I have an NZXT Kraken X72 AIO installed on my NZXT H710 case. The cooler was working fine for about a year. But suddenly, I noticed that the CPU (Ryzen 9 3900x) temperature went up because the radiator fans (NZXT AER RGB 2) stopped spinning. So I opened the case and tried to troubleshoot the problem. The fans were connected to the 10 pin cable that came from the CPU block. I removed and reconnected them to the fan controller of the case. This time two of the fans worked and one didn't. I finally concluded that one of the fans were broken so I replaced it with another one. But if I connect them back to the cable that came from the CPU block, they don't work, just the RGB lights up. So I kept the connected to the controller. Today, I noticed the fans stopped spinning again. So I disconnected the 10 pin cable from the CPU block and reconnected it after reading a suggestion online. And it started working again. But I noticed that the "Kraken X Fan" is showing 0 RPM in the NZXT CAM software. I don't know which is this. I'm also worried that the fans might stop spinning again. Where could be problem be? Should change the whole AIO or is there any other alternative?

Hey, I bought a new MB 3 months ago. I’m using the same case with the same fans. Only yesterday I realized that the fans are not spinning. I have 2 fans with 3 pin connector. On my motherboard I have only 4 pin connectors so 1 fan is connected to 4 pin, and one with molex. In my gigabyte bios I can see in 5 smart fan (something in bios) my cpu fan and he is RPM and sys fan 1 and sys fan 2 with RPM 0.

I have been noticing frame drops on Rocket League and overall performance issues with my PC in the past few weeks. However, as nothing serious, just annoying, I mostly ignored it. However, recently, I looked over after being bothered by these and realized that my radiator fans were not spinning. I have no idea why (yes they are plugged in and have been since I bought the radiator). If anyone has any ideas that would be great. I have the Corsair H105.

Hi there, When I have an internal harddrive connected to my pc through sata and power from the power supply my harddrives never ever spin down no matter what. That includes the power management I've set and using HDDScan to manually do so, they just spin right back up instsntly. I do not have any reads or writes going through them, no handles or dll files accessing them or any programs on the drives running. I can connect them to an external bay that connects through USB 3.0 and then suddenly they do spin down with both methods. I'm not sure what I can do to allow them to spin down when they need to. Any advice is appreciated. The motherboard I am using is the Asus Z270F. Thanks

So yeah my cpu, gpu and 3 system fans are spinning after windows shutdown and they only stop when i switch off the psu or plug it off the wall. Also when i switch my psu back on fans will immeadetly start spinning. Sometimes only cpu and gpu fans will stay on and I have no clue why that is happening. I also noticed that on my MSI motherboard the cpu EZ debug led is on while the system is "shutdown". I'm running windows 10 64bit and here are my system specs: intel skylake i5-6600 asus gtx1060 6gb turbo msi b250m mortar corsair vengeance lpx 8gb ddr4 corsair vs650 Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to remove this VESA mount to put it on a new VESA mount (change of desk and location). The top 2 screws come out without issue, however the last ones moved about 5 mm and are now just spinning. I have tried putting something between the screw and monitor and pulling, while unscrewing but it didn't do anything. Any solutions to removing the screws and still being able to use the VESA mount afterwards. I had an issue trying to get it to screw all the way in when I first mounted it about 2 years ago, but I solved the problem by putting foam between the gap of the mount and monitor to stop it moving. That was mostly as they didn't move at the time either but I didn't take much notice of it. (Monitor is ASUS VC279H) Any ideas?

Earlier today I was playing Overwatch and realized my gpu was up to 95°C so I checked my openhardwaremonitor and it said my fans were on 50% but I couldn't hear them so I checked my gpu fans, I then proceeded to reinstall AMD settings with ddu and used wattman to try and control the fans and even with manual control the fans wouldn't spin, it wouldn't on automatic either while the gpu was up to 90°c. Is my fan dead? Can I do anything about this?

My current problem is that my 2 cpu fans for my water cooled fan is spinning really loud/hard while doing almost nothing like starting windows and waiting a min and it is still spinning. The air is also normal not warm. My current cooling setup is a water coolblock in the middle then a fan in front and at the back of the cooling block and that is mounted to the back of the case. The pc it self is in an open place. I have been on vacation and in the warmer days my fans are allways a little louder but what is happening right now is not acceptable. Thank you for your guys help. 1 EDIT: photo's 2 EDIT: After taking some photo's my fans were already back to normal what I find weird because i rebooted 4 time before I posted on the forum.

Hey forum, I've come up with an interesting problem. My GTX 680 DirectCU II is kinda loud even when its fans are at lowest stock speeds. I saw an article (link below, content in spoiler) where someone had managed to get their GTX 680 DCUII to have a fanless mode by flashing the BIOS with a minimum fan speed of zero. I followed this and what I've ended up with is a reported fan speed percentage of zero, but as you can see it's still actually running at 1050RPM. Do you guys have any suggestions for ways I could get it to work? An interesting idea I've had is to set a negative value in the BIOS and flash it again but of course I don't want to do anything that would give me a particular risk of bricking my card. Thanks! Hey guys So a few weeks ago my graphics card fan started to to weird things. It would cut power when i start games etc. It got worse over the weeks and now i'm at a point where i can't get it to start at all. Last week i was able to start it by pushing the fan by hand, but now it only spins up in the first second when i start my pc, after that it's basically dead. Here are my specs: CPU: i7-3770, Stock fan GPU: Gainward GTX 660 Ram: 8GB, Kingston OS: Windows 7, 64-bit MB: AsRock B75 pro 3 m PSU: beQuiet! System Power 7, 500W Just recently updated the BIOS but it didn't help at all. Also the card was tested on my fathers PC, same problem. Also tried to control the fan with MSI Afterburner, ExperTool and read it out with GPU-Z but it changed nothing. I feel like it has something to do with the cards internal power supply since when the problem started the fan turned off when the card was under load. Hope you guys can help me since i realy don't know what else to do anymore Attached is a very small part of a GPU-Z sensor log i did a few days ago where the fan still worked (a little). You can see how the RPM is jumping between 6150 and 6180 and at 2015-08-10 21:27:21 it starts going down while the fan remains locked at 60% (2015-08-10 21:27:21 is the time where i came back from driving school and opened a program) Tests were done with various games and Furmark. So with the MSI Krait when I plugged the PWM fan splitter into CPU1 and plugged the fans into the splitter and I noticed the fans are spinning pretty slowly and I'm sorta confused on why? (AIO came with a PWM splitter) I used MSI Command Center and it shows the fans spinning at around 650Rpm. With my older FX MSI board the fans would spin around 1500rpm - 2000rpm from the start of turning on the desktop but with this Krait motherboard they spin at a super low speed. Anyone know why this is happening? Any help would be great! Thanks.

Recently I've been having issues with my recently built gaming PC(few months old). Occasionally it will crash for seemingly no reason and when I try to turn it back on again, the fans don't spin. Only the PSU fan does, that means 6 fans are not spinning in my rig, including CPU and GPU. Anyone else had this issue? I know it's not a thermal limiter causing the PC to shut down as my temps are fine (Mid 70's under full load on stock heatsinks) and I am certain that all of my connectors are plugged in correctly. I can fix this if I give the PSU cables a jiggle where they meet the PSU and mobo, but that would mean running my PC without a side panel to get the system back quickly, which is a no-can-do. Would this suggest a PSU or motherboard issue? Post codes seem normal when the system's fans are working as intended. Any and all help appreciated. The REAL Answer to "How to Fix Slow Mac Beach Ball icon"
mrjordann posted a topic in Troubleshooting
It drives me insane seeing all these programs saying they will "speed up your Mac!" and saying "Tired of seeing that spinning rainbow icon?" Well, here we go. From a Mac user, and frankly a 'well-educated on computers' Mac user, I can tell you that is all bull crap. There is ONE and only ONE solution to this. Buy a new computer! Obviously your processor doesn't have enough cores (or GHz, if that even matters anymore)! Of course, if you're accidentally saving 400 hrs of video on your harddrives or something, I'd recommend Grand Perspective, a free program for Macs. It will help you locate and delete unwanted large files. But besides things like that (unique to YOUR computer, that you accidentally did), just get a new computer. I'm sorry, that's all I have to say. Copy your harddrive down onto an external harddrive using Time Machine, and load it onto a new one. Thanks for reading. -Jordan -
So, as many of my friends might now know, I have a laptop with an SSD and an HDD. The SSD is used to boot Windows 7 x64 and the HDD has an old, bootable copy of Windows 7 x64 which I will keep for emergency purposes, in addition to *soon to be* my media collection (photos & videos). Now, onto my question. Is it okay to set it up to stop rotating the HDD after, say 5 minutes of inactivity? I'm not exactly sure if this will cause damage to the motor over the long term with the constant start-stop-start-stop-start-stop. Thanks in advance.

I have recently built my first system for light gaming, I don't have many games thus far so I only bought a 500gb HDD. I have had a pre-built system before I could barely hear the hard drive even when downloading files etc; but with this new PC I can always hear the HDD spinning even when idle. I cannot think of anything that I am doing even at idle to make my hard drive read/write. Hello. In think I haven't presented yet, but I need help. 2 months ago I noticed one fan on my 660 Ti wasn't working, I tought it was stopped by dust, because I used it for almost 6 months without cleaning the PC, so I clean everything up but the fan still doesn't start and it wasn't "hard to spin" with my finger, so lube is not a problem I think. MSi Afterburner says 0 RPM, 1 fan spinning, the other one not. But if I make it spin with my finger, RPM starts to show in MSi software. If I use the Fan Speed controller in MSi Afterburner, I can hear the other fan working properly, but the other one doesn't move at all until I set fan speed to 90% or higher, then it starts and I can get it to 86%, if I go lower(85%) it just stops. GPU Temp in any game goes up to 81-82ºC, but the other fan gets TOO MUCH noisy. Before, when the two fans worked fine, it was very quiet and max temp was 70ºC. The fan that doesn't work is directly up(or down  )the GPU. I live in Argentina, i'm sure here I will not be able to find the same fan, so is there a solution to this problem? I will try flashing the BIOS to see if that solves the problem, I flashed the BIOS a year ago with other fan curve, but it was working fine. Thanks. Sorry if my english is bad

How bad is it to move spinning HDD, Hard Drive, while head is moving?
Guest posted a topic in Storage Devices
Hello everyone! A bit new to posting on the forum :3 I just bought a new external desktop HDD (WD Elements Desktop - 2TB) and I am currently running a full format of it, which does take it fair time. Some might say that a full format is unnecessary, and that a quick format would have been OK, but I get paranoid easily so I decided to do it anyway. EDIT: I know it is bad, and that it is really, really bad if you are not very careful, but what if you try to be very gentle moving it? It is a desktop external HDD, but it feels like they should have added some sort of protection at least since it is an external drive, and not an internal one, hence why I dared to move it at all. Anyway, to my question. How bad is it really to move a HDD while it is working (i.e while the head is moving)? After about 8 hours of formatting, and with about 8 hours left, I unfortunately had to move the HDD, and so I did. I did my best to keep it in the same orientation as I could and tried only to move it upwards and sideways so that I wouldn't change the axis on which the platters were/are spinning. As I said earlier I very easily get paranoid and I'm now semi-worried the that I possibly might have caused some bad sectors on the disc. I tried to do some searching on the big and mighty Google regarding this, but could only find answer like "It is bad to move hard drive while it is on" and "don't move the hard drive" (Which I already know ofc). What I want to know is HOW bad it is (if you should really be that worried at all) if you try to move the drive with as great care as you can? How can the lifespan be affected? Thanks to everyone or anyone that comes with a reply!- 9 replies

Hi guys, Need your help in clearing out somethings regarding mechanical hard drives, you can answer the best possible way you can, or leave a troll comment , i don't mind Will keeping the HDD in diferent orientations/Angles going to damage the disc platters, or could cause an issue with the drive on the long run? Does the hdd need to be kept cool everytime, by keeping it under a system fan inorder to properly take care of it? extend the lifespan? Will , Moving the drive constantly (as in transportation) going to harm the data drive easily? is connecting the mechanical hard drive via extention cables such as Sata-to-usb going to allow datat corruption (if in case there aren't many sata ports on the mobo itself) How often a hdd needs to be properly cared for (dusting/defragging/replace cables) Does keeping the hard drive running for a long long time(as in heavy encoding processes) going to harm the drive or does it needs to be put in sleep mode every now & then? Those are my questions . i'd appreciate if you can answer it in the same order or numbered or anyway you prefer. Thanks again for reading it through this far..

Since about 3 weeks ago this problem showed up I launch a game/join a server move around a bit. and my mouse just constantly starts spinning.... the only way to make it stop is to launch the in-game chat or Console OR stay in a vehicle the whole game I only have 3 USB devices on my computer. 1. Logitech G9x Mouse 2. Generic Logitech Keyboard 3. my asus wifi dongle at first i thought maybe there was some crap on the actual laser on my mouse. but the mouse works fine in all my other games and apps. ONLY In bf3 does it act up ive tried to replug everything restart a whole bunch of times and i just cant figure out what it is. Ive looked around on the internet and most people have some issue because of the controller they had plugged in. but i dont have anything else SO WHATS THE DEAL !?@#
