as you guys may or may not know Samsung has removed their Steam Link app from their app store after November 30 2023 now I have no option to play PC game on my TV with extremely low latency and the two android set top box i tried have absolutely terrible latency even with Ethernet cable plugged in what devices/software i can use to let me play PC games on TV without unplugging my entire PC and carrying it's 10KG(probably) heft just to play forza for 1 hour on big TV (Steam Link app on Samsung's app store works extremely well, i literally cannot feel any latency and the only clue that tells me I'm using steam link is compression for streaming

I've been looking online for some device that can do these things: Stream platform like Disney+, Netflix, Amazon... Has USB ports Has an Ethernet Jack Stream using the Steam Link App at 1080p 60 fps, say 30-70 Mbit/s The obvious choice is the Nvidia Shield TV 4K but at $200 there has to be something cheaper available, and that's what I'm trying to find! I'm considering buying a device like this: https://www.amazon.com/4K-Ultra-HD-Android-Box/dp/B07NGKQB88/ref=sr_1_1?tag=at88-20&dchild=1&keywords=Ematic Jetstream&qid=1600753482&sr=8-1&geniuslink=true My biggest concern with this is whether the hardware is enough to run steam link smoothly. There seems to be practically no information or comparison among various devices and hardware schemes aside from the odd Reddit post saying "Nvidia shield works best." Does anyone know about this subject and how has your experience using Steam link on a dedicated Android TV stick/box been?

Would the quality of streaming be better if hooked up with a 2.5gbps connection vs traditional 1gbps? would resolution be better or anything?

How do I setup remote play anywhere steam link from one PC to another PC NOT on my home network? I cannot find a single guide describing the steps on how to do so. I can get it working on my home network but have no clue how to do so for one PC to another that is outside my home for remote play co-op.

So I have 2 PCs (more info in my signature) and basically Instead of having to manually switch inputs (KVM/Monitor) I was wondering if there was a way to stream the desktop's output to the laptop, I've tried connecting them directly together over ethernet with Steam in home streaming but it will not go above 60fps (or maybe 72fps, either way the game normally runs at over 140 fps but when streaming it it's capped at 72 (probably V-Sync)). Parsec for some reason is completely useless (It normally works fine but setting it 144hz just kills it, there is several seconds of latency and compression artifacts everywhere. Any Ideas?

Sup folks, I recently picked up a Steam Controller and Steam Link for cheap and was eager to try it. I unfortunately have to use wireless as getting an ethernet cable to my room is nearly impossible. However, my Internet is very much up to standards but despite that the results are dreadful. When testing my connection using the Steam Link it keeps displaying the same error message, "frame loss 100%" and says my internet might not be usable for Link. Even turning down all settings to optimize performance doesn't work at all. Here are my internet specs if you need them:Router:Fritzbox fon WLAN 7580Internet speeds:Ping: 36Download: 32.3 Mbit/sUpload: 22.3 Mbit/sDoes anyone know how I can improve streaming performance with the Link? Again, ethernet is unfortunately no option.Signal strength is good in my room and the aforementioned speed tests have been done in said roomThanks in advance!! Regards, TJ

Threadripper VM Server to Multi-Steam Link TVs?
Taldren posted a topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
Is it possible to set up a Threadripper system with multiple video cards and assign each of the cards out to a VM for use over multiple steam links to separate TVs throughout the house? The use case here is that I can provide a HTPC experience to every TV in my house on a single system that I would also use as my main system for gaming/productivity. The plan would to have 2x 2 Core VMs for my living room & bed room connected via Steam Link (Plex, Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, ect), 1x 4 Core VM for my entertainment room connected via Steam Link (Steam games, Plex, Neflix, ect), and 8-Core dedicated to my personal office which would be directly connected to the server box. Any blockers or challenges I should be aware of?- 11 replies

Hi all, I could use some help as I'm just about to pull my hair out on this one. I can't seem to get my Steam Link and Desktop to talk to each other. Every time it says "The Remote Steam Client is offline." I've tried the following steps: Changed connectivity on both sides from wired to wireless. No luck. Disabled Windows firewall Disabled AV software Added steam to the firewall exceptions list Factory reset the Link Updated the Link to the latest version Rebooted both devices Restarted my networking devices Reinstalled Steam Used a different router Tried different ethernet cables Deleted and re-added my PC Updated GPU drivers Set network to Private I've tried everything i can think of to get them to play nice, but I have run out of ideas. The Link is visible on the network that my desktop is connected to but isn't seen at all by the Steam client. The main network in question has no internet connection due to geograpical restrictions. Any suggestions?

I've just received and set up my shiny new Steam Link because it was on sale. My PC is in my room, and my router is downstairs. My PC is wired to my router via Powerline, and steam link is Ethernet directly to the router. Except for the Powerline adaptor (which is 500Mb/s), everything in the chain is gigabit. I'm experiencing a lot of dropouts and latency issues with the steam link when using to play Dirt 3 (all I've tested so far). I'm using the router supplied by my ISP (BT home hub 5). My question is really, what can I do to improve performance? My initial thought was get a new router, but I wanted to check this is probably the source of the issue, before I go shelling a load of money on a new router. Anyone experienced anything similar on the home hub 5 and found a new router solved their problem? Thanks!

As a result of the current summer steam sale I decided to buy a Steam Link for $15 plus Abzu and Fallout 4 for $20. I've already played thru abzu (and I recommend it) and I've already begun modding the hell out of fallout, but I'm eager to try using my steam link. If anyone has purchased a Steam Link in the past how long does it usually take to arrive Also, What shipping company does valve use? (I'm from America)

So I'm thinking about getting a steam link for Christmas so I can play co-op games with friends in my basement, but the problem is that I don't have any xbox controllers but I have 4 PS4 controllers. So I just wanted to confirm whether those work or not or if I should blow $100 on xbox controllers. Also there's no Ethernet in my basement but I have a 5ghz router so I'm hoping that's good enough.

So i bough the link for 20 dollars and it's coming soon. I have around 200mbs down and 10mbs up. I usually get around 30=50 mbs down and 8mbs up when I'm down stairs. Is that enough for 1080p 60fps. I'd also like to see other peoples experience with the box as well. How well does it work and what are things I should be concerned about?

I have a gaming pc and ps4 in my office. My wife and I play games together so I will grab my 2015 macbook pro and sit with her in the living room and stream the game to my laptop. Every 2 or 3 minutes the picture and sound will drop down to about 4 or 5 frames per second and glitch out like crazy for 5 seconds or so. I'll list the troubleshooting steps I have taken below. 1. Updated the router to the latest firmware. 2. Run a wifi analysis to be sure it's not congested (using 5Ghz about 7 ft from the router and I'm the only one on the channel) 3. Installed remote play and steam on another mobile device and streamed via wifi (with zero lag spikes). So clearly the problem is limited to the macbook's wifi. Is there anything about the way OSX handles wifi that would cause lag spikes like that? BTW both my PC and PS4 in the office are tethered with ethernet.

Recently upgraded my GPU to a 2080 Ti and was trying steam link with Resident Evil 2 Remake and have run into some issues. The game doesn't look to be 4K compared to my 4K LG monitor it looks terrible. My TV is a 2018 Samsung and which supports streaming Steam in 4k. At the screen on steam link app before you select which PC to connect to the settings were on 'Balanced' and 1080P so I changed them to 'Beautiful' and 4K. When I select my PC to connect to and Big Picture Mode shows up on TV I go to the settings there and the 'Target Resolution' is 1080P with no 4K option to select. Also in Big Picture Mode settings it detects my GPU as 2080 Ti 3GB I ran the game without Big Picture Mode and with an FPS counter enabled and noticed the game still looks graphically poor and is also running at 20FPS whereas when I play only on my monitor it shows FPS as 60.

I am trying to buy a wireless controller. I was one that will natively work without an adapter on windows 10 steam gaming and also the steam link. Any suggestions?

What I'm trying to do is setup the steam link app on my phone to work with my at home desktop running steam, but while I'm away. I think this should be possible, but haven't been able to get it working successfully. I realise the experience won't be very good, I'm mostly just trying to do this for survival games like ark where I'm just needing to log in during a certain time frame to complete a simple task and log back out. If anyone has done this, or can help me find the required info to accomplish it it would really help me out a lot.

Hi guys, What ways are best to stream games? So I have used Steam Link via Google Play store and it works fantastic my only issue is the phone screen is to small to read text. So what would be the best way to essentially use "Steam Link" but control it and video out on my Surface Pro 7? The Setup: I have an office where my work / gaming PC is its wired network and my Surface pro will be in my bedroom for late night gaming Via 5GHZ WiFi. Any suggestions would be great. P.S. I have used Nvidia Geforce NOW while it works okay, its just way easier and more reliable to use my main PC as the host and renderer.

Hello Everyone, I apologize if this has already been answered but i couldn't find an answer on my own. I'm looking for a simple solution (as cheap as possible) that would alllow me to stream any game from my PC to the TV in the living room. I would like to play some simple games with my GF like Crash Bandicoot or some single player like The Witcher 3. No fast games or multiplayer (for that i prefer to use my PC). If possible play games through emulators (to play PSX games). I already own an XBOX Controller. I Would buy a second one (compatible with the solution i would pick). Solutions compatible with wireless controllers would be better, but i'm ok with going "wired". Thank you in advance for any answer, Cheers, Mike

I played this game but never finished it on X360...then I bought the PC release on Steam and never played it. After buying the remastered version on PS4...I played for about 2 hours...and decided to finally setup my Steam Link and play the PC version instead. No ability to change the spoken language? Deal-breaker. Sure there's slightly better lighting and a bit less texture pop-in on the remastered version...but that's nothing compared the sheer modifying joy I get out the PC version. I'm cheating outrageously on the PC version and have stuck another 45 hours into the game. The annoyances with the battle system? They're still there, but I can fix it with Necifur's trainer...and it's still hard. I'm having way more fun by cheating...so I guess I'm one of those people.
