I had the awesome S20FE until water got inside it. Bullshit water resistance rating. Currently I managed to afford just the new A54. Its ok till it comes to the camera, compared to the S20FE it is shit. I was wondering if it is possible to swap the physical camera from the S20FE to the A54? I expect the biggest issue is going to be with the software.

Hello everyone. I wanted to hear your experiences and opinions on this. Somehow I seem to have really bad experiences with phones with USB-C ports. My first phone with one was a Samsung S9. Port had first signs of breaking after about 2.2years. It started showing the "water in port"-warning and stopped to fastcharge. Another 1-2 months later I was not able to charge it at all. So I bought a Samsung A50. That one had the same issues of not being able to fastcharge after only 8 months, so I bought a Xiaomi Note 9 only 3 days before the A50 was not able to charge anymore and I sent it to a repairshop (sadly they wouldn't repair it under warranty, because it had a 1mm crack at the top of the screen). Now the Xiaomi shows the first signs of not charging all the time (screen lights up every 10 seconds indicating a newly started charging process) after I only bought it in August 2020, so it has about 180 plugin cycles. The port is really wobbly already (4-5° up and down movement). There is no dust in there, since the rubber case has a plug. Somehow I don't know what I do wrong. Since I had such bad experiences with the two Samsungs phones I swore I would eliminate my wrongdoing and only charge the Xiaomi while it lay still on my nightstand, but it still is starting to bother me. All my previouse phone with Mircro USB ports never had such issues, even if I saved them from a fall by pulling at the cable, playing on the phone while it charged, bending the cables etc. The ports held 3-5 years and where thight to plug in the first and last day of using them. Now the new and sooo good USB-C fells like a worn out buthole of a 90 year old grandma. I am really just pissed about it, because I have better things to do than switching between phones because my new 8 month old needs to go into the repairshop again.

Well guys, the title pretty much states it all on this 1, but still, I would love to hear your thoughts/advice/opinions/experiences etc on this. So, like it says above, I have been thinking of using a tablet to replace a smartphone since i've heard that it IS possible. But I am also rather curious/interested to know if there are any cons or caveats to using a tablet as a phone... If anyone is wondering why I had such a rather bizarre or crazy idea with this, it's mainly because I myself am not a particularly big fan of using phones or tablets with smaller or narrower screens; In fact, I tend to prefer screens that are just wider & easier to use. [I'm sure some of you out there might understand my preference on this.] I should also mention that I am well aware that if I WERE to go this route, it would probably be best to aim for a device that supports cellular activity as well as haveing WiFi capability built-in. Anyway, I guess that pretty much sums it up. Do remember of course, that this post here is intended to be a general discussion on this topic. Hoping to here back from you on this since I'm looking for some insight/advice! Like always, if you happen to have any questions for me or just need more details, please be sure to ask & I'll get back with you! Thanks in advance to any helpful people out there!

Summary Best buy was selling Z Fold 3 for $1,400 for several weeks. Now going for $1,000... with activation (not new line just activation). My thoughts Is this an obvious recommendation at this price? Why are they doing this, and why would people still stay away? Sadly I'm starting to outgrow my Redmi note 7 (space wise) so once again I'm turning to LTT forum for some recommendations. I'm mainly looking for a phone under or slightly above $200 that can preform better than my current phone and has a slightly better camera (along with more than 64 gb storage). It would also be nice to find one with 5G but I'm very aware that's unlikely at this price point for now. I've thought about maybe the Redmi note 10 but I'm really on the fence about it so it'd be nice to have some other options with experience behind them.

Summary tl:dw After swapping genuine Samsung parts between 2 Galaxy A51s the fingerprint sensor fails to read and doesn't allow you to enroll new fingerprints while displaying a message about how the sensor 'needs calibration' (there is no way for someone outside of a Samsung service center to calibrate it themselves afaik.) This only started happening after a security patch update (September) meaning it's most likely either a bug or some form of software limitation rather than a hardware incompatibility. After downgrading one of the phones with a replacement screen to an earlier security patch it worked perfectly fine. Quotes My thoughts I think this is ridiculous and really hope this is just a bug and not an intended thing. Samsung has been slowly copying Apple's bad decisions and if this is another one they decided to copy it should be met with backlash. There is absolutely no reason why genuine parts pulled from a phone shouldn't work in a different phone of the same model. Especially something like a display which is probably one of the most common parts to break on a smartphone. This is one of Samsung's more budget A series devices but it's still unknown if this is an intended thing or if it will be a thing on the S series. Hugh Jeffreys says in the comments he ordered some S21s so there will probably be a similar video of him swapping parts between them. Sources https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGLQ9ZRntZo This is my first time posting a news topic so if this is incorrect in some way, sorry.

Hello everyone, I saw MKBHD's review on a sony phone, which was also titled "Why Don't People Buy Sony Smartphones?" I clicked that because I legit didn't know that Sony still made smartphones, and watching the video and reading some comments, I see that many people don't know that they still exist. The phone seems pretty nice, has a freakin 4K display, great camera, all the good flagship stuff. So well I wondered why I have never seen a sony phone reviewed by LTT or a couple of other channels that I follow.. Well let's give sony some free marketing, and bring more ppl's attention to sony smartphones. PS - I am not from Sony XD. I was just surprised that sony phones are still a thing, and they looking kinda good, and it'll give more competition to the phone giants too if it works out, better and cheaper products for all.

I travel alot and my laptop makes my photography gear too heavy to carry for extended periods of time. My shoulders start hurting. I am trying to find a 8 inch tablet with no gps capabilities that can transfer my camera raw files to an external hard drive. A lot of smartphone's usb charging ports only charge the phone and are not capable of transferring files. I am concerned that the small tablets usb port will not function to transfer files from a SD card to a USB hard drive. I am looking for the cheapest solution. WIFI is fine.

So i currently have a samsung a5 2017(its old and slow, but has served me well) and I think I'm due an upgrade. Id rather not switch to iphone Some things that i value more are 1)a good camera (compared to my current phone most cameras nowadays should be fine) 2)i would like it to be reliable and use it for the next couple of years if not half a decade. the processor and gpu don't need to be top of the line since at most I'm gonna play LOL: wild rift and TFT if you have and suggestions or questions feel free to comment them, all help will be appreciated.

I have a Redmi 10x 5g on TracFone through the byop program. It's worked beautifully since I got it except for the fact that for some reason the voicemail litterally won't stay recorded. Like almost every time I have to call to check a message I'm greeted with the setup message and it makes me re-record my greeting and password every time. Normally I'd go to Xiaomi or TracFone about something like this first and then come here but I can't figure out if this is a problem related to the phone or the carrier. If anyone has had this problem and fixed it please let me know, it's annoying as hec.

Received a YouTube ad for the following device: The advertisement mentions that a phone charger can combate planned obsolescence by using AI to not only providing modern fast charging but also improve performance by 3 times. The ad sent me to an actual Russian site in English with the following title in the browser: Заряжай все устройства одновременно и сверхбыстро с 0% до 100% за 15 минут For safety concerns I omitted the URL.

Summary Samsung has filed a HUGE US ITC Patent complaint towards chinese companies that are making Aftermarket OLED screens for smartphones, Like LG and BOE, who coincidentally is making screens for Apple. If they succeed this would stop Apple and any other manufacturer of aftermarket OLED screens from making them at all. This is clearly a warning shot to Apple for getting screens from a new supplier. The main issue Samsung is making that any screen that is made that uses the same pixel layout as their patent is in violation of their patent and therefore the US ITC could make it so that anyone that uses those screens from aftermarket suppliers would be unable to have them imported into the US. Louis Rossmann has made a few videos, and a gofundme was started to help pay for the costs to challenge the complaint but it could cost upwards of $10 million. Quotes My thoughts This is clearly concerning news and can actually be terrible news for those of us that want costs of repairing after warranty smartphones. This is clearly a warning shot to Apple without actually going after Apple who could actually afford challenging the lawsuit. The right to repair industry is worried that if Samsung has their way they would raise prices so high that no one would use it therefore making their claim even more sidious because then they literally have a monopoly on the screen industry all because of pixel patterns. Watch out SIRI, Samsung is to introduce a new voice assistant to its new line up of smart phones nick named "Bixby" , This new implementation of A.I assisted voice control is set to compete against its rival company's rather the digital assistant will debut with the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in late March. Unlike SIRI voice assistance that works on through the home button , Bixby is set to have a small dedicated button for it to be activated just below the volume controls on the side of the phone , The goal of Bixby is to voice-enable every single action in an app that you'd normally do via touch, the general hassle of going through contacts or opening a certain message etc , the general notion of going into homescree, opening applications folder & there might be subfolder within folders that you need to go through to get into the app that you want, all of this will be eased out with a simple voice command using bixby basically making it effortless Bixby designer > Injong Rhee The system in general aims to do a polished version of SIRI in a way , but in a bit more complicated way , Samsung already had a simple voice command system known as S-Voice with limited ability to interact with the user , The new AI assistant is set to talk back & interact flawlessly with the user, Bixby's main progressive feature : Completeness When an application becomes Bixby-enabled, Bixby will be able to support almost every task that the application is capable of performing using the conventional interface (ie. touch commands). Most existing agents currently support only a few selected tasks for an application and therefore confuse users about what works or what doesn’t work by voice command. The completeness property of Bixby will simplify user education on the capability of the agent, making the behaviors of the agent much more predictable Context Awareness When using a Bixby-enabled application, users will be able to call upon Bixby at any time and it will understand the current context and state of the application and will allow users to carry out the current work-in-progress continuously. Bixby will allow users to weave various modes of interactions including touch or voice at any context of the application, whichever they feel is most comfortable and intuitive. Most existing agents completely dictate the interaction modality and, when switching among the modes, may either start the entire task over again, losing all the work in progress, or simply not understand the user’s intention. Cognitive Tolerance When the number of supported voice commands gets larger, most users are cognitively challenged to remember the exact form of the voice commands. Most agents require users to state the exact commands in a set of fixed forms. Bixby will be smart enough to understand commands with incomplete information and execute the commanded task to the best of its knowledge, and then will prompt users to provide more information and take the execution of the task in piecemeal. This makes the interface much more natural and easier to use. This is actually a significant move from the company that is pushing it towards a right direction imo, soon this will be implemented on Samsung future products according to their official blog post, a simple voice command is all you need What do you think ? Hey guys, I really need some help right now. i've been using the iPhone 5 16GB model for about 4 years and it's starting to break down on me. I'm considering a change for my phone, and I need you guys' opinion fast. I'm considering to buy a iPhone 7 128GB model in matte black. Is it worth it? Or can you guys consider any other phone for me? (Around those price points and below).

I want it from somewhere reputable, not from eBay or some sketchy website. Getting the 64gb version

hey guys.. just wanted to know.. most mobile socs today have more than 4 cores. do they have any performance benefit at all?

The apple iOS allows cameras to zoom in when it physically cannot. It zooms in pretty darn well. Iphone zooming generally worked well in past phones I used to own, so i dont think its a new thing. Although, the iPhone 7 does have a 2nd zooming camera at 2x. Why can't my s7 edge do This(zoom like the previous single rear cameras of an iphone)? Are there any apps that allow me to take pictures zoomed in without looking like Minecraft? http://www.tomsguide.com/us/optical-zoom-iphone-7-plus-galaxy-s7-edge,review-3914.html Links explains the 2nd camera of iphone 7 Pictures attached shows that zoom becomes useless after 2x due to so much data being lost. It goes fron 3.9mb to 2.5mb to 1.9mb at 1x, 3ishx, 8x respectively

So.. I've been using the Iphone 5/16Gb for about 4.5 years now and it's starting to breakdown on me. I've been searching for a flagship phone so that I can use it for another 2 years or so. I've found out that the S8 has been revealed and i need to ask you guys something. What smartphone should I get? I need suggestions, i've been thinking to upgrade to the Iphone 7 but the s8 looks pretty good too! And about the camera and UI, which ones are better to use from you guys' perspective? I really need opinions and any other suggestions for other kind of smartphones? tbh, I myself gave never tried the new Android UI. The last galaxy phone i've bought is the Galaxy Young (It's so old) Thanks for reading this and thanks for all of your suggestions!
