  1. Hello, I built my first pc a week from this post, and everything has run smooothly with greats temps, etc. The only issue is that I’ve recently been dealing with is that anytime I put my PC into sleep mode it won’t turn back on with wiggle of mouse or even slight push on power button. I have to fully shut off the pc with power button and wait a little then turn it back on. I have wake with mouse/keyboard enabled, I recently tried enabling ErP, and my drivers/chipset are up to date. It is good to mention that everything within the pc turns on fans/lights but nothing pops up on screen. While my PC works fine it’s annoying that I can’t say leave to eat lunch and come back and just move my mouse to open back up. Any one else experienced this before or have any ideas. Any help is appreciated.
  2. Hi! Built a pc this summer which I am extremely pleased with, it works great and I've been having next to no issues at all. The only thing that bothers me is the constant dual boot and that it doesn't wake up from sleep mode. I have to manually hold the power button down and restart after it goes into sleep. Is there something in the BIOS that is causing this, or is the dual boot normal with my hardware? The pc works great when it's running, had no issues with it at all. Extremely thankful for any help with this! Radeon 7900XT 20GB AMD Ryzen 7 7700X DDR5 32GB 6000Mhz SN770 1TB M.2
  3. This problem appeared recently. After pressing hibernation button in Windows, pc starts hibernation sequence, screen goes blank and usb stuff like keyboard and mouse do not respond. Hovewer, no matter for how long I wait, my pc just doesn't turn off - fans are spinning. No idea why or how this occures, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Specs: Qiyida x99-h9 motherboard xeon e5-2640v3 GTX 1650 SUPER 16 gb 2133mhz ECC RAM, 1 plank (working at 1866 because bound by something) SHDD Seagate ST2000DX001-1CM164 1.8 TB Windows 10 21H2 home single language
  4. (Solved Update 2/28/2021 1:10AM Solution: Try everything bellow, and most off all wait 2 minutes after your display turns off for your computer to sleep, despite windows saying 1 minute.) I'm in the same boat, First I had to figure out how to keep my computer from waking up moments after manually telling it to sleep, now the problem is getting it to sleep on its own. @Mira Yurizaki "open a command line prompt as an administrator and issue the following command: powercfg -requests This should tell you who's keeping the computer awake" So I tried powercfg -requests command and my result is bellow: C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg -requests DISPLAY: None. SYSTEM: None. AWAYMODE: None. EXECUTION: None. PERFBOOST: None. ACTIVELOCKSCREEN: None. I'd see something under system, but there is nothing preventing the system from entering sleep mode. Note: my most recent change, I went into Bios and enabled S4-S5, I could before and still can manually by clicking start then click sleep and put my computer to sleep where everything appears to shutoff and can be woken up using keyboard or mouse. but I'm still facing my computer not sleeping after a set time of inactivity of say one minute on its own. Also I have used this command as well (sfc /scannow) and nothing is wrong with my PC nothing to fix. I've also changed around additional advanced power settings such as: 1. Allow hibernate sleep - disable 2. allow wake timers - disable 3. USB selective suspend setting - disable 4. when sharing media - allow computer to sleep After using the command cfg -energy command bellow is my report I don't fully understand it so I hope someone here can help. This is driving me crazy, I want to save energy so don't keep going over on my electric cap they have on my apartment, and that cap is tight.
  5. Hello everybody, So I've been getting pretty tired of always having to pay for minecraft servers to play on with friends recently. I still have an old mid-range gaming PC laying around and i really want to use it as an always on minecraft server. I might run a few VMs on it later but not for now. The CPU is an i5 4460, motherboard's a H81M-K. Its got 16GB of Ram, a sata SSD and a GTX 750TI. Oh and I think there's a 600W PSU in it. I think I'm definitely gonna take out the GPU, since it consumed a lot of power and I don't need it in a server. So, I have a few questions and Id be really happy if anyone could help me out: -Can I put this built in an empty closet or is it going to overheat? The reason being that it's the only place with ethernet (there's already a network switch in that closet) and i wont be hearing the fan noise. -How much power is it gonna consume? Is there a way to make it more power efficient? Energy is pretty expensive here (30cents/kWh) so I'd be happy if the server consumed like 10watts at idle and 45-60 under load. Is that possible with the CPU I have? I know that it has an 84Watt TDP but I don't think a minecraft server is gonna max out all cores. -Is there a way to make windows enter sleep mode at say 3am and power back on at 10am? That would save me a lot of power I hope. -Lastly, how much bandwidth is a minecraft server gonna use per player? My internet's about 100down/35up. Thanks a lot in advance guys! Have a nice day, Luis
  6. So I have a gaming laptop which is always plugged in and enjoy using my wireless mouse to wake it up without having to touch it. The problem I have is I also have a laptop cooler stand under it connected via one of the USB 3.1 ports, so when my Laptop is put to sleep the fans and lights of the cooler stand are still running (fan noises ). I'm not trying to be lazzy or anything it's just I've injured my leg making it hard to move about so being able to do everything hands off would be great. (Just editing cause I have many views but no one offering advice would help a lot please if someone could help get this to work it would really help set my mind away from my leg because I'm tired of being stuck in bed the last week and I'm still struggling to use crutches got a month or so until I start walking again) (So my question is it it possible to somehow have the port the cooler stand is connected too to stop powering the device while still being able to wake my Laptop using the wireless mouse.)
  7. I have a HP Gaming PC, the specs are as follows, Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3500 6-Core Processor 3.59 GHz Installed RAM 8.00 GB System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor With an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super Please let me know what other info you need as I am not extremely PC literate, just enough to be dangerous to myself. I have MSI Afterburner running to monitor temps and occasionally while the computer is in sleep mode I will hear the high temp alarm from the program going off. I will come into my office to find the PC feels warm to the touch up top and no fans are running. Once I move my mouse fans kick on and temperatures fall and the alarm ceases. I was under the impression that the CPU shouldn't be being used while the computer is in sleep mode. Bitdefender doesn't find any problems or malware, but I am worried for the future of my hardware. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Hi Guys, I would like to ask if I could assign a key to wake up my computer? I just wanted it on sleep mode. I don't like shutting it off and on again whenever I'm not using it, but I have three cats running around and when they step on the keyboard, my computer turns on. I would like to set up instead a key combination like ctrl+esc so that my cats won't be able to turn it on.
  9. My computer's sleep mode is set to one hour and I was defragmenting my hard disk drive, after I woke up, I turned on my computer and Defraggler was at 98% with "15 minutes left" and continued defragmenting where it left off. I've read posts online that shutting down your computer while defragmenting will corrupt your files, but will sleep mode do the same thing? I mean it did continue where it left off, is that good or bad? Will my files be corrupted because of the sleep mode even though it continued where it left off?
  10. Hello, So I put my PC into sleep mode every night, and most (not all), but most of the time when I wake it the next morning, I will have problems. It is always the same problems; Can't Playback YouTube videos, the USB Transmitter for my Arctic 7 Headphones wont detect, and the windows UI is sometimes very unresponsive. I have reset the bios to default multiple times. The only way to fix it is restart the pc then unplug and replug the audio receiver. This is a pain to troubleshoot as I have to have the pc in sleep for a while for it to occur, and it doesn't occur every time. I have turned on and off hybrid sleep or whatever its called, and It is hasn't fixed. This started happening a couple months ago and I can not think of anything I did to change it. I thought it may be my GPU drivers but I've rolled back, Updated, and even switched to the studio-ready Nvidia drivers and it was not solved. Thank you.
  11. Hey , I was working on pc , some gfx work and then I left my work station so i thought I should my pc on sleep mode to retrieve the work from ram , bcz my work wasn't final so i thought instead of save , sleep will be a good choice Then i came back, around 15min Then my PC wasn't responding / booting idk what was going on then i thought to hold the Button to shut it off like force shut still not working then i thought to go for reboot still same then finally i thought lets switch off the button (PSU Button , not main swtich) then my PC wasn't responding then I turned of main switch waited 1min then still same thing Twists - after so many tries I turned on pc but i got my data back but wait howww , I turned off the main switch so it should kill the data also right ? Mistake - After that I tried same sleep and same thing happened pc wasn't responding Then Somehow again i got the boot and I tried Pc restarting and all it was working atm now , but let's see tomorrow at morning The Que - why this thing was happening , is it win10's issue but , I turned off the main switch so it should work right ? 2.Happned same thing on 2nd sleep mode 3. Is there any psu issue any chances or voltage issue ( I am getting L & N rev when i connect my monitor to board so idk what's the thing) So , I am worried now psu issue or home voltage issue idk i m damn worried rn Specs - 7 3700x / msi 2070super / msi x570gaming edge wifi / 16gb 3200mhz / Corsair 750w / win10 (not activated) Any test that should i do ? Ps - waiting for electrical eng tmrw to check volts and all
  12. So I've loved my new build, it works great and is easily the most computer I've probably ever used, but there's one weird issue... It will not wake when I interact with my keyboard or mouse. My past experiences say this should work, and the rgb on my kb&m turns on when I interact with either of them, but the pc refuses to wake from sleep mode. Is this a Windows setting that's just been on by default in my past pc's or is this some weird quirk with built pc's? System works perfectly otherwise. 13. Hello everyone, hoping to get some help. This is a brand new build, but I had a similar issue on my previous build that I never looked into. I'm thinking it has to do with the AMD processor but I am not sure. My PC runs perfectly fine, benchmarks great, never an issue when using it. But, when it goes to sleep, either automatically or manually, when I go wake it up the computer is completely locked up. It wakes up, but no mouse or keyboard. I see the Windows lock screen, but nothing responds and the time never changes. It's completely locked. I unplugged and replugged in my keyboard/mouse, and it made no difference. Only way to bring it back is a hard reboot. I have tried reinstalling Windows, both 10 and 11, all drivers are up to date, and currently in Windows 11 it says I can't change my power mode since it's locked in high performance mode. Is there anything anyone can suggest I try? Please! Thank you. Full specs are below: Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming Ryzen 9 5900x Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 32GB Corsair DDR4-3200 Ram (I tried with just 16GB and it did it there too) Corsair 600W PSU Thank you for any help anyone can provide.
  14. Quick question, should I use sleep mode on my pc when I'm not using it? Is it safe with a UPS on? And is my UPS good for my specs? My UPS is a 650VA My specs: CPU: Intel Core i5-9400F GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050TI 4gb CPU Cooler: 2x120mm fans with a heatsink Ram: 8gb 2666mhz Motherboard: Gigabyte h310m PSU: Acepower 650w 80plus bronze HDD: 1x500gb 1x2TB SSD: 120gb Misc: 6xRGB Fans, 1xFan Controller
  15. I have a Macbook pro 15 inch late 2013 been using it with no problems for years, but lately it started rebooting after it goes into sleep mode. I followed a guide and tried resetting SMC/PRAM, turning off "put hard disk to sleep", re-seating the battery, reinstalling MacOS, and turning off hibernate mode with the terminal. It was still doing it after all that so i finally decided to replace the logic board. It came in today and i installed it and it seemed fine for an hour or two then it just restarted again after it went to sleep ..... I am not sure what to do next. The only other thing i can think of is the storage drive or an issue with Catalina possibly... Anyone else know about this issue and what to try next? edit: i didnt do all those at once i tried each thing individually to see exactly what might be the cause of the problem
  16. Hi everyone, I apologize if this question has been asked before but I am having a bit of trouble with my XPS 13. The laptop is fantastic for the most part but the sleep mode seems to cause a really big drain on the battery. Now the only point of reference I have is the Macbook Pro retina that I switched from. When the lid was closed on it I could come back hours later and very little battery had been drained but the XPS battery seems to drain really quickly and I am wondering if there is a simple way to fix it. I did a bit of a Google search and it looks like quite a few people have encountered this but I couldn't find an obvious fix. If anyone has a good idea of how to solve the issue please let me know. Thanks very much. Richard

  19. I have been trying to figure out why my Windows 10 won't go into sleep mode. It shuts off my monitor and never enters sleep mode. I've tried many different solutions I've been able to find online, but none of them has corrected the issue. Am I missing something? The following is the Power Efficiency Diagnostics Report from my computer. If someone could help I would very much appreciate it! 20. So in the past few weeks I have a problem with my PC. I noticed it when I left my PC in sleep mode, and when I pressed enter on the KB for some reason the PC would restart and it would get stuck on the BIOS splash screen. If I removed all USB devices, it would work normaly. But this would continue to happen when my computer would go to sleep. Just now, I booted my computer, it powered on, and then shut off and then restarted and it did the same thing, but this time I had to also remove the Ethernet cable and speakers so that it would work. All this started since I overclocked my i7 2600K to 4,3 Ghz. But at the same time when i did this I also upgraded my BIOS from F7 version to F9 in Windows with the Gigabyte utility. Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H rev 1.1., GPU is a GTX 980. RAM is 16 Gb of Corsair XMS3 1600 Mhz. The boot drive is a Samsung 850 EVO SSD 250 GB. BIOS is made by American Megatrends. How can I fix this?
  21. Hello there! I'm trying to fix my friend's Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15iby. He accidentally tripped over the USB cord that was connecting the laptop and his phone, and at that moment the laptop just went kaput (the phone is ok btw). The power LED on the laptop just keeps blinking, the manual says that the blinking LED indicates that the laptop is in sleep mode. When I connect the AC adapter the battery LED turns on, which is what it normally does. Holding the power button for more than 5 sec turns it off. Holding the power button for more than 5 sec, with the AC adapter plugged, in briefly turns it off, and then it goes back to being all blinky and stuff. I opened up the laptop and have tried the following: -disconnecting the battery and holding the power button for 30 sec -clearing CMOS -reseating the RAM stick -pressing the NOVO button (which supposedly resets the laptop to factory settings or something like that), I did that with the HDD removed Also the CPU gets hot when it stays in the "sleep mode" for a while. I'm really scratching my head over here; it's a curious problem it seems Thanks for your time
  22. Good day, An interesting theory was brought forth today at my workplace. Easy as it may sound, I do not know how to prove or debunk the theory. One of our employees recently had an incident in which his laptop was stolen from his car. He shared that from the experience, his tech friend suspected the robbers could have located his laptop by tracking it through its probe requests for Wi-Fi. The Laptop was on sleep however at the time of theft. So my question goes, is there a simple way to prove or debunk the theory to a regular Joe to put the case to rest? I am still not sure that a probe will still go on even during sleep mode in Windows 10 Pro to be more specific. Any advise will be highly appreciated. Warm regards, Haron Mumuli.
  23. When I put my PC to sleep it suddenly goes off as if the power is cut. After this it usually starts up again immediately but sometimes it gets stuck in loading the bios. I just built a new PC: Ryzen 7 3700x @4.3 32 gb ddr4 3200 cl16 Gigabyte aorus x570 pro Rtx 2070 super gigabyte corsair RM850x The Windows logs say nothing about this so i think it is hardware related, some setting in the bios?
  24. I own an Asus Zenbook Flip 14 UX461UN. After a while I noticed that it keeps waking up from sleep, particularly when the lid is closed. Also, if it does I can't get it to wake up from sleep mode. Furthermore, it overheats during these time lapses, and I can't figure out what is the problem. Does anyone have any idea or can help me, before I contact the support?
  25. Hi Guys, I'm encountering an issue when I continue gaming after my pc went into sleep mode for a couple of hours. Every game is unplayable at that point. 15 FPS max. Normally I easily get 144 fps. I have a triple monitor setup, but I'm only gaming on 1 Monitor = Asus VG48QE Specs : CPU : intel 7700K GPU : Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 TI 11 GB Mobo : MSI Z270 Gaming Carbon Pro Ram : Corsair Vengeance 32 GB 3200 mhz PSU : Crosair tx 650 W I've reinstalled drivers, reinstalled windows, deleted software apps like razer synaps... I'm clueless at this point. Somebody else have an idea what the issue could be ?
