I have setup LanCache on a Ubuntu 20.04 system following the documentation on their website and a YouTube tutorial from BattleNonSense. I can see the docker of lancace_monolithic_1 and lancache_dns_1 running with "sudo docker stats". I set a static IP, outside of my routers DHCP range, on the Ubuntu system and set this IP as the DNS in Windows. The .env and docker-compose.yml files are configured to this settings. See below for my config files and screenshots of the IP and DNS settings. ipconfig /flushdns nslookup steam.cache.lancache.net nslookup lancache.steamcontent.com After i tried this in Windows, it still returned Steam's IPs not 192.168.178.10 from the Ubuntu system. I set the DNS in my router before, It didn't change anything and I prefer to set it in Windows. Do i have to do anything related to the ports in my system? I had synergy installed, to share mouse and keyboard, but removed it incase it messed with the network or ports for LanCache. I beleive synergy also uses port 443. I have had an unraid steam cache set up for just over 6months now, have all my steam games cached. I have setup a wired 2.5gig network in my home. No more crappy game download speeds. 100gig games download in 5mins or less. My server is an absolute disaster zone. I hide it behind my TV the livingroom, out of sight out of mind . Edit: i also have Pi-hole setup for my entire local network. No pesky adds!! regardless of device

Ubuntu 18.14 hyper/v Error: listen udp 192.168.50.239:53: bind: address already in use. Ive tried sudo nano /etc/dnsmasq.conf but there is nothing in the dnsmasq.conf How can i change the listen port ?

Ive followed this guide (with the update monothlic / lancache-dnses) Im running 2 vms, pihole and the steam cache. Ive set the dns on the steamcache to point at the pihole. Im using the pihole dns on my gaming rig. But when i download games from steam or blizzard. Its not caching, the steamcache is doing 0. Is it no longer possible to use caching?

Im trying to set up a steam cache server on a vm. But i cant ping the vm machine from my main computer. Whats wrong? The vm can connect to the internet on its own, but i cant ping it locally Im using hyper-v as virutalization. I have 2 vms running. 1 is running pihole. 2 (trying to run steamcache) - but i cant even ping it.... the dns on the steamcache is the pihole dns. Didnt help to change it to 1.1.1.1 Both are using the same viritual internet switch - is that the problem? The Steamcache IP shows up in router

So Im running 2 VMs on hyper-v 1. Pi-hole on debian 2. steamcache on ubuntu. But how can I use both, when there are 2 dns? My pihole has 192.168.50.200 steamcache has 192.168.50.237 Ive read something about upstream. Ive set the upstream on the steamcache to use 192.168.50.200 but it doesnt seem to do the trick. Im not so sure if the steamcache server is working how it should. How can i check that ? Is it possible to setup a SteamCache using a FreeNas server?

I am currently in need of an in home server for Minecraft. It needs to run 24/7 with about 10 to 20 people online. I was wondering if 2 e5645 cpu’s paired with 24gb ram be enough to run the Minecraft server and a small steam cache. I am not worried about the power, noise, or network connection.

Hello guys. Im trying to install steamcache to my Hyper-V debian vm machine. Ive followed a guide on youtube. But when i enter the command: sudo docker run --name steamcache-dns --restart=always -d -p 53:53/udp -e STEAMCACHE_IP=192.168.1.3 steamcache/steamcache-dns:latest I get this : Error response from daemon: Conflict, the container name is already in use by container. Hi everyone, I would like how to configure a SteamCache server in a RaspberryPi 4. My home architecture is this: n.1 modem/router Fritzbox 7590 n.1 raspberrypi 1 with pihole set as home network DNS in the modem n.1 raspberrypi 4 where I would like to set up a SteamCache server having an external USB HDD for cache storage I searched around but I did not found anything and I watched too LTT episode in Youtube but I did not help me much as PiHole was not involved. Hi everyone! I am tired having many drives to my pc and laptop and i want all in one solution. Some information about i want to do this project me and my wife we are photographers/videographes but also we playing games. I want to build a system to have my backups also a cloud system and if is possible a steamcache because our internet is slow. My first question is what cpu i need to support all this(plz not micro servers) i want to build it my own because meybe i buy a rack. Also if u want to tell me and the other parts to buy feel free to tell me. Second question is how to do it? Can i do this with docker? Never done this before so.. if you can point me to the right direction to read and learn more about And last i want to keep the electricity cost down and make it as cheap as possible without loosing performance of course. Sooooo... I decided to build my first NAS/Plex server/Steam cache storage thing and i need help. The goal is to have a NAS where i can put my files like photos, videos, ecc; Plex server that is capable of streaming 1-2 1080p videos; Steam cache library so i dont need to redownload games every time i want to play older games, and if possible use the same concept for other game platforms and windows updates. This is the hardware that i have laying around: CPU: Ryzen 1600 Mobo: MSI Pc-Mate b350 HDD: external 3.5TB seagate hdd (i'm planning to shred the enclosure and just use it as an internal hdd) PSU: idk which brand is it (maybe LC Power?) but it's 600w (the 120mm fan make some noise but i'm going to replace it) GPU: i've got an asus 270x 2gb, a gigabyte 260x or 265 (i dont remember) windforce3 2gb(?), and a powercolor 5750 768mb I'm planning to buy: 1x Seagate BarraCuda ST2000DM008 2TB 7200 RPM 256MB (i dont have much to spend right now, i'll buy more later/as needed) 1x Ballistix Sport LT Gray 4GB DDR4-2400mhz (it costs 20€ and it gets the system running) 1x Corsair Carbide 100R (it costs 50€, it's small enough to fit where i wnt to put the system, it has 4x3.5/2.5 and 2x5.25 and most impontartly my atx mobo fits inside) Potential Build: CPU: Ryzen 1600 MOBO: MSI Pc-Mate b350 RAM: 1x 4GB Ballistix Sport LT DDR4-2400mhz HDD: 1x 3.5TB seagate hdd 1x Seagate BarraCuda 2TB PSU: LC Power(?) 600w +fan mod CASE: Corsair Carbide 100R GPU: Asus 270x 2GB Direct CU2 Top Questions: 1) What do you think about the hardware ? 2) I wanted to use the 270x to help plex media transcoding but i've read somewhere that amd gpus arent that stable/do not perform well with plex, can someone confirm this ? 3) I'm thinking to use ubuntu/ubuntu server as OS, any other OS i should consider ? (keep in mind that i basically dont know anything about GNU/linux) 4) Is it possible to have the entire storage shown as a single drive without having to set up a raid ? 5) How does steam cache file management works ? I mean can it put games on different drives or i just point a folder and all the games get stored there ? 6) Down the line i'll be upgrading this NAS with more hdd, is there a method to have a raid 5 or raid 1 and add more drives to that raid ?
