I built this pc about 2 months ago: ASUS Prime B760-PLUS D4 motherboard. Intel I5 13400 cpu. Corsair, Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB), DDR4 ram. Palit, Geforce RTX 4060 8gb vram gpu. Seagate Ironwolf 4tb hdd, ST4000VN006-3CW104. Kingston nvm 1tb ssd, SNV2S1000G. ASUS Tuf Gaming 750W 80+ gold powersupply. Windows 11 Home, installed on the Ironwolf hdd. For 2 months I've had a rare and very weird "stuttering" of some kind. It has happened only 4 times, so I don't know if it's worth trying to solve it anymore and just accept it.... It's hard to describe. Imagine that suddenly everything seem to render at like 2 fps, except your mouse pointer. Your mouse pointer moves normally but everything else is sluggish, every animation of any window you open up is sluggish stuttering, every mouse click takes several seconds to react to. Only the mouse movement works normal. A reboot makes the problem go away until next time, which can be several days. When it happens I see nothing special in the task manager. The cpu usage is normal idle, so is the gpu usage. The temperatures are fine. Open Hardware monitor shows cpu temp below 40 when idle and about 55 when gaming. Gpu about 35 at idle and just over 60 when gaming. I checked the event viewer but nothing stands out as beeing suspicious now. I did have some few WHEA 17 warnings on a PCI Express root port long time ago, but they never came back after bios update. I do not use "sleep mode" on Windows, every boot up is a fresh one. Takes longer to boot of course but something I can live with. I tested with LatencyMon app during the stuttering but nothing stands out there, it reported that everything was fine (atleast what I can make out of it). So what have I tried already: Drivers are up to date. Nothing suspicious is shown in the device manager. Tried to disable some sound devices that were not beeing used. (Like Nvidia's HD and RealTek digital output) Updated Bios to latest 1402 version. Checked for Firmware update for the ssd using Kingston ssd manager, got latest already. Checked ram for any errors, found none. Disabled XMP, ram is running slower now. Disabled PCI-Express native power management and aspm settings in Bios (read that workaround for some Asus motherboard.) The problem reappeared anyway so turned them on again. Tried both Balanced and High performance power scheme (edited some settings like never turn off harddrives and disable power save pci link for balanced scheme). Nvidia control panel, changed to prefer maximum performance power setting, problem happened again anyway so changed to normal. Turned off cpu core parking, using ParkControl app. Did a sfc /scannow, no files were corrupt. CrystalDiskInfo reports no problems for the hdd and the ssd. The System Interrupt process is steady 0% to 0,1%, even when the problem occurs. Tried with a disabled TPM, the problem happened once again anyway so I switched it back on.

Hi there so recently my pc has been kind of sluggish lately and it’s taking AGES to load. Today it’s been doing this and it’s been driving me mental and I don’t know what to do. Once it does load it gets me to the main home screen and my taskbar will be invisible for ages till it finally loads. Then it takes a long time loading up programs such as just documents to things like discord. Once I got a notification saying click to repair drives but I’ve not gotten it again since loading it up a few more times. What should I do and what is the problem? Thank you everyone who can help!

Every time I try and post an emoji, literally my entire internet connection grinds to a halt. It pretty much doesn't matter what website it is, but its mainly Linus and YouTube doing it. What gives here? Does this happen to anyone else? Does this have to do with flash? HTML? Is something out of date? Its not a big problem of course, I'm just curious. Maybe I can prevent bigger issues from occurring down the road.

Unsure what subforum this belongs in as it might be Windows/desktop-related or it could be the apps themselves. I am not sure if these two issues are related, but they seem similiar to me and appeared roughly around the same time period (2-3 months back maybe). 1) I frequently upload and view gameplay clips in discord, both from myself and friends which makes me think it's unrelated to file type or some obscure rendering setting. Recently when I play these files in discord it begins to stutter and play sluggish after a few seconds. Never had any issues playing videos before but now it happens for pretty much every videofile. I was thinking maybe hardware acceleration had been turned off but it is still on, and that's how far my troubleshooting skills reach on this topic. Edit: After further testing I believe this only happens when viewed in fullscreen mode, which I always do as it is otherwise too small. This made me think maybe Nvidia Shadowplay was playing pranks, but turning that overlay off made no difference. Edit2: I've also noticed now that it only seem to happen on my side monitor. I have a Acer 32" Predator Z321QU for primary monitor and an older Acer XF240H 24" on the side. When I look at video files in fullscreen (otherwise they are too small to see) this happens on the side screen where I keep my Discord, but it doesn't seem to happen if I drag Discord onto my primary monitor and do the same thing there... I am completely clueless as to how that can be the case. 2) I use the default Windows email app for my two hotmail email accounts. Last few months this app has become really slow. Instead of the previously smooth experience I was used to it now takes 2-3 seconds after I click on an email for it to actually load, and the same "buffering" happens when browsing between inbox/archive/bin folders aswell. Similiar to the Discord issue it feels like the program isn't using my computers resources the way it used to. I do believe I also have a slightly longer boot time, but not to the point of that being a problem and my computer feels healthy otherwise. Any ideas? Chrome has been feeling extremely slow the last couple months (been using it for years) I have an i7 7700k and 16gb of ram so I really don't think it's hardware. Chrome use to be relatively fast, but now it takes a second or two to open a new tab and search something in. Same with youtube, I open a youtube video and try to pause it. Nothing happens for 2 seconds, and then it registers my actions. Could it be buildup of all my bookmarks, cookies etc ?

Hey guys! I truly hope this is the correct section to post in, but anyway I wanted to share my experience and maybe solve someone else's problems too. TL;DR : Overclocking solved the issues My issues were that the OS (win 10) felt sluggish, not responsive. When I started a program it took a while to open it, but most of all there was lag in registering clicks and keystrokes, not too much, but enough to tilt me. And yes, I do have an ssd, 2 in fact: a Crucial 240GB (the first I bought when I built the PC) where I storethe os and few other programs and a 1TB m.2 ssd for the bulk of my games and projects. Moreover the problems started about a year ago (I feel like it's windows security updates for spectre/meltdown etc. that slow things down, let me know if that is possible). I tried a fresh install 6 months ago, but it was useless. Despite having a 6600k I used to keep it with stock clock speeds, because it didn't provide a justifiable difference in performance compared to consuming around 60% more power from the wall (50 watts non-overclocked, 80 watts with overclock). Then a couple days ago I connected the dots and thought: "if the performance issues are CPU bound, I can overclock it!" I loaded the overclocking profile I saved when I first built the pc and puff, no more problems. Now when I click on a cell in excell it doesn't take half a second to select it, when I change the fonts in word I can see them without delay, when I rotate objects in fusion 360 it doesn't lag behind the cursor, when I open or close a folder it doesn't wait for my patience to run out. I found happiness again XDXDXD Although I fixed the problem for now I'm not sure if it was the correct approach or if it will be long lasting. Let me know what you think and if I helped anybody else

Monitor problem after reinstalling Win 10. Have to disconnect and then connect the HDMI cable again to the Samsung 4k TV after every upstart. Or both the displays are sluggish… takes about 10 sec before the result of a mouse-click is visible or until the active windows is resized. Changing the resolution to "whatever" and then back to native again also fixes the problem. No change in hardware or software (apart from reinstalling everything). Tried the 4 latest NVIDIA drivers and replaced the cable. One 4k TV, one HD monitor. 4770k/Titan.

Hi, my computer is sluggish, it happens randomly and I can't see any huge load on my system. A game, for example, can load extremely slowly with only 20% CPU usage, with memory usage around 6GB of the 8GB available. I have good internet speeds, both downloading and uploading. It's not a server issue it's me. When doing benchmarks (Unigine Heaven benchmark 4.0 on extreme settings. See pic for stats) Yet when writing this I notice a delay from me pressing down a key and me seeing it. I don't really know anything about how pc works, but my guess is; Specs: -Operating system windows 64-bit -Motherboard ASUS Z97-PRO GAMER + Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3 1600MHz -Processor Intel Core i7-4770S - 8 trådar / 3,1GHz (3,9GHz Turbo) / 8MB / Socket 1150 (Boxed) (65w) -Graphics card ASUS GeForce GTX 960 STRIX 2GB DirectCU II OC (STRIX-GTX960-DC2OC-2GD5) -RAM memory Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3 PC-12800 1600MHz CL9 (BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU) (2x4GB) -Hard Drive WD Intern Hårddisk Green 3TB (IntelliPower / 64MB Cache / WD30EZRX) -Power Supply Corsair PowerSupply (PSU) CX750 750W 80 PLUS Bronze -Main Monitor Samsung LS27D390HS/EN 27" / 5ms / HDMI / PLS -Internet speeds Down: 95.802 Mbit/s Up: 70.6041 Mbit/s Thanks in advance!

No matter what I do it's slow and sluggish, games barely work anymore (Lost about 25fps on average) harman audio is still installed but barely works anymore, the built-in speakers used to sound really nice with some good bass (for the size)now they sound really thin like you'd expect laptop speakers to sound lol. It's also set to Rgb limited so picture is really washed out (i noticed this immediately) but there is no option whatsoever to set it to rgb full, because obviously the screen is fixed and not supposed to run at rgb "limited". In short nothing on this laptop works as it should anymore after this WINDOWS 10 update and I have no idea how to fix it, in my experience a reinstall might fix it but it's very tedious and difficult to find all the necessary drivers since windows most definitely does *not find them*. Unfortunately I don't have a backup either (my fault but it is what it is) So any ideas how to get back to 1809/03 or is a reinstall really the only option? PS: I can't revert the update as it's been several months, and I just kinda gave up using this laptop, but I want to fix it now

Hello girls and boys, I might be suffering from a first world problem, really... My Windows 10 PC (4690k, 16GB DDR3-1600, GTX 970, Samsung Evo 840 256 GB, WD Green 3TB secondary drive) feels sluggish when compared to a more modern (6th gen) midrange Intel rig. I started noticing it while installing a basic Win10 computer at a customer's place. It was a no bells and whistles standard PC with a Samsung 860 Pro, 8GB of DDR4 and an i5-6400). Windows boots up sooo much more quickly (I know, it's a fresh install, but still) and everything from launching applications to loading websites feels ages faster... My SSD is far from full (atm around 50 GB in use, 180GB free) and I dont really use any tools that are supposed to 'make your PC faster!'... Only thing I do regularly is use Windows disk cleaning utility, use common sense on software to install and keep automatic startup as lean as possible (Steam, Dropbox, ClassicShell and Windows Defender Notification are enabled, everything else disabled). My internet connection (wired) is also far from slow (80/15 MBit/s). Drivers are up to date so far, no old software on the system. Also I turned off most if not all of the Windows telemetry BS as well as indexing on the SSD. Trim is active. As you can see I think I did my part. Do you guys have any ideas? I (atm) don't want to do a system reset but I might re-install Windows 10 during the cold winter hours with nothing else to do It's far from unusable or anything but you know, when you spend a lot of money on a fairly balanced rig you don't want it to be outperformed by a midrange banger at a doctor's office... Thanks for your input and if we don't see each other in the mean time: merry christmas! Cheers, Mike

Hi fellow LTTers! On Christmas 2012, my father bought me a prebuilt Medion Akoya desktop PC (precise model: MEDION AKOYA P5394D MD8451, here it is on a French retailer website). Here are the specs: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-3450 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor Storage: Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB 3.5" 5900RPM Internal Hard Drive ($99.95 @ Amazon) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (OEM) (64-bit) ($94.77 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Medion H61H2-LM3 (Purchased) RAM: Hynix DDR3-1600 6GB (4GB + 2GB) (Purchased) GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 660 1.5GB (OEM/Reference) (Purchased) Case: A sh*tty LED-infested case (Purchased) PSU: No-name 450W PSU (Purchased) Other: CD/DVD reader/writer (Purchased) Total: $194.72 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-04-12 06:16 EDT-0400 The thing is that since two days my computer suddenly became reaaaally slow. Using Ctrl+Shift+Esc, Task Manager took 200 seconds to load and VLC plays videos after 3 minutes. I had to wait a full minute staring at a black screen when I launched CS:GO (it even crashed later during the game). I also had some UAC prompts simply timing out without me being able to see them. Once loaded, the programs are smoothly running, so I guess they are queued but the computer "forgets" to launch them in time. I don't really understand how is it possible for a computer to instantly become slow. My hypothesis is that either the HDD or the PSU is faulty: however, I have no spare parts at home and I'm a little low on cash. What can I do to turn it back in its glorious days' state?

Hi guys, A while ago, i found out that my HP ProBook 455 G1 was kinda sluggish and acting weird after being in sleep. Yesterday, i had another problem, which i solved by looking in the log in Windows, and then i saw this: (See attached picture) It means something like: The systems firmware has changed the processors MTTR's (memory type range registers) in a transition to/from sleep mode. This can result in reduced performance when you proceed from sleep mode. Do you think this has something to do with my problem? If you need more details, just ask! Thank you! (Sorry for bad English)

I have a Samsung 840 evo 1TB and I have noticed as of late it seems sluggish. Stuff like opening the file explorer and launching some applications is just not as quick feeling. I have had the drive since Christmas last year and it has about 3.4TB written according to the Magician software. The AS SSD bench marks seem good but I am not really sure. So I was wondering if these speeds are normal and if anyone has any suggestions on fixing the sluggish feel.

I've had this problem for a while where Windows 7 will lag/slowdown when moving windows(firefox, steam, skype) back and forth. This also happens with the snap animations I have verified that this only happens when I use 2 monitors, because if I deactivate the second monitor everything is smooth. Specs: i5 4670k Geforce GTX 680, driver version 340.52 12GB RAM 750W power supply Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit If you need the specific models I will look it up. Thank you in advance.
