Yo. Just wondering if anyone knows any good alternatives for the A50s, I love the sound I get from them and want something very close if not better. I was looking at the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless but read a review from someone who owned both that the Arctis doesn't have the same all around your sounds that the A50s have, so they are out of the question. I'll be using them on my PC, PS5 and Switch using a USB Sharing Switch.

Hi everyone, I'm on the lookout for a pair of headphones, so far only used closed-portable ones (like the Monopice 8323 and the like). Want something for home use mostly for music, some movies here and there, although nothing MichaelBay-esque (no explosions and such). Looking for something that has great soundstage, $300 tops. So far, I've seen that the AKGS and the Fidelio X2 both have good soundstage, but kind of mixed reviews about the Fidelios (v-shaped sound, grainy, shouty), although they don't need an amp. AKG soundstage may be somewhat "artificial" sounding acording to some reviews, and also require proper amplification. As for amp/dac, I've at my dissposal my sister's E10K and a friend GO450, I'm planning on buying whichever sounds the best. After reading the recommended gear post here and a few reviews on the internet, Im considering K701/702(the 702 doesn't seem to have those bumps on the headband anymore according to amazon) or Fidelio X2 as of now. HE 400i is $249 but they have small soundstage apparently. Don't know about the soundstage of the HD600. Not considering Massdrop editions. Do you know of other hps with good soundstage that I've missed? Any imput will be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm travelling to the USA from UK for 3 weeks due to work and was thinking of picking up the massdrop 6xx or 68x whilst I can (twice the price to get in UK) But when I started looking I saw other possible headsets also with a good soundstage etc... Dt 990 Pro etc.. These headphones would be used 100% just for gaming as I use my sonos speakers for music. I won't get the dt 990 Pro however as a odd requirement I have is they must have a detachable cable I already own a fiio e10k amp + dac And looking to spend $150-250 Any recommendations or anything to add?

Im looking forward to adding another audiophile headphone to my collection. So far I got a AKG 7XX and philips Fidelio X2. I was trying to find a closed back headphones and stumbled across this ones. Their really bassy from what I heard but I was told they got a narrow sound stage. I was wondering if anybody has the Fostex THX00 and tried gaming with them. Are they able to have some sort of soundstage or none at all? .

I have been doing some research into headphones for gaming and I have narrowed it down to one of these two, both these headphones have potential issues that I would love any assistance figuring out. The M50X headphones were recommended by a friend however I read that they can be uncomfortable after long periods of use and have a strong bass which apparently isn't great for competitive gaming as it makes explosions and gunfire quite loud and noticeable over footsteps (which I'd like to hear to have the advantage). The AD500X headphones are rather highly recommended for gaming as they have a good sound stage for positional awareness and don't have a strong bass but have good mids and highs which apparently would allow me to hear footsteps and general movement noises much more clearly and easily, I'd buy these right away however I've heard that the two head bracket things don't do that good of a job on clamping the headset to your head (I've had headsets before such as the Steel Series Arctis 5 and whenever I took a drink from a bottle of water or can of soda the headset slipped and I would have to use one hand to awkwardly hold it onto my head while using the other to hold my drink). The other potential issue is that the AD500X leak sound due to their very open-back design and I am worried that the sound may leak into my microphone (I intend to purchase the Mod Mic 5 with whichever headphones I purchase), I know this Mic has a uni-directional mode which may help but due to the headphones being very open-back I am still worried that my friends will head my audio over discord or Skype (yes I use Skype a lot as some of my friends are stubborn and set in their ways haha), would these headphones leak badly or would it only be noticeable to my friends with my volume very high, I intend to have the volume high sometimes but wouldn't mind lowering it a bit while on Skype if needed, however I don't want to be paranoid about sound leakage all the time when I'm spending £120/£140 on headphones and £50 on a mic, nearly £200 is too much to spend to have to constantly worry about such issues especially when I just wanna relax and game with my friends. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated, also would either of these headphones benefit from a DAC/AMP and if so would they be usable without a DAC/AMP because that would be a purchase for down the road as I cannot afford to purchase them with one.

Im going to buy a new pair of headphones, theres a local discount on Sennheiser headphones and they got pretty good prices (well here this kind of articles are not cheap here in Colombia), reading some posts i noticed that the 5XX are pretty much the same , my question is ¿Does it really worth to expend a litte more on the 579 or should i buy the 559?, the diference is like 20 usd Greetings from Colombia

I am looking for a good gaming headset or headphone with (mod)mic combination. I am kinda lost in all the different opinions. A lot of people seem to be recommending Cloud 2, but there are also alot of people claiming they are garbage compared to some headphones like m50. However M50 seems to have a bad soundstage which is not what you want when gaming. When it comes to wired vs wireless, quality is more important compared convenience to me. Seems to me wired>wireless in terms of audio quality. What i am looking for is a headset/headphone with fairly good bass and a good soundstage under € 200,-. I am mainly gaming and listening a lot of music in which i like a good bass. EDIT: i prefer over-ear cups and noise isolation. My previous headset was a Logitech G430 which broke. I was hoping you guys could help me out here.

I know it's a bit much to ask for under 100 bucks but what are some budget IEMs that have decent to good soundstage and imaging? Sound quality is also important of course.

Hello. I'm a bit confused about my new headphones. I've always used gaming headsets in the past and my Corsair H2100 is starting to break. I never really liked them to begin with so I wanted to buy new ones. I came to realize that I really don't need a mic, and people keep saying how much better real headphones are so I thought I might as well buy that. I did some research on what headphones would be the best for my budget and setup. It came down to either Sennheiser HD 598 or Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro. But since I do not have a soundcard, AMP or DAC, I picked the HD 598. I was able to get refurbished ones for 165 dollars, where new ones would be around 188 in Sweden. Anyways, I'm not at all impressed with them. I'm using them with a USB soundcard that came with the Logitech G430. I can't get my motherboard sound to work, and I've heard that the USB soundcard is better anyway. Without EQ, the mids actually hurt my ears when listening to somewhat high volumes, regardless of the genre. I was able to get them to sound decent after EQing. But only decent. Right now they sound almost identical to my Corsair HD 2100 , which is a cheap wireless gaming headset. Both in terms of audio quality and soundstage. Shouldn't the HD 598 be light-years better? Any idea why I'm experiencing this? I didn't buy them from ebay or amazon. Bought them on CDON.com, which is one of the top electronic sites in Sweden. So i know they're not fake. I've tried to use them on my PC, Macbook air and my Samsung Galaxy S4, and its all the same. Will getting an AMP + DAC dramatically improve the overall sound quality? I'm listening to lossless music btw, although I don't even know if there's any benefits to it with my setup. I am not an audiophile and i probably don't have any idea what i'm talking about.

Title pretty much sums it up, I'm looking for some suggestions for either an open or closed headphone around $200-300. I've read the sticky "The Audio Board's Recommended Gear" but the small descriptions aren't very much to go on and honestly there's a lot of suggestions there and I've started to go through them but trying to get a good sample size (10-15+) of reviews for 50+ headphones is a bit overwhelming with so many contradicting reviews out there and with everyone with their own tastes. I don't have a ton of experience and definitely wouldn't call myself an "audiophile" more like a tech-enthusiast who appreciates good audio, so I'm hoping some more experienced audio-enthusiasts can help guide me towards some of their favorite suggestions from their own experiences. Here's some info to go on for starts though; First off I'm not sure if I want open or closed back headphones, I live in a bachelor with my partner and I don't want to bother her too much while I'm on my computer so I'm wondering how loud open headphones are as I've never actually owned a pair? Does it sound as if I'm just playing music/games/media on speakers to others in the room? Because if its going to sound that loud I probably can't go with something like that and might as well play it on my speakers to begin with.. Also if I play games on open headphones will people I'm talking to on my mic hear the background noise from my open headphones? Because I'll be using these headphones mostly for casual music listening and gaming (I have an Antlion mod mic already so no worries there). I'd prefer neutral to warm headphones and more lush and rich sounding rather than bright although I don't want basshead headphones muddying up things, I'd also rather not sacrifice mids as my current daily drivers, audio-technica ath-m50x's, are V-shaped not to mention have absolutely no soundstage.. So basically I'm asking for suggestions in finding something that sounds lush and full of body with good soundstage and imaging.

Totally kidding about that title...but really I've got a question for you audio gurus out there. I know how you can measure objectively the "sound" of a set of headphones, and in its most simplest terms can be summarized into a frequency graph (I know it's much more complicated than that). A neutral set of headphones will produce a "flat" or "ideal" frequency response curve. Then how do you objectively measure the other flashy audiophile words? What represents "detail"? Above all how do you measure soundstage? How can you objectively measure a headphone's soundstage and directly compare it to another headphone's soundstage?

I recently became a audiophile and I wanted to have a better headphone. So I started thinking, what type of sound do I like? And I found out that i really really like the sound of my current headphones. The hyperx Cloud. Really tight and punchy bass. deatailed highs and great mids. Although there is something missing. The sound stage sounds really closed-back. Because they are. So are there any headphones out there that have the same sound signature but are open back and or have a wider sound stage. Price is no problem. Well let's say max 200 dollar.

I play my fair share of CS:GO and so I know the importance of being able to pinpoint the enemy's location based on their footsteps. My problem is that I don't know what is best to pinpoint the sounds. People say a wide soundstage is better than Dolby 7.1, Dolby 7.1 is better than everything, Razer Surround is amazing, etc. I'm pretty confused at what is best and I want to buy a new headset/headphones. I currently use the Logitech G230 with Razer Surround and I think it's nice, but I hear that the soundstage is bad, so I can't hear enemies from far away. TLDR: I want to know who would win Dolby 7.1 vs good soundstage vs Razer surround in a battle to help pinpoint enemy locations in FPS. Also, please tell me if I should keep my G230s with Razer Surround or suggest some headphones/a headset under $100. Thanks. -
I've already decided not to get Dolby 7.1 because everyone says that it's not really necessary and there is convincing evidence too (just a little background, I play my fair share of CS:GO). (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/331886-71-headphones/) Well anyways, I figured out that a good soundstage can make a difference though. Apparently, a good one can let you hear stuff farther away that you wouldn't hear on headphones with a mediocre soundstage. It's just that I don't know any headsets with good soundstages under $100. Also, if you recommend a pair of headphones, can you please make it under or equal to $60 because I intend to use a ModMic 4.0 ($40) if I don't use a headset. Thanks. TLDR: Well you're lazy lol, but please recommend a $100ish headset, or $60ish headphones with a good soundstage. Thanks.

Hi, I'm new to the linusTechTips forums. I'm looking for some headphones under $300. I listen to both electro and acoustic songs. I want a good soundstage, a neutral sound and a good, though not muddy bass. I recently bought an O2 amp from mayflower electronics (IDK why I did that before getting the headphones). I currently own a sennheiser HD202, which I EQ to get a close to neutral sound. The bass on that is excellent, It vibrates my head when I use V4A and put +10 db on 30Hz. That is the type of bass I want (not that strong though). I also own the jaybird bluebuds x and I also EQed these to close to neutral. I get the same sound with my EQ on poweramp compared to accudio's profile, with very slightly more "excitement" This is what I found out : HD600 : Extremely neutral sound, nice bass, though a bit quiet, a good soundstage size and some amazing soundstage quality and imaging(PLZ, somebody explain what this is). This is supposedly the best option. K702 : Too quiet bass, gigantic soundstage size, but of inferior quality. The sound is not as neutral. DT880 : small soundstage since this is a semi-open model, neutral sound. So for me, which one would be the best.

So currently i have an ATH M50, they are very good sounding but that soundstage though.....ehm not the best, i mainly play BF4, its REALLY hard to spot enemy footsteps. now im searching what's the best headphone for me. what i want/need : - Budget 200$, can be raised if needed... - GOOD/EXCELLENT soundstage. - good overall sound for music, i kinda want it to be like my M50, no overpowered anything but can still identify each instrument when it plays. - Closed back, open is not an option. - Circumaural. if not then a supra aural is ok as long the ear pads are comfy and NOT like my M50's where it just squish my ears. - lightweight - immersive feeling?... I'm currently looking at the Sennheiser HD 449, are these any good? so yeah help and suggestions please! also sorry for grammar, i'm kinda in a hurry typing this post.
