so a colleague of mine was gonna upgrade his pc with one of our old PCs and he decided to put his sata ssd into the pc that had windows 11 operating system, when he logged into the pc he found that a good chunck of the data like documents and pictures were gone and where categorized under an unknown non-existing drive so he gave me the work to fix this however i can't figure out whats happend. what i have done is searching file names through the library without any luck and i used windirstat to locate the missing files becuase most of the ssd space is used up however the used up space is no where to be found. and windirstat cannot locate it 100%, it can only find that it's with in his user. but there is nothing there. maybe some files got corrupt because what i noticed is that the old PCs were windows 10 and he plugged in a windows 11 ssd. i just need some ideas here on what to do the old pc gtx 1660 16 gb ddr3 motherboard is a 970 pro3 r2.0 amd fx(tm)-8350 sata ssd 120gb with windows 11 sata ssd 850gb for games the new pc gtx 970 16gb ddr3 asus maximus vii ranger intel i5-4690k sata ssd 250gb with windows 10

Hello everyone! I've had an issue of black squares randomly appearing on my screen at times for some time now. I don't remember when it started but I've had the issue for at least some months. Good to mention is that I had an outage in december leading to one of my SSD's in my stationary PC to break (showing RAW data) and perhaps possibly this outage could have damaged other components aswell without me knowing. The damaged SSD hasn't been connected to my PC since it got damaged because I haven't had time to look at solutions for it. However this post is about the black squares showing up on my screen randomly. I have all the latest Nvidia, Windows 10, motherboard bios and cpu chipset drivers installed. I've added a image to to demostrate an example of how the black squares could show up. When I move my mouse the squares disappears. I added the squares in paint since I can't screenshot them but they show as solid black ones like in the image provided. Setup: CPU Ryzen 5 5600 (non x version) Motherboard Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2 RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB) / 3200MHz / DDR4 / CL16 / CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 GPU Gigabyte GTX 1660 Ti (GV-N166TWF2OC-6GD) Storage Kingston A2000 M.2 250GB, Kingston NV2 1TB PSU Seasonic Focus+ / 550W / 80+ Gold Operating System Windows 10

Hello everyone! Some time ago I had an outage which lead to my "d:"/second drive (Samsung 870 EVO 500GB) to stop working. After the outage the SSD worked for some hours but then my PC went super slow and didn't work properly and when rebooting the PC it takes 30 minutes to boot to WIndows when the d: drive is connected to the motherboard. My c: drive is the one that has Windows installed on and the d: drive is the only one that doesn't work and makes my PC almost unresponsive when connected. The data on my d: drive is RAW and I would like to restore data from it if possible. Sending my SSD to a place that specialize on retrieving data will cost too much money since I will need to send it most probably to USA after talking with stores and repair shops where I live. So I wonder if anyone knows any tools to do it at home for free? I believe I've read before that Samusung Magician could perhaps retrieve lost data on certain supported SSD's but I don't know how to use it and if it even supports my SSD. My d: drive locks up my PC so it's really hard to start up any programs. The store that I bought the SSD from told me that I still have some time left to return it for a new one but I want to atleast try to retrieve data from it before I send it back.

Hello peeps So I bought this pre-built model 400G4PDM/I77700/500HQ/4C/8f , A mouse and a keyboard included from HP this system has: - Intel® Core™ i7-7700 Processor - A western digital 500GB hard-disk - A 180 watt 80+bronze powersupply - 1x 8GB DDR4 2133 Mhz RAM - Intel® HD Graphics 630 that's for the that's for the options part, as for expansion: Ports Front: Universal audio jack with CTIA headset support 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 1 SD 3 card reader (optional) Back: 1 audio out connector 1 DisplayPort™ 1 VGA 4 USB 2.0 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 1 audio in connector 1 RJ-45 1 power connector Expansion slots Turbo Drive (M.2 PCIe) 1 M.2 2230 for wireless NIC PCI Express x16 (v3.0)(wired as a x4) 4.2", full height 6.6" length, 35 W max power PCI Express x16 (v3.0) 4.2" full height, 6.6" length, 75 W max power Upgrades: 1-SSD:(done) For this upgrade I went with the SAMSUNG 960 EVO M.2 250GB NVMe PCI-Express 3.0 x4 plugged it in the previously mentioned PCIE x16 that is (wired as a x4) through an Asus Hyper M.2 PCI-Express x4, and it is working properly as my system bootable, keeping the 500GB hard-disk for storage. 2-GPU With only my 1x (PCI Express x16 (v3.0) 4.2" full height, 6.6" length, 75 W max power) left for expansion, I am choosing to go with a passive cooling GeForce®GTX 1050 Ti KalmX with it's TDP at 75 watts being my built limit, although it is not available for sale right now, I will have to wait to be able to get a hold of one. 3-WiFi I want to add WiFi solution to my PC, just so I can have my computer ready for any kind of requirements although I will be running it via cable when working on it, and Bluetooth can get very handy. I didn't know what network card to choose exactly, just because I don't really have a lot of background knowledge about this matter. 4-RAM To be able to carry any kind of task that I will be putting on this computer I would want to match my stick with another 8 GB of DDR4 RAM to have a total of 16 GB memory running at 2133 Mhz enabling the dual channel bandwidth supposedly increasing performance and Graphics processing performance. Problems: 1-Enough power to run the GPU? With my low wattage powersupply I am really concerned if my PC can run a 1050 ti like the KalmX, and I have no idea how to know, and in-case it can't; is it possible to upgrade the PSU in pre-built PCs??? 2-I can't decide what WiFi adapter to get. I would love to hear reviews or insights about WiFi adapters. (I care about Bluetooth, WiFi range and ping) Cost: 1-HP ProDesk 400G4PDM/I77700/500HQ/4C/8f ------- 660$ 2-Samsung evo 960 250GB + Asus hyper m.2 ------- 180$ ....... These prices are for the marker here in Jordan. So prices may differ drastically. (am pretty sure you can get the ssd and the kit for cheaper than this price) And bro aren't these boot time fast

hi all, a bit of a weird predicament here. i had an old ssd that i had replaced because the OS was broken and yesterday i decided as i was cleaning my pc to plug it in to grab some old files and whatnot. i had to unplug it and re plug in the old ssd to get my computer to boot, but it was working and i got my files. i ran malwarebytes to make sure i had no viruses or anything and it came back clean. і left my pc on overnight and fast forward this morning, i decide to restart it and unplug my old drive to wipe later. now my pc won't boot, fans won't spin, no lights on motherboard or gpu. i already tried plugging it in again, clearing cmos (both with motherboard button and with the pins on the motherboard), tried booting with the old ssd plugged in, and then tried again with it unplugged. nothing seems to be working. does anyone have any ideas or insight? thanks! i'll try to answer questions in the comments, and i'll test some solutions when i am home from work Specs in case it helps: Ryzen 7 5800x Aorus b550 Elite mobo 32gb gskill ram 3070ti Boot drive is a 1tb nvme ssd 2tb games drive 4tb games drive and the old ssd is a 500gb sata ssd.

Hello community, I wanted to know if the samsung evo 970 plus 2tb is compatible and works good with the gigabyte b450m ds3h v2 with ryzen 5 3600 and rx 6600. In the gigabyte website it stands: 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 SATA and PCIe x4/x2* SSD support) * Actual support may vary by CPU. * Supports only M.2 SATA SSDs when using an AMD Athlon™-series/ 7th Gen. A-series or Athlon™ X4 APU. Thank you.

Hi everyone! Looks like I'm starting to run a little low on storage space so I figured it'd be time to start looking around for options when the time comes. I'm currently using both of my motherboard's M.2 slots which only leaves me with either PCI-E or SATA. The only thing is I'm a bit new/an idiot when it comes to storage... I'm wondering is whether it'd be better/makes more sense by installing one or more NVMe drives on a 16x PCI-E M.2 expansion card (such as a Asus Hyper M.2 x16 PCI-E 4.0 Get 4 Expansion Card) (because less cable management to deal with) or just using a regular 2.5" SATA SSD in order to maintain the overall fastest read/write speeds possible (I know that any NVME drives on an expansion card would be running on PCI-E 3.0). Hopefully I didn't leave out any important info. Thanks in advance to everyone for your help/advice! The PC in question is running a 5700X on a B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 (rev 1.2) which has the following: Expansion Slots: 1 x PCI Express x16 slot (PCIEX16), integrated in the CPU: Occupied by the GPU 1 x PCI Express x16 slot (PCIEX2), integrated in the Chipset: Supporting PCIe 3.0 x2 mode 1 x PCI Express x16 slot (PCIEX1_2), integrated in the Chipset: Supporting PCIe 3.0 x1 mode 1 x PCI Express x1 slot (PCIEX1_1), integrated in the Chipset: Supporting PCIe 3.0 x1 mode Motherboard's Storage Interface: 1 x M.2 connector (M2A_CPU), integrated in the CPU Occupied by a 1TB Samsung 980 Pro (boot drive) (MZ-V8P1T0CW) 1 x M.2 connector (M2B_SB), integrated in the Chipset Occupied by a 500GB Samsung 970 EVO (MZ-V7E500BW) 4 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors, integrated in the Chipset: 1 of these connectors is already in use by an existing 1TB Samsung 860 QVO 2.5" SSD (MZ-76Q1T0/AM)

so i installed an NVMESSD (WD Black SN850X) in my MSI B450 Tomahawk Max which does not support PCIE Gen4, i have installed the SSD correctly, my bios is up to date, the ssd is working but maybe after a day or two when i turn the pc on it does not show neither on windows nor on Bios, if i open and reattach the ssd it shows up again, i have checked with crystal disk info and even bios's built in m.2 checker, both shows that the SSD is new and no errors there, the other day i did not even have to open up the ssd and its back to showing, from bios i just changed storage to raid and turned it on to a blue screen and after reversing it to as it was the SSD was back and now my other sata storage devices were not showing in the bios, one of which contained window, but getting out of bios the pc booted up in windows and was showing all the devices including problematic SSD, do u think it is the issue of the motherboard? the SSD itself? or Bios?

Hello I have this 128gigs ssd as my windows drive but it remains mostly full. I've bought a new 500gigs ssd and want to replace it with my existing windows drive. Is there any software or method that I could use to clone my existing 128gig drive to the new drive so that all the software, data and maybe windows too, gets moved to the newer drive? I don't want to go on an installing marathon with all these software. ;-; Thanks in advance!

Good day LTT, I have an issue with the home server I am trying to DIY. The original motherboard for this build (which had successfully booted into Ubuntu) got bricked; not sure how. I swapped the entire build over to a new motherboard (MSI PRO PRO B550-VC AM4 AMD B550). I was able to get into BIOS, see all my hardware, but when I try to boot, I am stuck on the MSI Pro Series splash screen. I have the Ubuntu Boot USB plugged in ready to reinstall the OS, but no action is being taken. I can get into BIOS, the boot priority is set properly, and I disabled XMP as a test. No lights are on in the diagnostic LEDs. Any idea what else I can try? The rest of the build is an AMD Ryzen 5600G (using integrated graphics), 32GB of Corsair DDR4, a Samsung M.2 970 Evo that the old OS was installed on, and 4 HDDs (2 WD 1TB blue drives and 2 WD 4TB red drives)

Backstory to this: I was up Playing Helldivers 2 with some friends around 5am. I restarted my system, and now my SSD won't show up at all. I've currently ran through a troubleshooting guide (https://4ddig.tenorshare.com/hard-drive/fix-ssd-not-showing-up-in-windows-10.html) I've already done the following: check if SSD SATA cable was loose Configured BIOS Updating SSD Drivers (which was already up to date) Honestly don't know what to do, and just really need some help with this. I know this isn't like a tech support forum or something like that but it'd be nice getting help from others thanks to anyone that can help!

I have tried multiple times to install windows 10 to a new ssd I bought but I can't, it keeps restarting. If I pull out the pendrive after install it just doesn't do anything But when I try to install it to an older HDD it works just fine.

(Greetings from Belgium) Tech support: What the title says... I've recently had to expand my storage. I added in a 1TB WD Barracuda (Came from an old iMac, am using at my own risk. I know) and had an old 128 M.2 SATA SSD lying around. Since I have Zero budget left, I thought that maybe it'd be possible to use the SSD as a caching drive just like Intel Optane or AMD StoreMi, however StoreMi (Using an AMD system) didn't want to install and had not the most encouraging reviews. After some reserach I found an 'alternative' but that uses RAMdisks, not what I want. I barely have enough with 16GB. Right now I do not use the SSD and have simply set 120GB of page file on that SSD lmao So... what if I set the RAMdisk to that pagefile? Wouldn't that work? It's an SSD so it's still faster than the HDD. Why wouldn't it work? Before attempting this I have tried researching a bit, but the only results I found were "Pagefile in ramdisk", the opposite of what I was looking for. Is there anyone savy enough about this topic to help me out? I do not feel like finding out the hard way myself (Like I did with 2nd hand PSUs :))))) I did not want to use storage spaces, since it limits storage to 256GB (128GB from the SSD + 128 from the HDD) for some reason. I want the full 1TB to be used. Additional info: Windows 11, latest Ryzen 9 5950X non OC + NH-U12A 16GB PC4 3200MT/s GTX 780 3G Aorus B550 Elite v2 (rev1.2) -> CPU and MOBO appear compatible with storeMI, but does not work Thanks in advance. rode PS: Might be a stupid question and the answer might've been there all along, but let this be the answer to those lost with the same question as I have.

I’ve had this new PC around 2 years. Last night, everything froze completely except my mouse and I had to force turn off my PC with the power button. Upon rebooting I got the message: “WARNING: Please back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent and cause unpredictable fail.” I’ve attached a picture to this post. I’ve already done some research and it seems this may be related to a firmware issue (https://www.tomshardware.com/news/samsung-980-pro-ssd-failures-firmware-update). I don’t want to boot with this drive to run the tool and run the risk of writing data and forcing the disk to a read only state permanently. I’m wondering what my next best/safest steps are to backup this failing hard drive so I don’t lose all the data. Here’s what I have to work with: - Existing windows PC with the failing SSD and a 4TB HDD (I don’t want to format that 4TB HDD) - A windows laptop - A 2TB portable drive (Also don’t want to format this. I have about 1.5TB of space left there) - A new 2TB M.2 SSD - A new 256GB flash drive - An M.2 NVME enclosure Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This SSD says that it is 127 Mb's when I click on its properties in Windows, I know it used to be a 1Tb drive, but after I had to use it to I have this Sandisk 1Tb Extreme Portable SSD and it shows up in windows as a 127mb drive. I have used it in the past and it was larger then. The only thing I have done with it recently is use it to reflash my Steamdeck with SteamOS. I tried using a usb stick for that, but it was taking hours so I redid it wiht the SSD. How do I make the SSD go back to what it was before? The drive's name is "EFI", but when i go to Properties>Hardware it has the old name of the drive. If anyone need screenshots or other information please let me know this is like a $90 drive. Thanks in advance!

After my old Sata SSD was almost filled to the brim i bought a 2TB M.2 SSD, my Bios shows it to me, my device manager shows it to me etc. but it doesn’t show up in my File App or in my Storage Manager, what do I do?

Recently bought a low level gaming PC. Only issue is the existing NVME SSD doesn't give a lot of storage space for multiple games. So I purchased a Samsung 980 PRO 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD and a ROG Aurion Enclosure. Installed a few games but found it was pretty bad when playing with a lot lagging frames when off line and even worse online. So I ran crystal mark/crystal info on both SSD's, results below. New Samsung external SSD first then, the existing OEM Kioxia that's already running in the laptop as a comparison/benchmark. As you can see the new SSD is basically 25% the speed, so woefully slow and it is by far the better SSD on paper. What have I done wrong? I bought probably a better M.2 drive than I needed so I could use it when I build a gaming desktop. However, I just want to game now without installing and uninstalling games so regularly to make space. Some help and/or guidance would be appreciated. System Specs AMD Ryzen™ 5 5600H processor (2.0 - 4.2GHz) 256GB SSD storage 8GB RAM NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 Graphics 1 x HDMI port 1 x USB-A 2.0 port 1 x USB-A 3.0 port 1 x USB-C 3.1 port

So I just recently bought an 1tb M.2 NVME drive, and already have a 1tb HDD in my PC. I was wondering what the best use for these would be. I was thinking of setting up RAID 1 but I read in some places online that RAID can be buggy with NVME drives. Should I do it or is it better to just have 2tb of storage. I don't really have anything important worth backing up, but I don't really need 2tb of storage either.

Thanks to a friend that gifted me this piece of add-in card during the Festive season, I now find myself wondering which 4TB PCIE SSD I should go for in order to replace my 2x3TB Toshiba P300. I'm looking at the Samsung 990 Pro since: I already have a 980 (yes, it's the non-Pro, I didn't omit the Pro), and knows it's performance characteristics. I also have 2 more 870 EVO 4TB, so pretty much Samsung ecosystem. I can walk to multiple local shops and purchase one. TLC-based and has DRAM cache Except ONE issue, it cost $500-$550, after currency conversion and tax from US$. The two 3TB drives I'll be replacing are my Workspace/Documents/Downloads and Game Records, and yes, I know the add-in card splits PCIE 3.0 x4 into PCIE 3.0 x1, but in the future (5-7 years--already 3 years, based on my upgrade cycle), I can get the 'full' potential of the 4TB PCIE SSDs. Plus, it's still PCIE 3.0 x1, still faster than SATA. Here are the 4TB I can: Go down and purchase Doesn't have heatsink Below $420 They are: Adata XPG S70 Blade Adata Legend 960 Lexar NM790 (Not looking at this, since it's HBM/DRAM-) Crucial P3/+ (Not looking at this, QLC and HBM/DRAM-) Are those two comparable to 990 Pro? I'm discourage of looking at NewEgg or A to Z (Amazon), because the waiting time is two weeks---big OOF.

Hi everyone, Recently I've bought a new SSD, the Crucial P5 Plus 1TB, that supports NVMe Gen4. My rig was built by myself in November 2020, and since then I had never swapped or added any new parts. The problem happened today, after installing the new SSD. To be clear, I only installed the SSD in an available slot, I didn't swap the components yet. When installing the new component and migrating the OS to this SSD (as I wanted to format the previous SSD that had the OS and install it in this one), once it restarted, the CPU Led Light on my MSI MAG B550M Bazooka motherboard lit up, alongside no POST. No matter what I checked, or cleaned, or removed and placed again, the problem persisted. After many troubleshooting, all it needed was a BIOS update, as it still hadn't been updated since buying the motherboard. Now everything works fine, and the OS is running on the desired SSD. My problem begins now: after checking that everything worked, I wanted to swap the SSDs as to take advantage of the newer SSD, which could use the LIGHTNING SLOT that had Gen4 in my motherboard. After swapping them, and turning on the computer, the DRAM light turned on, alongside no POST again, and it wasn't turning off. I don't know if there is a problem between my SSD and the motherboard in terms of compatibility, but it seems strange that there's only an error when installing the SSD in the Gen4 slot. Any ideas on how to solve this? Apologies if anything is not explained properly, if any additional info is needed I will happily provide it. CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600 Motherboard: MSI MAG B550M BAZOOKA RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3600MHz 2x8GB GPU: AMD Radeon PowerColor 5700XT Old SSD: WD Green M.2 280 SSD New SSD: Crucial P5 Plus SSD 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 Thanks.

Morning all, there's a used Samsung PM1725B locally, trouble is the card is designed for PCIE x8 and my motherboard (gigabyte b550 ud ac) has open slots that are physically x16 but wired for x4 or x1, what issues will occur running this card in those slots? Also ive heard tell that any cards will run in a slot with fewer lanes than what a card is wired for as long as there is not a physical limit but i couldnt find a solid source on this.

Currently on a 9th gen i5 3050 moving to 12700k 4070 super, only thing im not sure about is my ssd, i dont have anything on it I cant just redownload, so how do I go about putting it in the new pc, can I just put it in and have windows to a clean install or do I have to wipe it? What programs/ adapters will I need to use and will I need another pc to do so?
