Okay so my question is sort of: What is Disqus? But more importantly, why is my Facebook account linked to it? And how is it linked to it? I saw my email address listed in the comments section of an article asking me to verify it. I was confused as to how it knew my email and it turns out it's associated with my Facebook and an old version of my Facebook as well ie. It was using a very very very old picture so I am assuming this is one of those ways to link social media accounts together and comment on articles? I never engage in social media buttons and features outside of the social media sites themselves due to privacy concerns. My issue is I know as a fact I have never heard of Disqus and never created an account with them. Site: https://disqus.com/

Hi, I am trying to do a project for school in which I create a graph for the views of youtube videos. The graph will consist of the date and the amount of view on that video. I am trying to find some raw data for the youtube videos but with no luck. I tried using socialblade, but they only have data on the subscriber count. They also do not allow you to downoad to data as a csv. I tried using google trends, but they do not have view data, but they do allow you to download as csv. Is there anybody who knows a website or way to collect this data as an excel doc. Thank You

So yeah my office (I’m the owner) is down the street from LMG head office in Surrey. Not even a 2min drive. I have no idea how to say hello without making it look totally lame. I’m about the same age of most of LMG and my team is all in their 20-30’s age group. I think it would just be fun to know them as we are basically neighbors. I like tech stuff. I built all of our work stations (no cheap crap with nice gaming mice and Mechanical keyboards) and even put together our NAS and network. So I do have intrest in common. Most of our work is AutoCAD based. I also have odd stuff that that happens like an EVGA 1080 catching fire... T-T and we have a cool 3D scanner that scans whole buildings. Any ideas?

Hello crowd; I feel more confident feeling like I'm pitching to a face than a forum, but it's not really much different. But do want to formally apologize for making any scene on Twitter; I don't have any 'known' voice. Tantrums are not the way, but I was sort of...just trying to be 'noticed'. Hope we can get passed this. I didn't say anything vulgar, it was just an unnecessary amount of targeted tweets. I also never 'used' Twitter; so I don't know the success rate of the average 'notice me' tweet is. I want to propose Elementrus; the idea is to have a unified system that operates over a secure network, here's an analogy: family of 4, phone a piece and maybe a family-pc. Plus a laptop or three. Disclaimer; it's aimed to be a non-profit, free, open service. I don't want to gain profit from this platform, which I think is the biggest reason this will succeed and should be lifted up. Most of them probably play a game, watch streams, movies or news. Social networking. Etc. Nothing super expensive on hardware; nothing that the LTT forum *really* cares about. Would a standard (7th gen. Maybe 8th gen i5) i7 desktop be able to: A) viably produce multiple streams, such as these from an individual PC, deliver them over the local network and have them play on the mobile device B) access remotely, like Google Stadia, but if specifically optimized (more later) a remote-desktop sort of deal. If this above requirements are met (there can be some tweaking, of course) What are the chances of being able to provide a decentralized networking solution, moving forward, using a block chain network. I have not started anything, any work on my own crypto; this is not that, nor there yet. I have a Patreon blog, it's more of the traditional blog type; I don't expect donations, I've no product yet. I want to develop this openly, if I can even do so at all. This is just a disclaimer. I wanted to propose an open source, non-profit social network, that pays you to use it. Pays everyone, fairly, based on contribution levels. It would be able to interact with the current internet, while also offering it's own space. I hope this is enough, please feel free to search me on Patreon (again, it's all open) Basically, Nvidia promoted Omniverse today, which is more or less what I wanted with Elementrus, but localized. I would suggest that network security is integral moving forward. This seems like the first obvious step in the right direction. Currently, Facebook, Google, Amazon and a few others have centralized databases of all your information, but so do hundreds or thousands of other random websites. You don't know who tracks you. We need a solution. A neutral third-party information distributor. Something that operates on cryptographic key exchanges for security, while offering standard applications that can be parsed over the network. The average person doesn't use more than a website, basic word docs and some other things. These UI's; they're mostly static. We've all probably seen a Web IDE or Photoshop-Like on the web. I think we've had this capability for years, but keeping our data is very profitable, who would suggest a thing. Using a block chain would not only provide cryptographic keys on each data transaction (or, limited thus) but also provide a currency based on just interacting with Elementrus. Promising encryption at the OS level, for tasks, yet undefined. I think this could be done, and there's so much work to go into it, I was sort of hoping to have at least someone to offer a wall to bounce off of. I know there's so much to be done, before I could ever hope to offer a publicly viable product, but I want to base a lot of it on Open Source technologies that already exist, some Python 'AI' and tensorflow should also be able to assist in organizing data that arrives at the incorrect time. There's far too much to continue with; I think I've explained a lot of ramble to hopefully help paint a picture. Attached is a smaller version of the web that I made at the beginning of December. Jim.

Hello everyone, This morning I was scrolling through Facebook trying to find something for work and it made me realise just how cluttered Facebook really is! I knew it was cluttered but not this much. Anyway I notice that on my Facebook Newsfeed the majority of the posts I scroll past are articles that have been shared, videos people have reacted too or groups I haven't even liked showing trash. I was wondering whether there is any alternative site which I could go to which is still linked with Facebook but only shows what people have actually posted and not things that people have reacted to or shared? I only want to see friends written statuses, photos and videos of their lives (creepy when I say it like that) and events people have put together. Obviously I know there are other social networks out there which do exactly what I would like but unfortunately they do not have anywhere near the same user base as Facebook. Thanks in advance.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/20177160/new-silence-penalty-coming-to-world-of-warcraft-7-12-2016 Blizzard Entertainment is set to start imposing silence penalties on players deemed to be abusive or spamming. The penalties start at 24 hours of limited social interaction and double with each additional offence. There is no cap on the duration of this social time out. The system is triggered by multiple reports from multiple users and requires an actual person to review the case before any punishments are dealt out. The feature is set to roll out with the pre expansion patch 7.0. As a player that is, or at least was, heavily economy based; I would often hit trade chat with messages looking to buy materials or sell items such as pets. The spam portion has me a bit concerned for people who play similarly as there is no clear definition of spam at the moment. At least the manual review part leaves me feeling a little secure in that the system is not fully automated and likely to be abused.

So GTA V for PC is officially LIVE! Whether you have purchased the game through Rockstar, store bought, or Steam, you copy of GTA V is now active. The only issue is since everyone wants to play this game, the servers are getting hit fairly bad. When you launch the game, don't expect to be in for a fast launch. Hope this port is good and that is was not a waste of money and time. Have fun everyone. Update #1: Something I just found out, check the downloads section as it shows the progress of the un-encryption and allocation for the files. That is what will most probably take the longest unless Rockstar didn't learn from their mistakes when the game first launched on consoles. Update#2 - Provided by @DIV1D3 Just want to say that there might be issues with installation because of Windows usernames, there is a Steam announcement about it. Supposedly characters that aren't in the alphabet (both cases) or numbers will have problems installing. http://steamcommunity.com/games/271590/announcements/detail/190617144670191197 There was just a 100MB update before though, not sure if it fixed it. Update 2.5 For those of you that are effected by the problems mentioned in update 2, if you bought the game on Steam, you may find this useful.

Hi, I have hosting and a domain with nothing on. I want to make a social network a bit like Facebook but for photographers (like my self) with the ability to list their kit and accessories. Not only that but all of the details (exposure etc). I've used BuddyPress and WordPress before and have brief knowledge on HTML but none on php or others. If anybody would be willing to help I'd be extremely thank full! Thanks, Charlie

Hi guys, The youtuber, SideStrafe, made me aware of a social networking site for gamers. Yes, we have too many social networking sites imho, but having one explicitly feature packed for gamers is cool. I like it. Joined it to see if it was something I'd want to be a part of and so far, I think it is. Just wanted to get it out there. Anyone have thoughts on this? Here is the site. Thanks, Vitalius

Facebook's Android app now consumes 50% less data and is 65% smaller to accommodate bandwidth and device limitations in emerging countries. A HUGE WALL OF TEXT INCOMIIIINNNGGG! Facebook has connected more than 1.2 billion users across the globe, and now the social network has shifted its focus to the next 5 billion -- many of whom reside in emerging markets with varying network connections and basic mobile devices. To make its Android application more accessible worldwide, the social network sent a team of engineers to Africa to gauge how the app performed, Facebook engineering manager Alex Sourov wrote in a blog post. "We purchased several different Android handsets to test the latest version of the Facebook app -- and the testing process proved to be difficult," he wrote. "The combination of an intermittent, low-bandwidth network connection and a lack of memory space on the devices resulted in slow load times and constant crashes. We even burned through our monthly data plans in 40 minutes." Over the course of the team's visits, Facebook worked to improve the Android app's performance, data efficiency, networking, and application size. In the end, Facebook was able to reduce start times by more than 50%, data usage by 50%, reports of slow or failed image loads by 90%, and the overall size of its Android app by 65%, the company said. Slow start times on old devices plagued the app's performance, Sourov wrote, particularly on single-core devices. The company also wanted News Feed stories to load quicker for users. Changes it made included deferring feature initializations until after startup and fetching News Feed stories earlier to allow for more time to set up connections and download. Facebook also encountered obstacles in improving data efficiency since data in developing countries is not only expensive but also tedious to purchase, Sourov said. The team's three-step solution included using alternative compression formats for image transmission, loading images at a resolution that devices could handle, and fine tuning the process used to cache and reuse images. "Interacting with photos is an important part of the Facebook experience, but it takes a sizable amount of data to download them," Sourov wrote. "If we could optimize the download size, we could improve data savings and perceived app performance." Facebook said it also invested in improving the efficiency and reliability of its networking stack, since it struggled to perform in regions with intermittent networks. These updates included switching to OkHttp, a networking stack open-sourced by Square, and fine tuning image pre-fetching algorithms. Last, Facebook honed in on the size of its Android app. "The most popular mobile devices in Africa have little disk space available, which is a significant barrier to installing app upgrades," Sourov wrote. "This means that people in developing countries often use older versions of the app that don't have up-to-date features." Facebook used Google Play's ability to upload multiple APKs for different Android OSes and screen resolutions, which helped reduce the size of its Android app, he wrote.
