling mode (I think this can only be done using PowerShell, but I haven't found anything updated for Server 2019) Create a new 36TB Storage Space using a single parity drive (so I am covered for a single drive failure) Create a new NTFS volume of 36TB (as that is my maximum capacity using 10x4TB Drives with a single parity AFAIK) from the 36TB Storage Space Copy the data (~11TB) from my old drives to the new volume Add my old drives to the Storage Pool (so the physical size would be 20TB using single parity) In the future I would like to add more 4TB HDDs (as I said, 10 in total) and maybe (if possible and actually beneficial) more journaling SSDs (I don't think more than 500GB write cache is necessary, but I really don't know) From what I understand this setup should give me decent performance, as the writes will be sped up using the SSD cache, and the reads should be pretty fast by themselves through parity (just like RAID 5), but please correct me if I'm wrong... I still have two (three) big questions about this: Is adding more physical drives later to expand a Sotrage Pool even possible when using a pool that contains HDD storage drives as well as SSD journaling drives? (Adding both storage HDDs and journaling SSDs) If I move enough data off of my old dynamic disk, I should be able to remove a physical drive from it using disk management. So I understand I could basically start by moving ~4TB of data from my old volume to the new one, then remove a disk from my old volume and add it to my new volume, then move the rest of the data. Is that assumption correct, or am I missing something? (Does this whole setup sound like an obviously terrible Idea to someone more qualified than I am?) I am sorry if this is a "stupid question" or anything, but I have not been able to find a conclusive answer myself.
  13. Hi There, Looking for some help please from one of the many gurus on here : Context I have recently upgraded my home server by increasing overall storage capacity from 20 TB to 84 TB by adding a bunch of brand new Seagate 16TB disks that were on sale @ Newegg in April. My total drive pool now looks like this : 1 x Samsung 960 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD (1 TB) Boot Drive 2 x Seagate IronWolf Pro 10TB Disks (20 TB) Original Pool 4 x Seagate Exos 16TB Disks (64 TB) New Disks Total useable pool = 76.3 TB My original 20 TB setup was configured in Windows Storage Spaces and in Two-way mirror format. The boot drive was not part of the storage pool. I added all 4 Exos disks to the pool at once (which I now regret) and for a month had no issues. Unfortunately, one of the Exos drives has since failed (My first hard disk failure in over 10 years and on a brand new disk). Thankfully, I had not migrated all data from various external and other hard disks to the server yet - so total consumption of the pool is only 9.08 TB (I have provided a screenshot below). Proposed Resolution To diagnose/ confirm the issue with the failed disk (and to send it back to Seagate for replacement) I need to delete the storage pool. First, I need to transfer my data from the pool. I bought another Seagate IronWolf Pro 10TB disk - connected it up and began migrating the data from the pool. My plan was to do the above, then recreate the pool with the 2 x 10 TB hard disks, then 2 x 16 TB hard disks. Then finally when Seagate sends me a replacement drive - to upgrade the pool with the other 2 drives. The Problem 7 TB of the 9.08 TB transferred without any issues. Today while transferring the remaining 2.08 TB - I noticed the transfer speed dropping to 0 and the suspected failed drive making some horrible noises. The transfer is now stuck and it seems the remaining data on the pool is unreadable. My Questions How can the data on the pool be unreadable? I have 6 disks in there - 1 set of 3 for useage and 1 set for mirror. Even with one drive down, the data should be mirrored on the other drives and fully readable. Am I missing something? Is there any other proposed resolution? To prevent this from happening again - would you have any suggestions? This is my first experience with Software RAID or RAID of any kind actually. Historically I have used a Drobo DAS for the last 6 years or so and never had a problem. Yours faithfully, The Gas Man
  14. Hello, so I had set up a storage pool on windows 10 using 3 2TB drives. It has been a year later, and my main C drive had failed. I proceeded to get a new SSD, and install windows 10. Installation process went smoothly, until I went to my storage devices. I can see the local disk F, and also the local disk C. But when I try to open F it asked me to format the disk. Now that is not an option as this disk was my back up. So then I go to storage spaces. In storage spaces I see the vault pool that I had set up with the capacities of 482 GB of 5.45 TB pool capacity. I can even see the physical drives and the storage space, you can see 8.67% used on each drive physically and there is an OK green checkmark next to all the drives. However I cannot access the information on these drives. has anyone else experienced this as well?
  15. Hi. I am having an issue with windows storage spaces or at least the way windows is displaying information. i have two 4tb hard drives in a pool which are mirrored. If I go into the storage spaces program it shows that my drives are full. It shows the total pool capacity as 7.26tb which I know is my two 4tb drives. Then underneath it shows each drive individually and here too it shows them both as full. However, if I go into This PC and look at the properties of the storage space there it shows it as having 3.63tb free of 7.26 which is clearly half of 7.26. So is windows treating the mirrored drive as a usable one instead of ignoring it as it should because it’s a redundant drive in a mirrored setup? If this is the car, how do I get around this issue? I don’t want to have to keep track of how full my drives are by going into storage spaces. I want it to show the correct figures in This PC.
  16. Ok i will start off by explaining the situation, Im a serious media junky/photographer/Videographer who keeps all his raws on Archive and want to add a layer of protection in instead of just using cold storage. I have a Large scale Plex library that i need Parity to give some fail over safety. Not got matching drives so rules Raid out in the normal sense. Currently running around 14TB of Media from 2x 8TB WD Golds with 44TB potentially available. Looked into FlexRaid, ZFS, UnRaid, Raid 1-5 as an option but haven't been able to settle on a hard decision. Windows Storage spaces certainly looks interesting, Next to no press coverage about it, Appears to have ability to add SSD's as a write cache and read speeds i would imagine would be absolutely fine as far as Plex goes on the network but not sure. I Cant justify a full custom server atm so need to make do with hot swap bays and my Lian Li Cube with Icydock hotswap drives (4x http://www.icydock.com/goods.php?id=157) and a 6x bay 2.5" enclosure (http://www.icydock.com/goods.php?id=151) If anybody has any good ideas as far as what would be best to maximise performance given my situation. For not my Drives are as follows: 2x 8TB WD Gold Enterprise 2x 6TB Seagate Enterprise 2x 4TB WD SE 2x 4TB WD Green 5x 2TB WD Green (currently in a drobo but can be transferred and made usable) Totally open to any advice given! Thanks!
  17. I'm hoping to get some help and/or ideas when it comes to storage servers. Right now I have my Plex server running on a dedicated Windows 10 machine. I have four WD Green 4TB drives set up in Windows Storage Spaces with redundancy. I also use my Storage Pool for data/document storage, not just media storage. I'm thinking about building a new Plex server in the next year or so, and I'm trying to come up with ideas for what would be the best fit for me. I watched this guy video; Dual Xeon 60TB Dedicated Plex Media Server - Meet Zeus ... and while it was impressive, I don't think I'll need something that bad ass! After that I found this thread; FreeNas Vs Unraid 6 in Linus's forum here, it was helpful! I guess to show what a newbie I am, my main question is; why/how is it better to use something like freeNAS, unRAID, NAS4free, or (fill in the blank) versus Windows 10 and Storage Spaces? Some have told me just to go with a QNap or Synology box ... but I guess I just like the idea of being able to customize the hardware??? Any thoughts on this one???? Thanks for all of your help and advice!!!!!
  18. Hi! I want to get people's opinion on how to proceed. At the moment, I've only got a 512gb m.2 nvme drive in my PC, and I'm looking for something to store game installs on that will have more space but not be grindingly slow. Now, I've been weighing two options: A) 2 HDDs in a simple Windows 10 Storage Space - This option has the marked benefit of being *cheap as hell*. I can pick up 2 1gb barracudas for like $120 and have a 2tb space. Another upside to this plan is the simple/striped setup should make up for (some) of the speed disadvantage that comes with mechanical HDDs. But that's one of my main questions - does anyone here have experience with a configuration like this? Because if the speed improvement isn't really noticeable then it makes this plan considerably less appealing. or B) Just getting an SSD. The same $120 from Plan A would buy me a lower-end 256gb SSD at the moment, and that's so, so much less storage but it's obviously going to be much faster, but it almost feels wasteful compared to Plan A, especially considering I've already got the solid state boot drive taken care of and game installs are friggin huge. I know that option C would be "stop being poor" but that one isn't on the table, unfortunately. Anyway, if anyone has experience with mechanical drives in simple storage spaces, I'd welcome any insight you might have to share! Also, I just realized I can attach a poll to this as well, so I'm doing that since it's more low-effort than having to type out a response.
  19. I've been using a Windows 8 desktop machine as a Media Center for a number of years (It used to be an XP machine, then a 7, now 8) that has been overhauled several times. It's storage has grown as needed and kind of organically. It ends up being a bit of a NAS as I have it configured with WOL and VPN for access remotely. This configuration gives me a balance of convenience and power consumption. Currently it's running a medium capacity SSD as the OS / primary drive, an internal mechanical, then a disaster of too many external drives (some using storage spaces for convenience but not in any sort of redundancy). Some are getting old enough that I'm starting to not trust their remaining life. This has to end. There isn't convenient room in the case to add more drives (Antec Fusion 430, brushed aluminum front and fits nicely in my Home Theater tower). It's been cut and chopped internally for various size motherboards running almost silently with a massive cooler master passive cooler and over spec'd EVGA modular power supply (so it doesn't run the fans). So storage external to the case is almost a necessity. I've been researching and investigating a number options and could use a suggestion of which way to go. I could create another server, I don't want to do that External Raid case, I get the impression these aren't great but that could be wrong. Filling a five drive case with 4tb drives seems ok. Pair up two 8tb archive drives and keep two copies of everything (maybe still with storage spaces for convenience). The price of this seems comparable to option 2 but simpler. They could go in one of the external enclosures that isn't RAID. Is there something else that I should be considering along the same ideas that I've been doing? Is this out to lunch and just wrong?
  20. Silly, potentially simple questions: I have two 5 TB drives running in two-way mirror configuration using Windows Storage Spaces (aka software RAID 1). If I added a third drive, is it possible to get a RAID 5 equivalent using WSS? I need more space but I don't want to give up the redundancy. If it's possible, would I need to break the two-way mirror, or could WSS transition directly from software RAID 1 to something different? Finally, does WSS care about using different size drives? Ex, could I get a 6 TB drive instead of a 5 TB?
  21. Fellow Techies, How do yall feel about using Win 8.1 Storage Spaces as a NAS? It will hold backups, photos, lots of docs, and a few other things. How reliable is it? If I should have to reinstall the OS can I recover the configuration and data? Thanks. I will probably use 8 drives total for storage.
  22. Question regarding windows storage spaces. I currently have two 4tb drives working together as a mirrored storage space and then two 2tb drives working together as a second mirrored storage space. I am thinking of combing the two so I have one storage space pool made up of 2 4tb drives and two 2tb drives (giving me a total of 6tb usable I hope) My question is this, if one of the 2tb drives fails will it only rebuild that drive from the other 2tb drive or will the entire storage space have to be rebuilt. I don’t see why it would need to touch the 4tb drives that, in this scenario, still work fine.
  23. I've got a Windows 10 storage spaces array of 4-8tb drives in my PC. I've got about 25tb data on the drives. I also have these drives attached through an PCIE to SATA 4 port card. I am looking to upgrade my processor and motherboard. Does anyone know if I can just hook the drives up to the new board and keep all my files? The drives would be attached to the new motherboard directly. Any help would be very helpful. Thanks
  24. edit: I want to do something like this (Drobo 5D3) on my existing Win10 machine without spending $700 TLDR: I'm trying to make a simple and cost-effective hybrid drive solution (fast and high capacity) for my mid-range gaming computer. I want to use Storage Spaces to make it work but as I understand it Win10 doesn't have support in the GUI to do this. I have 4x 2TB WD blue drives, a 250GB m.2 NVMe drives, 2 SATA SSDs (one is the system disk, the other I bought to use for caching with my onboard RAID controller) and 6 total SATA ports on my motherboard. After seeing just how bad Intel Rapid Storage Technology can be I've decided to try Storage Spaces in Windows 10. 4 disks set up with parity is already performing better than the raid controller on my motherboard. But I still want to add the SSD as a cache for the RAID. According to what I'm reading this is not supported in the GUI (link below). I may be able to use powershell to do this, but the example uses equal quantities of HDDs and SSDs to make it work. Nothing as simple as "assign 1 SSD to RAID as cache". So, can this be done with 1 SSD and 4 HDDs. Maybe I should just copy the game I want to play onto the NVMe or just buy a new Drobo with thunderbolt and be done with it.
  25. Hi there! Recently I set up a Parity Storage space consisting of 4 1TB + one 2TB HDD, for a total of 3TB usable capacity, in my dad's PC and mapped it as a network drive to the rest of our devices. The objective was to have a central backup storage location and share media files in the household. Aside from a lower-than-expected capacity, it works as intended, but the write speed s u c k s. I have a spare 500GB SSD that I want to combine with it to accelerate it and create a small tiered solution. Question is, what would be the best way about it? Option 1: Tiered Storage Spaces The machine is Windows 10 Pro, so it would require Powershell wizardry, but it can be done. I would have to offload around 2TB of data first and dismantle the current Storage Space (I assume), but I have the spare capacity on external drives. Option 2: Primocache The idea is to combine the "single drive" - Parity Storage Space - and the SSD. I'm not sure it would work, but it could be easier and without hassling with Powershell. Paid solution dependent on software Option 3: Stablebit Drivepool Same as Primocache, possibly more robust in terms of setting up the drive pool from scratch. Paid solution dependent on software Option 4: StoreMI Right now the PC is based on Intel Z77, but a Ryzen 3600 upgrade is planned for around the end of the year. What would be your recommendation?
