I'm baack, . I've built a NAS out of my old computer with six 6TB drives, an old SSD SATA drive thats somewhere between 150-250 Gb. I'm using Unraid as suggested by a User and I've had some fun with it since then. After doing some tests I see that I have some damage starting in that old SSD drive, and I've seen that the smart way to go forward is to use 2 drives for cache to protect against a dying drive during data saves. So when I installed it made 1 of the 6TB drives a parity drive leaving 5*6TB for my data storage. Extremely rough math says thats 30TB and with the suggested 10% cache to storage ratio I'm looking at 3TB. So (I was going to go with two 2TB Crucial ( https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B003J5JB12/ref=sr_1_9?crid=3LK2PQZ2JWH0&keywords=2tb%2Bcrucial%2Bssd&qid=1702445143&sprefix=2tb%2Bcrucial%2Bssd%2Caps%2C251&sr=8-9&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.d0e27fc4-6417-4b26-97cb-f959a9930752&th=1 ) drives. My amazing wife asked me if the 4 TB drives were on sale and if it was worth it to go that route. I think it's serious overkill, but again, I'm turning to those with more knowledge. This will be used to store our media (movies music and photos) and to be a Jellyfin media player to our 4K 85" tv. I say this only because I've read that pushing out the data for the bigger 4K TVs is harder than a small tv. Not that I think cache is involved with playing movies and music back, but I could be 100% wrong! The old computer uses a P67 Sabertooth M0b0 that has 8 sata ports thankfully.

I was going to begin planning a new build for myself and wanted to know the cheapest form factor to build in. I know that larger is more expensive but I wasn't sure about weather getting smaller would be any cheaper than mid-tower.

My Cooler Master HAF XB EVO case can not house graphics cards over 334 mm. To give my self some wiggle room, I want to keep it below 330 mm. There are no other full ATX horizontal cases that can fit full graphics cards. Are there any? Will I have have to get a liquid cooled variant?

Does anyone know the maximum size item that can fit in the main compartment of the LTT Backpack? I'm looking at a stroller that folds up to be 11.8 in x 7.1 in x 13.8 in. I'm thinking I could use the LTT Backpack as a diaper/stroller/misc bag. Will that fit? It's smaller than the dimensions of the bag by quite a bit, but I can't find anywhere a breakdown of the main pocket size(s).

I can only afford a budget case, but i must choose one of these two that has the most stable airflow,temps,clearence of the hardware size, if i can ask for more, the one that is easier to clean up. the two options that i have left are: https://www.phanteks.com/Eclipse-P300A.html (phanteks p300a) or https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=726&area=es (silverstone redline RL06) my system specs are: -CPU: ryzen 5 5600x -CPU cooler: noctua nh-u12s chromax black -Motherboard: Rog strix b550-f gaming -GPU: MSI gaming x trio 3060ti -RAM: 16gb G.skill trident z 3200mhz on dual channel -PSU: EVGA supernova g3 750w -Actual case: gigabyte c200 (if its not much diference betwen my actual case or the ones that i can afford,then tell me if its better to have this one,rather than the ones i want) P.D:of course if you have a better case option than these two cases, then your advices are more than welcome here. P.D2: Sorry if my english is painfull to read, this isnt my native language. thank you .

Hello, I was kindly offered a WD My Book 28TB DUO. The 2 drives come in raid 0, 512 sector size, NTFS GPT by default. Don't understand much about storage but as far as I know it would be better to have it with 4096 sector size correct? However, if I try to format it as NTFS it goes from 8192 bytes to to 2048K only. The option for 4096K only shows up under exFAT. Alternatively I've read I can use WD program to format as compatible mode for MBR 4096K. Basically, usage will be just having it plugged to my pc as mass storage. Somewhat often I might plug it to TV. Can someone enlighten me on the best option and how to format the drive as such? Thank you in advance for all the help. Regards,

Asrock H81M-VG4/Asus H81M-CS.Is it Mini-ITX or Micro-ATX? Both Asus and Asrock's offical product page says that these mobos are micro-atx. But their size (Asrocks: 7.5-in x 6.7-in, 19.1 cm x 17.0 cm, ASUS: 7.5 inch x 7.0 inch 19 cm x 17.7 cm) says otherwise. I was planning to buy a cabinate that can fir AsRock H81-VG4 board, and prefer it to be as small as possible. Should i go with Mini-ITX case or go with Micro-ATX case as per the info on official page?

In your opinion, what's the ideal laptop size for you? For me, it's a 15.6 laptop. It's big enough to view all the content, but just barely enough to be portable for me. 14-inch laptops work for me as I've used one in the past, but it can be a bit small for me. 13-inch laptops, I couldn't imagine using one despite how portable it would be. 16- & 17-inch laptops seem promising with the big screens they offer, but I am wary of the portability (or lack of) in laptops like those.

Question regarding size! Hello, I am about to build my first PC! I have purchased my motherboard which is a MSI MAG B560M MORTAR. This is a Micro ATX motherboard, and I am about to buy a NZXT H510 elite and I'm wondering if it's going to look terrible as the motherboard is small. I was thinking about mounting my GPU vertically (2060) but I've heard its bad for airflow. I'm going for an aesthetically pleasing PC and I'm not exactly sure how it will turn out! Any advice or pictures of similar pc's would be appreciated!

Hi peeps, I’ve just got a new surface pro 8 and installed a few older 64-bit apps (quickbooks 2016 and Adobe fireworks (CS6) - I know, I know but it’s what I know / have and don’t have time to learn a newer/alt version or app at the moment) anyhoo! They installed fine, but for some reason the toolbar and menus all display so small it’s near unusable. pop up options appear at a normal size so it’s just the initial load and UI scaling that’s a problem. How do I fix this? windows is at default settings and everything else is fine. It’s only these 2 older apps that are the problem. Oh and illustrator but that’s part of the CS6 package too. is there a way to increase scaling (is that even what’s needed??) on only these three apps? note the very small File menu and then the normal size once opened under window menu item;

Hey everyone! So over the past few months I've been slowly planning a new build with the arrival of both the 3080 and AMD's new processors. I figured out most of what I wanted but I am now second guessing my choice in case. I was going to go with Fractal Design's Meshify C because of how highly rated it is for its airflow and also how compact it is. For comparison my current build uses a Corsair 750D airflow edition which takes up a lot of space. The problem I have with the Meshify C is the max length on the GPU really limits my choice of aftermarket 3080's. Most of the triple fan cards go beyond the 315mm limit. I cant remove a fan to make room either cause I want to have two 140mm fans at the front for intake. The other thing which none of these cases have issues with afaik is that I am planning to have a 240mm liquid AIO mounted at the top of the case. Now I am trying to decide between Lian Li's Lancool II Mesh and the Fractal Design Meshify 2. Starting out with the Lancool II Mesh I do like that it is still sorta small while obviously supporting a larger GPU. The airflow on this case seems to be very good and the half mesh panels on the side seem nice if youre mounting fans on the bottom. The cable cover panels are also a plus cause the double tempered glass looks clean. As for the Meshify 2, it seems more or less like you are getting everything you want from the Meshify C except bigger. The build quality of both those cases seem very high quality from what I've seen. I do prefer the fact that Meshify 2 has two filters on the front panel where the Lancool II Mesh only has the metal mesh and nothing actually filtering smaller particles. Even though the case doesnt stand as tall as my previous 750D, it is still about the same length at 21 inches. Overall, I really do like both cases and see pros and cons to picking one over the other. I keep going back and forth between the two and just want to know any of your guys thoughts on my decision or if any of you were looking between the same cases before and which one you chose. I am very excited to have this build finished eventually and thanks for any help or suggestions!

Hi, Can somebody who owns or has phisical access to Gigabyte RTX 4070Ti Gaming OC measure its exact dimensions? I know that officially it is L=336 W=140 H=58 mm, but I'm not sure if it's with or without mounting bracket and I need the length of the card without bracket to check if it fit my case. Thanks in advance

Is there a size limit on what a motherboard can handle as for as the size of the external hdd that is connected to the computer? for example, can some mobos only read up to say 2tb while another can read a full 6tb external? i want to get like a 3 or 4tb external, but i want to be sure that the full 3-4tb can be used with my os/components. thanks in advance

Hello guys, I just wanted to get a feel for the average desk size in the community and if you have your towers on it or not. I consider my desk as Small, not extra small but fairly small nonetheless: Its a weird modular Sitoca table with keyboard tray underneath the top which is expandable. There's a keyboard tray style tray (wow...) on the side for the tower, mine is a Mastercase pro 5 so it's taking up the whole space on that side tray thing (which is on rails too). Actual usable surface right now for mouse and monitor is 60 cm width and 52 cm depth... yeah I wanna hear about you guys' setups

Hello, wonder LTT users! Another stupid question today. One of my friends is currently trying to upgrade his graphics devices. (Currently using integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400) Problem is, he bought an Acer computer, and lives a state away. Sigh So, since I can't get any hands-on experience with the computer, I had to do the next best thing... Ask for the model. He has an Acer Aspire XC-705 (LINK) He needs a GPU able to play most modern games at 60fps, 1080p. (Yes, I told him to upgrade the CPU. No, he isn't upgrading it before getting a GPU.) Low Profile 1050 ? Low Profile 1050ti ?

Hey all, I intend to overclock my system very soon, and as a result, want to purchase a beefy air cooler. I have a 6700k which I've been cooling with an intel stock cooler so far (i know, i know... burn me at the stake), but I obviously don't want this situation to remain this way. My case is an Antec Six-Hundred V2 and has a 280mm fan on top and as a result, doesn't have the space for an AIO water cooling radiator meaning my only choice is an air cooler. Don't really have limits on my budget for it. Not interested in custom water cooling. Im using low-profile Corsair vengeance LPX RAM so it shouldn't be causing any clearance problem with the cooler and i'm running it all on an msi z170a gaming m5 motherboard. What would you recommend ? I've been thinking of the Dark Rock Pro 3 but wanted to ask around before making a definite decision. Obviously the Noctua nh-d15 is the best cooler around but it is just.. so.. ugly. Got a black and red theme going out for most of my case so would like the air cooler to fit that general style. Also if I could get any help making sure the clearance for the front panel works fine ? Thanks in advance!
