Heya! I'm currently looking at selling off a pc but I'm unsure what it's worth. Specs: • Cooler Master elite 335 • Hyper 212 Evo • Gigabyte ga-ep43t-usb3 • Intel q8400 • 2x2gb ddr3 1333 sticks • Gigabyte gtx 550ti • 450w thermaltake PSU • 320gb hard drive • 2x fractal r2 series silent fans (1 front 1 on the 212) I was thinking around $350 aud. Does that sound about right? Cheers!

There isn't much information provided on the site to inform us about this countdown however there is a small paragraph that reads: Which quite evidently suggests that the Steam Box will be announced. I think that the Steam box will be quite a way to allow more less PC oriented gamers to get one and use it as their gaming device. What do you guys think it may be? Do you think if a Steam box was affordable you would get it? Is it a good idea? Also a thing to note the countdown is only under the first circle which could mean that we will have a wave of announcements with in a given time one after another. The PC I have found an old hp s3320br lying around my father’s office, it is a very small HP PC, and I want to transform it in a Steam Machine in the future. But my project for now is to still use Windows (I can use ubuntu, but probably wouldn't be able to install Steam OS right now) . The specs of the PC are: Motherboard: Irvine (HP-Foxconn LGA775 with Nvidia 7100 integrated graphics and nForce 630i chipset CPU: Intel Pentium E2140 (dual core @1.6Ghz) Ram: 1x1Gb DDR2 533Mhz Lan: Realtek 10/100 Mb/s HD: WD 320GB 7200rpm ODD: Random DVD R/W Card Reader 15 in 1 PSU: HP 160W The case uses a standard 5.25" ODD, 2 USB (2.0) and have a 15 in 1 card reader, not bad The phone is a Nexus 4 for size comparison. So I have decided to build a "steam box" for in my living room. I have pretty much decided on my case: Silverstone Grandia GD05B unless someone can suggest something that is as good looking and a similar form factor and price as this. Don't need usb3 on the front. motherboard I was thinking of getting a cheap b85 matx board from either gigabyte or asus(sale dependent at time of purchase). CPU I'm leaning towards a haswell i5 4430. GPU thinking of a 7870. With 8 GB 1333 MHz g.skill ram. Thinking of putting in a Noctua NH-L9i or Thermalright AXP-100 for cooling. PSU probably a 500W sliverstone or antec because cheap high quality units. Wont be needing a sound card as ill be using optical audio then my surround system. Any changes you would recommend if so what. Remember price is important on this. Thanks for any and all help.

I will be going to college in the fall away from my home town of Albuquerque, New Mexico and I thinking about building a small, steam box like PC to take with me. I am in need of something to game on at college, but have not decided whether or not to build a small PC or just buy a gaming laptop. I think it might be too much of a hassle to transport a monitor and PC equipment every time I want to come home for an extended period of time. Let me know if you have any advice regarding this decision. I will be using it for 1080p gaming and some light editing and CAD software, and my budget is $1000 to $1250 including the os. Hi everyone, just wanted to check my thoughts around the Steambox/Steam machine concept. All the examples I have seen seem to be rigged with high end GPU's which isn't the approach I was thinking of taking at all. I thought it could be used similar to Nvidia Shield, where it can be used to stream from a powerful machine, through the steambox onto your TV? I thought its OS with a Media Center component (hopefully a really good one or a skinned XBMC) paired with the ability to play games or stream games from a beefier machine. Am I wrong in my interpretations of the SteamBox?

I've had this design in mind for a very long time, but I never got to the point of trying to actually scratch build a case like this. But with the recent gain in popularity of parallel mounted GPUs (aka steambox, falcon northwest tiki, bolt), I wanted to hash this idea again. I was wondering if people with experience scratch building could point me to some resources? My best bet right now is just 3D printing the whole thing at our school's MakerBot lab. However, I would really like it if I could make it out of brushed aluminum as depicted. So after last WAN show it's safe to say that we all agree Forbes reporting pc gaming news is kinda ignorant. Now Forbes is not a bad company or anything an their writers are alright. They just don't know what they are talking about. At some point they had a meeting an decided that their majority now includes pc gamers, which they probably do. Forbes caters to men ranging from 20-50, an most guys 12-40 game in some way. These articles are old but they haven't been brought up. this link takes you to a article from 01/24/14 Writer Gordon Kelly bashes on Steam OS with nothing but opinions an no facts. If you scroll down you will find even more articles bashing Steam OS, all with very little facts. If Forbes is going to start reporting gaming news they need to hire better freelance writers.
