Hello guys! im looking into getting into photography, i have only ever did photography on my iphone 14PM but recently, i wanted to have take better photos. i will mainly use it for travel, street, food, lifestyle. No professional work, just doing this for hobby. So a small compact camera will be a plus for me My first choice is the X100v (and possibly the rumored successor coming out this year) but due to the limited availability and inflated prices i thought why not just go for a full frame if im spending that much on a used x100v? i think i might also be limited with the fixed lens on the x100v My second choice is to get the Sony a7cii due to its compact size. With this, is it worth it to go for the sony over the fuji? --- if im to get the Sony, i have 2 options for the lens; Sony 35mm f1.4 GM and the Sony 40mm f/2.5 G Lens. --- i like the 35mm as it's a nicer lens and based on reviews it's super nice and 35mm is better for street and travel but it's bigger than the 40mm lens (a7cii and 40mm lens is more like the x100v formfactor) Thanks for the responses!!

I have been loving my XM4s until one day. This happed, sitting alone and not charging the case popped open with a puff of smoke and smells, confused i tot to googling, (with a reddit tag otherwise no useful info) and I stumbled upon a smalll form with othes seeeming to have had the exacty same situation as me. Hard to find, and a serious danger, Seems like this one has been swept under the rug a bit... I only found out due to the fact that mine decided to explode when I wasn't looking, sony hasn't asked for a recall and chooses to to replace them with the newer xm5s because the battery manufacturer they went with cut connners. I'm just glad it didn't happen while in use like a the fellow in this fourm: My Sony WF-1000XM4 exploded on my desk... : r/SonyHeadphones - Reddit Sound like a Canadian class action is already in the works, and hopefully people will hear about this, I feel as if this is just going to to be a hush hush replacement until someone really gets hurt. But as for me I bought mine used, so no warranty for me. Least I got to get them signed by LS before the blew up. Hopes this sheds some light in an otherwise ignored topic.

Hey guys, I have an old Sony Xperia Z tablet which was bought used when it was already long in the tooth and then used as a kitchen Youtube device for a while. Sadly at this point no apps really support it anymore, Android 5.1.1, any the hardware wouldn't be much good anyway nowadays, can barely decode 1080p browser streams. I have been trying to find a way to keep it as a functional display (with video/audio), but the software implementation has been problematic. Sony was deep into its own Bravia/Xperia ecosystem by then ~2012, backed by Miracast apparently, but all the functionalities seem to be focused around casting to the TV, not to it specifically, even tough in the One Tap Setup it does list "Mirror your Xperia Phone Screne on your Xperia Tablet". However, ofcourse i don't have a Sony Xperia 2012 phone and i'm trying to get my Samsung S10e to cast to it. They don't find eachother over the network, setting up Mirroring on the tablet actually puts me into a "mirror on a big screen", not offering any other option, and the One Touch Connect which would use NFC, just gives me a NFC read error when trying with my phone. I'd really love to keep using it as a small display and i'm willing to root it to keep it usable. Also, while the S10e is primary concern, i'd like to also use it with my girlfriend's Pixel. I have found apps which can just share the screen, but there's significant audio latency or just don't pick up audio at all.

My Sony VAIO VPCEH1L8E has gradually stopped charging over the past 18 months. At first it would charge intermittently then it would only charge using certain sockets and in the past 6 months it has stopped charging almost entirely. It occasionally charges to no more than 9% then stops. I am looking at replacing the PSU first then the battery. The PSU cable is worn in sections from being caught in covers for recessed floor sockets so needs replacing anyway. Should I purchase a replacement Sony VGP-AC19V33 from eBay or should I purchase a universal laptop charger? Bearing in mind around 5 years ago I upgraded the Core i3-2310m (35W TDP) to a Core i7-2720QM (45W TDP) which was never an option on this model. The CPU appears to boosts very close to its advertised maximum frequency of 3.3GHz when under load so it must be drawing more power than the system was designed for. Just wondering whether the laptop would benefit from a more modern and powerful charging solution. As an aside I would also appreciate any thoughts on purchasing a replacement laptop battery in the UK. There are a lot of online retailers that sell the correct battery but not sure what quality and lifespan I should expect from a third party battery.

Hi everyone, I recently pulled out my old Sony Vaio handheld PC VGN-UX180P from storage and decided to finally replace the cracked screen I broke back in high school (it was kicked on the ground...) and rendered the touch screen unusable. Its a pretty unique little computer, very ahead of its time in terms of features. It runs Windows XP (some later ones came with Vista), has two cameras, a slide up keyboard reminiscent of the old flip phones back then, supports SD cards and a SIM slot and a USB2.0 port. A cool gadget that I'd eventually like to find some use for... So I replaced my screen with a new one from EBAY, but there was an issue with the touch screen - touching anywhere on the screen would peg the mouse pointer to the top of the display, however, I can still move it left or right. I can't move the pointer up and down at all. Note that this only occurs when I touch the screen, I can still use the built in mouse stick to control the pointer while not touching it. Does this seem like an issue with the new display or a bad ribbon cable? I want to know if I should request a refund/replacement for it while I still can. I already tried re seating the ribbon cables and cleaning the contacts with IPA. I also noticed a single dead pixel in this new display, so I'm leaning towards it being a problem with the LCD. Thanks!

I installed Samsung Evo 870 250GB SSD on my Sony Vaio SVE1513ACNB. It is giving Sequential read of 558MBPS, and write of 371 MBPS. When I bootup the system, a buzzing sound comes from near the SATA Case, I held my ear against it. Then I tried boot up the system by SATA connector from same SSD. It couldn't do it BUT I connected it as external storage and it was making a minor buzzing sound when ear is placed near SSD. I don't know if it is normal or not. Though it is a very minor sound and should be normal for electrical devices. Does someone know if SSD should make buzz sound (like electrical buzz sound)? OR Will it damage the PC? Though the HDD had much more sounds like grinding , buzzing etc.

I have laptop which turns 10 next month. I want to change its HDD 500 Gb to SSD . I asked on Sony Support , but they said " its not recommended to do changes with storage as the company has shut down its operations in India " . He didn't bother to explain the technical reason. Is there really something that I shouldn't change it? Also the HDD has aged 10 years. I checked the disk and I've attached the results from this software. Should I use SSD? Edited: Does anyone know what writing/reading speed would I get in this laptop if I use 550MBPS SSD.

Youtube channel Installation00 has received multiple fraudulent copyright claims from 3rd party companies that are not the original copyright holder, nor associated with them. Installation00's main library of music comes from the Halo content they cover. Which is owned by Microsoft and is released under their Game Content Usage Rules policy with permission for content creators to make monetised content. One of these companies is Sony Music Publishing. Not only are their claims against Microsoft's IP, there are also fraudulent claims against music in the public domain. Herman Li from Dragonforce also recently published a video on TikTok explaining that the DragonForce YouTube channel had also reciev3d fraudulent copyright claims for their own music! Youtube's copyright system is completely broken, and allows for illicit 3rd parties to abuse the system and damage the incomes of smaller creators. Installation00 has notified Microsoft of the infringements of their IP, so we may see another legal battle between Sony and Microsoft soon enough Sources

Hi I've recently bought a sony vaio laptop and i have a weird problem. I thought that hdd is the problem so i got new ssd and installed windows on it. Laptop at first worked just fine after windows installed. Right after i've turned off laptop to reboot, it didn't go to windows. It shows windows logo, dots spin and screen flashes and nothing. I got it working again after leaving it for a few days. Windows was repairing and it booted up again. I tried even playing on it for a bit to see if it's gonna crash or smth. Nothing happened but i wanted to see if the problem is gone. I've shutdown laptop to see that it won't boot to windows again. Do you know what might be the cause? Procesor is at 100% almost all the time if it helps in anything. I thought maybe it's getting too hot and it needs to cooldown to boot to windows properly. I don't know what is the reason. Hope you can help me out here. Thanks for reading

So SONY very recently announced that they sold more than 40M units of their new console PS5 in a tweet or X or whatever it is called nowadays.. Which put me into very serious thought because I advocated long time ago (starting with nvidia ridiculous prices before the so called "Shortage" which was artificial induced via marketing and missinformation in order to bulge the profit margins of those companies) and really believe all that shortage hoax should become a netflix documentary (and plausibly will become in a few years ) and is just a series of domino effects of greed in a market with essentially 0 regulation. My question is this, how come if there were shortages they managed to produce about the same number of consoles (if not more -since they dont claim exactly 40M units sold but OVER 40M units sold) in the same time as they did with PS4 (which had a very regular price and very regular production with practically 0 shortages throughout) Eg here is the longest price history I could find from a "best price" search engine https://geizhals.eu/ which indexes the prices of many e-shops and physical stores in europe and compares their prices. It does not go as back as 2013 when PS4 launched but most of you can remember that PS4 did not have price spikes and it launched in europe at about 399 euro (also in case your cant understand german the prices in the graphs refers to bundles so they are more expensive that just the console ) and here is the same graph but for PS5/disc version 0 bundle So at about 3 years + a few months after its original launch PS5 price "falls down" to a little bit over what was supposed to be its MSRP (so now it is sold a little bit over 450 euro) while its price initially reached and exceeded 1099 euro (which at that time was more than $1100 american) Because of this artificial shortage. And I call it an artificial shortage simply based on the production numbers here is a graph of consoles sold in millions of units (source: https://www.statista.com/statistics/222403/unit-sales-of-sonys-gaming-hardware-by-category/) In which we can see see that within 3 years of PS4's launch (since it has been 3 years since the PS5's launch that sony tweeted the over 40M PS5 units sold claim via the tweet shown above) sony sold about 47 Million units so either the same or a little more than PS5 (since I assume if the sales exceeded 45 million they would say over 45 million instead of over 40, so to say over 40M I believe they mean a figure between 40M and 45M but not equal to or greater than 45M) Notice also that the first months of PS5 sales (in units) the numbers are very comparable with the first months of PS4 units sales (in other words the production was the same more or less ) Also within the first 3-3.5 year cycle with that demand PS4 started at 400 euro in the EU and fell down to prices even lower than 280 euro!!! While PS5 in same 3-3.5 year cycle with the SAME more or less demand/units sold started with prices that exceeded 1000 euros!! and during most of that period were well above 500 euros and most of the time well above 600 euros!! And I cant explain this other than the shortages being a hoax/artificial fake news. I mean how come that the PS5 units selling at the same rate at launch as the PS4 units sold and claiming that there is a shortage (while there was no hint of shortage during the PS4 launch) They claimed that because yes they sold the same number of units but more people wanted to acquire a PS5 compared to a PS4? If that was so then how come that within 3 3.5 years they essentially sold the same or a little less number of units compared to the PS4? <-- this indicated to me that the demand is the same. Also I cant assume that there was initially a shortage but then they started double time with more shifts and whatnot and increased the production because again the units sold are more or less the same as PS4 <-- which also (given the theoretical assumption that after shortages production increased to catchup and finally sony be able to produce the same number of untis) means that the price should fall since increased production but same units sold means decreased pricetag due to lower demand compared to production rate. So we have same production , same amount of units sold within a period of 3 to 3,5 years since launch and about the same MSRP But everyone who wanted a PS4 at the launch or during the first 3.5 years got it at MSRP or considerably lower While everyone who wanted a PS5 at launch got to see prices even above 1000 euro (which equals more than 1000 usd) and during the first 3.5 the price was well above msrp (selling at 600 euro or more most of the time) and only recently (a few days to a couple of months) prices a little above MSRP (so a little above 450 euro) started to be found in stores in the EU.

Summary A leaked video posted on Twitter (via Reddit & Imgur) has shown a basic version of the console with a very simple interface. This may not be the final product, but a good look at what is operating this device. Quotes My thoughts (take this article with a small grain of salt) Android? I expected Sony to make their own operating system. Of course, not a complete new system, but like a dumbed-down PS5 operating system. I do believe this being powered by Android may be a big possibility for 3rd-party games. This is shaping to be a better competitor to the Steam Deck. If Sony does it right, this can run Android games. More choices that Steam for sure. Sources the verge

I have my Wf-1000xm4 for over year and a half. Left earbud battery life last only couple hours. Other side is usable but the battery doesn't last as long for obvious reasons. I tried contacting sony support or look if they have repair service and what they replied in the email is that they do repairs only under warranty.

Budget (including currency): $1500 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Photography editing and multimedia production (Adobe Illustrator, Lightroom, Photoshop, etc.) Other details I’m looking to gut and upgrade this Sony Vaio which belongs to my mother. She’s had this computer since 2005 and was a workhorse during our most difficult times. The computer stopped working at the behest of a young and incredibly naive and dumb child (me) around 2011, and I would like to upgrade it with more modern specs. Here are the issues I’m facing: 1) The liquid cooling unit’s placement is installed in such a way that it’s difficult to remove it from the CPU, as it snakes through a thinner part up to the radiator located at the topmost part of the chassis (shown below). 2) I would like to keep the installed dual optical drives, floppy drive, SD and memory stick ports located on the front panel of the computer. I understand modern motherboards don’t have IDE connectors anymore in place of SATA. 3) I would like to try and keep the current liquid cooling unit, however I’m concerned with how it’ll keep up with modern CPUs as this computer was installed with an Intel Pentium D. 4) The power supply is in a really weird spot given the design of the case, and I wonder if a modern power supply would be able to fit in its current spot. This will be my first ever project, so any ideas you may have for how I can navigate this case would be incredibly helpful. Cheers!

I have a 500 GB hard drive from a Playstation 4 Slim. My brother wants me to get the clips off it. The PS4 itself died and is gone. I've read online that even if I had another PS4, it wouldn't help because it would have newer firmware. There is recovery software that I can pay for that seems to extract all the photos and videos off the drive, but that pulls off literally every video and photo, which doesn't seem very useful. I'm not sure what I could do if anything. He has a PS5 now with the same PlayStation account, and as far as I can tell, clips didn't transfer and can't be transferred over the cloud in any way. Does anyone know a way I could somehow get his clips back?

When I received the UMPC (Sony Vaio VGN-UX280P), windows vista worked like a charm, but I wanted to install Linux on it. After getting into the bios (f2) and enabling boot from usb, I can't acces the bios and it won't boot at all. I've tried all combinations (alt f2, alt F10 etc...) And even the bootmenu gives a black screen. The weird thing is that when booting, the Vaio logo does appear but goes black after a while. When using the combination keys, after pressing it for a while and getting the black screen, I get beeps. I've tried removing the battery, using the powercord and keep pressing the power button but no changes... Can someone maybe give me a tip? I'm lost... Thank you

Summary Sony has confirmed a handheld accessory for the PlayStation 5 named (for the moment) “Project Q” at the PlayStation Showcase. Quotes My thoughts Why does it have to be streamed!!!! We could’ve finally had a competitor to the Switch, but of course they are going for the streaming aspect. Haven’t we learned from Stadia? Now, I know those are 2 completely different things, but it’s still streamed games. It will be better because it’s only 30 feet away instead of 300 miles away. I think streaming games is pointless. You can tell me how good streaming games really is, but you need a good argument to change my mind. I also know that someone will switch me into thinking streaming is a good idea. But I’ll try to keep my opinion safe. Sources the verge twitter

Summary After 10 years, Sony and Naughty Dog, using the momentum of the HBO successful TV show, launched the long awaited port of the game "The last of us: Part 1". The game, which is also was certified for the Steam Deck, is running poorly on high end machines including up to 30 minutes for the game to build its shader cache. Quotes My thoughts I work in the enterprise world, where software testing is paramount for a successful product release. Any feature limitation is communicated upfront. In this retail scenario, companies often outsource the development of these ports to an external company that may or may not invest in testing or is limited to an arbitrary release date. I don't believe that while certifying this game on the Steam Deck, the development team didn't encounter this long loading time and shader building being that slow. Another problem is that, based on the Steam return policy, you can get a full refund if you didn't play for 2 hours. The problem is that it takes almost 2 hours to get the game going… Running (or at least trying) to run this game on the Steam Deck is a terrible experience, and one would expect that Naughty Dog, already successfully porting "Uncharted 4" to PC, including running smoothly on the Steam Deck, will release a game that will not have these types of problems. To their credit, in the two days the game was released, the development team released multiple patches to address this issue, but I feel it is already too late that people may not be buying this game. Hello good tech enthusiast's. I have come to a cross road regarding my Sony Ps3 80gb phat Backwards compatible. It has NOT been opened up in it's lifetime. It has from previous owners probably been air dusted from outside. And so have i hence it runs. It runs fine and has not yet started the YLOD. My first ever console died to ylod and i got my hands on this one a year ago. (2022) I guess its inevitable with YLoD. Can i do anything to keep it alive for preservation? The questions. 1.A Should i be happy it works for now and not touch it? 1.B Or should open it up, break the warrantyseal to swap paste and clean it deeply? (With all the risks of opening a console, and likely not getting the heatsink tight enough like stock sony. ) 2.A What are the most common pitfalls trying to do the pasteswap? Its my first forum post in my whole life so i hope it doesnt break any rules? Thanks for reading. Rocky.

Hello All, I have a very strange issue with Bluetooth on my laptop. So I'm running Windows 11 Pro latest version. I've pulled out my Sony WF-1000MX4 earbuds to watch a movie. They connected fine but no audio. This is were things get strange. When they connect they disappear from the playback devices list, disconnect and they show up in the playback devices list as disconnected. I have tried the following: Troubleshooter - Both BT & Audio Uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled. Rolled back Intel Bluetooth Driver from 22.200 to 22.110 Tried an older Realtek Audio driver. Removed the latest installed windows updates Ran sfc /scannow with no violations reported. None of the above have fixed the issue, and I am at a complete loss. Does anyone have any suggestions? P.S I'd rather not have to reset my PC unless it is the absolute last resort.

So the speakers were performing normally. There was electricity going and returning in quick succession. The first two times was alright but the third time, it was accompanied by defeaning noise. Buzzing noise. I quickly switched off the main switch. Disconnected everything else and only left the speakers connected and when I turned it on, the same deafening buzzing noise. No audio would play only noise. And the system isn't a cheap system either. It's a Sony Japan Import. I've run out of warranty as of Nov 2020. So I don't know what to do. Then I isolated the music set-up entirely and took it to another room and tried it. This time I got something like a strange odour and some smell like melting plastic and some bad smelling. Not foul but not pleasant either. Help please. I blew 8k on the system that is ignoring the 1.2k on shipping. What can be the problem? The soundbar is working as a single unit. But the Subs and the traditional 9 speakers aren't. Only noise.

Summary Dbrand has started offering matte black replacement plates for the Sony Playstation 5 console and dares Sony to sue them. The initial waves are sold out and new orders won't ship until May 2021. Quotes My thoughts They look really nice and I am thinking about placing an order myself. Hopefully Sony doesn't actually try to sue Dbrand here since Dbrand is not using the Playstation name or logos on their design at all. I am pretty sure that's why Platestation 5 was forced to shut down and not actually just offering new plates. Hi, I need a new TV for my living room. After a long research I need to make the final decision between the A84J 65"(OLED) or the X94J 75" (LED, Full Array). Their prices are very similar, I would choose OLED if it wasn't for the large viewing distance of 3.8m (12.5ft) and the risk of burnout. For a long time I didn't have a TV so I don't know what is more important in this situation, image quality or size?
