Hello! I’ve recently experienced and realized that my pc is not as smooth and not as fast as my friends pc’s.. When I upgraded from 60 to 165hz I noticed the difference immediately but I also noticed that my screen and gameplay wasn’t as smooth and didn’t have the same “flow” that my friends had.. I have a 1660 6gb, ryzen 5 5600x, 16gb ram 2133mhz.. I changed gpu with my friend who has an 2060 8gb to see if there would be any difference.. we didn’t notice a difference on his setup..he had a smooth experience on the windows desktop and while gaming but back on my pc with the upgraded gpu it was still the same experience as before but with more fps in game.. I always thought that it was my screen that gave me a un-smooth experience while gaming and browsing the web.. I than tried to figure out if there could be something that I could change in my pc but I don’t know what! I thought that I have upgraded everything that I could upgrade until recently.. I realized that I have 2 components that are around 8 years old.. my 650w gold power supply and my ssd with 120gb that runs windows.. I have a m.2 with 500gb that I installed for games but now am starting to wonder if I would get a better experience if I installed windows on my m.2 or upgrading my power supply… Simply asking if someone here maybe has any idea of what could be the reason for why am not having the same smooth experience as my friends and videos am seeing on YouTube ://

Budget (including currency): £285.01 Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Premier Pro, After Effects, Blender, Minecraft, Counter Strike, Total War: Empire, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, WWII Online Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have an Acer Aspire XC-895, which is good, however, I want the ability to upgrade it in the future, but the PSU, motherboard, and case don't fit into any form factors and have weird mounting systems, so what I decided to do is salvage all the parts I can (CPU, CPU cooler, HHD, RAM) and putting them into an old, mini tower case with a new Asus Prime B560M-A motherboard, Western Digital 500gb m.2, Cooler Master MWE 450 Bronze-V2, and additional Crucial RAM CT8G4DFS824A 8GB DDR4 2400 MHz RAM for dual channel memory. The new specifications compared to the old are in the image below. This will be my first time building, or tinkering with a PC that isn't already broken, so I would like some advice on either saving money, or improving, as well as equipment needed for the upgrade and the software side of things, as I have no idea how I'll do that aside from watching YouTube and hoping for the best. This upgrade will cost £220.18 Thank you for any help you can give.

Specifications: CPU - AMD FX 4100 ,3600 ghz Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2TP, AM3+ SOCKET,(second hand) RAM - GSkill 4 gb ddr3 1600 mhz and HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1866MHz System - Windows 8.1 64-bit OS, x-64 based processor Hard Drive - WD Green 1 TB (WDC WD 10EARX-00N0YB0 1000.2 GB) GPU - Geforce GTX 960 PSU - Seasonic 600 Watts, 80+ Bronze In Short :- My PC RARELY runs normally without any slow (after so many times of rebooting) In Detail :- When I brought the motherboard second hand (this is my 3rd motherboard) initially it ran fine. But after few days I thought to keep the PC under sleep or not shut down after playing Witcher 3. Then power cut occured after that moment when I booted the PC *BOOM* it's so slow all of a sudden I have never seen something like this before! even the keyboard caps lock light is lit after 7-8 seconds of pressing the caps lock button (same with mouse or any other thing). Mostly the slowing down starts after in windows loading screen the loading cursor rotates 5-6 times. PFA for video. Now whenever it runs after like 100s of times of rebooting it (expecting it would come up with the log in screen i.e run normally without slow), sometimes it would run normally (5% of the times of rebooting) then I am always afraid of not shutting it down or keep it under sleep mode, cause once it's under sleep or shut down then it will slow again!! so I play all games and enjoy as much cause I know it's gonna get slowed down again (after a shutdown or auto sleep etc). This slowing down is going on since nearly one year. I have done nothing about it I didn't call any local experts because it runs normally 5% of the time. During slow boot, I could barely reach log-in the screen. I have tried so many methods to troubleshoot like sfc scannow , dsim etc and few messing with the settings like device manager, control power power options etc, I have also contacted the microsoft support the person told me it could be a harddrive problem. None of them worked. I am only lucky if the PC runs normally all of a sudden after trying to reboot it for 30-40 times i.e once in 30-40 reboots rest of the reboot goes like all slow just in the attached video. Any solutions? Please help me. SlowPC_20210517_153343069.mp4

To make this quick, Zoom launcher basically makes my pc feel very very slow. Not only that but when I exit a game to check on something by pressing the window key, my desktop feels very slow. Now I mean feel because the performance should still feel the same, it's just that things feel like slo mo. For example, moving a Brave window looks really choppy, youtube videos are choppy, loading screens look choppy, everything looks choppy. Any help?

(TLDR at the end) Hi, First of all, I have a EVGA gtx 1060gb SC edition, a Ryzen 5 1600 and 16gb of 2666mhz RAM (2x8). I've had this setup for 3 years now, and I've never tried to OC before today. I wanted to see what all this "overclocking" fuss was all about so I did several tests using Assassin's creed Odyssey as a benchmark. - Firstly, I attempted to get my RAM up to 2666mhz (was 2133mhz) using XMP profiles in the BIOS. Result : 10 to 20 fps drop in AC Odyssey. - So i set my RAM back to default, and then tried to boost my 3.2ghz CPU up to 3.6ghz (game boost mode for the R5 1600). Result : absolutely no changes whatsoever. - I then launched EVGA Precision X tool and activated the "K boost" mode to pump up my GPU from 1607mhz to about 1980mhz. Result : 5 fps more in AC Odyssey, gpu temperature went up to 72 degrees. So while having my CPU and GPU both on "boost' modes, i fired up World of Warships and had a whopping 25 fps average instead of the usual 60+ fps. After turning off both K boost (GPU) and game boost (CPU), I restarted my pc and went back to play some World of Warships and, surprise surprise, my fps is still extremely low at around 20 to 27 fps. I tried other games, like on Battlefield 1, and it was the same issue. I usually have more than 60 fps and now i'm between 25 to 45 fps max. I tried going on twitch to watch a crowded livestream and everything was laggy, the video and the chat. My mouse and keyboard imputs had a slight delay and everything seemed to go very slowly. I reinstalled my gpu drivers, deleted EVGA Precison X tool and restarted the pc again, but nothing works. Does anyone here know a trick or 2 to solve this problem ? Many thanks in advance. TLDR : i tried doing some OC, did'nt make much a difference, but when i set everything back to default I now have a very slow pc and severe fps drops in all games. help

Tried posting this on the reddit TechSupport but a bot automatically took it down and a mod later answered with "old hardware and software go cope somewhere else, byebye xoxo" Also tried on PCMR, also got removed but with no explanation this time. So I came here with the hope of finally being heard. Some months ago I acquired a Compaq desktop pc for dirt cheap due to it having issues, I had the idea to have it as somewhat of a light/retro gaming machine and maybe throw in something like a GT710/30, to natively run some old OS's and games, it came with some version of Windows XP. First issue was it wouldn't turn on, replaced the CMOS battery and it started working again, then when booting it took as much as an hour to get to the desktop. Took almost just as much time booting from a usb to a linux distro (after ram change it works perfectly with anything linux related). It just was a defective ram stick (DDR2 1.8V), and a few days ago I got to buy a few sticks to upgrade my mother's pc which has similar specs and got two extra sticks for this project. Now is where the issue comes, at first I tried installing some distros, I already knew the MoBo mounted gpu is barely compatible with anything modern since my mother pc has the same, so I tried the ones I already knew to be working with it, no issues there, but then I tried to install Windows Vista, since I have both keys for home prem and basic, and was welcomed by an extremely slow loading speed, about 20 minutes to get to the "select language" page, tried both 64 and 32 bit images, tried Windows 7 64 and 32 bit images, Windows XP SP2/3, even Windows 10 64 and 32 bits images, tried multiple usb ports, tried disconnecting everything, even the the motherboard from the case, even disconnected the PS/2 keyboard, same result. Searching through some forums I got a few answers about the bios where having "Floppy A" as enabled could make the pc run at floppy disk speed and some stuff about AMD K8 energy management, but none of those worked. Already checked the SATA cables, tested the HDD on another pc with almost identical hardware, and even tried a different HDD on this machine, the issue only seems to be happening to this machine. Also tried installing Windows vista on the other machine, got it done in about 30 minutes total, got the HDD to the troubled machine and it spent about as much time just in the loading bar screen. I already ran out of ideas so that's why I came here to ask. This are the specs of the troubled computer: Motherboard MCP61PM-HM Rev 1.0b (Bios Rev 5.25) AMD Athlon X2 4050e Dual-Core @ 2111MHz 2 sticks of DDR2 2GB 1.8V PC2-5300 ram Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE SATA WesternDigital 160Gb WD1600AAJS SATA Lightscribe DVD-R Noganet 550W PSU Specs of the properly working machine Motherboard Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2 AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Dual-Core @ 2400MHz 2 sticks of DDR2 2GB 1.8V PC2-5300 ram Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE SATA Samsung 250Gb HD251HJ SATA LG DVD-R Biswal 400W PSU Thanks in advance for anyone checking!

Hi! I recently upgraded my PC from a GTX 1060 to a RTX 3060 in order to get better FPS. Before switching cards I made a factory reset to wipe my files from the computer(storage was so full that it had an effect on performance). I redownloaded the newest versions of all drivers and slightly overclocked the processor to squeeze some more performance out of it. The issue is that the PC now is slower than what it was before. It stutters more and gives less FPS. I tried switching back to my old GPU to see if it was because of the new GPU being incompatible with my motherboard, but it is still slower than it was before the reset. I have tried most helpguides that I could find but nothing really helped. I would be very appreciative to any and all help with making my PC run as smooth as it used to. Recently I have been noticing that there is something off about my system. Things such as much lower performance in gaming than I would expect and general tasks in windows taking far too long to respond. For example I opened the file browser yesterday and actually had to wait for it to launch. Within the past year it has had a brand new SSD that received a fresh copy of Windows 11 Pro. I have checked every conceivable driver update, did some googling for answers, and closely monitored system telemetry through Hardware Monitor (CPUID). I haven't been able to figure anything out. This issue has made me wish that there is a software that could help me narrow down the possible issue. But we all know that there are a million "pc health checkers" that are either malware completely or include malware or malicious intent. So I figured the best thing to do would be to reach out to the community and see if anyone else has found a solution. Below are the PC specs: Ryzen 5800x (AIO water cooled) Asus 3070 OC MSI MPG B-550 32 GB of Corsair DDR4 @ 3200 MHz 2 TB 980 EVO PRO (no manual overclocking or mining has been done on this system)

Please help my 15 year old game can't even stop lagging. I suspect maybe this is a bottleneck My setup: i know it's crap Intel atom n2600 GMA 3600 (its integrated graphics) 2 GB ram HDD 375 GB 5700 rpm (117 GB free) Another thing I noticed is that the ram usage while I'm gaming can't go higher than 55% If you're wondering I'm playing gta sa. It's fps is stuck around 5 or rarely 20 fps. Yes it's just so fustrurating playing like this. I have used game boost softwares it only boosted around 2 fps. But sometimes it does not effect. I don't know what's really wrong about my laptop or it's just it. It is maybe bottlenecking but I'm not quite sure. It's benchmark is around equal to the pentium 4. So it could be another factor, it's an atom cpu. So well maybe the cpu might actually bottlenecked it. I'm going to overclock it but many said your pc doesn't improve much performance and generate more heat, so I guess it's should be the same crap. Help me.. what should I do. Thanks for ideas. Edit 16/11/20 : I tried a tweak that made my game's texture crappy low. before : 5 fps after: 8 fps Well results should be (experience from other players) fps jumped up slot. Well so here's the important: Gpu (integrated graphics GMA 3600) is bottlenecking. Possible proofs: If I looked up the sky, there is absolutely nothing to render. Fps jumped to 60. When I looked buildings and stuff, fps got to 6. Gpu temp higher than Cpu. Here's what I did to overclock GMA 3600. At first times, I used msi afterburner. It didn't show anything and all the interactive things looks like it cannot be pressed. ( Ofc that old stuff won't do anything with afterburner) Then, I found a program named GMA booster. It said it overclocks GMA graphics but I launch it and it won't work. Then I looked up and actually GMA 3600 is not actually supported.

Please someone help, after trying to get nvidia drivers working and having to call nvidia support they made me update to windows 10 version 1607 and said that would fix all my problems and then the drivers would install correctly, well after literally waiting 9 hours for the update to download it installed and i let the computer restart itself to adhere the new update. After booting the computer the next time and everytime after that it freezes, stays at 100% cpu load, lags extremely bad, internet it less than half the speed it used to be and the problems keep coming. So i did a clean install of windows 10 again and the problem still persists. Everywhere i looked people say to roll back to 1511 that i had prior to the update, but when i try to roll back my system doesnt have any previous versions of windows at all, this is is even before i did a clean install again. What do i do??? my pc is literally useless and cant even open up the start menu without freezing. Clean install, no antivirus, no other programs at all only what comes with windows 6700k, gtx h100i cooler, gigabyte z270 mb and sandisk 120gb ssd

Hi, Please see system specs in signature. My pc is running slow. When I start up windows, it's fast. But when I then start to open programs like skype, it's not as snappy as it used to be. It takes like 10 seconds before skype starts to open. I've monitored CPU usage & HDD usage while waiting. - No usage...

Hi guys, so last year (August sometime) I built a high-end PC. It ran perfectly smooth then, however lately I've been getting framerate drops in games like Battlefield 1. It's running at about 20fps on max settings (everything) at 4K. It rann at 60fps before, but now that and GTA V has been running poorly for some reason. Even Norton causes the cursor to lag to around 14 fps (or something like that). Also I've been getting notifications that I've run out of memory if I'm laying on something like Gears of War 4 (which has also had a performance hit to around 39fps when playing split screen). I have G-sync enabled, Norton antivirus (it's horrible but I don't know if there's a better alternative), and 96GB free on my SSD (400GB PCI) running on Windows 10. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks. Specs: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 32GB DDR4 RAM MSI X99A GODLIKE Gaming Carbon Intel Core i7-6850K 400GB Intel PCI-Express SSD Corsair AX1200i

Hello there! I'm looking for recommendations here to boost my system or see what I've been doing wrong... I work in the Media Team of our church, and later the main computer we use during church services has become really slow and if I check Performance in the Task manager it shows me that the GPU is fully under load... Everything else, RAM, CPU etc is under 20% of usage Since I'm not at church right now I don't have the full specs of the PC but I'll try to put them here as good as possible: CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K (Will confirm this later I'm not sure if its 5th gen or 4th gen) GPU: NVIDIA NVS 810 (VCNVS810DP-PB) Capture Card: AVerMedia Live Gamer HD, Game Capture and Streaming in High Definition 1080p, Reduce CPU Usage, Ultra Low Latency, H.264 Hardware Encoding HD Game Recorder, PCIe, (C985) (I think this Capture Card is Discontinued so I just took the whole description from my Amazon Purchase from when I built the computer) OS: Win 10 Pro RAM: 32 GB Storage: 480GB SSD, 4TB HDD Use Scenario of the PC: We use the PC to do 3 major jobs: Live Stream the Worship Service Lyric Projection Audio Recording of the Worship Service for Podcasting purposes We have a 3 Monitor Setup for Administrating the Whole Service, use 2 Projectors for the Lyrics for the audience, and one 4k TV (the PC sends a 1080p signal to it) as a stage display, all connected to the Graphics Card. The programs we are running are the following: WireCast Studio 12 (For Live Streaming) Recommended System Requirements: OS: Windows 10 Processor: i7 quad-core @ 2.8GHz+ Memory: 16GB+ RAM Hard Drive: 500GB+, Solid State OS Drive Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce or AMD Radeon, 1GB+ video memory Easy Worship 7 (For Lyric Projection on both Audience Projectors and Stage Display, Different Signals are sent for Audience and Stage) Recommended System Requirements: OS: Windows 7 - 10 64-bit Processor: 2.5 - 3.4 GHz Intel i5 or i7 Quad Core Memory: 8 GB RAM Storage: SSD or 7200 RPM HDD Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX or RTX GPU Audacity (for Audio Recording) Firefox or Google Chrome (for Stream Monitoring) The computer gets REALLY laggy and slow if everything is running, and because of that the Stream gets really laggy too or sometimes it stands still for a while and than fast forwards to the current position which makes up for a very bad experience watching the stream Also, we have never been able to use video loops as lyrics backgrounds because the computer just becomes unusable at all. What recommendation can you guys give me to do? We need to plug in at least 6 outputs on the graphics cards currently and are looking to expand to 2 outputs more in the future so we need lots of outputs The graphics card is a dual GPU one, and both GPUs go between 80-100% load while running all the stuff we need! I hope you guys don't have to cringe to much reading this, I'm from Mexico, but really try my best to learn good English although I'm not quite there yet!! :-)

I have a work PC that I built using some parts from an old personal build. I installed a brand new SSD to run the OS and to store basic things (Chrome, POS systems, etc). I have recently been noticing that I have spikes in lag/stutter when doing simple things like opening a new tab, moving windows across screens, etc. I thought perhaps the CPU was not able to keep up with the two monitors (just 2 regular 1080p@60Hz monitors). The CPU runs at most 60% under load (i5660k). Ram is fine too at 8Gb runnning on average at 50-60%. Then I noticed the drive usage was idling around 10% but spiking up to 100% every now and again and it coincided with the lag spikes I was getting. Now I may be an idiot, but I was under the impression that an SSD is less prone to these sorts of things because it does not have to sin up a physical drive every time it needs information. Am I missing something here? For clarification, my home PC uses a combination of HDD and SSD. SSD for holding the OS and I have never experienced this type of thing before. Any insight would be a huge help! Thanks in advance. Sean

I have a Pentium g4560 and 8gb of ram and when I quit pubg my computer acts super slow do I need a new CPU or more ram?

So I have a Gateway DX4200-09 desktop pc and I use it to play games and do random stuff. But its sooo SLOW I can't play a single GAME without lag its impossible, plus it's laggy on windows explorer too! i tried everything from deleting stuff to shutting off all programs in the backround even Windows! it helped somebit but not really, I played stuff from counter strike to Minecraft and get around to 4 to 14fps on lowest settings possible. and bigger games not even a chance. My mac laptop did better but it's broke now. so here's specs: cpu: amd phenom x4 9100e ram: 4gb DDR2 800mhz graphics card: ati radeon hd 3200 Running: windows vista hard drive: 640gb btw I only have 5gb left on hard drive but I can make room. Is it a problem I can fix,is it too old, is it because my storage is full or is it just horrible and get a new pc or its just too dusty. Any fix to this?

Hello there, This is the first time I've ever upgraded the memory on my current PC. I was running 16GB of Avexir DDR3 memory at 1600MHz speed, and I have just replaced it with 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 memory at 1866MHz speed. Now, my PC feels like its significantly slower than what it was before I upgraded (especially when booting up). Also, the first and second time I turned my PC on after the installation, the PC turned on, did nothing, shut down, then turned back on fully functional. Is this normal? Thanks for your help. EDIT: All of the memory is being detected properly

Recently I have been having some big problems with my pc. Every time I boot it up and go to run a game im getting less than half of my usual 60 fps. I've also noticed that if im running a game and watching a youtube video the youtube video with stutter and have low fps (this has never been a problem for me before). Usually to fix this I have to restart my pc 2 or 3 times then it fixes the issue. This problem also occures if I put my computer to sleep then wake it up i will have to restart a couple of times. I noticed this all started when I put my custom pc into a new mini itx case so im thinking I may have broken part or somthing. All my drivers are up to date i've checked twice and i just recently upgraded to windows 10 64 bit Home edition. As for my pc it has the following hardware: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97N-WIFI CPU: Intel Core i7-4770k GPU: EVGA GTX 770sc RAM: 8gb Balistix ram PSU: It came built in to the EVGA Hadron case SSD: Samsung 120 gb ssd (has windows installed) HDD: WD Blue 1tb Hard drive Any help is greatly appreciated.

Its not slow, but it feels like i got hang ups and its like not as responsive as i would like. I would love to get it feel like superfast and never say no to a new task, or as close as i can to that goal. I can not see any bottlenecks in my system myself.
