Hi, so I've recently bought a new GPU and after installing it, and reinstalling Windows (ye I used DDU but wanted to be sure it wasn't a problem with the driver, so I reinstalled) I noticed my GPU was crashing on AAA titles, so I installed MSI afterburner to check what was going on, and to my surprise, as I was idling (in the images below) the clock and mem were spiking, I've never really seen this before, so that's why I'm asking. I had a Corsair CS750m but It was 10 years old so I bought a new PSU to stop the crashing and that fixed that, but now I'm curious about the memory, if it's normal for it to do this while I'm not doing anything? tl:dr; the first image is when (the one with the line at like 60% is during some light gaming, which to me this looks strange af to spike up and down). Should I return the card and by another one?

When playing games such as apex and rust my gpu is spiking to 100, dropping to 0 then crashes the game. On apex i can play a couple games before it crashes and on rust i cant even load into a server without it crashing. Whenever it crashes everything open on my pc bricks and either crashes or has to be force quit due to it being frozen. I didn't use to have this issue before and use to run games fine. When i was able to play and run rust i would get a steady 80Fps but now i cant even load a server. Ive tried talking to nvidia but it takes 4 hours for a reply and its the same things everytime. I attached a Sensor log of my gpu when it crashes loading a rust server and what the task manager looks like. I also added a benchmark from the stability test. Ive seen a couple of similar threads but i think most are with even older parts than mine and also haven't done much trouble shooting. I'm just at a wall on what to do. This is also only a problem on higher impact games such as apex, mw2, and rust i can run csgo without crashing I Have tried Underclocking Overclocking updating bios Reinstalled drivers like 5 times GPU stability test My Pc I7 7700K @ 4.20GHz, 16GB Ram @ 1069 MHZ, Tuf Z270 Mark 2 Motherboard, GTX 1070, i have 2 monitors and all my data is on sdds. 550w PSU, Window 10 64 BiT GPU-Z Sensor Log.txt

I Have lenovo Legion 5 Pro (Laptop) GPU: RTX 3070 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H RAM: Stock 2x8gb 3200MHz OS: Win10 Pro Version 22H2 64-bit BIOS is the latest from Lenovo Vantage. I've been having this issue for like a week, but i couldn't find any fixes, in MSI Afterburner these values are spiking and dropping my Fps down, i've tried different fixes but nothing, it's something with GPU surely, i've tried DDU, downgraded different drivers but nothing, after a while my FB Usage and Memory Clock spikes up, Temp isn't changing much it's always below 90 and when it spikes the GPU Usage isn't changing much. I am now on newest drivers where the spikes aren't that "aggresive" but on older drivers they were like constant, on newest it's kinda random. This is happening in Rainbow Six: Siege, Battlefield 4 and Teardown What's interesting is that in Minecraft and Euro Truck Simulator it's not happening Laptop is 6 months old i've been using the conservation mode and the quiet mode. Here is a screenshot of MSI Afterburner graph, you can see that FB Usage and memory clock is spiking

Hey everyone So i bought a 3070 and it arrived yesterday and i installed in my PC. I uninstalled my amd driver and installed my nvidia driver. But i have a problems (obviously). My Utilization, GPU Clock and Mem Clock spike all the time. So first of all My specs are: Asus RTX 3070 Dual OC, B450 Tomahawk (not the max version), Ryzen 5 3600, 16gb ram. Before i had a RX Vega 56. Now, some informations about the problem. When i'am on a screen where nothing really happends like here right now, writing this post, everything is fine. My Utilization is at like 1-2%, my gpu clock is at 210 and my mem clock is at 405. Even if a Stream is running in the background in a different tab. But when i switch Tabs my Utilization spikes 25-45% like you can see in the picture below, those spikes happend now just by switching between tabs. GPU Clock and Mem Clock stays at 210mhz and 405mhz. . Also when I'am on my Desktop and the GPU is at 1-2% and then i start and hold my left mouse button and draw squares then it also starks spiking. If i watch a Stream (only if the Stream is in a open tab) it looks like this. When I'am on Twitch Channel that is offline it looks like this. Also Youtube videos are bit more laggy some times. At one point so far this happend, the Picture of the Video stops/freezed all the time but the Audio keeps playing for a sec and then it catches up again, and then Audio cuts out a bit. So it was really janky. And a few times it happend now that Videos take like 2sec to load when i skip around. And some other times it works normally where i can skip arround and it just works fine without lag or anything. Here is how it looks when i watch a Youtube Video and it load after i skipped, in the middle where i suddenly goes down for a bit switched tabs. And at the end i opened like 16 videos and let them run. When I'am Streaming (OBS running), my Capture Card is running, 2 Streams are running (in open tabs), it looks like this. And my GPU Clock is at 1770 and my Mem clock on 6800. So i would think that theoretically it should be worse here, since i have 2 Streams running and OBS which is running the Stream and my Capture Card, but its runs pretty fine. I ask around a bit and some people say that is completely normal. But someone that talk with me about it, ask his friend who has a 3070 and when he has Twitch open he has only around 2-10% https://i.imgur.com/2k63p03.png (kept is as a link because its a bit bigger.) With my RX Vega 56, i also only had like 5-10% while watching streams oder videos. I also tried turning of Hardware Acceleration in Chrome, because someone said that that could help, but nothing changed really. So now i'am wondering... is this normal? Or is it not? What could be the problems, how could i fix it? Someone said thats its maybe the Drivers? I was also wondering if i should maybe Soft Reset for my Pc, like deleting all the software etc but keeping my private data, because maybe there are some drivers or something left from AMD that didn't got completely deleted and causes problems? So yeah... I hope someone can help me here. P.S while i'am here and at it, i was wondering if i could use MSI Afterburner to lower my Powr Limit to like 40-60%, to save some power if i don't need it. Or if that could cause problems, like damaging the GPU, because it's not supposed to be doen? Thanks in advance^^

Hello Forum, So yeah, brand new build. i7 6700K with an H110i, everytime there's an inch of load on the CPU the fans on the rad spool up for a second and drops down to quiet mode again. I've heard that It could be an Vcore issue (Mine came in at 1.28v in the bios stock) I have now changed it down to 1.2v but no changes. Lower idle temps but still spooling up when I just open up the browser forexample. XMP Profile is enabled, CPU is running at stock clocks 4.00GHz, SpeedStep is off, Turbo is off, C-states are off. The Vcore is set on "adaptive" and the manual mode in bios doesn't seem to change that. Both in HWMonitor, Cpu-Z and Intels Tuning Tool the temps are bouncing around, as well as the Vcore, altering from 1.184 to 1.2 up to like 1.22. The fun part is that Vcore on the Intel tool is showing a whopping 1.37v on average, jumping from 1.34 to 1.39. (I'm using Corsair Link to alternate fan speeds and yes I know the software blows.) What is happening here, please help. I know that alot of people are having similar issues especially with the 6700K. Should I use Default BIOS settings for this one or? Thanks in advance

So, I've been having a ton of problems running my computer lately. I can barely run any game or open and program without my CPU spiking... I can't even open up task manager. I took the computer into best buy a couple times and they said they fixed it after 5 day waits... but it was never fixed. I've also done a fresh install and clean boot on the computer, but still nothing really worked. but then I just realized whenever it spikes the voltage on the cpu is sitting at 0.70 - 0.78 at around 800 MHz. ╔ ◙ OS: Windows 10 pro ╠ ◙ CPU: i7-6700k Skylake╠ ◙ RAM: 32 gig's corsair dominator platinum ╠ ◙ GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1080 ╠ ◙ Mouse: Mionix Caster╠ ◙ Keyboard: Corsair k70 RGB╠ ◙ Headset: Hyper X cloud 2╠ ◙ Mousepad: Glorious Gamer XXL Mousepad "Extended"╠ ◙ Case: Corsair 750D full ATX tower ╠ ◙ Motherboard: MSI z170 m7 ╠ ◙ CPU Cooler: Corsair h115i "watercooled" ╠ ◙ Monitor: Ben Q. 144hz 24'' ╚ ◙ Storage: 250gb 850 evo SSD - 500gb 850 evo SSD powersupply: rmx series RM 1000x I was thinking it's either the cpu itself... the motherboard or powersupply. I'm not to sure what to do at this point, can't even run any games on the lowest settings. I'm not very computer smart, so it'd be awesome if anyone that is willing to help would kind of inform me quite well.

Hey Folks, Pretty unsure of what's causing this, but here's the skinny. Specs Ryzen 1700 Wraith Spire (Stock) ROG Strix B350F 16GB GSkill Flarex 2400mhz Asus Dual GeForce 1050ti (yea.. yea...) --------------------------------------------------------------------- That out of the way. I set it up stock out of the box. I chose at the time not to replace the stock paste on the cooler. My intent was to replace the cooler as a whole with an AIO unit at some point shortly after the initial purchase (February) but that hasn't happened yet. For a few weeks I kept everything stock standard out of the box with no OC. At the time I was not unconcerned with temps. They ranged from low 40s to 70s depending on activity (video rendering obviously higher than a WoW session. That said, after a few weeks i decided to try a moderate overclock which I'd read was comfortable even with stock cooling. I pushed to 3.5ghz and was stable with an voltage offset of +.0125 . Temps increased from mid-high 40s Idle - 60s gaming - 80-83 while rendering. Of course i expected a temp increase so i figured i'd swap out stock paste for some arctic silver 5. I was hoping for a drop of at least 2 degrees. Just to have something to show for my work. Anyhow. Put on the paste and rebooted. Started out nice at 36 degrees idle (still oc'd) and stayed like that.. Started a wow session and only climbed to 42ish. I was ecstatic. I, for some reason modified my fan curve. to smooth it out. I was increasing RPM not decreasing just not such a steep change between low to max. I reboot. Crash. Reset curve. to previous. Stable. BUT now the temps were idling at 50s So i dropped the overclock. Reset to stock settings. Idling at 50s. Straight up afraid to stress test right now because i fully expect to spike to 90+ Anyone think of something my dumb brain probably forgot? Thanks and take care,

Hello! Thank you for stopping by to help me with my issue, it's GREATLY appreciated! -----------------The GPU I am using is a Diamond Radeon HD 7970 I bought in May of 2013-------------------- Okay, so here is the problem... in MSI afterburner my GPU (on random occasions, for seemingly no reason) spikes WAY up from 0 GPU usage % in afterburner to 85%, 91% and recently went as high as 152% which I didn't even know was possible. the spikes are not constant, and only last a fraction of a second before going back down to 0, they can continue in a long string for a few seconds, or sometimes there is only 1-3 spikes before it stays at zero for quite a while, it seems I can get the spikes to stop by playing an on disk video, like a wmv file, playing it during one of the "spike episodes". though it could just be coincidence, since it's hard to gauge, as the spiking frequency is erratic, it can be as little as one spike every minute, to 1 spike every second for 20 seconds. These spikes occur whether I'm connected to the internet or not, I have unplugged the ethernet cord from my computer, and the spikes can go on for another few minutes, or seconds, depending on that specific "episode" of spikes. These spikes do not appear to affect my actual GPU clocks, temp, or fan speed, as the spikes can go on for a bit without the temp, fan, or clocks moving at all. Spikes appear at the same numbers in GPU-Z as they do afterburner, but the spikes seem to not appear, or at least not appear as high when using the Process Explorer, and they aren't ever consistent, my usage doesn't sit at a constant high value, but only spikes for a brief moment before returning to 0-ish. - Footnots on above paragraph for convenience - - GPU Spiking randomly to 81, 85, 91, and even 152% - Spikes happen when connected to the internet, or not, it doesn't appear to matter - Spikes seem to not affect the clock speeds, temperature, or fan speed of GPU - Spikes appear in both Afterburner, and GPU-Z, but not at all in Process Explorer (or at least to a lesser degree) Now, some background here, for the last 2 days I have been doing self trouble shooting, my first assumption based on internet searches, was that perhaps I had a bitcoin miner virus installed, but the symptoms for those are generally more aggressive, causing high usages for consistent periods of time, as well as causing high temperatures and fan speeds (which don't occur for me), but since I am paranoid about viruses and malware, I have scanned with AVG free, malwarebytes anti-malware, Malwarebytes anti-rootkit, TDSS Killer, and Hitman Pro, they have all come up clean, aside from a few tracking cookies or so, I have scanned with all these files in both normal mode, and safe mode. I also scanned with Rogue Killer, none of the found files or processes were "red" but there were some orange PUPs, I'm not entirely sure if they are dangerous but they appear to not be, I left them alone to stay on the safe side, I can list them below for reference if you think it could be a cause. So, basically all my scans came up empty. My next step was of course to figure out what was causing the usage, so I go into the task manager and try to find sketchy processes, but having looked them over and googling a lot, they seem to be legit, and since nothing is coming up on virus scanners, idk. So, I decided Task Manager was unreliable, so I downloaded a program through microsofts subsidiary website called "Process Explorer" it's basically task manager on steroids. I set tabs to show GPU Usage, but there didn't appear to be any processes listed using up GPU stuff, aside from things I already knew about, or had open, like flux, a browser, dwm.exe, CCC.exe, and Razer Synapse. I assumed the issue would appear upon closer graph inspection in Process Explorer, so I opened it to compare real-time to the spikes as they were happening on afterburner through the GPU Engine viewer in Process Explorer, spikes did seem to appear in Process Explorer, but they were much smaller, and being used by specific programs, or the dwm.exe, Perhaps the spikes were the same, but maybe Process Explorer maps out on a smaller scale? The percentages weren't showing up as high as they were in MSI or GPU-Z, but I don't know if it's because of a difference in usage reading between the programs or not. But this also seemed like a dead end, so on I went. From there I did some more troubleshooting, I deleted local temp folders, closed unecessary processes like adobe update, and these things didn't seem to make a difference, I tried updating my gpu drivers to the latest version, I tried updating MSI afterburner, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the updated version, and none of these things seem to make a difference. Attached are images of the problem, as well as variants - The FIRST Image is the spikes going up to 150 just a little bit after using the FURMark Benchmark - The SECOND Image is the GPU Spikes on a regular inconsistent line, just a standard spike instance - The THIRD Image is the GPU spikes and what happens at the End when I play a local wmv video during the spike instance. - The FOURTH Image is the GPU Usage Spikes alongside the GPU monitoring and Engine graphs in Process Explorer SO Linus TechTips, I have come here, created an account and beg you for an answer as a last resort, as I still have no idea what the issue is, keeping in mind EVERYTHING I've already tried, I would love some input on how to go about solving this issue ps. What are the odds of a bitcoin mining virus going undetected by all the scans I've run? Also, in malwarebytes post scan results, when I hit view details, it says at the top part "malware protection disabled" above "website protection disabled" I assume this is talking solely about realtime protection? **EDIT** UPDATE** Okay, so a little update, I managed to stumble upon a sort of recreation of results. I am able to cause the spikes myself (sometimes) by going into afterburner, hovering over the graphs on the right with my mouse, until I get the window popup, and then proceeding to put my mouse over the popup window in after burner, and sort of just move it around over the window as the window is trying to close, this will cause spikes of a random size, but it doesn't always happen. The first time I did it it was causing 89+ spikes, a while after it was causing spikes up to 50%, and after it was only causing spikes of 5... I'm not sure what's going on. Also, I left the computer running with afterburner open overnight with the internet unplugged making sure to log the data, and I was able to both recreate the spikes with the method just mentioned, but the spikes would also happen every few minutes to every few dozen minutes, to one spike every hour maybe as I left it running overnight, and these happened seemingly at random. I'm not sure what this means, but all I know is I am able to cause spikes in afterburner if the conditions are met, I'm not entirely sure what the conditions are at the moment though. **UPDATE 2** Through some more digging it also seems my "csrss.exe" in Process ecplorer shows constant GPU Usage, not too big of deal, except when I force the spikes in afterburner using the method above, the csrss.exe GPU usage spikes as well, and I have 2 instances of csrss.exe running in Process explorer, only one shows up in task manager unless I check "processes from all users", both csrss.exe files go to the same file location when opened via task manager or Process Explorer. I don't know what signifigance this holds.

So, I recently upgraded my PC and I have been having two issues with what I assume is my motherboard. My rig currently has an ASRock Fatal1ty H97 Killer motherboard, 8GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM (I am unsure of it's speed), a Nvidia GTX670 and an intel Core i7 4790K running at 4GHz. I am running Windows 8.1. After gaming for one or two hours, or watching videos for a while my PC slows down to an almost unusable state. I haven't recorded temperatures of this, but my RAM and HDD usage spikes to 98%-100%. As I said, I have no idea what is causing this. I can recreate this issue in order to record anything that may be needed. On to my other issue, this is probably me just being an idiot and missing something completely. But on my old setup, I went into my BIOS and turned on integrated graphics to use another monitor, for watching movies or having chat open on, running from my motherboard as well as a main monitor to do things such as gaming. As my other screen is just a plain old television it is not detected by my graphics card but it can run from my motherboard when my other screen is unplugged. Any idea how I could go about fixing either of these? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

OK, so this has been happening for about 4-5 days now. Every time I move my mouse my CPU spikes, like 1% to 37% spikes. You can probably see how this is a problem especially since I game and draw on the computer. Games are not laggy at all, but when I start to move my mouse, it just happens. It lags the whole computer. Not a terrible amount of lag when I click, but a huge amount when the mouse/cursor moves. This also makes it impossible to draw. I found a somewhat temporary solution to this, when I run MC or League of Legends or whatever game i'm playing at the time in administrator, the lag stops. This also works with chrome. My chrome never opened unless I ran it in Administrator, and still it crashes occasionally (I guess this is quite normal, so what i've hard, but not for me) I've ran the computer in safe mode and everything is fine, no chrome crashes blah blah, etc. I've updated my GPU and all. Also, I don't know if this helps you figure out the problem but my power cord comes off very easily, so my computer has been manually crashed a couple times. But since the computer is fine in safe mode i don't think that's the problem.
