Hi when I use a 3.5 mm headset I get good audio but my mic super low even after maxing it out in windows and any app , also it picks up desktop audio. When I use a USB headset everything works fine . My drivers are all up to date and the bios too . I guess I have an issue with my soundcard , any ideas what I can do ?

I've perused a few posts and been googling a few days without finding an exact solution, and wondering if someone may have some insight. Sorry to be wordy, I want to try to cover all the info so people don't have to ask a bunch of questions I should already include. I'm looking to replace using onboard audio, though I fall into the "don't necessarily need to" camp, but half of my use case is giving me grief. Current specs/items: ASUS ROG Maximus X Code mobo Beyerdynamic DT 880 Special black 600 ohm headphones Yamaha AVR HTR-5240 / Klipsch R52C center/ R51M fronts Behringer X1204USB mixer -related, also have a Soundblaster G6 and another cheap USB sound chip/card. If there's another key item that you want to know, let me know, I think that's basically the items involved. A. The basic setup -- optical out from onboard mobo into my AVR, to power my speakers and all my audio runs through this most of the time. **on a whim, I recently tried using the G6 as my "main" audio and hooked it (mini toslink to toslink) to my AVR and though I feel like it shouldn't make so much difference, it really seemed to open up a lot of sound and things seemed to be clearer and better - so option 1 could simply be, get another G6. B. The secondary setup and use -- the audio from my PC is also being used for (twitch) streaming, which leads to looking for another audio solution to replace using the onboard audio. Ignoring part A as it doesn't relate to how this is used in this purpose: 1. onboard audio on mobo from Gaming PC using 1/8th to dual 1/4 into Behringer mixer on Line In 7/8. 2. cheap USB soundchip from Gaming PC using 1/8th to dual 1/4 into Behringer mixer on Line In 5/6 3. Soundblaster G6 from Gaming PC using 1/8th to dual 1/4 into Channel 3 and Channel 4 (hard panned L and R) 4. this is where I use the DT880 headphones for monitoring/gaming/stream - into the headphone jack on the mixer Now, for both of these, I don't have to change any hardware, I just have to change Windows sound output from "amp" to "line out" when streaming, and change it back when I'm done and then I carry on using my AVR and speakers instead of the mixer. This setup isn't broken in any way, but it feels like it has some areas to improve, and one of them is that the audio from the G6 is way better than my onboard audio. Now, the G6 goes into two mic channels that are amped - so I do have some gain adjustment - and maybe I should just swap these around, because for some reason my line-out from onboard audio is just REALLY quiet, with all volumes maxed. I swear it didn't used to be that way, that I had adequate volume adjustment with the slider in the past, and I tend to blame this on Windows somehow because all my sound issues tend to be because of Windows updates. That being said, I got to looking at DACs to replace using my onboard audio, and to hopefully find a combo DAC/headphone amp sufficient to power my DT880s - AND that also has an optical out so that I can use it to run audio to my AVR as I'm currently doing. I DO NOT NEED A HEADPHONE AMP THOUGH, that part truly is secondary - it is more wishful thinking. I have a feeling that the better opinions will always be to get two separate items anyway and not something that does both, but again the DAC is the main part, and fixing/improving my sound source. So far what I've found, which sort of meets criteria but maybe not perfect: a. the Topping D10 Balanced - which actually has balanced dual 1/4 outs which would be perfect to run to a mixer, and has optical out. However, not a headphone amp/preamp. b. Soundavo HP-DAC1 - roughly the same price as the Topping, has RCA outs instead of 1/4 jacks though, has optical out, and has a headphone preamp - Headphone Output Level: 0.1% THD 1KHz 32mW (32 ohm) c. FX Audio DAC-SQ3 - which looks like a low end non-branded Topping? They are sold under the same "name" on Amazon so I'm not sure on this. It looks to be the same as the D10 but with RCA. It has volume, but no headphone jacks. I keep digging and most of the headphone amps with DAC that I find do not have optical outs. The DAC I find with optical outs don't seem to also be headphone amps. The weird Soundavo HP-DAC1 might be the best solution but I'm not seeing much mention of it anywhere, and not sure if it is a solid piece, or just a solid...piece of garbo. Does anyone have any input, opinions, or ideas on this? I often find the magical niche area where no one makes an item that fits exactly what I need, and it feels like I'm at it again with finding a moderately priced item with a strong enough headphone amp and good DAC, with proper outputs. Thoughts? Am I looking for a unicorn, and should I just focus on a DAC with proper outputs instead of both? Also, I could use a DAC with XLR outs, and I "can" use RCA which would make it more universally usable for other situations, but balanced TRS 1/4 is pretty rad.

I bought two 3.5mm to 6.35mm audio jack converter for my M-Audio soundcard, suddenly one of my converter go bad. When I plugged in the jack fully the sound is like sh*t and mono but when I pulled the jack a bit the sound go normal and when I touched it a bit the sound go off again. But I often unplugged and plugged it. After I swapped with another one, it works fine

I bought a AE-5 Plus to fix an audio issue to my home theater receiver, but can't figure out how to output to my receiver through rfid and a headset at the same time. Headset is plugged into the mic and headphone 3.5mm on the soundcard. I am trying to have game sound on receiver and chat on headset both off the soundcard, is this possible? The command software will only allow me to switch between them. Thanks in advance if any knows and has time.

So does there is any difference between using output from the back of the motherboard and the output from the monitor. Is theres any explanation which will produce better sound? My theory is that the output from the mobo will have a better sound because they being processed using a high quality capacitor, but how about from the monitor. The audio output from the monitor is generated by the hdmi. But I dont find any difference between using audio output from the monitor and using audio output from the mobo, because they both support 24bit 41khz.

Hey there! I'm kinda struggling with trying to change my audio setup. I currently have a Pioneer VSX-D510 (I know its ridiculous for this setup but I got it for free) which I have my AKG K712 Pro's plugged into. This is connected with Optical to my PC since my onboard audio is horrific. For size limitations I want to get a smaller setup for this so I have been looking at soundcards or external combo solutions (Would've loved to get my hands on Schiit but its basically impossible to buy in Europe atm). In the future I'd love to be able to hook a PS5 and maybe even my Nintendo Switch up to it aswell so I can easily just use one device for this. Are there soundcards out there that allow you to plug in something like a game console and pass the audio through your pc? Or is an external solution the only option there. Hoping I can find something for under €250 preferably and I was wondering if people had experience with a similar situation? Bramskebab

Hey, i have a little question and i hope i can get an answer. currently i have windows 10 pro i am using a strix raid dlx soundcard and a Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming my main issue is that after a fresh boot let's say about 90% of the time my soundcard would seem to not be detected. but a few hours later it always picks it up. and from that point on it works perfectly withouth any trouble whatsoever untill ofc i turn the pc off and on again. this problem seems to presist and is most likely windows bound. (or internally in the card itself.) since i have experiences this problem since a windows 10 update on my previous build. so the odds it's the motherboard or any other part is small since it's a complete new build yet the problem remain's ( ofc it might be a setting issue wich i am unaware off) Can anyone offer some advise? or is it basically window beeing windows again and not fixing the issue since not enoug people have it? regular onboard audio works fine as does gpu audio in case anyone was wondering.

Hey, Long story short, how do you connect the speakers and subwoofer to the AE5? Which cable do I need? The setup was going to be speaker wire from right speaker to left (powered) then RCA (male) to RCA male on my X-Fi Titanium HD (which doesn't work with the recent Windows 10 it seems). Then I worked around it and connected the powered speaker through 3,5mm to the on-board 3,5mm jack (green) in order to make use of them for now. While it also supports Bluetooth I'd rather not use it for this desktop. The soundcard has Left, Right channel and Center for the Sub, but it looks like banana plugs or something (never used those)?? Wouldn't that mean that either the left or right channel isn't occupied....it's driving me crazy. The card is on the way, but you can see what I mean through the links and videos below. All in all, I'm trying to get the best experience out of them. Does the subwoofer now go directly to the soundcard or? https://www.thomann.de/gb/audio_cables.html?ref=intl&shp=eyJjb3VudHJ5IjoiZ2IiLCJjdXJyZW5jeSI6NCwibGFuZ3VhZ2UiOiJlbiJ9 (will be buying from them, in case you want to point out which I need exactly) Thanks in advance,

I went to the recycling site in my town to trash some foliage and I brought my No.2 as usual, this time I got among the souvenirs I scavanged this soundcard, according to the internet a "Creative Sound Blaster 32 PnP, model CT3670 ISA 16-Bit". I know very little about sound cards and even less about old ones, but I was curious about the possibility to connect this one to my pc, with an adapter if available. And if It's even worth doing at all. My current board is a MSI b450 Tomahawk max. I don't know what motherboard was this card attached to but in the same system there was a Pentium-A80502150, If that can be useful.

Hello. I have an Asus Strix g731gt laptop and I suspect, that the sound card has a problem. After owning it for 2 months it started giving out a minimal amount of Coil noise and the speaker gives out a crackling noise at higher sound levels. On top of that, when a headset is plugged into the combojack I can sometimes hear popping sounds. It still has warranty so I sent it back, according to the seller one of the speakers was busted so they replaced it and then claimed the problem was solved. After using it for another week the speaker vibrates lightly at high volume levels and the popping sounds in the headset are still not fixed, people I talk to on skype and discord can hear it too. The popping sound is random. I wish to identify the true problem before sanding it back once again , because they won't do it themselves and would charge me for sending it to them again. I attach a picture about an error message from a software which is checking for audio problems (LatencyMon) , it blames the CPU thottling. https://ibb.co/v3bH2Nq There is a link with videos about the problem : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gsLwBbQopxbgAjxSnIk6eZ6h-kU80avT?usp=sharing I am looking for any help i can get.

Hey guys, so far I was using my onboard audio (MB: MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX) with a HyperX Cloud 2 for gaming/chatting and Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 Ohms for listening to music and watching movies etc. I know that these headphones are pretty decent and so I want to upgrade my PC to get full use of my Beyerdynamics. First of all, I thought about an external sound card, so I can use it as well for my phone and tablet. My second thought was a PCI-E sound card only for my PC. But the price shouldn't be way higher than 50€ (around 60$). In this price range, is there any useful option or would the increase in sound quality just be too low, for even starting to invest money? Thanks for your help

My headphones are extremely loud. Currently I have them at 25% volume or so on the headphones themselves and my Windows volume is 32. Apps like Chrome have to be set even lower. In addition to the loud volume, my mic is pretty much dead. I ran through 3 headphones, all of which had the same issues. All of their mics died in a few months. Current headphones: HyperX Cloud Stinger Current Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370 HD3P. Would getting USB headphones prevent them from getting damaged by the current? That's what my friend suggested. My PC is 2 years old by the way and I've had these issues ever since I built the PC. What should I do?

I have been using onboard sound chips for more than ten years. But I could never forget how amazing when I replaced my onboard AC97 with a Sound blaster Live twenty years. I'm going to build a new PC for gaming and streaming recently, so considering to bring back a separated sound card. I have two candidate now: AE-5 Plus and AE-7. AE-5 plus is cheaper, but I really like ACM included in AE-7. Are the built-in mic and controller as well its slightly better DAC worth $60? Thanks

I'm using an external UA-4FX usb audo capture soundcard, and have the drivers installed. When I listen to my self on discord or in obs, the mic quality is perfect, but with shadowplay it's very poor. I check if it's set to the correct input, and it is. Some people suggested to change the quality settings in windows, but it's grayed out for me, like this: At the top it says "Analog input". This is the only active microphone, I disabled all the others.

Alrighty all, I have been on a quest to really get my stream setup exactly how I want it. I'm running into the age old issue of multiple stereo line outputs. Any one know of pcie soundcard that support multiple outs? To clarify, I'm not talking about 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1. Just plain and simple stereo outs. Thanks in advance! Shoe91

http://en.europe.creative.com/p/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-z i'm wondering if this sound card is worth it since it's quite old, right now i'm using the soundcard built in to the asus Z170 pro gaming mother board. and i have the logitech z906 5.1 surround speaker system

So I have a Lenovo Y50 and I'm planning on buying a condenser microphone. I would need an output voltage of 5 volts or more to get the best sound out of it. Is my soundcard recent enough?

Hello all, My old gaming headset (Corsair H1500) just broke. I am new looking for some new headset that also upgrade my old one. I have been watching alot of youtube vids and rode alot of reviews about all kind of headset. Insteat of knowing better what I wanted, now I doubt even more. I play mainly CS:GO comp, but want to have a solid sound for future games too. What i had in mind: headset: Sennheiser game zero Aamp+CAD: Creative soundblaster G5 My onboard audio card on my motherboard is the: Realtek ALC1150 115dB SNS HD Audio What i also looked at are the: Sennheiser gsp300 or hyperX cloud 2. For USB headsets the sennheiser gsp350, Sennheiser 373D, logitech G933. Even the astro set pasted my thoughts. Can anyone help me out with my dilemma? thanks.

A month ago i got a new RX470 strix and it seems that in some games like csgo after 5 mins of gameplay my pc crashes and restarts in other games like rise of the tomb raider everything works fine. According to the minidump files it seems that the problem is with my asus xonar dg sound card. So i uninstalled the asus driver and it seems that fixed the problem but is there anyway i can fix this issue and still use my soundcard when playing games? my specs are: i5 3570 Rx470 strix 12gb of ram Gigabyte z77x-d3h cx500 watt psu

Hello, I have seen some videos on youtube with how to get better sounds and they said use DTS in Realtek but i dont have the dts in my realtek, why can that be ?

People have been saying the HyperX Cloud sounds dull when running on onboard audio(?). The Asus B250M-K comes with a Realtek ALC887 (which funny enough I couldn't find on Realtek's website) which is capable of running higher impedance speakers though (the HyperX Cloud has 60 ohms of impedance). Should I try onboard audio first or should I straight go for a dedicated PCIe/USB soundcard or headphone amp?

As my PC's front panel Audio jack does not work any more so i decided to buy and Sound Card which i did but now it does not pick my headphones or Woofer (speakers) at a same time. It does work separately. The thing i want to achieve is that: I want to get sound from Headset + Woofer system ( Speakers ) at the same time If i switch off my woofer system ( speakers ), i get sound from Headset. Any Idea how can i do that? I'll update this thread with Pictures of sound card ports and In windows sound settings in a while.

Hi, I'm planning a new PC for music production ... it will have to handle lots of VSTs, which chew through CPU power like nothing (the software is able to use multiple cores). So I'd like to know what is better for this task, a Ryzen 7 1800x (8 cores, 3,6 GHz) or a Intel Core i7 6850K (6 cores, 3,60GHz)? In this review, they say that Intel chips handle VSTs better: ... but maybe the 2 more cores would get the Ryzen ahead? And does a soundcard help with VST workloads? Especially for cinematic productions I need like 30 or 40 instruments in 1 project and I don't want to run into bottlenecks concerning CPU, RAM or soundcard. Thanks

Hello, I’ve got a Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS. I’ve been using it for years and recently installed it into my new gaming PC. Since this card was made almost 15 years ago, I was wondering whether it is a good idea to upgrade to a newer one. I usually just use my headphones with my computer, but I do have an ear for audio and appreciate good sound. Every now and then I use my Logitech Surround Sound Setup with my audio card. Anyways, are there any reasons/advantages to upgrading to a new card? The Logitech surround Sound has its own built in Amplifier (in the sub), and the headphones don’t have that high an impedance. I mostly use my Bose QuietComfort 2.
