I have an LG smart TV (UQ7570PUJ) running Web OS v7.4.0-1903. I decided to turn on the reduced blue light mode by going to settings>all settings>picture>advanced>reduced blue light. It worked, but now I cannot turn it off. Going to that same menu, the option is grayed out as shown in the attachment. Selecting it does nothing. I have tried resetting my picture settings in that same menu with no change. I tried switching picture modes and the reduced blue light mode stays on and I still cannot turn it off. Has anyone seen anything like this? I'm sure I can do a full reset to get it back to normal, but that's annoying and means I can't practically use the reduced blue light mode in the future. TIA

I have a junky smart TV I got for free, Im not really sure what OS its running, I don't think it's Android but it has YouTube and a basic ass web browser. It's a Sharp Aquos. I want to use this TV to view my Tapo camera that I have setup at the door, so that I don't have to open the app every time. Plus, it's helpful for family members in the house , who aren't tech savvy, can still easily see who's at the door without opening it. but the issue as Ive found is that RTSP streams cant be directly views in the browser. I know VLC can play it but I don't think the TV can download applications? Is it possible to repackage the RTSP stream or convert it into a different format such that it can be viewed in-browser or maybe somehow setup a privat-ed stream on YouTube which can then be viewed on the TV? any help is greatly appreciated

The issue I'm facing is large, very annoying cutouts of audio while watching content that is played by my desktop that is hooked to my LG 55" (55UQ8000). The audio cutout last for upwards of 3-5 seconds and occur every 4-5 minutes. My main output is the HDMI cable from my 6700xt AMD GPU in my desktop to my TV, which then has an optical audio cable that goes from the TV to a 7.1 surround sound bar. Thinking that the issue was a substandard HDMI cable, I switched out the one that came with the TV for one that is certified for 8k@60htz (IVANKY brand) and issue still persists. It should be worth noting that nothing played natively on the TV has this same issue (so the netflix app for example). It also does not matter at what refresh rate, video resolution, or if HDR is on/off that I send to the TV from my desktop, the audio issue still occurs when the audio is also sent. However, if I do send video the TV, but use windows to route audio to the 5.1 receiver (via a soundcard in my PC with an optical cable) I use for when I'm only using my desktop, I get no such audio cut outs on that. The issue only stems when I put audio + video to my TV. Currently I have it using 4k@23.976hz with audio. (The low refresh rate is fine for me as I primarily use it from watching anime.) Would an HDMI cable certified for 8k60htz really struggle with the bandwidth this much to play 4k with audio? My main question is, what do I try now to resolve the issue? Should I swap out the HDMI cable again? The optical cable from the TV to the soundbar? Or is this a case of the LG tv's processor simply not being able to handle audio + video from an external source? Maybe some kind of AMD/Windows/LG setting that can correct this? Thanks to any who answer.

It is an lg 55UB820V. The TV is around 6 years old and it has started getting slowly a couple of months ago. It struggles with switching channels (didn’t happen before) and often crashes and switches off or freezes if you change too many at once. Any way to fix it? And what parts should be replaced? Thanks!

Triple monitor black screen issues caused by smart TV
MayonakaKuro posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I have a triple monitor setup including: BenQ BL3200 - display port (main display) Acer SB220Q - display port to HDMI cable Sony X900 55" smart TV - HDMI 2.1 The main issue I have is unless the Sony TV is kept turned on, the two other monitors will black screen. If I completely disconnect the smart TV, both monitors work perfectly. I recently upgraded to a RTX3080 from a GTX1080 and that's when the issue started. Win10 Pro i7-7700K Maximins Hero IX G-Skill 32GB DDR3000 RTX3080 Corsair 850W All drivers up to date. -
android tv Is there anyway NOT to connect in android tv
DC.MONZ posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Its a bothersome to accidentally connect in android tv, and I don't own the tv so I can't use the google home app, because someone will try to connect. Is there anyway to completely disconnect and not able to see the icon screen cast or some sort, in my phone. I have already fixed it in my laptop but the way that I did cannot be applied in my phone so please help me. -
Hello, I need a budget, non-rechargeable, preferably ergonomic mouse for office work and one with broad compatibility so I can connect it to tablet and/or smart TV and easily move between devices or take it on the go somewhere. Does mouse with radio frequency 2.5GHz and mouse with Bluetooth connection make difference for above purposes besides needing USB port for RF mouse and not needing for Bluetooth mouse? Any "palm-grip" mouse you can recommend from known brand and a mouse from least known brand? Doesn't have to be "palm grip" because "finger-grip" is good too. I even thought about buying from chinese website but their longevity sucks. Thanks

In an Ars Technica article, there is some information on Wikileaks releasing over 8000 CIA documents concerning various tools that they are using to access computer networks and targets in Latin America, Europe and the US. According to the article: There is also mention of an MI5 project called 'Weeping Angel' where they were able to turn a Samsung Smart TV into a listening device... https://arstechnica.com/security/2017/03/wikileaks-publishes-what-it-says-is-trove-of-cia-hacking-tools/ I typically try not to be too paranoid cause I'm fairly sure there is not much information that I have of interest to the government, but this is fairly creepy... Hopefully there are some new security patches that companies can put out there that fill in some of these holes now...

An attempt to sort through the piles of ludicrously priced 4K HDR TVs for PS4 Pro as well as a future PC build. I have made a few selections but seek for a more experienced advice. This is my very first post (or any sort of activity whatsoever) on these forums. Please try to help me out. However, the list I have made is as follows:JVC DM65USRToshiba 65L9300USceptre U658CV-UMCAll seem to have a very low response time quite suitable for gaming and all are 65 Inches diagonally. However seeing as one of the selling points of the PS4 Pro is HDR10 High Dynamic Range imaging (Which seems to be more than a marketing gimmick with very impressive results in real time) and the JVC and Toshiba models mentioned above were released an year before (2014) HDR10 was announced (2015), I would like to know whether any of these supports HDR, because other than that these seem to be quite impressive. In case you have your own recommendations on a Smart Television model which is 4K, HDR supported, a big enough upgrade from my family's current 40 Inch (ish, a bit more) Full HD set from Samsung which is also Extremely satisfying, please feel free to tell me.Thank you in advance for any support. I would like to apologize if there's a problem with my thread (again, I'm new here). Please let me know, if so.

1. Budget & Location up to 1000 € Germany 2. Aim I want to have IP TV, Youtube, controlling smart home sutff via browser and play browser games on 2 TVs at my home and they should be able to watch their channel of choice (so i can't simply hook a steam link to one pc and stream vlc via it). 3. Monitors max.2 at a time @ 720p - 1080p 4. Peripherals Already have keyboards and mouses (loads of monitors, i5 4670k laying around, Gole 1, old laptops, loads of hdds, a steam link, raspberry pis) 5. Why are you upgrading? - Hello, this is my first post here and I hope that i finally found the right place to ask. The aim of this project is as described above and I'm looking to realize this on my amateur level. I have tried setting up the raspberry pis as something like a smart tv but i figured out that they are too slow for 1080p IPTV via VLC, so this option wonn't work. So linustechtips community how would you realize this project? I'm thankful for every answer! Ideas: 1. 2 thin clients 2. 2 Raspberry pis as thin clients? 3. 1 PC, 2 VMs,2 Steam Link? 4. 2 thin clients like a zbox/intel nuc/Compute stick and 1 server using unraid and 2 windows 10/linux mint virtual machines?

Maybe it will make a resurgence when the tech is better, like VR.

God I hate this TV.... Samsung UN32EH5300. A few days ago it just stopped connecting to my router. It's been fine for about three years until now. Router is dual band Netgear. I had it connected to the 5GHz band. All phones and tablets are on 2.4 band. For a while, it wouldn't even show that the preferred network existed. But I did a factory reset and it finally saw it again. But still wouldn't connect. Tried the 2.4 band and it connected with absolutely no problem. I have no idea what the hell is going on but I can barely see straight because I've been trying to figure this out for days and I just keep getting more and more pissed.

Source: Ars Technica So this means TVs shipped in the few years will probably have the same exploit mitigating features (e.g. ASLR, sandboxing, NX bit, application firewalls, etc) as your computer. I just hope the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony and other TV manufacturers will make updates non obtrusive. Can you imagine how annoying would it be if you're having GoT or HTGAWM marathon and all of a sudden there's a pop up that says "Your TV will restart in 10 minutes to install updates". This is why I never used the Smart TV features of my Sony TV, I use my Chromecast to watch Netflix, YouTube, and even play my Spotify playlists. I just hope that it won't come to a day that TVs will come with anti-virus preinstalled that will always remind you to renew your subscription. Although if hacking a TV is that easy especially with digital broadcasts, I wonder this will force cable subscribers (myself included) to cut the cord and use over the air broadcasted channels. If IoT devices will be the next big thing for hackers, can you imagine the pranks they'll do. Imagine Luke is doing a medium rare ribeye steak with his Joule sous vide by Chefsteps and someone remotely hacked the device and set it to cook overdone. I guess it's an eternal chase between blackhat and whitehat hackers. To all computer science majors, this might be a good thesis/dissertation topic.

Hey everyone! Yesterday I got a new Samsung UE40KU6070 smart TV. The TV is connected to the wifi and via samsung smart view I can stream videos, fotos and music to it. But what I would really want to do is some sort of wireless screen mirroring from my PC. I have searched a lot, but I couldn't find a solution that doesn't include buying something like a chromecast or a fire tv stick... Why do I want this? Well the TV is right in front of my bed, so it would be nice to be able to play simple games (where latency doesn't really matter) like civ5 from there. I am sure there must be someway to do this since you can already stream content directly over wifi! Another issue I have is that I would like to connect some wireless headphones so I don't bother my brother next room. Well guess what? The TV doesn't have a headphone Jack! I mean seriously Samsung? Who do you think you are? Apple?! But wait, the iPhone7 has Bluetooth, so this probably has bluetooth as well right? NOPE! So I am really not sure how I would connect wireless headphones to this thing. Here is a list of connectors the TV has. (I have already tried usb headphones, they did not work) Does anyone know if there is some sort of opticial audio to bluetooth adapter? Or maybe HDMI to bluetooth? I hope someone can help me -Hidri

Good evening, everyone! I'll be buying a 43" 4K SmartTV within the next week and as such, I've been doing some research to make sure I get the best product within my budget, which is 500€ ($596). From all the televisions available to me, the two that stood out the most were the Philips 43PUS6162 and the LG 43UJ630V. Here's the reasons why: - Both are 4K, obviously - Both carry HDR technology - Both carry IPS displays - Both bring 3x HDMI/2x USB slots - Both run at 60Hz Now the reasons why I'm indecisive are: - While both carry HDR, LG's the standard HDR10 whereas Philips' is HDR10+. I did some research on both and it appeared to me that HDR10+ is the better one as it was created to rival Dolby Vision. I would however appreciate some input on this so I can know for sure what this technology consists of and if it is worth it. - The LG includes 4K Upscaling, whereas the Philips does not. However, as mentioned above, Philips brings HDR10+ and LG brings HDR10. Is it a worthy tradeoff? Is it a noticeable and good-looking difference? I tried watching some YouTube videos showing it off but it's not very perceptible. - According to my research, the Philips audio system supports Clear Sound, whereas the LG supports Ultra Surround. Is there much of a difference? Is it noticeable? - While being a minor thing, the Philips seems to support a wide variety of image formats, including PNG and GIF, where as the LG only supports JPEG, MPO and JPS. Does this mean there is no way whatsoever to open, say, PNG files on the LG? Can it become annoying in some situations? - Finally, the operative system. The Philips seems to be running AndroidTV, the LG runs WebOS 3.5. I did some research on both and realized AndroidTV is alot more future proof and focuses a bit more on gaming and a few other interesting apps by giving you access to Google Play. The fact that you can also connect your Smartphone to the TV to stream videos and music from, is also a pretty appealing idea. It seems to have a collection of 4K movies ready to watch too. The only downside is that the interface covers the whole screen, hiding whatever is playing on TV at that moment, which isn't the biggest deal to me. The WebOS 3.5 seems to have a very user-friendly and fast interface that doesn't cover the whole screen and thus not hiding the content. It appeared to have some games too but I got the impression it doesn't focus on that side as much as AndroidTV. It also seems to have a nice collection of 4K movies ready to watch and some interesting settings. However, it felt like it didn't include some of the interesting features AndroidTV offers. This is one of the websites I used to compare the two: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/1cb31d827 Here are a few more details about the two TVs (included in the link above) With that said, at the moment, I'm more inclined towards getting the Philips TV but I still want to make sure I'm well informed before proceeding with the purchase. The price of both TVs isn't a hindrance seeing as they're just 10€ apart, making the aforementioned points my only concern. Thank you for your time!

Hey guys, I'm going to upgrade my family's living room setup. Right now they have a rather old TV (1080p) that works just fine and a bunch of peripherals: a dvd-player, a sat-receiver, a fairly old cd-player, and an audio amplifier. Since they discovered streaming via amazon prime, they're interested in bringing it to the TV in the living room as well. While I could just tell them to get a fireTV stick or chromecast or something the like, I would rather like to seize the opportunity to update the whole setup since most of the peripherals are completely outdated (some older than 10 years). I have basically come up with three options: 1. Replace everything by a smart TV - high cost - less privacy due to data hungry smart tv - most likely no cd/dvd option (or can you attack an external dvd drive to a smart TV) - proprietary Hardware and software, not customizeble + one device -> very simple setup + very easy to use + SAT TV + better viewing experience (though my parents don't care much about image quality and all that) 2. Keep the TV and replace the peripherals by a Set top box - no cd/dvd option - proprietary Hardware (and maybe software), not customizeable - TV only via Internet livestream, no SAT TV + cheapest option by far + simple setup + very easy to use 3. Keep the TV and replace the peripherals by HTPC running windows - higher cost than option 2, dependig on configuration - not as easy to use as 1 + 2 (maybe someone has an idea of how to properly control a htpc without having a wireless keyboard and mouse on the table? ) - less stable (due to windows os compared to proprietary solutions above) + highly customizeable + future upgradeability + very versatile + CD/DVD support + SAT-TV via expansion card + I get to build another PC For all three options I will most likely keep the old audio solution and maybe replace it later with a sound bar or something the like. My problem is that on the one hand I want a versatile and futureproof solution and on the other and it has to be reliable, easy to use for my parents and should not require me to do a lot of "maintenance". I don't mind spending some time setting it up, but once that's done I'd like it to be easy to operate for my parents so I don't have to look after it much. I have no experience in home theater stuff, so I am looking forward to your thoughts and ideas, so I can figure out what would be the best option. Thank you! xilef

couple of days ago I bought a UHD HDR TV, the LG UH603V the only issue I have with it is the retarded and crammed remote control (the one that shipped with the TV) - it's a fucking nightmare to access and use the app features of the TV, it's OK if you only use the basic TV functions went on Google's PlayStore and tried a couple of LG remote apps the only one that actually saw the TV and connected to it was LG webOS Magic Remote by LG Electronics RUSSIA R&D Lab - the problem is that I can only make it to mute the sound everything else doesn't do anything if anyone else had a similar issue to mine and found a good app, please share

I just got a Visio smart tv for my gaming setup, and I just plugged in red and white analogue audio cables into the back of it, which is connected to my stereo system. But when I do this, the tv still outputs through the speakers of the tv, in addition to the stereo. Only problem is, adjusting the volume with the remote only seems to change the speakers of the tv itself, this wasn't an issue on my previous monitor, because I used an analogue to 3.5mm jack and put it into the headphone jack of my tv, and it worked just fine. Any way around this? As far as I am aware, this new tv has no headphone jack.
