Does anyone know how to optimize avx/avx2 emulation using intel's sde.exe? (software development emulation) Using the sde program, I was able to start and play star citizen. (I use that game as a base test for avx emulation) The problem is that the game plays at one frame per minute. Any ideas, alternate programs and/or a different method of doing this would be great. And I would love a reply. P.S. I know this topic is useless to most people but I think it's cool to see if it can be done, And I'm sure it would help people with old xeons.

So title says most of it. The bottleneck only shows up when inside. Also my i7 6700K is overclocked to 4.8Ghz. my GPU is a EVGA GTX 1080 FTW ACX and it's got +120Mhz to the clock and +350Mhz on the memory. I know it's a CPU bottleneck since GPU utilisation is only 30% and I'm getting 20-30 fps. Also CPU usage is rather high. in the mid seventies to eighties. TLDR: heavy CPU bottleneck in Star Citizen i7 6700K@4.8Ghz GTX 1080 FTW +120/+350

Star Citizen is letting people play for free until October 30th To get access to the game, you need to create or sign into an account. Once you have done that use the promo code "FALL2016" which will allow you to download and play Star Citizen. This can be done on the promotion's page. Everyone who join during the free to play period gets an F7C-M Super Hornet (pictured below). It has some serious firepower and is a two seat spaceship for you and your friends to play.

I know I am late to the party, I had friends who pushed Star Citizen for ages before it was in alpha/beta and they prepurchased into it. I've lost contact with them and am now curious about the state of the game. Is it worth getting into or should I continue waiting until it gets further along in development. I missed starting in E.V.E. Online back when it was new (and I just kept putting it off and putting it off) and am finding myself longing for a game like this. The one big put off I had was the P2W aspect of the game. Are there any alternatives worth playing today in the meantime?

Also, it is worth more (real monies) just in case you decide to upgrade [NOT NEEDED]. Blurb You've bought or thought about buying Star Citizen. You look in the store and what do you see? Too many packages! Star Citizen is a complex game with an even more complex store (that really should be fixed CIG)! I'm making this post to help all you newcomers out there so that way you don't have to flounder through the stuff that stands between you and your new game, but first, we need to clear some things up. Basic Package Info There are two games involved here: Squadron 42, the standalone singleplayer game, that ties directly into Star Citizen, which is the Persistent Universe (PU) which is the large-scale universe, massive multiplayer part of the game universe. They are tied together but that does not mean you need to have both in order to play either. Every single copy of Star Citizen (The PU) comes with a ship. These are called game packages and they range from $45 all the way up to $15,000 (What?!). You can, however, buy ships that do NOT come with the game (either Squadron 42 or Star Citizen). Please be aware that the package split has already happened. In case you are unaware, the game Star Citizen, the multiplayer PU, is not going to include the standalone title Squadron 42 (singleplayer campaign-esque thingy), which costs an additional $15 [redundant]. The campaign will have ties to the PU, including starting money, status, and npc relationships but it is neither detrimental nor necessary [also redundant]. In terms of starter ships, you can either pick the Aurora MR or Mustang Alpha "starter" packages that include the ship, some UEC (In-game currency down the line), and a hangar, as well as a few more tidbits, for $45. [You can currently buy a starter package that comes with the Aurora MR or Mustang Alpha with both SQ42 and SC.] Be aware, however, that you can always upgrade from these ships if you get a case of ship-lust and just have to have a ship, without damaging your package OR INSURANCE and only changing the ship (This does, however, mean that you don't get the additional stuff that comes with the "standalone" version of the ship). You cannot at this time downgrade your ship to get store credit without "melting" your entire package (If you do decide to melt your package, you have one buy-back guaranteed for the price you purchased it at). Insurance Info You will notice, when observing your potential package, that there is an insurance length (3 months most likely). This is an in-game/PU mechanic that will be implemented. It has not been implemented yet. It will act as the means through which you can recover a ship that has been destroyed or lost. You will be able to renew your insurance for a nominal fee in-game (when it has been implemented). Now, now, I know what you're thinking: "Wait! What if my insurance runs out when I lose my ship!" Well... You'd lose it. Now, now, I know what you're thinking: "Wait! I payed for that with real monies!" Well... you can always fix that in-game. You can crew a ship, do odd-jobs, and other missions to earn enough UEC to get a new ship. Yes, your ship will be unfortunately lost (Unless LTI), but it should not keep you grounded for too long. Remember: no risk, no reward. Some Upgrade Paths Most people, when upgrading from these ships, if you pick the Aurora, is Aurora MR -> Aurora LN (More militarized version; great all-around ship) -> Avenger Titan/Variants (Better handling and also a good all around ship) -> TO INFINITY! If you choose the Mustang Alpha -> Mustang Beta (Exploration ship; think camper) -> Larger exploration ship | -> Avenger Titan/Variants -> TO INFINITY! OR just do whatever you want... B-b-but the Ship-Lust is too Strong! All that it means is that the insurance (that automatically comes with ships nowadays anyway) doesn't ever go away forever. And its "free" (You're still paying for the ship) This is not a game-breaking/making feature that could cripple you. It is good for providing an extra layer of piece of mind. Remember, as stated above, insurance will not be a debilitating cost towards your ship maintenance. That's about it... I think... Does anyone know where I can find an upgraded USER.cfg file to improve fps in Star Citizen in the 2.4 PTU. I'm finding the Frames Per Second to be utterly terrible. Like I am probably averaging somewhere between 17 and 20. I understand that this game is in its early stages and things haven't been optimized, but I shouldn't be having the problems with my system.

If so, any advice on what to change and what to change it to. I'm not great with PC hardware or do anything much with PC bench-marking or overclocking so any tips or help is much appreciated. I had a slight suspicion that it could be a bottleneck issue as someone with a GTX 770 can run this game perfectly fine but another with a GTX 970 cannot. I assumed this would either be a CPU or Motherboard problem. My memory usage is fine and my GPU usage is moderate so I didn't have any doubts about that. Can someone confirm this for me? - Thanks!

This is my current build FX-8350 8Gb RAM AMD 7850 Asrock 990FX extreme 3 The rig works well for the stuff I'm doing now, mainly gaming vanilla WoW, Crusader Kings II and Skyrim, it can max all of them so I haven't got any reason to upgrade. However I'm very hyped for Starcitizen and unfortunately I can't get it past 20-30fps on the lowest settings. So I'm wondering if I should just get a much better graphics card, or split it between a graphics card and an intel processor and motherboard. How much will the FX-8350 bottleneck the expensive graphics card? I've heard that Starcitizen is very CPU intensive, the recommended system specs doesn't even mention AMD. I prefer to use AMD because I like to root for the underdog, but since they don't really have any answer to Intel I guess I have to go that way.

Could someone list the game price and prices for ships. Also what system would you need to run star citizen at a steady frame rate.

Hey guys, I need a sound advice: I have this 3 way crossfire system, with 3 r9 280 gpu's. I am a real sim lover and am currently playing DCS World and Star Citizen. The problem is that I can't seem to use this multi-gpu system IN ANY WAY!!! In dcs, I know that there is no current support for the old DX9 graphics based angine and that I need to wait for the much anticipated DCS 2 release sometime this year hopefully. In Star Citezen tough – I am really pissed from the lack of REAL LIFE support for a 2 or even 3 way gpu system. It is supposed to inherently work flawlwssly since it is based on CRY ENGINE, DX 11 (or is it 11.5?), MANTLE and what not. I have 2 screens; one is a 42" for actual gaming and the second one is a 17" designed for testing purposes. When using AMD Monitor app, only the first GPU is working at 99%, while the other two are sitting idle at 0%. I get around 30fps in hangar, but it is driving me up the f#ucking wall!!! I have a specialized profile in CCC enabled, I've made sure the Crossfire is 3 way and turned on by default and in the specific profile. I'm running the latest Catalyst 15.5 BETA (I've also tried the 14.4 as well), windows 8.1 64 bit edition and… and… Oh, yeah – I've tried to program the multi gpu setting in the CONSOLE in-game with an error message "unrecognized command" or something of that sort. Hello LTT Forum my current pc is a quite a few years old now and starting to think about starting to upgrade it, i haven't really got a budget yet but want to keep it to the same sort of level as my current hardware was when i first brought it, i think i will be rekitting out the whole cooling system and replacing all the fans to to make it ultra quiet, considering water cooling with a 120mm rad to. my main uses for my computer is university work, casual gaming but when i want to have it totally 1080p maxed out and have totally brought into star citizen so really wanna run that at max settings at 50-60 FPS standard currently have: AMD 6100 sapphire HD 6950 2GB 8GB ram at 1333MHZ thermaltake frio cpu cooler with corsair SP120 fans coolermaster scout 2 case (def keeping this case) thinking about getting intel i5, but i don't know which one bang for buck motherboard nvidia 970 anyone have any better suggestions, i think i want a change in cooler scheme to, any ideas, want it to be unique but suttle cheers any better suggestions

I am planning on getting into Star Citizen and was wondering which ship should I get. I plan to be a mercenary, pirate, and trader and would like to have lots of guns. I am looking more towards multi-crew ships so me and my mates can play together. I don't want to spend more then 150usd. Also would a r9 280 and fx8320 be able to handle it on a Rift?
