Hi all, I am trying to upgrade my sister's laptop to make it more suitable for her workflow. I want to upgrade her RAM - he has two slots of SODIMM DDR3 memory on her motherboard. One of those slots is already filled with a reasonable Kingston 2Rx8 PC3L - 12800S -11 - 13 - F3 RAM stick (picture attached). Due to the budget constraints, I can't afford to buy 2x8GB RAM sticks, so I am trying to find a matching one. Does anyone know whether the following stick - Kingston 2Rx8 PC3L - 12800S -11 - 12 - F3 would work nicely with the pre-existing stick? Thanks for help. Sorry if this post is off topic or silly, but I am quite new to the whole laptop upgrading thing.

Hello everyone. I’m searching this over internet and I can’t find exact answer for this. I have a MiniPC a HP T630 with AMD GX420GI Processor that Supports DDR4 1866Mhz SODIMM (Max) with the Maximum RAM Capacity Supported of Theoretically 32GB. And of Course I hardly can’t find a RAM that is 16GB with 1866Mhz speed. I Already have a DDR4 16GB 2666MHz. So for safety purposes I didn’t plug my existing RAM. The question is, Does my 2666Mhz supports 1866Mhz Speed? There’s nothing on earth that ever says the Maximum and the Minimum Speed that a RAM can handle. Sorry if my English is bad.

Hello, I have an Asus x556 uqk notebook that has an integrated memory of 8 GB (2133Hz) and one ram slot with a 4 GB (2400Hz) samsung M471A5244CB0-CRC. I have been reading about ram and there are some bottlenecks you have to be careful about like for example the slowest speed is the one that "commands" (in this case 2133Hz). Does this also happen with the amount of memory? Like is my computer really working with 12GB or with 8GB (2x4GB) even thou it shows 12 GB in the task manager? Second question is: I did find a Zenfast DDR4 8GB 2133 Hz Memory on Aliexpress for 30 bucks, would this be a nice upgrade? Or is it just a bad decision? Thanks in advance!! Rodrigo

I have read on reddit that there is a way to configure Jedec ram profiles by writing to the SPD on the ram modules. https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDLaptops/comments/omj6mu/guideproviding_advices_for_tightening_ram_timings/ I have been thinking of making some changes that improve the performance and latency on my NON-XMP laptop a bit, but i was wondering if anyone knows which timings are harmful to mess around with when doing this. Which ram timings can cause serious harm and which timings would you recommend me to change to get the best performance and latency out of a jedec profile? I want to take the safe route and only mess with the timings that dont brick my sticks that easily or cause issues that easily. Current ram kit: hx432s20ibk2/32 3200 cl20 Laptop: Lenovo Legion 7 16achg6

Hey. I own an Asus ROG Gl552vx which comes with 8gb 2133mhz single rank CL15 ram. I want to upgrade to 16gb using another 8gb stick. The problem is that an exactly similar stick isn't available. The memory available in the market is 8gb 2133MHZ dual rank CL15. Can we use single rank and dual rank ram together without it causing any issues ?

I have first XPS 15 L502X which was launched in october 2010. It recently its screen was giving a lot of problem. So I opened it fully and cleaned it and put it back. It kept me giving 4 or 2 beep alerts which mean memory error. So, I tried several combinations of RAMs and slots. It did not work. Then I tried without any RAM. It failed. But then after that, it worked for both RAMs. But then again failed with beeps and then worked. Point is, its not stable. Plus in all that efforts, I broke its screen bracket. Anyway screen was giving an issue. So I thought that what if I totally detach the screen and connect directly to external monitor. But according to this link, it seems that its not possible. I tried and it is giving me 5 beeps alert which is display error. Currently, it is again failing to start. So I was thinking its time to say bye bye this machine. Somehow I dont feel to, as it contains: Core i7 2630QM 16 GB DDR 3 RAM 512 GB SSD Full specs / component list here. What could be the best way I can reuse these / maximum of these / possibly all components to form stable system? I thaught if I can build a mini PC, but seems that there is no motherboard which can support this processor, at least not available now in India. But can I use SSD and RAM in some mini PC? Can someone suggest any motherboard / NUC kit etc? Or else am I left with only option of using SSD with external USB adapter or in some other machine and discard both RAM and processor? Or do you still think I can still fix this machine well?

My laptop, an IdeaPad Gaming 3i, has 8 GB of RAM pre-installed and can be upgraded to 32. There are 2 slots, and there's 8GB 3200MHz in one slot, while the other is empty. Since 8GB is bottlenecking multiple applications I use on a daily basis, I want to upgrade. Now, there's 8GB RAM at around $75 where I live, and 16 GB is around $105. So, naturally, I feel 16 GB is providing me more value for money. However, since I've see this combo rarely, are there any performance side-effects by not using the same capacity RAM? (Note: Frequency is 3200 MHz in every scenario represented)

Planning to get 64GB RAM for my laptop. Choices: 1) 2pcs of Crucial 32GB 3200mhz (CT32G4SFD832A) (cheaper than option 2) 2) 1 set of Crucial 64GB (32x2) 3200mhz (CT2K32F4SFD832A) (costs more than option 1) I couldn't find information if option 1 would still work in dual channel mode. And I couldn't find information if these are good options for my laptop. I kept seeing the Fury Impact RAM, but the 64GB variant is not available in my country.

I am in need to upgrade my razer blade 15 base mid 2021 to at least 32gb memory however I am not sure of the best and most compatible competitors of the SODIMM market. I was looking at these corsair modules (as I am a sucker for brand recognition) which seems like a pretty good deal to me and am most likely to get this. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Vengeance-RAM-32GB-DDR4/dp/B08GSTF5NJ/ref=sr_1_14?keywords=64gb%2Bddr4%2B3200%2Bsodimm&qid=1674028601&sprefix=64gb%2Bddr4%2B3200%2Caps%2C92&sr=8-14&th=1 I would otherwise go for G-Skill or Kingston Fury 32gb however they're out of stock but do have 64gb in stock. If it's worth the plunder I would consider 64gb however 32gb is more than enough for me personally What are the thoughts on these particular modules and the compatibility?

I have a laptop with a built in Samsung RAM M471A1G44AB0-CWE 8GB PC4-25600 DDR4-3200MHz SoDimm 1.2V (1Rx16) and would like to add another RAM so the memory becomes 2×8GB, but I can't find the same exact model in my country. I was thinking that i can pair it with the Samsung RAM M471A1K43DB1-CWE 8GB PC4-25600 DDR4-3200MHz SoDimm 1.2V (1Rx8) but I am still worried. Has anyone tried to combine laptop RAM that has a layout of 1Rx8 and 1Rx16 before? Is it compatible enough to use or should I just buy 2 of 1Rx8 RAM (or 16GB RAM of 1Rx8)? I'm sorry if my English is bad. Kind regards, Teomedic

So there are sodimm adaptor to desktop. But if I used soddim with an adaptor for a mother board that uses ddr3l ram would it work? And I hate ddr3l ram so rare and so expensive

My mobo requires DDR3L 1600 1.35v ram but i installed 1333 ddr3 1.5v on it. When i go to bios, the voltage drops to 1.36v but when i go to CPU-Z my ram is 1.5v again!!! People are saying I should replace it with DDR3L ASAP. What is the worst case scenario if I dont replace my ram (it works fine btw)? If I have to, Im thinking about buying a Sodimm-Dimm adapter and use my DDRL Sodimm on my unused laptop because I cant find any DDR3L desktop memory in my country

I thought about just having 16GB of RAM on my laptop, I have a single 8GB right now (I'll be having this thing for at least 2-4 more years), thing is should I wait for next year's low price or will it just rise up from here on now? I looked at the price history for DDR3 SODIMM, with the lowest during a 1 year timeline, summer of July 2016 was the lowest. I saw a sodimm of 1600 8GB from G.Skill from Canada Computers. Should I buy that stick of sodimm now?

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has visited FreeGeek. I'm looking for DDR3L 1600MHz SODIMM ram modules and was hoping that someone on the forum could confirm whether they held those. I have to get them asap. Thanks.

Hi all! So there's here an adaptor that I have been asking on how it works, and most importantly, if it work without performance decrease or somethin'. So this is what am talking about:https://www.amazon.com/JET-5478MK2-204pin-SODIMM-adapter-Metal/dp/B005F0E26S Reviews say that it works and was tested on X motherboard. 1. How is it possible? Having less pins make it possible? 2. Does it downclock or something? Like 1600Mhz ram downclocks to 1333Mhz? Am thinking on using it on a MSI H81M-E34 with a whoping non overclockable, G3258. Thanks in advance.

I've been reading a bunch of posts about memory and a lot of people mention 1600Mhz memory with a CAS latency of 11 clock cycles as being bad memory, or not of high quality. I'm trying to find either 4x4GB or 4x8GB sticks of 1600Mhz (12800S) DDR3 memory for my laptop. (Thinkpad W530). CAS11 ram is everywhere, CAS9 is much harder to find and much more expensive. I could alternatively go 1333Mhz. Would that be better? Would I notice a difference between C9/C11? Can anyone give me advice? I basically want to upgrade to either 16GB or 32GB of memory, cheaper the better but I want good performance. Kind of a balance. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks. Edit: I'm in Australia.

So I wanted to Upgrade Ram Of My Asus Vivobook s15 (s530un) to 16gb, it has pre-installed SK-Hynix 2400, 8gb ddr4 cl7 ram, now i I can't find another same Hynix one, so now m gonna buy two extra sticks, because, of course, can't find the same module ramSo I was Thinking of Buying " Corsair Vengeance Performance SODIMM CMSX8GX4M1A2400C16 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 (CL16) OR HyperX Impact 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 SODIMM HX424S14IB 8 (CL14) "So which one should I buy cause they have major price Difference, and I need performance upgrade for video editing and stuff, though it already has powerful specs for a notebook but still

Hi, peace, ? I just want to upgrade my old laptop's HDD to SSD & ram to 8GB. I googled but didn't find the exact same model's upgradeability test. I read that upgrading to 8GB is not possible on some other A300 series laptops, but somewhere I read that's because 8GB DDR2 wasn't available in that ancient times! ? It's available from different brands, some ridiculously expensive & some less expensive like: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) SODIMM Laptop Memory RAM OR CORSAIR 4GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Laptop Memory Model VS4GSDS800D2 OR Crucial 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR2 800MHz (PC2-6400) CL6 SODIMM 200-Pin Notebook Memory Modules CT2KIT51264AC800 I want to know if there's any difference (off-course if it's compatible with my old laptop) in performance & latency (with Nemix & Crucial, no mentioning of latency) among these brands? System specs: Toshib Satellite A300 PSAGCE-083006AR Core 2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53GHz 4GB DDR2 400.0 MHz (PC2-6400) win 10 pro 64bit ?

Hello everyone! I have a question about RAM. I want to buy another stick of 8Gb DDR4 memory for my laptop (ASUS GL752VW). I have already one stick in it, it is 8Gb DDR4 Hynix 2133MHz. In Aida64, i checked that it is SDRAM. What does it mean? Can i buy another stick? I doubted this because in the specification for the new RAM, there is no “SDRAM”, just “SODIMM”. Thank you in advance.

What sort of RAM would I look at for a Thinkpad t580, if I bought third party? It is in fact SODIMM right? It's been a while since I've done much with laptops, but it somewhat sounds like they're describing full desktop class RAM. Also am I likely to even get a cheaper price not purchasing the RAM upgrade thru Lenovo? If I ordered the lowest configurable RAM, would the device delivered still support the maximum 36GB, if I ordered elsewhere? Thanks! I really appreciate the help of someone who is more in the thinkpad world

so my Acer Nitro 5 I just have a question should I go 1 single channel 8 gb or dual channel 4gb sticks and also can the nitro handle smthn like 12gb of ram

According to Asus my laptop supporting the ram uprade "up to 16 GB SDRAM". ATM i have 4 (soldered)+ 4GB and it's works perfectly in dual-channel but i wan't to upgrade my 4GB SODIMM to 8GB so i will have 12GB ram. I already checked the recommended SODIMMs here, but the question is: Will the 8GB work in dual-channel with the 4GB?
