Okay people! The guys over at RSI have opened up organisations finally! Lets get this ball rolling. The ideas I've got going ATM is a Syndicate based organisation, that's a lot less rigid and more fluid than anything available. (I just like the idea of military-like rankings) The basic idea is that there will be groups, such as mining group or a piracy group, those would have an elected representative, who will sit on a general council which will, in turn be run by a high council. a basic diagram :

Star Citizen is a space MMO, crowdfunded project that has accumulated over $600 million and has been in development for over a decade now with no release date in sight. Although the Alpha has some interesting points, the game’s development hell has attracted a ton of controversies over the years. The Space genre is currently booming due to Starfield and more games like Star Wars Outlaws on the way. It’s the perfect time for Star Citizen to land among all the existing popularity. Over the years, Star Citizen has accumulated insanely high expectations, and the more time it takes, the higher fans’ demands and expectations will go For contrast, i started these threads as back as a decade ago on this forum, i recall people defending and being angry at the posts regarding Star Citizen's critique saying that it is common for a game to take years of development, do people still have the same belief? source : https://exputer.com/exputer/star-citizen-600-million-no-release/

Hey everyone! I was recommended posting here after mentioning the performance issues I was having in Star Citizen. First off my system specifications: GPU is a RX 580 8 GB CPU is a Ryzen 5 1600 I have 16 GB Ram And 1 SSD as well as 2 HDDs I am also on Windows 10 Alright, so I've been having quite severe performance issues for a few years now (I got this rig sometime in ~2016), beginning with Minecraft, where I was unable to run the game with shaders at more than very unstable 40 FPS. Now for some reason I can run shaders just fine at smooth 70 FPS now, which I assume is due to an update to optifine, I still get massive lag spikes in MC, with or without shaders. Now more recently: I've been playing a lot of Star Citizen and I noticed that when moving the game to my SSD it took up over 120 GB despite the file being only ~72 GB. CP 2077 did the same thing for a while. I temporarily fixed that issue by reinstalling windows, it is now back though. Aside from that I get less than stellar fps, at about 15 to 30. Other people with the same setup seem to be able to play the game normally, whilst I can hardly dock a ship without crashing. And my CPU and GPU aren't even close to 100%. I have tried nearly every trick I could find: power settings, optimizing windows and Radeon software, reinstalling, overclocking, etc... Currently I am running the game at a lower resolution with AMD sharpening, min settings, affinity set to what this guide recommends (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/50174/thread/developers-hate-this-boost-your-ryzen-performance-) and having the game set to high priority. I am getting ~25 fps in the station but very unstable FPS everywhere else that range from 15-40. I would like to add that I can play Battlefield 5, Anthem, Valheim, rdr2, CP2077, and any other game just fine. Or at least not drastically worse than expected. Thank you for reading, I hope you have a great day! - Demo

1. Budget & Location United States $200-300, though I could go a higher if it is a better investment. Looking to buy on Amazon if possible. 2. Aim Upgrading my PC for gaming on stuff like Star Citizen, Squad, and Tarkov, but with better performance at 70 FPS without hardware-based freezes/frame drops, and at least average graphical settings (I need to run lower and lower settings to get 60 FPS nowadays). 3. Monitors I only have one ASUS monitor at 1920 x 1080, listed in specs below. I have used it since 2011 and it keeps on running fine except for 1-2 dead pixels. I am not looking into getting into 4k or anything high level like that for now. 4. Peripherals I already have a good Corsair K95 keyboard and Sabre mouse, so I am good for now. 5. Why are you upgrading? I want to upgrade my setup the most cost-effective way possible. I am thinking of getting a better graphics card, but I don’t know if that is my biggest bottleneck for getting better performance. I am beginning to have to run games at the lowest graphical settings to keep a good 50-60 FPS and am beginning to encounter short graphical freezes/stuttering once in a while (too little VRAM?). I’m looking for advice on where I should pour money first (GPU?) and if there are any major bottlenecks in my system (CPU too old?). If upgrading my GPU is the answer then what is the best NVIDIA card in the $200-300, $300-400, and $400-500 ranges? If the GPU isn’t the biggest issue, then where is my bottleneck and what do you recommend? Thanks guys for your help! For years I've been reading about star citizen but have some questions: 1. I understand there will be a persistent universe. Will each planet be unique or is it going to be a copy and paste job like the travesty of No Mans Sky? 2. How dense will the planets be in terms of cities and things to see and do? 3. Do we know how many missions and that type of content the developers are shooting for? Is this going to be the focus? Any other cool info you have in addition to the above will help me in determining if I pledge and how much I pledge. Thanks!

http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/237434-star-citizen-single-player-delayed-indefinitely Cloud Imperium Games, makers of the sprawling, controversial, and long-delayed space simulator/FPS shooter/single-player space combat title known as Star Citizen, announced the game’s single-player campaign, Squadron 42, will be delayed indefinitely. The reason is simple: With so much left undone, there are huge chunks of the single-player campaign yet unfinished. CIG had originally promised Squadron 42 would ship in 2016, but it’s now clear there’s no way that could happen. The fact that the company has yet to announce a new shipping date isn’t particularly promising, either. I and many others have been warning you from the beginning. This is a Ponzi Scheme. Stop giving away your money on a project they do not have any intention of finishing! They are taking it in while not increasing staff. It's OBVIOUS!

source: application-pdf.pdf this is nuts! CiG got 150mil$ just from crowdfunding, 25 times more than their initial goal, and still they need more that loan must be a hell lot of money for CiG to put everything on the table - they're either very confident or utterly retarded and if I'm reading the document right, Cotts&Co will own everything if CiG will miss a single pay - I wonder what the backers are thinking now; I don't understand how so many people still trust CiG ... --- for the people who can't be bothered to use google and search who / what this is all about Star Citizen - game in development at Cloud Imperium Games (CiG) under the leadership of Chris Roberts; the game should be the spiritual successor of Wing Commander Foundry 42 - CiG's subsidiary in UK, also taking part in the game's development Coutts&Co - part of the The Royal Bank of Scotland group, it's a private financial institution (bank) --- CiC posted some clarification: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/1/thread/re-uk-tax-rebate-advance-for-foundry-42/277779 but begs the question: if that money was coming anyway, why take a loan? did they needed that influx of cash that badly? and why put everything as collateral if that tax rebate is a guarantee

I want to show off Star Citizen to some more of my friends and was looking for a short(ish) video that sums it up the best and shows the best it currently has to offer as well as the scope of the game for the future. Does anyone have any suggestions about which is currently the best video as an advertisement for the game?

So as some of you may or may not know, there is quite an extensive Wiki that has been set up for Star Citizen. It has everything from an archive of all the production schedule reports to information on the infamous lunch button, and everything in between. Like any other Wiki we are always looking for people to help make it bigger and better. Since the project is still in its infancy, editing can currently only be done by approved users. If you'd like to help out, just create an account on the Wiki and join us on Discord to get an admin to approve your account. If you want to know more, check out the latest progress update posted on r/starcitizen. See you all in the 'verse!

I've only played 10 or so minutes of Star Marine having just finished downloading the game, but there are a few things I noticed. 1. The game seems to constantly write to my HDD at about 5 to 15 MB/s, or at least that's what task manager is showing. Is this normal? 2. I've got it on low graphics settings already, but it chugs a little bit because my CPU is getting up to almost 100% usage (i5-4460). It's perfectly fine and smooth most of the time, but occasionally blips and freezes. Is there any way I can help this a bit? 3. The motion blur. I hate any and all motion blur. Can I disable it in any way?

So I bough in to Star Citizen a long time ago, possibly before Elite: Dangerous which I bought into around October of 2014. And I was just wondering if Star Citizen is worth downloading right now? I played it for a while when it was just the racing and hangers but I obviously got bored very quickly. Then I played it when I could actually fly around and fight stuff, then again when it was actually multiplayer but its never been that fun for me. But I love Elite: Dangerous even if it does get a bit boring I just like the community stuff, lore and the gameplay. Now to me Star Citizen is a lot more "realistic" with their flying and damage stuff which for me is meh because I like arcade stuff like Elite. Does Star Citizen have enough stuff that it would be worth it to download? Is there an actual open or semi open world to play in? Any cool stuff about the game that would help me get back into it would be great thanks!

RSI (Roberts Space Industries), the development house behind Star Citizen, has just announced it will be opening up its in-house development schedule to the prying eyes of the public, esp. their backers, to combat a lot of the mistaken or out-of-context timing and scheduling announcements people bandy about. On the website will be a constantly adjusting and live, to within a week or so, development schedule with all the pitfalls and delays bare for all to witness. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/schedule-report Good to see they are trying to keep transparent about the massively red-shifting release date and I hope this keeps all sides on an even keel, but for the naysayers it doesn't do much to guarantee the return on investment aside from removing all the middlemen and fog of war from the schedule as we, the public, understands it.

I know I am late to the party, I had friends who pushed Star Citizen for ages before it was in alpha/beta and they prepurchased into it. I've lost contact with them and am now curious about the state of the game. Is it worth getting into or should I continue waiting until it gets further along in development. I missed starting in E.V.E. Online back when it was new (and I just kept putting it off and putting it off) and am finding myself longing for a game like this. The one big put off I had was the P2W aspect of the game. Are there any alternatives worth playing today in the meantime?

Mods: Posting this here in case it could be a Tech News topic. Cloud Imperium games recently sent a Letter from the Chairman (Chris Roberts) email to its backers confirming the news that they had reached the $200 million (USD) crowdfunding threshold and broken through. In the email they both announced upcoming features and reiterated their commitment to their die-hard fans. https://www.dualshockers.com/star-citizen-budget/ Official site: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/funding-goals This goal was broken preceding the announced free play week. This week in fact (week of the 18th). Some snippets from the email: ------------------------ "The amount is the highest total for any project in the history of crowdfunding and is beyond anything I could have imagined in my wildest dreams. While the number is impressive, that is not what sets Star Citizen and Squadron 42 apart. The true celebration is one of how a community came together to enable a shared dream to come to life. How gamers from all over the world came together to finance one of the biggest and most ambitious projects ever embarked on. There is no publisher. No big conglomerate. This is all grassroots, funded by gamers for gamers." ------- "We give you multiple updates every week and have been since the inception of the project. This year we rolled out a live roadmap for Star Citizen’s development that is linked to our internal task and scheduling system and shows the planned features and content for the next four upcoming releases of Star Citizen Alpha. This December, we will also add the roadmap for Squadron 42’s completion." ------------- "This milestone is coming at a very exciting time for the project having just released Star Citizen Alpha 3.3 with Object Container Streaming (OCS) and Client Bind Culling, which makes a huge difference in client performance and memory usage. Face over IP (FOIP) is in the community’s hands and is proving to be a game changer. No other game has the ability to drive your avatar’s face and look via a webcam, as well as to place your voice diegetically inside the game. The possibilities for social interactions inside the world of Star Citizen now mirror what you can do in the real world. Lastly, with ship purchasing live in 3.3, we have a full game loop with basic progression, where you have a reason to haul cargo, take missions or mine. This week marks the start of our 2948 Anniversary Event, which celebrates the end of the original crowdfunding campaign back in November 2012. This year we are particularly excited by our Free Fly event where we are opening the opportunity to try out the 80 flyable ships and vehicles in game. Star Citizen Alpha 3.3.5, which brings a lot more content, including the planet of Hurston, it’s moons and the major landing zone Lorville, is currently in PTU and should be Live in the next few days." ---------------------------------------- :: End email snippets Of course, the constant scope creep and reworks due to engine changes and new features being implemented have pushed everything past expected completion dates, but the constant stream of updates and announcements at least keeps me hopeful, personally. It's looking pretty good so far with what we can play with in the various alpha builds. It will be interesting to see how much longer development will take until Cloud Imperium Games considers Star Citizen to embody their stated goals of a persistent living universe, and how long it takes for an official full release announcement. Also...how much larger could that crowdfunding number continue to grow?

I want to buy an optimized PC for the highest FPS in VR. I use it mainly for DCS: WORLD and Star Citizen. I try to build a killer system, but budget smart as well: I currently can't decide between a pure gaming rig like the Z370 + Intel 8086K that will sacrifice scalability and expandability like more GPU's, extra USB ports, RAID CPU connected NVMe SSD's. The Z370 can support only X16 PCIe lanes and I'm afraid that X2 GTX 1080ti's will saturate the X8 connections then. And what will happen if I'll connect 2 M.2 drives in RAID? Alternately I could get a workstation PC like the X299 chipset with a THREADRIPPER X1950 or a Core i9 with all the shebang and extra cores, but lose valuable FPS and paying a much higher price for this setup. P-L-E-A-S-E HELP ME FIGURE IT OUT...... some benchmarks maybe, some SLI performance and utilization data and pricing maybe. I'm at lost here guys :-\

Hi. When trying to play Star Citizen in particular, my GPU usage goes down to .01% and I get <1FPS. This only happens in the online universe portion of the game, the hangar works fine, getting 1080p60FPS at medium graphics. I was wondering if this is how RAM bottlenecking is being represented, and that's the problem. I've tried several fixes like prioritizing the game, changing NCP settings, and more to try to get it to work, but as soon as I join that universe, it just immediately goes down to under 1% usage. Is this my RAM? i5 6500 8GB DDR4 2133MHz HyperX Fury EVGA GTX 1060 3GB

Does anyone have experience with how much the amount of system RAM effects the performance of Star citizen? My with my current system specs are i7 4770K @ 4.2 GHz, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, GTX 1070Ti, driving a 2560x1080 monitor. Playing arena commander or walking around the hanger, I was getting 60fps on max settings no problem. But in the PU it's in the low to mid 20's sometimes as high as 30 but can dip to 15. Has anyone tried different amounts of RAM in the same system and compared the effect, as I have no idea if the performance is the game's fault or my system running out of memory... 8GB has (nearly) always been enough as long as when I play games I don't keep multiple window's worth of tabs open. And I've wanted to get another 8GB for the past year but prices have been so crazy (its twice as expensive as when I bought it in the first place). I was hoping to hold off for another couple of years till my next CPU upgrade, as that would mean switching to DDR4, I didn't want to waste the money on a little extra DDR3 unless I was sure that was going to make SC run better.

Can I run Star Citizen? My build has a Ryzen 1600 @ 3.9GHz, 8GB of RAM, GTX 1070 Strix @ 2.1GHz and a 1tb hard drive. I want at least 45FPS with decent graphics. The things that I'm worried about are the 8GB of ram and the hard drive.

Been a while since I made a topic, gonna get right into it. STAR CITIZEN ALPHA 3.0 IS NOW LIVE TO ALL BACKERS! For those who do not know, this is the single biggest update so far in the development history of Star Citizen. It brings actual persistence to the Star Citizen universe in a way not done before. Previously you could get in your ship and fly around, get a "mission" where you "fly to a thing and do a thing" and not much happens. This update came out a while ago but was only available to a specific group of the public, but now everyone and anyone who has purchase a package can now (and in fact has to if they want to play Star Citizen) install and play. And here I'll list a few of the things that come with this update The full details are available here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/16348-Star-Citizen-Alpha-300 I am so very, VERY excited. This is a complete paradigm change in what currently exists as "Star Citizen". Also new trailer/teaser featuring a salty-as-hell Mark Hamill https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQTcf2bnRhY
